Greetings to all. Can you help me? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
I'm new about the concept of rooting/flashing process.
I have a xperia z1 compact - model D5003 and i have the desire to flash it with cyanogen since i can't upgrade android anymore. However if this is a bad choice, i'd like to downgrade it from the 5.1.1 to the 5.0.2 since i have the battery problem (a huge pain in the butt).
What is the best choice?
Thanks again.

I think it is better to stay with stock 5.1.1. 5.0.2 has more bugs.

No reason to switch back to 5.0... If battery life is your priority, switch to KK. If you want to stay on LP, 5.1 is better. Most battery drain problems come from Google. Use a firewall app, like AFWall, or disable all Google apps when not using them, and your battery will last twice as long.

Thanks for your help. I've already installed AFWall (free) and it's amazing! I'm going to keep LP 5.1 and see how it goes.

[Q] Sony ZL 4.4.4 (.283) Worth Updating to?

could people tell me if it's worth going to 4.4.4 from 4.3. I want to know if most of the issue from the 4.4.3 kitkat version has been fixed now with the new update and how good is the battery life now? Any overheating or random reboots?
It's much better than 4.4.2
Smooth,no battery drain,better multitask...etc
I think .283 is worth update
I am using stock 4.4.4rom&advanced stock kernel

You guys forgot to mention worse camera quality

i just updated mine to 4.4.4.. and upon fresh first install, it was very laggy, and it was overheating very badly that i had to power off to cool it down... not a promising start...
better than 230,but it is all your choice, lol

Ehh really?? I use my camera a lot so maybe I should just stay in 4.3
In my opinion... it does worth!
Soon after I had updated, I've already noticed the incredible change: No graphics lag! (No 2D GPU rendering anymore)
With two days of testing I had the conclusion that the battery lasts an average of 16 hours! Said "average" because of the continuous use of the device. I was listening to musics, using Skype in conferences, 3G/4G active all day long.
Conclusion: Feeling free of the lag from the previous update, and although the continuous use I got 16 hours of battery, and now it is not overheating and not noticed "freezes" on the screen. I can assure you it's worth the update!
the launcher for mine seems laggy, notification pull down still laggy, though battery seems strong now and overheating is over with.... i thought they got over this lag, in 4.4.4, but for mine still seems to be here.. makes me miss 4.3 that so much...
4.4.2 was so bad, I had went back to 4.3.... Upgraded to 4.4.4 and its great.... no issues... battery life is about the same as 4.3... its smoother than 4.3, and phone temp range is about the same as 4.3.... overall its pretty good

Hi guys, could anyone tell me if im going to update my xperia zL to the latest version of android 4.4.4 kitkat, would be the root access of my phone will be gone? Please help, i cant decide if i should update it or not. Thanks!
my software download was interrupted at 21% progress. had to resume later on.. could this be the reason why my firmware seems to botched and laggy? Do i need to download from start to finish without interruption to ensure a smooth installation?

Yes you will lose root. Maybe if you OTA from 4.4.2 rooted it will remain, but I'm not sure.
But it doesn't matter, because you can easily re-root 4.4.4 by flasing 4.4.2 kernel and rooting, then going back to 4.4.4 kernel .
Yeah I found pictures has more noises at 4.4.4
But without battery drain & high temperature it still worth updated

Finally someone noticed the noise
well worth it...
I updated from 4.4.2 and was using wake lock killer to protect the battery.
After the normal update and playing on Saturday...
Well unpluged at 10:00 AM today (Sunday) and at 10:30 PM I still have 47%, with lots of web browsing, on and off the wifi etc.
I have not really looked into the camera, but for me OK is good enough, so I expect to stay here untill we get a "L" update ... CM 12 maybe...
Hi everybody,
i am on [ROM] [4.4.4] ParanoidAndroid 4+ right now (rooted/unlocked Bootlaoder) and due to some bugs i want to try the .283 stock. Do i have to do anything else than flashing the new software via flashtool, e.g. wipe something? Never went back to a stock rom with my ZL...

4.4.2 is bad and not smooth.
4.4.4 is awesome and really smooth.
Worth updates.

Didn't lose root on the OTA.
i personally prefer 4.3. the 4.4 notification/quick settings drop down menu design just doesn't do it for me.

I agree. I cant See any, I say again, any improovment in 4.4. In 4.3 the menu design was far more better. All phone are smoothly in 4.3.
Even the keyboard on 4.4 lags.
I made an upgrade directly from 4.3 to 4.4 and lags. I did a factory reset and lag is continually. Simply like keyboard lags a lot and irritating...
Now I have to search on the forum how to back to 4.3. Anyone can put a link to it?
Tks

[Q] Discussion about LG G3 android system

Hi to all of you. I recently did buy a LG G3 with KitKat 4.4.2. Phone is awesome, battery lasts a lot for this screen over a day and a half (medium usage), without lagginess, maybe after restart it takes about 1 second to find everything but generally i am very happy with my purchcase. I have some questions though. Recently i got a OTA update about sth vcalled 20e. Its an update ~555mb and after some search i found out that this is the Lollipop official firmware. After plugging my phone into the LG PC Suite, i found out that even a newer version is available the 20f firmware ~over 1gb. Here starts my questions. Is it worth to go from kitkat to jellybean? Or is it better to stick with kitkat until they fix all the bugs i found out on forums. (So far i saw battery doesnt last so long, wireless charging has problems, lte doesnt work on most devices, others said about lagginess, most apps do not work with the new ART system). So what are your thoughts about this? Also i want to remove some google apps like google drive, and i want to remove this McAfee. Is there any possible way to do that easily without ruining my phone?

