Hey all,
I restarted my phone yesterday and it was stuck in a boot loop for some reason. I tried to factory reset, but doing so still resulted in a boot loop. I then proceeded to attempt to flash stock, but the flash tool crashed while during the process. When I try to boot to download mode now, I get "Secure booting error, Error!: Boot Certifcation Verify". I know this also happens on the G2, and I know the process for fixing it. But when trying to use the same method with the G3, I can't access my filesystem from Linux. Any help? Thanks.

1) Which exact model do you have?
2) Where are you from?
3) Which exact stock version did your phone come with?
4) What did you try to flash exactly, and how did you do it?
Let me know all this so I can see if I can help you :good:
Hey!
1) Which exact model do you have? - LG G3 D855
2) Where are you from? - India
3) Which exact stock version did your phone come with? - had installed earlier "LGD855AT-00-V10e-EUR-XX-JUL-08-2014-32G+0" TOT
4) What did you try to flash exactly, and how did you do it - Updated to Lollipop via kdz, a few things were broken, wanted to revert back to TOT. when the process started in download mode, got an error and then "Secure booting error, Error!: Boot Certifcation Verify".
If I press volume up and plug in then it gooes to qhsusb_bulk on device manager. it gets detected under Ubuntu VM, but dosent show th drives. thats my story.

I was rooted before updating to lollipop, then tried to back dowk to KK with TOT and this happened, so I dont think I am rooted any more.
The better question is: do you have TWRP (custom recovery) installed? If you do, your phone can be fixed. If not, you are probably screwed.
Basically it sounds to me like your phone managed to flash the updated Android 5.0 bootloader but didn't update the LAF image (download mode). The old download mode doesn't work on the new bootloader, it gives the error you are experiencing.
Because you still have a LAF partition, and presumably a recovery partition (even if they are not working) you cannot access fastboot mode.
In other words, there may be no way to fix your situation.
As the hardware is fine there must be a method, but it might be something only LG can do.

I'm in the same situation now.
I was bumped with TWRP and CM12 installed. I wanted to unroot and go back to stock. Started a flash with LG flashing tool, but it was taking ages, so I unplugged the USB cable in the middle.
Now whenever I boot via either VolUp+USB or trying to get into a recovery I get secure boot error.
Is there a way to fix this ? Or do I need to send a phone to LG ?
This has happened to me today. Downgrading got stuck at 3%. LG Flash tool said to remove phone and plug back in. Any way to fix
Also, does anyone know if downgrading voids warranty or anything?

I didn't find a way to fix it, so I've just sent it to LG repair shop. They haven't yet looked at it so I don't know how much would it cost.
People just tell the service center that you were upgrading from KitKat to Lollipop when the problem happened
Evidence wise it support your claim since the OTA from KitKat to Lollipop overwrites the aboot, sbl, laf and recovery partitions and service center people ultimately cannot tell between failed OTA and a failed KDZ flash

solution for no download mode
Hi guys.
If you cant enter into download mode then you need to force your g3 in to qhsusb bulk mode by shorting the test point.
When you short battery must be removed.
After short your phone will be detected as qhsusb bulk mode.
Send me msg in pm for further help.
If u dont know the test point then let me know.

more info is better than none, what did you do to "accidentally brick" your phone? and if you are stuck in download mode you could try the lg mobile support tool and re load the rom for your device.

READ completely, including the link in 4 before starting!!!
download the tool using the lg d851, under t-mobile. the tool is generic, and can be found at lg.com under support/downloads
1. install LG Mobile Support Tool
2. run Tool, it will query lg for updates and do so if needed.
3. Install USB Driver (dismiss if you have done so already)
4. follow this process: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51268802&postcount=21 (use 5. below to put into download mode, not vol up and down like the link states)
5. with your device off, hold the volume up button while plugging in your USB cable with the Tool open.
6 you system will recognize the device and configure drivers, this will take a minute.
7. continue following the link in 4.
I ran into the same problem and now i'm stuck in downloadmode!
Does this method work? Or is there any other fix yet?
Thanks in advance!

hey guys, don't ask for a different fix if you don't bother to explain how your phone got stuck in download mode. as for does this work? Why don't you try, it's the same tool used to upgrade firmwares instead of using OTA, and the link included shows how to get the tool to download the file (if it sees the same/current f/w it does not download the firmware) and you have nothing to loose, and this method is often used to recover from "soft bricking" your phone.
i was restoring my LG G3 to stock through the lg flash tool .....when i got through with it and restore was succesfull. somehow i forget the usb cable plugged through my pc usb port ...then connected my lg g4 that is where the flash tool got my Lg g4 on Downloade mode ....i tried all the methodes somehow i think the recovery is messed up .....i can get to the recovery through the button but it reboot straight to the download mode ....thanks every one for their support

