Hello, guys!
I have Vibe P1a42 with Marsmallow S288 rooted+twrp+unlocked bootloader. Everything works nice.
I have some questions.
How to enable ums transfer mode for external usb storage (sd card)? I tried UMS universal enabler, but it doesn't work.
Can anybody suggest how to change dpi? Can I simply modify ro.sf.lcd.density in build.prop?
Will it work? Where can I find the file in twrp? Should I edit it directly in android or in twrp?
Which dpi does the system support?

As i know it's not possible on new phones.Android system is checking files via mtp.
Thank you for reply. Yes I have already understood about UMS.
Does anybody know anything about the second question? Is it possible to edit system files directly and change dpi?

Sorry for late reply. Just take a backup of that file than change the value of dpi. If doesn't works just replace file via twrp.

You can download it here (S288):
https://yadi.sk/d/hY3kNWJGrnpCU
Here it is the explanation (in Russian, use Google Translate):
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=703249&st=2840#entry51983275
Also you should read the link of the previous post.
In brief, you should flash at first S288 Rom (with rawprogram.xml),
then reboot and apply your region,
after that reboot to qpst mode and flash rawprogram-aboot-twrp.xml (I don't remember exact file name),
hold vol-up and vol-down in the end of the second stage flashing to enter in recovery mode.
In Twrp you can flash supersu.zip (it should be placed in sd card before).
So you phone will get rooted Marshmallow with unlocked bootloader and twrp.
Good luck.

Thank you for reply. What dpi, device and android firmware have you tested?
I'd like to be confident because I'm tired of bootlooping and numerous reflashing.

here are the specs of both devices:

http://www.sogi.com.tw/mobile/pad/products/10975/spec-ASUS+Fonepad+7+LTE+ME7230CL
Everything relating cpu, memory, display size etc seems the same.
For as far I've seen the only differences are : bluetooth version, LTE and android version.
I think in the worst case you will just keep having the bootloop, or you won't be able to use LTE and/or bluetooth the way it should..
Either way, I don't take any responsibility's on me, but if it were me I would try it.
I searched for the specific rom for your device but I can't seem to find one...

try the 2 official one at the bottom of the post, the complete bottom.
There is an official one for both sku versions.
If you would expect any raw to work, it would be the official from asus, no?
If you get one of these two to work, quickly make nandroid backup and then you can continu to flash the one you want, perhaps via official update or so

2. Reflash recovery via fastboot.
How?

Install HiSuite (it will install drivers for your device), ADB on your PC.
Unlock bootloader if you did not.
Extract recovery image from your actual firmware, using Huawei Update Extractor.
Flash recovery via fastboot by the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
You can find in this forum how to accomplish every step.

huawei p6s seems to have a rollback action even when you are rooted.
You cannot delete any system app because they are restored when you restart your phone. In addition, you cannot edit build.prop, as you are not allowed to save the file. Do you know Kostyan_nsk what we should do to change permissions?
P.S. I have rooted the phone and I have flashed TWRP.

I tried in every way to extract the KDZ , but without success , it seems that the old tutorials do not work in the new KDZ :crying:

What are u guys doing. I just use build prop editor. I has a ls991. I dont have to dimp my system image.
Sorry apparantly i didnt read. Didnt see no root
The idea is sound, as the bootloader lock should only check for an unmodified boot image (kernel).
Theoretically you could install exposed, etc. on the image. I had it in mind to build something for the Canadian variant once I have time.
Yes, the Sprint LG G4 staff even has a modified system.img marshmallow . I believe I'm 90 % of been way , just need to figure out how to get permission to move the system.img from / sdcard / to my PC.
Check out the low effort root thread, there are commands for dumping the system partition for each model. You'll then need a Linux distribution installed to mount and modify the image. There are also instructions for flashing modified system image back to the phone in the thread through download mode commands. Be very careful you are using the right command for your model.
If I have time I'll try to get more details to you but you should be able to find everything you need right here on XDA.
Thank you so much guys! I managed to extract and edit the system.img on ubuntu and I've done the flash. Everything working 100% , finally my phone seems to have 5.5 -inch true. I'm using 530dpi now modified in build.prop without adb bugs (Marshmallow ROM)

Your IMEI number is written on the back of the phone, under the battery. Write it into the box on this website: http://www.imeipro.info/check_lg.html
The third line tells you your phone's model. Mine is H815, for example.
Then search XDA/Google for Kdz file.
Failing that, use the LGUP tool to restore your phone. You're not the first to have this problem and everything has been answered before if you search for it.

