I finally downloaded a ROM that works really well...except now Opera is crashing on some websites. For example, I cannot visit www.t-mobile.com on my T-Mobile Touch Pro 2, and I can't access Facebook either. There are many other sites that cause the browser to simply close down while I am trying to browse. What might be suggested? Should I remove Opera then install again?
if it's happening on log-in pages - it's a problem with https pages and proxy that t-mobile uses. don't ask why. start>settings>all settings>connections>connections>set up my proxy server>*uncheck* this network uses a proxy server... >> restart device
I searched all the forums for this error. When i try to pull up hotmail on my internet browers it says that i need javascript to login in. I tried it on IE and Opera. There is some mention of it in other threads but not resolution for it. Can someone help me. I have a Tilt 2 with the stock 6.5 ROM.
has anyone else gotten this, or know how to enable javascript on the phone
I could never get Hotmail to work through Opera either. But that's what Windows Live is for -- to get Hotmail directly through the TF3D E-Mail tab.
hey guys.
i have a million questions but i'll restrict this post to two for now.
a little back up...i have my evo unlocked and rooted on AVA Froyo V6 on MetroPCS' network. i have their $50 smart phone plan which has push email. this feature worked great on my samsung code from metro.
now on to the issues
first and most annoying - using the stock internet browser, while WIFI is OFF i can browse using MetroPCS data network. it works well and at their speeds. if i turn on wifi, no matter where, both the stock internet browser and skyfire suddenly start giving connection errors. if i turn off wifi they go back to working but on the data network. while these two arent working, market works, pandora, facebook, weather, etc. all apps work on wifi except those two internet browsers. i should also mention opera mobile WORKS. not SKYFIRE and not the default browser - which I happen to like more than the other two!
any ideas why? what can i do to fix this?
second and also annoying - the email app SUCKS. i use Hotmail for everything. i have my gmail account forwarding there, my university account forwarding there, my website accounts forwarding there. everything ends in my hotmail account. with my previous phone (samsung code running windows mobile 6.1) i had push email working wondefully and i got used to that. i know the network has the capacity to do it. i also know it's not a problem with the network and this phone, as the email app will download the emails when it feels like it. but then if i read the email or delete the email on the phone, it doesnt do so in the server even though I have it set to do it. also when I go in and click refresh it will tell me there arent any new emails when I know there are...and then when it feels like it later it downloads the email.
is there a program, whether free or paid, that will let me have proper push email with my hotmail account? i dont need any computer sync, just download my email on the fly, preferably as they arrive.
thanks much in advance!
if i can get those two issues worked out my EVO experience will be completely blissful
for your first question i dont have an answer.
for your second question have you tried k9 mail? It works for me doing something similar. I use yahoo and not hotmail but similar set up with all mails coming to that 1 email and it pushes them as i get them and dont normally have any issues with this. It also removes them jsut fine from yahoo.
i installed K9 and it's doing things well with one major issue...which i've now come to realize is the same issue affecting the stock mail app.
the phone can't connect to HOTMAIL's outgoing server. so it downloads the emails as they arrive and i can open them and what not. but if i read them, or delete them, it doesn't update them in the server. it also wont let me send an email out, saying the SMTP settings are wrong, even though it's setting them automatically. so all of these issues are because the phone is not connecting to the outgoing server!
what now?
-----------
anyone have any idea on the internet with wifi issue?
Does anyone here find it very odd that Chrome on iOS offers password sync but Chrome on Android doesn't? I'm surprised we're still waiting on this feature, especially with Chrome being the default browser on the Nexus 7.
What password sync?
You mean sync data encryption?
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?

As they apparently mentioned at I/O 2012, it's coming (soon?), waiting for that myself

as insecurely as the passwords are stored in chrome, no thanks. i'll stick to lastpass for my password syncing.

Just to clear things up.. passwords stored by Chrome are not insecurely stored. They are indeed encrypted and can only be decrypted by the same user and machine that they were encrypted on.

its not very secure still unless you change the options:
Protect your synced data
When you sign in to Chrome and enable sync, Chrome keeps your information secure by using a passphrase to encrypt your synced data. By default, Chrome uses your Google Account password as the passphrase, but you can choose to use a custom encryption passphrase instead. This custom passphrase is stored on your computer and isn’t sent to Google.

this also explains how lastpass can import all saved passwords with ease.

Yes, so the more secure option is there for those that want to use it. Does that not take care of your concerns? I use LastPass as well, and while it's awesome, it's a pain to have to open it first and copy my passwords to paste into Chrome, not to mention the poor security of then having your password on the clipboard. Or you could use the LastPass browser, which clearly will never be as good as Chrome. How are either of those better options?
So my compromise is to use LastPass as my default password store but to also permit Chrome to save them. Since I have many more passwords saved on my desktop than on my phone, it would be nice to have the password sync feature that iOS Chrome already has.

i'll continue to switch to the lastpass keyboard when i need a password, then i dont have to copy anything to the clipboard.

I've tried that but I can't get it to really work. For example I can go to the site on my desktop and LastPass will detect the URL and auto fill just fine. But when I switch to the LastPass keyboard for that same URL on my phone, what do I do...press the LastPass button next to the spacebar? When I do that it just says no matches.

right above where it says "no match found" there's text that says switch to groups. this allows you browse your sites and pick the one you need.
Given how broken Chrome's syncing of items in the favorites bar from one desktop machine to another works (it only ever adds new entries, and to do even that you have to disable syncing then re-enable it) I wouldn't count on syncing of Chrome passwords to a phone to work very well.

Thanks, I tried this but not only did it not work, it froze the browser tab for a moment after I chose the site login I wanted. Plus you have to keep logging back into the app.
The LastPass app is indispensable, but the only way to get real convenience while browsing is by having an actual browser plug-in (probably not going to happen anytime soon) or just have Chrome save passwords (and sync what you've saved from one device to another, which it's supposed to be doing).

Yeah, I don't change my bookmarks much so I haven't noticed this, but it doesn't surprise me, Chrome's sync has always had issues. The password issue wouldn't surprise me as much though if it wasn't for iOS already having the feature, and for it saying you can sync your passwords in the app's store description. I get the feeling two very different teams work on these Chrome builds and don't communicate with each other at all.

I have to argue this. Why is it not secure? I've told you its encrypted using a standard windows api. No one is going to hack your account because its not worth even trying. Hackers go for big names for fame not Joe Schmoe with $200 in his bank account.

It seems like if you encrypt with your own passphrase then Google itself shouldn't be able to read your data (the passphrase doesn't leave your computer). Now, once it's on your phone, Chrome on Android does NOT provide a UI to display saved passwords like Chrome on desktop does, but whether it's accessible to be read by any other applications I don't know. I would certainly hope it's completely locked down and unreadable by anything.
so i'm having a problem with syncing the internet on my gs3... any help?
basically whenever i go to sync all in the google account, it says "sync is currently experiencing problems, it will be back later" but it never works... it has never worked for me that i can remember. i want to be able to have my open tabs and my bookmarks etc come up on my phone from desktop and vice versa... i'm using the chrome browser if that matters, but i don't think it has worked with the stock browser either.
any help? thanks
