You can dump your system.img from device using Send_Command.exe and edit build.prop inside the image

yeah, i had thought about it . However, I don't now which commands use to extract and flashing the image back . I did something similar to flash the root img when I was using the lollipop .
I tried to extract the .cab file to get system.img within the KDZ , but he always gives error. I am following some guides on how to extract files .kdz .

I could not find anywhere else on how to extract the system.img image from my phone using send_comand .
I tried in every way to extract the KDZ , but without success , it seems that the old tutorials do not work in the new KDZ :crying:
I managed to pull the system.img to my folder of the phone. I can see the file, but I get an error when copying it to the PC. I used the following code
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=8192 skip=55296 count=529920 of=/data/media/0/system.img

When trying to copy by using adb pull , he says I 'm not allowed . The file is in the / sdcard / .
What are u guys doing. I just use build prop editor. I has a ls991. I dont have to dimp my system image.
Sorry apparantly i didnt read. Didnt see no root
The idea is sound, as the bootloader lock should only check for an unmodified boot image (kernel).
Theoretically you could install exposed, etc. on the image. I had it in mind to build something for the Canadian variant once I have time.
Yes, the Sprint LG G4 staff even has a modified system.img marshmallow . I believe I'm 90 % of been way , just need to figure out how to get permission to move the system.img from / sdcard / to my PC.
Check out the low effort root thread, there are commands for dumping the system partition for each model. You'll then need a Linux distribution installed to mount and modify the image. There are also instructions for flashing modified system image back to the phone in the thread through download mode commands. Be very careful you are using the right command for your model.
If I have time I'll try to get more details to you but you should be able to find everything you need right here on XDA.
Thank you so much guys! I managed to extract and edit the system.img on ubuntu and I've done the flash. Everything working 100% , finally my phone seems to have 5.5 -inch true. I'm using 530dpi now modified in build.prop without adb bugs (Marshmallow ROM)
I took the trip and already and enabled all apps in double window too!

I checked before, xposed without root should be okay, just need to replace the correct file on the system image.
I will replace and pasted the files downloaded from Xposed .zip. From what I saw in the scripts, there is no line to be added. But I will not have time for flash in this week ..

There needs to be one of these for all models. Can you possibly make it available for the Verizon's lg g2?

So first we unzip ur rom, then we use that tot/kdz extractor tool n extract the vs980 kdz/tot and replace all the img files from ur rom w the img files from the vs980 kdz then zip it back up right?
edit: oh also does this wipe internal storage like actually flashing a tot/kdz or do you keep the stuff on data/media?
Yes this is correct.
And by doing this will wipe everything, the same as flashing kdz

EDIT 1: Well, got some good news to report, on the 4.1.2 firmware for the Xperia M SS all 3 recoveries boot as expected (I haven't tested them). I will test on the 4.2.2 Xperia M DS firmware tomorrow morning.
EDIT 2: Some more good news, on the 4.2.2 firmware for the Xperia M DS only thw CWM and philZ recoveries boot as expected, I can't seem to install TWRP as I keep getting protocol errors in the installer. Again, I haven't tested them.

Follow instruction on screen.
Don't forget to allow the pc, to access adb on the phone.
And allow adb shell in superSU.
How to boot the recovery:
Whatever which the recovery you use. Here the way.
Power off the phone. And then turn it on.
Wait until the pink LED is shown.
Press the vol up button, 1 second after the pink LED is shown.
Then the phone should boot to the recovery.
Mini FAQ:
Q: the phone not shown the pink LED
A: please check this files are in the right folder/directory.
/system/xbin/busybox
/system/bin/recovery.tar
/system/bin/recovery.sh
and this's script type file /system/bin/e2fsck
the original file is renamed to /system/bin/e2fsck.bin
This method is for PhilZ Touch or Stock CWM 6.0.4.9? I see in this thread.. Can we try this to Xperia M Dual? Because XMD have PhilZ Recovery now.. Thanks in advance..
Sorry For My Bad English :fingers-crossed:
Maybe the problem of it not running stems from /mnt/idd and /SDCard (External), I'm suggesting this because I cannot find them on the partion listing of my device. Or maybe that's just me being an idiot.
Just been looking through the init.qcom.sh file in the recovery.tar folder and I have found it asks for "baseband='cat ro.baseband'", however the closest I can get to that is ro.si.version.sw_revision.
Have you changed the mountpoints about accordingly in the .fstab files in the recovery.tar /etc/ folder? That could also be another reason.
Also, take a look at the default.prop in the recovery.tar folder, that has all the Xperia L specs and stuff in it.

