[Solved] Fastboot issues - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a dev. HTC One M9 that's running ViperOne M9 with S-Off. I installed fastboot and adb drivers but for whatever reason, I can't get the command fastboot getvar all to work when I'm in the bootloader. I wanted to read my actual firmware version (since the one in the software info. is for the rom and not the phone itself). Anyone else experience this?

[Q] Coming back to Stock ROM after flashing custom ROM

I'm trying to return my One V but i don't have my stock recovery.img
Can anyones out there post this .img for me, just want to return to stock rom.
Sorry for my bad english
To return to stock ROM you need to flash RUU follow these steps to do it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25036430&postcount=17
You can find the RUU here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591059
If you only want to flash the stock recovery than I recommend to use the All In One Tool:

anyway this is the first time i flash rom for htc. so thanks youv very much
You can re-lock using the Hansoon2000's All-In-One Kit or using the command fastboot oem lock in Windows. Ten the bootloader screen should say *RELOCKED* on the top of the screen.

Btw where are you from?
Then that is the correct RUU for your device.
unlock your bootloader again.
Try to manually flash this recovery in fastboot mode - fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
then relock bootloader again in fastboot mode - fastboot oem lock
then flash RUU
Edit : you also can do as what I posted before : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25998043&postcount=16

Check what is your CID.. in fastboot mode : fastboot oem readcid
If it is not HTC__044, the RUU is not for your device.

If the custom ROM is still intact (you never wipe the system & data in recovery), relocked bootloader has no effect on it. Can you still boot your phone ?

If you still can boot your device, as I mentioned earlier download CID Getter from Play Store.
Else, it seems that you need to reflash a custom ROM and download the app to check your CID.
Here is mine as example (details from CID Getter)

Good night friend.

Revert back to stock or not?

I got my One X few days ago, I unlocked the device and flashed custom ROM right away, then I noticed that the screen is little broken. It's moving and it makes creaking noise when you press it, so I want to take it back and have it fixed or changed. So should I revert back to stock and relock the device or not? I'm little worried about warranty though, they shouldn't really care what I did with the software.
Revert to stock, it will increase the possibility to get it repaired for free.

You need to relock:

Yes, and if you want, you can restore a stock nandroid backup. Your choice, the result will be the same.
Seems to me that going with Nandroid Backup would be safer? If I made a backup after unlocking the bootloader and installing recovery, would restoring that work and then just relock the bootloader?
Yes, you have to flash back the stock recovery after restoring the nandroid ! Not the the recovery from the nandroid because that is the custom recovery
This is the stock recovery for the 3.14 software
http://db.tt/C1SWP2ZJ
After that when everything works you have to lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Then you are as stock as you can be

Not particularly, it amounts to the same thing, but with the RUU there is less chance of typing something wrong or getting the wrong file.
I tried to update with the RUU provided, it started the process and suddenly stopped and said it can't update my device and there was signature error or something on the top of the window. So it rebooted my device into bootloader and I can't boot into the ROM. Recovery and all that is gone as well. What should I do now?
What happens when you try to get to recovery?
What hboot are you on?
What does this command give from fastboot mode:
fastboot getvar version-main

[Q] How to check CID on device when it is soft bricked?

Hello.
I am facing an unusual problem.
After returning from service my device restarted and not it cannot go anywhere but the home screen.
I have tried to get a RUU update but as I am a mega noob I cannot find the CID number so that I can update the proper firmware.
I have never had such a problem before!
What can I do with my One X?
I cannot find the CID.
I cannot root or anything else.
I cannot boot up my phone exept in Hboot.
The silly thing is that the guys from HTC had installed CWM recovery on the phone but there is no backup.

[Q] Stuck in bootloader mode. No wifi. Adb can't find devices

Okay so, I had a problem of having no OS and had my htc m8 on soft brick for a while but i finally got that resolved by flashing a new rom on it. ( Here it is if you want to read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/os-installed-transfer-files-t3018626)
Unfortunately, I wasn't getting wifi on it. I tried 2 other roms and still no dice. I read online that i needed to update my firmware to do that. To do that, I needed to relock my bootloader so I did and the firmware flashed successfully.
Now my hboot is 3.19 instead of 3.16 and my bootloader says RELOCKED.However, when i go into recovery mode, my phone shows a picture of the dead android. I can't get past the bootscreen either so my phone is stuck on bootloader mode.
I found this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497712 to help me get my phone unlocked again cause the unlock code at htc dev wont work again.
However, when i write adb devices, no serial number shows up now. adb shell says no devices connected.
I tried pushing and flashing a new recovery and rom in cmd and it said it failed.
I'm really grasping at straws at this moment since I can't really do anything.
Are you sure you are updated? In the bootloader, what does it say for "os"?
And what roms are you trying to flash? 4.4.4 or Lollipop?
And to unlock bootloader, start over at HTC Dev. See what happens. Instead of trying old code.
You can't flash a recovery with a locked bootloader.
I'm pretty sure it updated because everything looks different. Bootloader's background is black instead of white now too. When I flashed the firmware, everything seemed to be okay as well. . .
my OS says 3.11.1700.5
and i tried it at dev and generated a code, but it gave me an error and didn't give me a file. I tried to use my old file but that didnt work.
Personally, in your situation now..... I'd flash the correct RUU for your device, then use Sunshine to s-off. Then you'll be bootloader unlocked also and can flash recovery, root and all that.
You'll need the same Android version RUU that matches your firmware now.
See this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Without Sunshine... I can't say why HTC Dev isn't helping.

