I use outlook.com for my emails, phone book etc. Everything was fine with my contacts on my phone, I had all the small avatars for myself and all my contacts. I've got a big problem since MS updated me to their new style Outlook.com.
All my contacts Avatars have gone and I seem to have every contact in my phone from Facebook even though I have only chosen 'Outlook' in the settings. More annoyingly I have about 300 'Unnamed' contacts appear in my contacts and none of them have any info inside. I have deleted my account on the phone and resynced and it is still the same?
Has anyone come across this and any ideas how I can get my original properly synced settings back?
I have about 300 of these empty names now,

Did you already check in Settings > Apps > Outlook if all permissions are granted. If not, delete your Outlook account, set all permissions, re-add your account.

I'm using the outlook that is in the accounts settings and not the Outlook app itself. I've got my mail, calendar and phone numbers synchronised.
Maybe I'll install the App and give it a go that way and chose that setting in the phone app to see if that sorts it.

If you guys want to know some good email apps the type mail app works great so does blue mail I use both and they rock. They have like a 4.6 or 4.7 rating not many apps get praises like that. Just thought I would mention that as I think the outlook app has a lot to be desired.

Thanks for that but it's not the email I have problems with it's the Outlook account sync problems that give me hundreds of false empty entries in my people phone book when I sync to Outlook.com. They are obviously not in there so I don't know where they are coming from. It has only happened since MS updated me to their new Outlook.com style of page.
Oh I had that issue on Tuesday with the outlook servers using Thunderbird email software I had to force close a couple times now seems to be fine all day Wednesday yesterday and still going fine.

So I got all my contacts from my TP2 bluetoothed to my EVO. Then I did the HTCSync and now have duplicate contacts. Is there an app anyone has had success with to delete duplicates? I loved the Microsoft Myphone on TP2 that I could operate online, but wouldn't mind a direct phone app. Any suggestions?
if your syncd with google, you can open the contacts within gmail and use the 'find duplicates' button.

Thank you so much for this. I want to have your babies.
Well all my contacts aren't syncing with Google, just my contacts that were already on Google. Any suggestions?
it seems you may have imported all your contacts into the "phone address book". then depending on your level of paranoia...you can leave them there or migrate them to google servers for safe keeping.
assuming you are connected to an exchange server...if you are not, then simply ignore any references to it.
on the EVO...export all available contacts to file (should be two or three csv files when you are done. (google address book, phone address book, exchange address book).
you can import them into google and then use the 'find duplicates' tool and whatnot to clean up the list. do the same with your exchange by cleaning up your Outlook Contacts. not sure why you'd want to the local phones address list or the best way to manage it.
viola. cleaned up contacts. syncing to both exchange and gmail. this way you can finally remove your private/personal contacts from exchange and/or your work contacts from your personal gmail account.
Another alternative is a new service from Scrubly. The service scans and removes duplicate contacts from your Outlook, Gmail and Google Apps accounts. The nice thing about this service is that it gives you the option of viewing the contacts to be merged in advance and picking and choosing the info you want to merge so you have complete control over the merged data. It also keeps a backup of your contacts.
i Can't Thank You Enough Mann !!!

I've read the forum and other forums in relation to this issue but I cannot find a fix.
We are using Exchange 2007 and previously (ICS) I could receive all emails/contacts/etc. on my GNex. Now, after the JB Update I cannot receive my contacts. My emails are coming through, and I can send emails, but my contacts will not sync.
Anyone else had (and fixed) this issue? Is there a setting on the Exchange Server I need to change? Am I missing something?
I've tried to leave the port cell (when adding an account on android) blank, but that doesn't solve the issue.
I've also tried to set the days to sync and sync frequency to Automatic and all the other options available, no good.
Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance!
P.S. The JB Update I refer to is all the custom roms available. I've tried bigxie, ARHD, and the rest (except CM10).
Working fine for me. Same experience as in ICS.
In fact I wasn't able to configure exchange settings on ICS 4.0.2 as it use to be just be in the refresh mode n no mails nor contacts ever got downloaded. However its working fine on JB 4.1.1 with the server policy getting enforced along with encryption being set.

Which ROM are you using?
Waking this thread up.
Just noticed on my Nexus with JB (stock ROM) that my Exchange 2007 contacts have disappeared. Have removed the account from the phone, removed the phone from the server (I'm the Exchange admin) to no avail. Email and calendar work fine, just no contacts.
Found this issue on Google so there seems to be a bug in JB causing this: http://code.google.com/p/android/is...ts&colspec=ID Type Status Owner Summary Stars

You do not need to be an admin to remove from exchange, login to OWA and click options, Mobile Devices.

Yes. Good point. Try remove and re add. I don't have admin access to our Exchange server, but I had absolutely no trouble moving from ICS to JB. All works perfectly...

LOL I know that, just didn't want to portray myself as a dumb end user. I'm the baddass Exchange admin here
Problem I'm facing is somewhat similar though more erratic.
I'm synching with exchange 2003. All works fine for 6 days but on every saturday all my exchange contacts disappear. Doesn't resynch either. I have to delete the account and set it up again for the synch to complete. Only every Saturday.
Any clue anyone? Please?

Is there an app or methodology to get Facebook birthdays to sync to the birthday field in your contacts? I know how to add them to my calendar, or have a third-party app display them. I want them to be added to the actual contact record of a person.
Also, is there an app that allows you to add a location to a calendar event by contact. For example, I have my doctor's address in my phone, and would love to be able to select his name to add to events. If this is possible with Google Calendar or S Planner, please describe the steps to accomplish this.
Haxsync is the best, check it out...

If you're on JB you need the workaround for it which is this...

Every Facebook syncing app only syncs a contact's birthday to your calendar...he wants a way to have their birthday under their contact info. I don't think there's a way to automatically do it..but if you have some time you could manually add them. Just..
Edit contact > add new field > event

Well doesn't misreading just suck, lol.
Right, I want it as an event under contacts, but the manual process is what I'm trying to avoid. This seems like a pretty simple idea (as long as contacts have the same name.) Don't know why it's more difficult than adding to a calendar. I guess it's related to the fact that when you sync Facebook contacts their birthdays are not there also.
Haxsync seems to put the birthday under contacts as well its a setting in advanced

I'm looking for an application where my wife and I can synchronize our schedules on a Google calendar but with two different user accounts. For example she is working on a Saturday 7 am – 2 PM. She puts it into a calendar and then I will have it synced to my calendar is that even possible?
Never mind. I added her Gmail account to my phone and then I clicked sync calendar
Worked great

Can also just share calendar from the Google website. Can share with anyone and control write privileged without giving complete access.

Yes, what you've done is going too far and complete overkill. As stated above, just go to the Google Calendar Website, on your pc or Mac, and go to Settings and share your calendar with her. Then go into her Google account and have her share her calendar with you. It will then be visible in your calendar list on your phones to sync.
You are eating unnecessary resources on your phone by doing it the way you are now.

There is another app Acalender that i like a little better personally and if your family is like mine Ourgroceries is a great grocery list app that can be synced. I thought it would be kinda dumb but it works really well. use it all the time.

Three are lots of good alternative email apps. A few to look at are Cloud Magic, TypeMail, and Mailwise. I. Have tried all three of these with my corporate Exchange account and they work fine.

thanks, i reached out to them.
figured it out, it's because of 2 step authentication. since asus is not using the "new" login method for Microsoft, it doesn't try at all to attempt 2 step authentication so it fails. disable 2 step in security and app works now. add 2 step back and app still works.