Stay on 4.4.2. Most of your research is correct - 5.0 is laggy, drains battery faster, there is "while on wireless charger, screen turns itself on constanly after charge reached 100%" bug, etc.
No, on 5.0 you can delete mcafee only via code from their support. And there is no way to delete Gapps wout root, which can only be obtained by flashing prerooted rom.
About apps - 99.9% of apps do work with ART. However, some - like Webkit-based apps - do crash sometimes.
About lte - only affects people who bought phones that were intended for different region. Region can be changed, btw, so it's not a real problem - it's just a ton of n00bs whining about "bug" they brought on themselves.

So you propose to stick with KitKat 4.4.2 and wait a couple of months until Lollipop gets better?, because i also heard the new art system is faster and more reliable. And generally the Lollipop is meant to be faster than kitkat. If you all advise me so, i will keep this thread open so that i can reply back or even ask more when the time comes

Well, i do advise to stick to 4.4.2 until LG fixes 5.0. However, there are thousands of members on xda. You may want to hear other's opinions before deciding anything.
P.S.: ART is faster than dalvik, there is no compilation-in-runtime overhead.
I'd wait and see if it eventually gets to 5.0.2. In earlier versions of LP, there is a memory leak that causes the system to slow down after awhile. 5.0.2 apparently fixes this. However, I have 5.0.2 on my Nexus 7 tablet and after awhile, I still notice performance issues that require a reboot, so I don't know if they really have the memory leak fixed or not. That's a pretty nasty bug that needs to be fixed before I install it on this phone.
Currently, KK runs great. And, if you want the LP look, you can do a few things:
Install Nova launcher and switch to LP icons
Install Xposed (which won't work on LP) and there is an Xposed module to give you the LP nav bar icons
KK on this phone runs great for me. No issues and I have no reason to go to LP at this time. Until they get the memory leak fixed, no dice for me. I love having a phone that doesn't require a reboot.
Agreed with most of the above. I actually upgraded mine to Lollipop. The experience was horrific. I went back to Kitkat and absolutely have no issues with the phone. It's a dream compared to Lollipop.
I also rooted and use the Tweaksbox to add lollipop styling. I won't be moving to lollipop again any time soon.

My advice is go for it. In my experience with the lollipop update all those little hick ups that appear occasionally (especially in animations and while pulling down notification bar) are gone. Lollipop is fluid and smooth, and rock stable. So far i haven't faced any FCs, glitches etc.. Everything is working fine (well, at least on my phone) and better than what it used to be on kitkat. Battery life is as good, if not even slightly better on lollipop.
I came from a nexus 5, and have been a nexus user for the last 3 generations, so i have high standards when it comes to lag and performance.
P.s. i have the 32gb/3gb RAM and i'm on stock firmware.
As an answer from LG Hellas, i got this: That the phone is working whole better and faster than kitkat (as lollipop), and that all errors are fixed. Also the lollipop update can use the whole processing power of the phone and as a result toghether with the art system, the phone is working better and faster with less battery drain than before. Also downgrading to their lg shops costs :/ . That was their answer to me.
I have a question for you guys. When i play a song sometimes particular songs show wrong album arts. And the correct are blurry. What size should i make them in order to show as good quality?
EDIT
Anything from 1000x1000 up to whatever you like you have some decent and good quality on any song. Because i found a problem and i think many of you out there have this problem as well. If some album arts display wrong, change that track's album to something.

Ok to upgrade OS on 3G galaxy tab 3 7.0 model?

Hi.
Sorry for the double post. Didn't get a response in other thread.
I have a galaxy tab 3 7 inch with 4.1.2. Is it a good idea to upgrade the OS? I'm worried it may affect performance negatively. I know that 4.3 included trim support which should improve performance but thought I'd check here.
Thanks in advance.
Which model is yours? t211, t210, t111, t110, etc...
Though it wont decrease performance anyways.