The file in attachment is stock CWM 6.0.4.9 XMS.
Of course we can port it to XMD, but now the method isnt working.
In near future maybe we can have both rec. like Xperia L, now have stock cwm and philz.

Hi Bro.
I thinks its only output some error if the partition is not found, and continue the batch process anyway.
I was compared the init.qcom.sh file with same file from Xperia L,and i found the different only in line like this
Code:
from xperia m cwm
chmod -h 775 /data/system/sensors
from cwm xperia L
chmod 775 /data/system/sensors
and some more line contain chmod command
In Linux "chmod -h" mean will print the help page of that command.
Please let me clear this, the recovery.tar file is taken from stock CWM for xperia M single, not from xperia L.
And of course the mountpoint is correct according to partition in xperia M.
And about the default.prop file its same with stock cwm for xperia M, please take alook into it.
Thanks for your reply
Code:
Note:
I must clear its, the recovery.tar file is taken from Working CWM that currently used by many kernel for xperia M single.

Btw i do this project is for users who have locked bootlader permanently, and of course not all user adb friendly.
For me i have Bootloader unlock allowed=yes but not unlocked yet
Just had a look at the files you have attached and I think it is the .fstab files what need editing properly to get it into a bootable state. However I am unsure so don't assume I am right.

Just had a look to the default.prop file in the recovery.rar you have attached in the first post. I am correct in assuming that this recovery was extracted from the Pac ROM? The default.prop has a lot of values relating to that in it. That may be another issue.

1) Remove all unique properties to Pac ROM & any other custom ROM information.
2) Remove any values to the properties what contain Pac ROM and custom ROM values (possibly populating them with stock values?).
3) Get the original default.prop from the firmware we want to use and insert that into the recovery.tar instead (I don't think this will work as the one I found on my device is hardly populated).
If anything a mixture of all three may be appropriate.

You're asking for troubles guys.
First of all, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not experienced with fastboot yet. You have root and rom with busybox, regardless if stock or not. Isn't it possible to simply just flash proper boot.img in kernel block? Bootloader is required to use fastboot and flash unsigned images, by using root in the ROM you're not touching bootloader at all. And including custom recovery in stock boot.img is pretty damn easy.
Second thing, you're trying to do potentially dangerous thing. Dangerous as hell, this can lead to pretty serious filesystem corruptions, as lazy unmounting (umount -l) is never safe. I have knowledge about what you're trying to do, as I included pocket debian in my ArchiDroid since ages and it also uses chroot capability, but it extends android, not trying to hack it and run remote code. Killing services, unmounting filesystems and patching things is not proper thing to do.

I have added a debug code to e2fsck.sh and recovery.sh, just to make sure all command are execute and see the output if there something wrong.
The result of e2fsck.sh is there not something wrong its just run as is must.
And same with recovery.sh it run ok to the end off the script, chroot command.
After chroot command i cant make the log.
Maybe this recovery will run on stock JB 4.2 like in Xperia L.

Please... read my OP carefully.
I see @Rachit Rawat and @[Nut} have successfully add recovery to stock rom Jb 4.2 for xperia L and Xperia Z too with locked bootloader condition.
May i try to explain, with this method we just hijack the boot process of stock kernel, stock ramdisk to boot our custom boot script to launch the recovery. just like that. and about the unmout -l (lazy unmout) its to unmount every mountpoint that was mounted by original ramdisk so before the recovery launch its clean from mountpoint of original ramdisk.
Please check @Rachit Rawat thread here

Everything relating cpu, memory, display size etc seems the same.
For as far I've seen the only differences are : bluetooth version, LTE and android version.
I think in the worst case you will just keep having the bootloop, or you won't be able to use LTE and/or bluetooth the way it should..
Either way, I don't take any responsibility's on me, but if it were me I would try it.