The third line tells you your phone's model. Mine is H815, for example.
Then search XDA/Google for Kdz file.
Failing that, use the LGUP tool to restore your phone. You're not the first to have this problem and everything has been answered before if you search for it.

is there any way to get into twrp recovery while in bootloop?
Below you will find my procedure to root the SM-J730G/GM Galaxy J7 Pro - Exynos 7870
(may also work for J730F, see post #3)
This procedure has been tested on J730GMDXU1AQF8 firmware. It may work for future releases or it may not.
If an updated firmware becomes available my advice is to update with FLASHFIRE to maintain root.
DISCLAIMER: YOU FLASH THESE AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE KNOX COUNTER WILL BE TRIPPED AND WILL POTENTIALLY VOID YOUR WARANTY. HAVING THE STOCK FIRMWARE TO HAND IS ALSO ADVISED
NOTE: BEFORE MAKING MODIFICATIONS, ON SOME ANDROID 5.1.1/6.0/7.0 DEVICES IT IS NECESSARY TO GO TO:
Settings -> Developer Options -> OEM unlocking
AND ENABLE OEM UNLOCK FIRST OR YOU MAY ENCOUNTER 'BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK' WHEN FLASHING.
Instructions:
◘ 1. Download the files below:
sm-j730gm_SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3_root_boot_32
ODIN 3.12
SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones
◘ 2. Install the USB driver and ODIN to Windows.
◘ 3. Boot your device to RECOVERY mode then select FACTORY RESET. THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE AND YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA. (This procedure is required to remove encryption or your device won't boot)
◘ 4. From RECOVERY, IMMEDIATELY Boot your device to DOWNLOAD mode then connect your USB cable. (DO NOT LET YOUR DEVICE REBOOT NORMALLY OR YOUR DEVICE WILL RE-ENCRYPT)
◘ 5. Run ODIN and place the sm-j730gm_SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3_root_boot_32.tar file as is in the AP slot. Don't change any options and hit START.
◘ 6. Wait for the device to flash and reboot.
◘ 7. Install the SuperSU apk from Play store and you should be rooted.
◘ 8. Have fun!

Sir, flashing zips thru Flashfire? I Hope TWRP will be released soooon.
works for 730F
Hi ashyx, thanks you! I can confirm that this method is working for the J7 730F/DS model whith Version J730FXXU1AQF4.
Does anyone know why the bloatware can not uninstall on Android 7 Nougat? I have rooted my J730G and use Link2SD app to uninstall the default apps, but the apps can not remove. I can use link2sd app on Android 6 Marshmallow to remove default app.
I use System App Remover from Playstore.

I mean, will the TWRP work for G/DS?
I'm sorry for messing the thread...
I know the modified boot.img will work for G/DS.
But Oves said flashing TWRP and wipe data will make it work ( Correct me if I'm wrong)

As long as the variants don't differ in CPU/SoC (Qualcomm/Exynos), with Samsung it never was a big deal to use twrp from a "brother" model. Always make a backup first before flashing critical system parts and keep the original odin flash file in handy.
Thanks. Now I know sir.

Hi. I read through this new thread, and the original thread by Oves (India) who was working on the root for the J730G/DS as well. @ashyx love the work, thank you very much. But when I click on the 32 bit root file on androidfilehost.com it gives me a 404 error, file not found.
I think the link is either broke, or the file has been removed. If people are reading the old thread, they may eventually make there way here to find the updated file.
Can you please repost the link for the proper file? Thanks again for all your hard work!

It hasn't been removed it's still working just checked.
Maybe try a different browser or disable any ad blockers.
That is strange, I still can't get it to work via Chrome or Firefox. I just tried it now on my mobile, same thing.
This is the link from the browser:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298979779"
Well, no worries, I'm sure somehow I will figure it out. I'm using the link on the first page of this thread for the 32 bit file.
