Recovery Problem - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, ive tried to flash all recoveries (see in attachments) Older ones since 2.8.5.0 to 2.8.6.1 shows ok screen, that recovery is installed, but when iam trying to boot to recovery my phone just shows HTC logo and just stuck on it, but when i try to flash 2.8.6.1 or 2.8.7.0 it shows this screen (attackment below)
Any advices?
My bootloader is unlocked
Ow, and I tried htc fastboot already, but it just pops up for a second and close..

Iam using stock marshmallow

I would advise using older or newer releases of twrp until you find one that does work.
EDIT: Didn't even notice you have a One M8S, that's not the same phone as the M8. Make sure you're using the One M8S version of twrp.

You're lucky wrong recovery don't totally brick your device.
How can you expect recovery made for M8 to work on non M8 device ?
You're posting your problem in M8 section which is totally wrong place for your device variant.
Everything that you need is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/one-m8s-general/make-custom-recovery-htc-one-m8s-t3114245
Never try anything made for M8 (recovery or ROM) on your device ... your device is not M8. M8 is 32 bit, yours is 64 bit
hint : your second screenshot says you don't have htc_fastboot.exe in your folder as in screenshot 1, you have only generic fastboot.exe in that folder

fastboot boot recovery nameofrecovery.img
the right command

and you don't need HTC_fastboot to flash recovery

[Solved] Fastboot issues

I have a dev. HTC One M9 that's running ViperOne M9 with S-Off. I installed fastboot and adb drivers but for whatever reason, I can't get the command fastboot getvar all to work when I'm in the bootloader. I wanted to read my actual firmware version (since the one in the software info. is for the rom and not the phone itself). Anyone else experience this?

Bricked

Hello guys,
This is my first post here and unfortunately it is about my bricked HTC M9. It has TWRP recovery and unlocked bootloader but S-On. Can someone please help me fix this?
What did you install?
Skickat från min HTC One M9 via Tapatalk
I've read that you need to s-off to fix "bricked" issue. But I can't boot my device now. I tried flashing HTC M9 stock ROM from HTC DEV site and renamed it to 0PJ.........zip. When I booted my device into download mode it asked me to press the volume up button to flash which I did. But it showed me an error- 'Failed: -2: failed to flash from downloadzip.' Is this error due to S-ON?

You're still on the lollipop firmware. Try flashing a older version of viperone or flashing a ruu that matches your cid number
Skickat från min HTC One M9 via Tapatalk
Which twrp have you installed?. Twrp 2.9.0.1 and supersu 2.65 will get the device running.
Then you can flash a rom but THE ROM MUST MATCH THE FIRMWARE VERSION!!.
Lollipop based roms must be flashed over a Lollipop firmware. Marshmallow roms must he flashed over a marshmallow firmware, so on and so forth..
The best advice I can give is read multiple sources before doing anything to your phone as it is easy to brick htc phones. They are not user friendly at all when it comes to flashing your own stuff.

I contacted HTC customer care a few days back. They after checking my device's info sent me an RUU. I connected my device to PC and ran that RUU. But after some time I got an error- '130 customer ID error.' When I reported this problem to them, they told me that they don't have the suitable RUU. Now what should I do? As I told earlier I'm a newbie to HTC. Where can I find the stock ROM required for my lollipop firmware? Should I re-install my firmware? If yes then how can I find if the ROM/ Firmware is suitable for my device?

I installed TWRP 2.8.6.0
Are the errors I get while flashing ROM or running stock RUU due to incompatibility of firmware? But how to confirm if a ROM is suitable for my firmware?
Very possible. Try twrp 2.9.0.1 and see if you get anywhere but most likely it's the "allow oem unlock" option not being ticked..
I think there is an adb command to unlock the bootloader but I don't know what it is. Twrp is adb commands so if you can get into twrp you're halfway there..

I read that thread and the guy faces exactly the same problem as mine. Well now I downloaded the stock ROM from HTC Dev website:
http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
I downloaded the Arabic version as my device was made in Saudi Arabia. I downloaded ROM of Android 5.0.1. So now what to do? How do I install it with SD card?

DO NOT RELOCK. You will make a bad situation much much worse.
You're running generic WWE firmware, and there are RUUs for that. Go to this thread and you will find help.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/stock-nand-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698

OTA update

Hi everybody,
I have the htc e9w, and I'm currently on the orignal rom version of 1.35.709.2. I have root premiision on my device and I have an annoying ota update notification which drives me crazy. It asks me to update to version 1.41.709.6 , but of course I can't since I've unlocked my bootloader.
So my question is, Is there's an option to update to the newer version? I don't care if it requiers wiping the decive, just another solution beside sunshine, I'm not going to invenst any more money on this piece of junk (I used to love HTC until now)
Or is there's a custom rom for this foreign device?
Thanks for the helpers.
Hi
You can install the OTA even if you are unlocked and s-off. It does not matter. The only thing you need is the stock recovery. If you have TWRP installed on your device, just flash the stock recovery ( it is in the forum ) and install the OTA.
If you think that you have to be locked, you can easily lock your device with only one command ( fastboot oem lock or relock i think ) and then you can easily be unlocked by using the same unlock.bin or the htc developer web site.
Thx

Hi, thanks for your help but I couldn't find any stock recovery for my version. my cid is 621 for as far I've understand it's from taiwan.
the only recovery that "suits" my device location is - recovery_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.45.707.5.zip, but it is another version from what I have ( 1.35.709.2) so can I use it?
AND I'm s-on.

Yes, you can use it. You can find others at here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3285886
You can also find a compatible recovery.img in the OTA file that you have downloaded. Copy the OTA.zip from your downloads folder to your PC, extract the zip and you will find recovery.img inside the firmware.zip.

Fastboot doesn't read my device, only on TWRP recovery
you need to be in Fastboot mode to read fastboot getvar all, you do that by turning off the phone, then turning on keeping pressed Vol- and Power until it goes to the white screen, then select Fastboot, and then you get on CMD "fastboot getvar all" then paste it here to see what is the problem

Stuck in fastboot menu

I viewed many post in this forum but still don't know how to fix my problem.
I buy a 2nd M8 dual sim today and it's have 5.0.1 rom, with root, recovery, S-off, CID-111111 ...etc
i tried to flash 7.1 and 6.0 rom downloaded in XDA, install newest TWRM but it's show an error when i use "dual sim" rom, with single rom it's got two red erro at the end but still say it's success installed, but when i reboot the phone it's stuck in fast boot menu :
Code:
*** Software status : Official ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
M8_DUGL PVT SHIP S-OFF
CID-11111111
HBOOT-3.19.0.000
RADIO-1.22.30306251.27G
OpenDSP-v46.2.2-00564-M8974_F0.0811
OS-
<same as other device after this>
Also tried with aroma rom, it's install normaly and succesfull but still stuck at fastboot.
Please let me know what i need to do, what's recovery, kernel or rom must be install.
