So I could only find one relevant thread about unlocking your bootloader and it was a question about tripping Knox.
My question is how do I unlock the bootloader at all? I've posted on two threads in error, apparently off topic, so here's my own.
I need to unlock my bootloader to flash TWRP to flash Magisk. Please help me. I'd like to think I'm somewhat competent.
I have an SM-G920P Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 with v5.0.1 (Lollipop).
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:
Hello! First of all I suggest take the Marshmallow update and then root and install twrp. You can check this thread :

Huh, okay. I vaguely remember there were a few reasons to not even update to 5.1.0 with respect to rooting. I intentionally avoided it. But I can give it a try. Although this was a while ago, so it all might have been remedied since. I'll just use Smart Switch.
So when you say "first of all," I assume this is relevant to unlocking my bootloader, or is this an unrelated suggestion?

Thank you both for the generous offer of assistance. One of the few good and supportive message boards out there.
It was a pain the ass process, but I got Magisk working. I had to work outside of the actual instructions I found on Reddit. Trial and error.
But I don't think I would have even bothered had I not known that my bootloader was already unlocked. Another reason I'm glad to be with Sprint. And on XDA .:good:
To anyone that reads this, if you need help figuring out Magisk, you can PM me about what I did.

You need to enable Developer Options (Settings -> About Device -> Tap on "Build number" until it is enabled) and then go to "OEM unlock" and turn that to "On."
I have written and maintain a complete set of instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...uide-links-files-update-root-restore-t3366862
Follow that you will have root and recovery.
NOTE: If you just install TWRP and do not root, the phone will overwrite that and go back to stock recovery.
Best of luck.

Answering for the team so if the guys want to correct me, feel free, just attempting to head off more distracting lines of "not" frequently asked questions. THANKS FELLAS!
1. YES, this is simply a method of gaining root, nothing more, nothing less. Your FOTA will likely fail OR worse due to a) being rooted and failing checks or b) system changes you may or may not make after you ROOT but this is a "Method TO ROOT" so again, nothing more, nothing less. (Question is out of scope)
2. NO, why would you even want to get an updated root method app that you are supposed to uninstall after you have rooted? (Question doesn't really make much sense)
3. NO CLUE and out of scope, this is a "Method TO ROOT", nothing more, nothing less.
4. Probably but if you want to help, you tell @jcase but it's out of scope and as an exploit creator, not really his/the teams deal or worry.
5. Out of scope, this is a "Method TO ROOT", nothing more, nothing less.

Morning all,
Im not S-off and I'm using a pretty dated firmware..
I was told that there is a way to obtain and flash a firmware WITHOUT wiping anything and without too much fuss.
My questions:
What is the COMMAND in CMD?
Where do you find the signed firmware?
How do you identify which one to use?
What does it actually change? As the phone does work on dated firmware, more optimised?
I highly doubt I'm the only one who would benefit from this, once I know the answers I'll leave them here and I'll write a guide on how to install them step by step I'll also link the firmwares do others can help themselves.
Thanks
Currently running: Viper 3.5.0
Firmware: 1.80.401.1
S-ON

Have come mate, but I've asked some other things plus there is apparently a way to do it without the use of a tool.
This is the specific thread for firmware update.
I think you can only flash the full stock zip since you are s-on. Do take note that flashing the stock firmware.zip will wipe your internal storage.
The firmware to flash should have matching CID and MID of your device.
To check your mid and cid type this command in cmd while the device is in download mode.
fastboot getvar all

First make a backup. This will wipe your phone.
Then relock your bootloader. In fastboot fastboot oem lock
Download this RUU.zip
Rename the .zip to 2PS6IMG and place it onto your extSD
Boot to download mode and follow the prompts (vol up to flash ~ power button to reboot)
That's it. Super easy.
Delete the renamed .zip from your extSD or else every time you boot to download mode it'll try to update again.
Now unlock your bootloader again with the same bin code that HTC gave you when you first did it, or request a new one. Flash TWRP back onto your phone, then flash SuperSU or a custom ROM to regain root.
This is why I paid $25 for Sunshine.
For S-Off users, you just flash a small firmware package, and that's it. No data loss. No relocking the bootloader. No reflashing recovery. No re-rooting.
It really is worth the price in the amount of time and hassle saved through the lifetime of the phone.

OK so this is where I've heard different.. There apparently isn't any need to return to stock so think you may need to read the originating post yourself mate
Otherwise how would the tool mentioned in the second post work? Appreciate you saying all that but it doesn't help my query.
As for sunshine I completely disagree, I've had every single htc bar two since the G1 and I've had S-off on all of them where available so I know the S-off method well, and have made a lot of donations to developers over the years, I also buy all my apps and support Devs when they deserve it for apps.
In regards to sunshine, I paid for this app for my m9 less than a year ago, I get one license, I can't use this for my 10 and I'll have another phone soon so see little point, they should offer more than one unlock for £25 and the only reason why they've got away with this daylight robbery is because they've monopolised the market, I'm sure I'm not the the only person who's noticed this.
Anyway, I'll wait to hear from someone who knows about the signed firmwares and how to install them. The tool can do it, so there must be a manual way, Id prefer to do that as I've had problems with tools in the past and with firmware you really want to get it right.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm sure there is a thread somewhere here with signed firmware (there is for M8), but I don't know of it. If I did, I would have linked you there.
But you asked if anyone could give you help, so I offered you a way to do it.
Even if you find a signed firmware.zip, you'll still need to re-lock your bootloader since you are S-On.
You might as well save some time searching and just run the RUU

Actually, I have been following the method of @krassermensch's since before he started a thread about it. He posted to a different firmware thread about the method, and I've been curious about it since. In his OP he states that you need an unlocked bootloader, so his method is probably your best solution. I haven't tried it myself as I have always been S-Off on my HTC phones.