Like I said, recoveries wont flash cause its stuck on Relocked mode. I cant fix that because adb devices wont see my phone.
All the other commands on the All-in-One root kit gives me this:" 'C:\Users\Admin' is not an internal or external command, operable program or batch file " regardless of where i do it. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong here.
I tried to put the 0p6bimg.zip file but it wont copy on to my sd card cause of some error saying not responding or disconnected.
I tried flashing it instead but it said the file was too large
I tried the latest firmware but it said Failed! verification error.
I tried using the RUU to update and it stopped on the 1/7 process saying Error 155: Unknown Error.
I think what i need to do and how to fix it but I just need adb devices to find my phone.
If i can do that I can unlock my bootloader, install a recovery, install a rom and be home free but I can't do that until it detects my phone. I've tried everything now including reinstalling my drivers three times now.
Please help :'(
You don't need adb devices to see the device. You need to put the phone in the bootloader and type fastboot devices.
Open the command prompt inside the folder where also the fastboot.exe file is located.

No, you guys. I already said this. I already used the htc dev the first time to get my phone unlocked. I had to relock it to flash a firmware. Now I can't unlock it again. The token isn't working. I already used the token once and its not working for the second time. I need adb devices to use adb shell. That way I can adb push revone and unlock my bootloader, but im not sure if that would work either.
Edit: I tried htc dev by generating a code 3 times. It generated different ones, the last one worked.
Ok something is still wrong.
I flashed cwm 6.0.4.8, did a full wipe, installed supersu and installed the android revolution rom. When I reboot, it says I am not rooted, root now? I pressed yes and it reboot.
The phone goes into htc bootscreen for 2 minutes, reboots again and then goes into recovery mode. What do I do now?

Bricked

Hello guys,
This is my first post here and unfortunately it is about my bricked HTC M9. It has TWRP recovery and unlocked bootloader but S-On. Can someone please help me fix this?
What did you install?
Skickat från min HTC One M9 via Tapatalk
I've read that you need to s-off to fix "bricked" issue. But I can't boot my device now. I tried flashing HTC M9 stock ROM from HTC DEV site and renamed it to 0PJ.........zip. When I booted my device into download mode it asked me to press the volume up button to flash which I did. But it showed me an error- 'Failed: -2: failed to flash from downloadzip.' Is this error due to S-ON?

You're still on the lollipop firmware. Try flashing a older version of viperone or flashing a ruu that matches your cid number
Skickat från min HTC One M9 via Tapatalk
Which twrp have you installed?. Twrp 2.9.0.1 and supersu 2.65 will get the device running.
Then you can flash a rom but THE ROM MUST MATCH THE FIRMWARE VERSION!!.
Lollipop based roms must be flashed over a Lollipop firmware. Marshmallow roms must he flashed over a marshmallow firmware, so on and so forth..
The best advice I can give is read multiple sources before doing anything to your phone as it is easy to brick htc phones. They are not user friendly at all when it comes to flashing your own stuff.

I contacted HTC customer care a few days back. They after checking my device's info sent me an RUU. I connected my device to PC and ran that RUU. But after some time I got an error- '130 customer ID error.' When I reported this problem to them, they told me that they don't have the suitable RUU. Now what should I do? As I told earlier I'm a newbie to HTC. Where can I find the stock ROM required for my lollipop firmware? Should I re-install my firmware? If yes then how can I find if the ROM/ Firmware is suitable for my device?

Lollipop based roms must be flashed over a Lollipop firmware. Marshmallow roms must he flashed over a marshmallow firmware, so on and so forth..
The best advice I can give is read multiple sources before doing anything to your phone as it is easy to brick htc phones. They are not user friendly at all when it comes to flashing your own stuff.

I installed TWRP 2.8.6.0
Are the errors I get while flashing ROM or running stock RUU due to incompatibility of firmware? But how to confirm if a ROM is suitable for my firmware?
Very possible. Try twrp 2.9.0.1 and see if you get anywhere but most likely it's the "allow oem unlock" option not being ticked..
I think there is an adb command to unlock the bootloader but I don't know what it is. Twrp is adb commands so if you can get into twrp you're halfway there..

I read that thread and the guy faces exactly the same problem as mine. Well now I downloaded the stock ROM from HTC Dev website:
http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
I downloaded the Arabic version as my device was made in Saudi Arabia. I downloaded ROM of Android 5.0.1. So now what to do? How do I install it with SD card?

DO NOT RELOCK. You will make a bad situation much much worse.
You're running generic WWE firmware, and there are RUUs for that. Go to this thread and you will find help.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/stock-nand-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698
Read up there before doing anything else.
