I have a 200gb right now and still have plenty of room but the read/write speed right now is only 65.94/11.61 mbps. I'm not sure if I want to open the 256 card from Samsung if the speed is the same. I don't need more room right now.
Had anyone used theirs yet and have more than 100gb of data already on it? How's the speed?
I used an app called 1AD SD bench to test speed and this is the result on my 200gb SanDisk.

At the time it looked good on paper. And it was the only 200gb around. This is actually my 2nd one. My note 4 got wet and it killed the 1st card but my phone was fine. Maybe the Samsung one will be more durable. It looks like it's definitely faster.

So I've decided to buy a 16gB or a 32gB card depending on the price - compatibility/performance ratio.

You should read the thread then.... the title is about a fail, but not the rest.
Wouldn't you want to learn more about what fails? I guess not.
look for a card with a good class rating of 6 or 10 and comes with a good warranty 5+ years.
16gb seem to have a lower failure rate

I dropped a class 4 16gb into mine, I just couldn't resist a $14 dollar sd card
where did you get that deal?
Bout 2 weeks ago I went into one of the local phone stores, they had an open box memory card with a $14 dollar price tag on it that said it was 4gb memory card. I didn't argue the price, cuz the card clearly said 16gb
So I inserted my 32GB class10 Patriot into my phone. It detected the card for 5secs, and then said card removed. I tried moving the card around, but nothing. Also tried rebooting the phone.
T_T
EDIT: Kept sliding it around and my phone detects it now, although the format option is greyed out.
EDIT2: no go. After putting the cover back on, it says card removed.

Sd card speeds are averages they will never be consistent, especially when testing in your phone as background apps could be using it while the test is running. To get the most accurate results its best to test them in a pc

Typically you see the big spikes while benching on the phone cuz something in the background starts reading or writing from the sd and takes priority over the benchmark app. If you test it in a pc it would be more consistent but still varying a bit. Theres just no real way to stop the phone from using the card to get an accurate test. Best way would be to do it on a cleanly installed rom with no 3rd party apps installed. It's just the way android works unfortunately if something needs to use the sd card it will automagically take priority over the benchmark and they will then be sharing the max r/w speeds. Say your max is 10mb/s and 2 apps are reading/writing those apps now each have a max of ~5mb/s, 3 apps running ~3mb/s and so on.
I like to break stuff!
How much are those 64GB anyways
besides that, I heard they have alot of problems with slow loading of the disk after boot or so? or just not loading at all
Thats just my say because i see alot of threads of that....
I want one because I have alot of music....
As long as you preformat it in fat32 before you put it in the phone, you should be okay. Haven't had any problems yet. Card scan at boot is faster than the previous card with the same data on it. I think I paid under 60 usd on amazon for it.
I got lucky and got my Ultra 64gb for like 35 from Bestbuy but they are normally pricey. I have never gotten the advertised 30mb read and write but it is way faster than a typical class 10

I use sandisk ultra 64gb hdxc class 10 that was on my s3, then note 2, and now it's in my s4. The only issue I had in the beginning was trying to format it to work with the s3. It was a windows XP/7 issue with formatting cards so I had to use this method. You may have to do this with any 64gb cards you buy in particular if you are going to use custom recovery like TWRP or CWM. So far so good on the card.
I also have a samsung although its only 32gb class 10 and have no issue with. Either brands I think you will be fine.

I've had my Samsung micro sd 32gb class 10 for about a year now... Not a single issue with it.
Samsung Class 10 16 or 32GB. The one to use is generally for professional/SLR cameras. Silver packaging, has some exclusive whatever printed on it. When you buy the premium SD cards, you're buying memory that is of higher quality standards & giving a much more thorough test, and better speed rates. Well worth the extra $