try the 2 official one at the bottom of the post, the complete bottom.
There is an official one for both sku versions.
If you would expect any raw to work, it would be the official from asus, no?
If you get one of these two to work, quickly make nandroid backup and then you can continu to flash the one you want, perhaps via official update or so

Thats really sad im still waiting to root my phone. But support for H815 SEA is very low :crying::crying:
I have a Taiwanese version...I have root. I wanted a different rom as well so I installed MS7's rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/h815-eu-l-p-t-sea-twn-t3176195
Pretty sure you can root that model check the easy root method. Im on H185T Australian and have root

But i need confirmation from a SEA variant holder.
Sent from my LG-H815
As I understand it the low effort root works with the SEA variant. Is there any downsides to flashing the EU image on the SEA device?
I'm a SEA variant holder here.
It's fine, you can use the Low Effort Root method. You can also flash the EU open KDZ without any problem.
You lose VoLTE, but to me it doesn't matter so I don't really care.
I'm running the latest 10E ATM, and it's much much better than 10B, so flash away.
If you don't want to loose anything you have to inject root yourself. You need linux for this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
This guide describes how to backup your system partition to an img file.
Then you have to use linux to inject root. You will get a rooted img file.
You can then copy the file back to your system partition.
If you want to check your "dd" parameters, you can use my guide to calculate your values:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/how-to-determine-dd-parameters-lg-g4-t3184867
IMPORTANT:
Backup your files before doing this steps!
If you don't know what you are doing, wait for someone else to do it.
Download the kdz for your phone, so you can flash the stock rom if it doesn't work.
Do you have some experience with linux?
SEA Variant user here. Singapore set also. No issues when flashing in regards to rooting part.
If you just want to root, you could just take up flashing either via the Low Effort Root, or you could go for alternatives like the rooted system image that I have created or others, but make sure they are using EU OPEN KDZ in case of conflicting basebands and such.
And if you are going to upgrade to 10d/10e, I'd suggest downloading the KDZ, normal flash it, so that you can get your baseband and kernel updated before flashing the root image of your choice.

This is not a how to root a kdz.
This is how to root the system.img.
I know the guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62704051&postcount=9
I think you know what the difference is?
The kdz is a packed file which contains system, modem, boot,... files.
The system.img is an raw image of the system partition.
To root a kdz, you had to unpack it, inject root, repack it, create new checksums,....
That's a complex precess...
So I guess you don't know how to root a kdz?

You can download the latest version as a kdz.
Use this link and enter your IMEI:
Code:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=IMEI
You will get a download link.
Type
csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=
instead of
pkg03.lime.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=
to download the file.
Then you can use the LG Flash Tool to flash the kdz to your phone.
You will loose root. Don't know if you have root.
You will have to root you phone again, but with the appropriate system img.
(Or inject root yourself...)
Thank you
I tried and I got "/H81510B_00.kdz"
Same as what i have now
???
I don't have root yet anyway but wanted the latest os available.
Don't know why the latest does not appear

For your info, creating a rooted KDZ is currently not possible. If it was people would have done it already. And yes I do know the procedures to unpacking and repacking a KDZ for your info If it was possible to done it, I wouldn't be posting rooted images of just the system image itself and would have provided people with the rooted KDZ to save their time And also from what I know, I don't think there is any way for you to apply a root package in a KDZ and flash it together due to the modified md5 sum and such.

Then it seems that only V10b is available for your phone.
Other users flashed the EU image which is 10e.
But why do you need an update?
If everything is working fine you shouldn't need an update.
Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to take a few days to digest. If I can ask a quick question without starting a new thread. Does the adb backup, backup the system partition as well or just data and apps?

No adb backup can not backup your system partition.
It can only backup program settings, apps and data.
To backup your system partition, you need (the Send_Command.exe and) the "dd" command.
I have already rooted using the low effort root method. Used a pre-rooted system image. Still on 10b-SEA. everything works fine. Xposed is also working.

