Please can a mod sticky this - please record any issues with recall exchanged devices ONLY. Thanks
Start message with BOOTLOOP or OTHER ISSUE.
It will be interesting to see whether the bootloop issue goes away with exchanges.
I'm only getting my exchanged unit this Sunday. I've been without my Note 7 for four days now, after bootloops bricked my phone. So it bricks before my battery exploded.
I'm keeping a very close eye on this thread.

I'm suspecting other issues may be present...I really hope not though. The damage that would do to Samsung...
Bad performance could be related to battery problems. I own N7 exynox and had no problem with the device. Now I'm waiting for the replace phone.

I think all those problems are battery related
Scheduled for an exchange on the morning of 17 Sep. Hopefully I'll have nothing to report here. Fingers crossed.
Well the first problem I've found...

Cannot access s health or Samsung secure folder apparently caused by unauthorised software. No root. Just installed all apps that were on the previous note 7. Any ideas appreciated. I've emailed Samsung

Some people have suggested plugging it into smart switch via pc or mac and running an initialisation and firmware recovery. Saw someone suggest it could be some battery testing software that Samsung have used before shipping and not taken back off. So a reinstallation should sort it. I can't verify personally as I'm STILL awaiting a replacement device but there's a few people with your issue it seems
Trying it now thanks

... in openIng my Nexus 7 (2013) with nothing but my left thumbnail.
I had mentioned in another post that I had basically got it opened previously just while mindlessly fiddling with it.
This time, I purposely fully removed the back.
My point is:
If it is this easy to remove the back, using no tools, can Google/Asus possibly void warranties for removing the back?
I have several smartphones that essentially open the same way. The only difference with my Huawei u9508 is that there is a small, partial cut-out in one corner where you put your fingernail to get started.
Voiding the warranty by opening the Huawei is obviously nonsensical since you have to remove the back to install the SIM card.
I can demonstrate this, and show that other devices open the same way. There are no warnings on the device that removing the back will void the warranty.
Just say you were looking for the SIM slot or SD card slot.
Also, given how easy it is, and the fact that mine is back together with no marks/cracks/gaps at all, I would recommend that anyone having wireless charging problems, go ahead and clean the contacts. I cleaned mine while I was in there.
Congratulations.

We see you meow on our nexus⁴ can we haz some more?
Prolly voids your warranty. Just cuz you can use an appendage does not mean it doesn't void your warranty. No different than taking a screwdriver or some other tool to it.

Dude, can you post pics of the back, I don't think I am gonna take my back off but I wanna know what it looks like back there.

I Fix It has an (excellent as always) teardown here:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+7+2nd+Generation+Teardown/16072/1
Hey all, Search is not working for me, and I am in need of some help. Been using this Epic Touch for 2 years, but running custom ROMS for over a year.
I installed CM 10.1 official on my phone in September, and have had no issues since... Until this week.
I had had occasional reboots, but had one today, where the reboot then froze on the Samsung GSII logo. From what I know now (after googling), this is a soft brick. Not sure if i did something wrong by doing this, but just thinking it was a random reboot and brief issue, I rebooted again by holding power key...
This time, only the Blue LED comes on (steady), and the screen is completely black.
Again, I wasn't doing ANYTHING at the time this happened. Was not installing a ROM, was just charging phone when it went into the random reboot.
Is there anything I can do? I have insurance, but just ordered a LG G2 upgrade, so am only weeks away from a new phone. Don't want to pay the deductible for a phone i'll only have 2 weeks.
Thanks so much, guys.
Hmm, on the TEP site to even process a claim, only options are Water Damage, Physical Damage, Lost, Stolen.
So I guess I may have another option due to software failure? I'll head into a Sprint store and see what I can do.
So you have tried pulling the battery and going into recovery or download mode and flashing a new ROM?

Couldn't get to recovery. Just black screen. Seemed to be a complete brick, probably emmc.
I took it to a sprint store and they replaced it, free of charge, saying the board was completely gone.

Unfortunately they do happen. Nothing can be done about it with this phone, they're already out of production.

Yeah, they actually had an E4GT in the store to give me, so i barely waited 30 minutes.
I'm just gonna leave it stock for now, until I get my G2.
Just very weird that I hadn't flashed anything in weeks (almost 2 months), and it crapped out.
I've noticed a sharp decline in battery. With only 35 minutes of screen on I've already lost 11%. In this case, index service seems to be using a lot of battery, but this is the first time I noticed that. I was getting like 7 hours of screen on, now I'm getting about 5.

IndexService works hard when you add new docs/books, it scans all of them, then it should go away. For some reason it didn't find 1 or more files on my SD card, kept scanning for hours. Did you add anything new to tablet?

I downloaded a powerpoint and then converted it to a pdf. It seems like it just won't stop. Everyone I look at its running time it is increasing.

I restarted and now it seems like index service is still running frequently, but no longer nonstop. Regardless of index service my battery still seems to be worse by 2 hours. It was awesome for the first couple weeks and now its just average. I don't even have that many apps.

if you're rooted just freeze the indexer.

I'm holding off for rooting until Knox is circumvented. Plus I don't see recoveries or custom Roms yet so I don't have all that much incentive.

Hello. I recently purchased a Nexus 7 2013 model. For the first couple of days, it worked flawlessly. However, while it was charging today while on, I attempted to use it and experienced white vertical lines on the screen. After powering down and restarting, the lines disappeared. However, the vertical lines reappeared after a couple of minutes.
I have attached pictures for reference.
Is this normal? Or is this a hardware defect? Your thoughts are most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I dont see anything normal in that ;(
Maybe its not hardware problem - some more advanced user should look into this problem...
Tapnięte z mojego Galaxy S3
That's most likely a hardware defect, assuming it has warranty you should be able to replace it.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will return it to the seller.
Actually, the lines are colored as well. Photos attached to OP. If anyone believes it is a software issue, please let me know. I already tried a factory reset.
Thanks!

That looks like hardware problem. Could be as simple as loose cable.
Thanks for the reply. Decided to just return it. I don't know why, but I have a lot of pairs with the Asus items I have purchased. ?

Im in need of major help, i tried looking on the forums everywhere else but the questions were similar, but had different answers.
anyways my problem is that was looking around in the hidden menu on my LG G3 (AT&T)(D850) and things were going pretty well, ran some test, all passed, but then i got to the "Update touch firmware" option. and naturally (since i like to be up to date) i clicked on it, it froze then said wait 10 sec, so i did and nothing happened, in-fact the message never went away until after some time, then the screen turns off and i tried to unlock my phone using my pin and long and behold, touch input would not work... so it has to be something with what i did, because it worked fine before. what can i do about this or is all hope lost and should i just live in a cave? :crying:
UPDATE
touch input still works, but with a large amount of delay, i have to hold down the button for it to register.... maybe it has something to do with sensitivity ?

no, but you do have a dead area on your screen, usually its related to hardware and can sometimes be fixed, all be it a barbaric method, other times it software related, but from the looks of the pic, it seems hardware related, so you might be at a loss, now im not expert, but that's what i read around here on the forums while trying to find a fix for my phone.
ill put a link for a possible method that could work, its worth a try at least.

hey, i got the same problem a week ago. i had a dead zone on my g3 d855.
i tried the method above, smartphone was fixed for couple of hours, but it came back.
So i sent in my g3 to repair service and they changed the LCD. Today it came back and everything seems fixed now.
I don`t know, there was a report paper and there they said, the "fail" was initiated by the battery.....