And you are still using 4.1.2!!
upgrade to 4.4.2 and you can install Nolekat v1.1 over it, then install warewolf kernel v008, and then install gapps(whichever you like).
Then debloat it with any way you like.
works MUCH MUCH better then 4.1.2.
PM me if you wish some more explanation.
I'd like to stick with official roms if possible. I heard that it caused stability problems for someone with apps crashing frequently so trying to get some more info on what other people think.

other people think its the best action to upgrade. its your choice if you wish to stay on 4.1.2 or upgrade to 4.4.2 and install some tweaks to improve performance. if you ask my opinion, I would recommend to install the nolekat1.1 and warewolf kernel and then debloat.
and if you still wish to stay on stock, thats fine enough, at least debloat the stock rom for faster performance.
personal experience, i could not use the stock system with whatsapp, hangouts and a few more apps installed and using those almost daily, as it would be so slow to open any app.
And now, i can certainly use my device. My battery drains like 20%(still have 80%) in the whole day with like 1 hour of talk time and 1 hour of general internet usage.
And for the apps crashing problem, i am not sure who told you that, but i have not experienced any app crash that SHOULD not happen.
Okay. Thanks for the info. Appreciate it.

Stable, fully functional, virus free Rom above CM11 with good battery?

Hi,
in the past I was upgraded to stock 5.1 and had big battery issues due to this. Downgrading to CM11 solved this.
Very happy.
Still, now I need some apps (Gear360 open app, cardboard, Google wirk) only available for Android 5.1 or better.
So my question, is if there is a fully functional (=camera, gyro, battery, sound, LTE, Wifi....) virus free stock above CM11 without bloatware from Sony or others around, which I can install without running into the battery issue again.
Minimum Google Play Store functionality is a must though.
I am a user, so appreciate not to technical answers.
The phone is rooted and has TWRP installed.
Thanks so much!!

I think your best bet is either stock 5.1 or dstriker, and just remove whatever bloatware you don't want. Fast battery drain is the fault of Gplay and Gservices most of the time, so if you delete the Gapps you don't want, and use a battery manager/network manager for the rest, battery life should be very good. The latest Cm12 builds by @derf elot and others are very good, (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=Amami), but I can't say anything about battery, since I haven't tested enough. Personally I use Jaguar most of the time, which is excellent, (https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...om-jaguar-amami-lp5-1-1-r37-hardened-t3396713).

Really? I ran this for 6 months, the phone seemed FAT respect to LOS, BTW you can install sony camera and other features, but the only you want, not fat sony apps and useless features like "glow mode" that doesn't work lol
AND THE SECURITY PATCHES UPDATED MONTHLY, NOT IN 2016.
Hi, need to revive this.
At the time I stayed with Cyanogen 11-20160510-unofficial-amami after all.Its Android 4.4.4. Kernel Version 3.4.0cyanogenmod-ga55e591 [email protected] #1 Tue May 10 22:28:47 CEST 2016 cm_amami-userdebug 4.4.4 KTU84Q c8b9323008 test-keys.
Batttery works great, camera not so good, all other very stable and good. Still I cannot install some more recent apps.
This actually got rid of sudden death for me!
As some time has passed since I posted the original question, I thought it might be worth reasking.
Are there any very stable newer than 4.4.4 Roms without battery issues and a reasonable good camera around by now?
Network connections and SD card have to work reliably.I use the phone every day.
I prefer a very clean ROM without bloatware from Sony or Google.
Please be so kind to point me directly to the latest download. All the tech jargon here is very confusing to me.
Please answer without tech jargon I am a pure user and barely manage to flash!
Thanks again,
Franny

Stock ROM or Nougat custom ROM?

Hi to everyone, recently I acquired (as a gift) this device (a RIO-L03, probably I'll change it soon, it's a "temporal" device). The performance and the battery are pretty good by my standards, but I don't like EMUI in overall. It is worth it flash a custom ROM for more performance/experience or just stay here in Marshmallow with EMUI? What are the advantages and inconvenients?
Thanks in advance, people.
Well, It depends on wha you're looking for.
I have my L03 and it was running MM B340 (it was supposed to solve whatsapp notification problems) but as time passed by It started to have some issues with apps like twitter, FB, Instagram and Whatsapp (Forced Closes). Furthermore, I commenced to experience some lag on my phone, even when just one app was running. In the end I decided to flash a N rom (AOSP Extended 4.4) and I can tell you is a lot better then the MM. Faster, easier to use, with no lag and battery life is greater. The only thing I can complain about is the CAMERA. This is, you lose your native camera app (huawei cam) by flashing in the ROM the Google cam. It's not as good as the original one and GC doesn't contain as many functions as the Huawei one.
Customization is amazing. And the possibility to root it is really easy.
However, you said it is only temporary and it might take more time to flash than the time you'll have this phone. So you keep it, you won't regret having a N rom. You change it, enjoy it as it is.
Regards.

Thanks for being the only person who reply, seriously. I've considered too much that option because, as like you, the phone has started to lagging and certanly it lost a bit of smoothness in overall (especially in menus like Settings or just in basic apps like WhatsApp). I can't complain too much about the camera because it just expendable for me, same with root. (I mean, I like Xposed/Magisk but I prefer just the personalization of AE with Substratum and still playing Pokémon GO and LL!, lmao). Again, thanks for your time, and I'll change to AOSP Extended soon. (Further, I'm going to give this phone to my mother, hopefully she's gonna have a fluid and solid experience)
Cheers.
