Need help with BT GPS n XDAIIs, plz plz plz plz

Greetings,
I have tomtom navigator installed on my XDA IIs and i have polstar bluetooth GPS, BT 111, they both work fine and excellent, but the problem is, the next time when i switch on the bluetooth gps and tomtom on my XDA, tomtom doesnt detect the gps itself, I mean i have to delete the bluetooth entry in the bt manager of XDA and i have to add this new bt connection and all the bt setup again, why is it, can someone please tell me the solution to it, i mean like is it possible tht everytime i switch on tomtom on XDA it automatically detects my bt gps receivers.
Plz, thanks in advance
cheers
First of all make sure you have TomTom Navigator version 5,21 loaded on the device. Then create th ebond between the devices, and set TomTom up to use "Other Bluetooth GPS". If you have done all this how long are you waiting for the XDA to switch on the BT and find the GPS? it can take upto 45 seconds on some devices, if you need TTN5,21 download it from www.tomtom.com as it is free - Mike
I'm running TTN 5.21 on my XDA IIs with no problems, I don't even need to do anything with the bluetooth, it automatically turns on the bluetooth when I start TTN and turns it off when I close, and it automatically picks up my TT BT GPS dongle. Although there is a max 5 min wait to get a valid GPS signal.
I installed the 5.0 version then used the update from the web site afterwards.

Can you use the gps on a Laptop

i was just wondering could i use the gps from the xda orbit on a laptop, and use gps software on a laptop...
Was also wondering if anyone has tried wififofum on the orbit yet? can u place wifi access points on it?
thanks in advance
Have a look at using Fransons GPS Gate, there is an option to output the GPS data via Bluetooth to another device (assuming your laptop is BT equipped) - not tried this on the Artemis as yet, but it works with other devices - Miike

GPS receiver doesn't connect update upgrading to WM6

I have a solar/battery Bluetooth GPS receiver that used to connect fine with TomTom on WM5 but since upgrading to WM6 I can't seem to connect with TomTom. I notice that the menus are different now for connecting and am not sure if I've set it up properly. Is there some specific set up for GPS now or do not all receivers work with WM6?
Never mind. I worked it out. I actually have to create a port for the device to connect to after pairing it.
indeed
Have a go at downloading google maps too. If you have got Windows managing your GPS then clicking on "Track Location" will show your GPS position on a google maps You can get a sattelite image of the exact place you're standing in - magic
Start Tomtom up at the same time to test that windows is correctly providing GPS data to both apps at the same time.

can i use artemis external gps on my laptop

hi
when i bought my artemis, it came with an external gps receiver which i have never used because the internal gps is doing it for me... i have microsoft streets and maps on my laptop and it would be great if i could connect the external gps that came with my artemis...
the connector is called MS-147-C(LP)-2 and it looks like in the picture
i hope some1 can answer me this time
Removed (mis-read the question!)
What you have got on the picture is only an External Antenna. It is NOT a GPS receiver. It is used to only boost the signal in poor conditions (ie in a vehicle).
There is no way to directly connect this Antenna to a PC/Laptop. You will need a real GPS receiver (PCMCIA/ExpressCard/USB) and if you buy one - you will (most probably) not need the Antenna.
On the other hand you most probably do not need it anyway. You can use the GPS receiver on your Artemis and share it (over USB/bluetooth) with your laptop.
There are already lots of threads and guides here. Just search!

TomTom 7 and BT Phone?

And yes, I searched the forum and internet for a solution - not found (yet). My question: When I use Tom Tom 7 (v 7.915) my Bluetooth phone connection to my car (Volvo) drops after 10-20 seconds. It's easily connected again (by enter), but drops again. I don't have this problem when TomTom is not running. So what does Tom Tom do with the BT connection is a puzlle to me. Any thoughts/answers to this?
BTW using the HD as a Harddisk connection to the Volvo USB audio system works like a charm - the display mentions author/singer/title - FF and FB work (also on the Steeringwheel buttons). Then at the same time BT connected to Phone, and looking at the agenda or some other piece of software - real multitasking. Untill I want to use Tom Tom - then the BT phone drops the connection. What to do?
