Cannot Mount System/etc - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi.
I was trying to edit my hosts file for adblocking and it seems that i cannot mount the folder for r/w.
I have tried to use adaway and it fails to apply the hosts file.
So i tried to do it manually using FX file explorer and i cannot mount system/etc.
Any help would be good

[FIX] Stylus and handwriting

If you're looking for stylus functionality from your tablet. You'll need to root it and use the app and tweaks found here.

Also worth doing if don't use stylus, you'll have a much more snappy tablet.

You need to enable superuser in es file explorer under settings, i use root explorer and can't remember the precise location of the settings.

I had to set the root directory (i.e. /) as my home directory. From there you can navigate to /system/build.prop IIRC and make the necessary changes.
touch tune is great.

How to bypass "Permission denied" in File Manager?

Trying to delete camera_click.ogg file from: system/media/audio/ui to permanently disable the shutter sound on Google camera but when I try to delete that file it won't let me, I get "Permission denied." message and it doesn't delete. I am rooted, running CyanogenMod 13, and using the Zenfone 2 stock File Manager.
Try ES File Explorer and enable Root Explorer on Main Menu > Tools. It works, tested myself renaming the file.

bootanimation.zip file not able to be renamed

I am trying to hanger my boot animation but the bootanimation.zip file can't be renamed. I am using fx file explorer with root access.
Because '/system' is mounted read-only by default and not even root can write to a read-only filesystem.

Can't write to /system OP3

Hello,
I wanted to edit the file mixer_paths.xml present in system/vendor/etc to solve the issue with my incall speaker. But I'm not able to save it with a root explorer. I tried to paste another xml file in that folder with a root explorer with super user access, but it said access denied.
I tried also to mount the system folder with - rw permissions but it still doesn't work.
I also tried to move the file through twrp by mounting the system folder, but same issue, the transfer ended with an error.
Do someone have any issue to write on the system folder on a OP3?
Which firmware? Which root solution?