Anyone got any idea? The whole thing started with getting rid of the Genisys rom ... I did not like it ... I thought I was going to bring it back to the stock, but then LG Up wrote an unkown device ... I thought it was flash with lg bridge ... that's what I lost. .. has removed recovery and has stopped updating at 16% ... since then it is only download mode I tried to update but failed with all three programs ... LG up to start - unkown device, LG bridge stop at 16% , LG Falsh Tool 9% ... sorry for my english
Hi, I have weird issue with LG G3 D855. The phone works fine when Android is booted but the screen is blank at start up (no lg logo), when in recovery or download mode and while the Android is updating.
I bought this phone like that. I installed the LG G3 Stock Factory Firmware D855 European (LGD855AT-00-V10e-EUR-XX-JUL-08-2014-16G+0.tot and LGG3/D855/LGD855_20140526_LGFLASHv160.dll) using LGFlashTool but it still has this problem. Currently updated to Android 5.0 V20u-EUR-XX
Is it possible to be a hardware problem? Are there different parts on the motherboard that control the screen when is running Android and when is running bootloader?

I tried the tot method from that topic and still got the problem.
I assume there is another OS that handles everything before the android is booted for example Download Mode or Recovery Mode and that's exactly when the screen is blank. Are KDZ and TOT methods flash that as well or I have to use something else?

Well if the phone works fine well i think you should just leave it like that, but it´s really weird that the screen is like that on the boot anyway, you could try to root it and apply a boot animation by yourself to see if it fix the error but the flash method should had solve the issue; you can try RomToolBox from the playstore or any other root app that changes your boot animation or look for a tutorial, maybe just maybe the boot animation is not getting flashed for some reason.
Yesterday I had a serious problem - my phone had a kernel crash and after a while of working on it I managed to flash through download mode. anyway, after managing to flash the stock 6.0 my phone won't enter to recovery mode, and every time I turn it on after a few minutes when the phone shut it's screen due to me not using it it won't turn on unless I would remove and put back the battery.. Any ideas what should I do? Thanks for every help!

I've Tried, tried through LGUP and it showed me unknown model so I couldn't do it with LGUP. Also tried with lg flash tool and had a disconnection with server and couldn't flash...
When I try to flash the 6.0 kdz it has the same message but after a while I press Retry and it flashes the 6.0 kdz.. after flashing the phone will turn on and work for a few minutes (not 100% ok) and then shut down again, with the ability to turn back on after removing and replacing the battery (and the all shut down process continues).

Thanks for everything, for now it works. I flashed all over again the marshmallow version and this time it didn't even turned off yet.
so after a day of using the phone is shutting down again and won't boot into recovery (since I have stock recovery) and won't boot into the android system - can only get into download mode. what should I do?
Maybe you have a battery problem, try another battery.
Verstuurd vanaf mijn LG-D855 met Tapatalk
that's what I've been through: kernel crash due to connecting the battery when the phone was connected to pc with usb cable. than after many times I tried flashing through download mode with lg flashtool it worked for almost half a day and then suddenly it crashed again (when I tried to install spotify on my phone). all through the process when I tried to flash a stock rom with LGUP it wasn't possible because of unknown model error. right now I re-flashed the marshmallow version (because for some reason that's the only stock rom which I can flash and it would work from time to time), and it crashes all the time after a few seconds of using it and getting back to boot loop. Mods I can enter: Only download mode (no recovery and crashes when try to turn it on)... Any ideas what my next move should be?
Hey,
My phone just got stuck and won't load up, but I have access to "download mode".
Is it the famous motherboard issue?
flashing an official firmware might solve it?
Thanks,

Can you go to recovery mode.if you can try to wipe data and cache.
After doing this if it not work so try flash official rom

you can try it if no go, then contact carrier or LG get it fixed.
just gave it to them and waiting for an answer.
I have a warrenty for 12 monthes and 13 monthes passed since I have bought the phone.
Does LG policy is to fix it in any case?
Moreover my bootloader is unlocked..
Have you tried flashing the official Rom using LGUP?
tried, didn't work
You just download Lg Bridge and turn on the phone in download mode.. You will see in Lg Bridge that you have recovery option .. Hit that and it will download latest firmware for G4 and install it .. This will wipe all your data
ok but whats the difference if I flashed the firmware via download mode.
either way I am now waiting for a response from the lab.