NEW software!!!!!...... LGUP WILL FLASH YOUR KDZ files
Download LGUP from here http://www.filedropper.com/g4 or here https://www.dropbox.com/s/d2dw48uqh4hku8m/G4.rar?dl=0 or here http://oceanhost.eu/eps4h4pmwphu/LGUP.zip.htm thank you hyelton for this link :good:
Install LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23 first and then LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3
Make sure you have downloaded the required KDZ file MM or LP
Start LGUP prog on your computer "make sure your phone is plugged in"
ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE WITH LGUP NOT SEEING YOUR MOBILE?
Try this....... take the back off your mobile so you can get at the battery. Connect your mobile via USB. Start LGUP, if it does not see your phone DO NOT DISCONECT, DO NOT RESTART OR TURN OFF LGUP. Take out the battery and then put it back in.......let the phone restart on its own. LGUP should now see it.
THANK YOU FOR THIS Killerdog:good: <~~~To Modify This File You Must Have Root!!
For me it's show in LGUP as unknow device.
reboot my phone, remove battery and anything else don't work.
I install LG Bridge to test, and nothing seem to work.
After make some test and search, i find some info modified by S3V3N into his rom (cust partition) that he have modify into this file:
/cust/OPEN_COM/cust_OPEN_EU.prop
Code:
ro.lge.swversion=[COLOR="Red"]some info[/COLOR]
ro.lge.swversion_short=[COLOR="Red"]some info[/COLOR]
change to
Code:
ro.lge.swversion=[COLOR="Red"]H81510c[/COLOR]
ro.lge.swversion_short=[COLOR="Red"]V10c[/COLOR]
restart my phone and woow it show correctly in LGUP and i can refurbish my phone.
TO UPGRADE TO MM from LP - make sure BIN file is ticked and in the File Path point it towards the MM KDZ you have downloaded. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CLICKED UPGRADE! This will update you from LP to MM with out wiping any of your info. Press Start. Make cup of tea and be patient
TO DO A FULL WIPE AND INSTALL MM - Open the LGUP on your computer. FILE PATH point it towards the MM KDZ.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!! shut down LGUP!
Now open LGUP again - you will notice that the MM KDZ will still be showing in the FILE PATH section. Select REFURBISH and make sure BIN file is ticked. Press Start. Make cup of tea and be patient
TO GO BACK TO LP FROM MM - Open LGUP on your computer, click on FILE PATH and point it towards your LP KDZ. Close LGUP and re-open LGUP. Make sure you select REFURBISH this will do a full wipe, tick BIN file. Press Start. Make cup of tea and be patient
If you are worried about losing your data after a full wipe, why not use the LG Bridge software to backup and restore.... it works fine!
YOU WILL LOSE ROOT!
There is no need to enter download mode! LGUP will do it for you.

INSTALL TWRP
Make sure you have ADB and Fastboot installed.
I always put TWRP.img in the ADB folder - so if I want to boot into TWRP with out installing it this is what I do:
make sure you open a command prompt in the ADB folder "VERY IMPORTANT" and type:
adb reboot bootloader <enter>
fastboot boot TWRP.img <whatever your TWRP image is called in your ADB folder><enter> dont forget the .img at the end
That will re-start your phone straight into TWRP - You can transfer files to and from your computer while in recovery.
If you want to install TWRP permanently, copy your TWRP image to your mobile "while you are in TWRP RECOVERY mode" then press install then select images then select recovery NOT BOOT then swipe to flash. This method does not install TWRP app on your phone, all you need is a reboot app from the play store that will re-boot you into recovery.

Not sure but I'll put that in the op cheers.
Do you need root so use this method to upgrade to marshmallow ?
H81520A_00.Kdz flashed (by upgrade option) succesfully. It takes 10-15 mins(longest part is "android upgrading" screen.), and i lost root access. By the way root access is not necessary for upgrade.
So since it wasn't clarified, I'll be the one to ask...
Will this work on a unit without root (which is yes according to the OP), and without a bootloader unlock, ie the Taiwan (TWN) variant of the H815.
I completely understand it's a complete wipe and root will not be retained.
I would also like to know about this..... will it work on a unit with a locked bootloader... TWN variant?
downloaded from a different mirror re flashed no problems