Hey guys, before I start, I have spent hours researching all the files I need for this, but I am rusty as I haven't looked at rooting since I did 5.1.1. I have about 4 links, that all explain how to root to 6.0.1, but my question is: Most all of them say you need to rollback to 5.1.1 and then start the root process from there, or start with changing the marshmallow bootloader first, etc. If I am already rooted on 5.1.1 can I just use flashfire and simply use the stock 6.0.1 firmware, or do I still need to follow all instructions? Where exactly do I need to start if I am already rooted/unlocked on 5.1.1?
Here are the links I have been looking at:

Which part are you getting stuck on? To be honest most of the guides I've seen have several unnecessary steps in them, but it does require much patience especially if you're a beginner or been out of the game for awhile. I would stick to the original thread by ryanbg and pay close attention to the first ten pages of that thread. That's when everyone was learning it at the same time and a lot of the basics are covered.

And your bootloader is locked still? If you're not sure, are you able to boot to a custom recovery (twrp)? If your bootloader is still locked you will have to use Odin and flash the bpa1 firmware to get back to lollipop (5.1.1). Once you're on 5.1.1 you can unlock and root. There currently is no other way to unlock without using 5.1.1.

Hi all,
my H810 was initially bootloader-locked, so i checked its anti-rollback version in the hidden menu (SVC Menu->Version info->Anti-rollback Version) and i got "non-fusing device".
The phone worked fine, but i hate the word "locked", so i decided to flash a H811 20o kdz with LGUP.
Flashing was successfull, so i converted my H810 to a H811 and i unlocked the bootloader
Now i have TWRP and i can flash custom roms, BUT
...
I live outside US and my device is now a T-Mobile sim-locked H811 :crying: so i can't connect to any mobile network anymore!
Now i can't check my anti-rollback version: if i try in the hidden menu i get a "com.android.phone has stopped" message and i can't see the info i need.
I also tried with the

sequence, but with the same result.
So, i have some questions for you experts:
1) there is another way to check if i have still a "non-fusing" device?
2) the anti-rollback version depends on the rom or on the hardware?
3) can i flash a H815 international kdz in order to restore network connectivity?
4) what else can i do?
thanks in advance

Hi all,
my H810 was initially bootloader-locked, so i checked its anti-rollback version in the hidden menu (SVC Menu->Version info->Anti-rollback Version) and i got "non-fusing device".
I also tried with the
Code:
*#*#244773825625#*#*
sequence, but with the same result.

1. You've must likely ruined the device by flashing H811 firmware. That is a big no on doing that.
2. Flashing H815 firmware will be the exact same never flash wrong model firmware.
3. Only way to regain network connectivity is if you flash back to H810 firmware that's meant for the device. (Hopefully you didn't loose your efs. If lost it's gone forever turning the device into a wifi only device).
Antirollback is hardware once changed by software.

Yes you can. But it's the only way to make your phone completely working again.
LGUP will/should stop you if it detects antirollback.

Oh my...
That's why I do not share in public my method fully yet. And always saying and explaining about the fuses and anti rollback.. Read my unlock PoC thread..
Yes I'm working on exactly this. You should be able to flash and so convert a device to a h811 and so be able to unlock as you already achieved. But you made a big mistake.
Two tbh.
The first was not to read my PoC thread.
The second flashing a fusing firmware!!!
I believe that autoprime was trying to help but really I heavily test all possibilities and this is not such easy and risk free.
Ok so regarding your current problem.
You're kind of lost and you can flash only firmware with the same anti rollback. But it could be worse.
Head over to my PoC thread and come to IRC.

What ... ? Proof that he screwed up his phone? Give your head a shake.
See post # 505 in steadfasterX's bootloader unlock thread. You are the type of member that needs to read it, understand, adopt it and take it to heart.

I'm beginning to think you are either reading and/or comprehension challenged. If you look beyond the title of his thread and read and actually understand what his problems are currently, paying particular attention to steadfasterX's response, he has screwed himself somewhat with what he has done. He has no mobile network connection, he is stuck on his anti-rollback version and limited to what he can do now - that is not a successful unlock or major breakthrough. Rather than posting for posting's sake and trying to achieve Senior member status with little comprehension behind you, suggest you try and learn ....
IF you had actually read and understood anything in steadfasterX's bootloader unlock thread you would know that he has achieved a SUCCESSFUL unlock of an H810.

I only read when its necessary. I read first sentence or two and then normally ignore the rest unless I really have to. I have a busy life and have better things to do than read a forum...

Boss... I read about 50% of USU method thread, understood about 90% of what I read. I'll read the rest when I actually perform it. I was wondering... whats the difference between the fastboot mode in the official unlock vs the USU method? Is it talking about the same thing??
