I've been offered by my telco a galaxy note 7 for retention at the same price of a new oneplus 3. So aside from the price and the current issues regarding the note 7 why would you suggest that i get the oneplus 3?
Thanks in adavance
Not only that the battery can spontaneously ignite, I've herd from T-Mobile that allot of customers are having many issues with it. Nothing that I can elude to tho. I would go look at XDA's forum on the reviews that owners have been having....
Yeah the g note 7 got pulled, I work for att and we had to stop selling them immediately, we are exchanging for GS7, 7 edge, or 7 active
So I would hold off, I would go for the note 7 if u don't plan on rooting or unlocking bootloader
Seriously, if I could get a carrier-free Note 7 the same price as the OP3, I would choose the N7 every day of the week!
Saying this being very happy with my OPO3...
Not every Note 7 is affected. It's a risk to buy a Note 7 now. I'm surprised your Telco is offering you that considering Samsung has suspended all sales of the Note 7. Unless your country is not affected by this recall. I would pick the Note 7 over the One Plus 3 if you want the expandable SD. Card slot, water resistant, larger screen and better screen, S Pen, and better camera.
I had the Note 7 but returned it because it was too heavy for my small hands. I went back to my S7 Edge and I'm waiting for the OP3.

Why so? aren't the OP3's features and performance enough to make you stay?

Well.... they offered the Note 7 to me a week ago but i think their distribution is halted ATM in our country too with regards to the Issue. I'm actually thinking of getting a S7 edge or the OP3 if the note 7 issue doesnt clear up soon. My Galaxy S4 needs to retire already
Samsung halted release of note 7 worldwide that mean problem is very serious.
so its good to wait some weeks until problem solves completely.
If going for N7, get a fire extinguisher too. Just in case :silly:

It's unfortunate about the Note 7. They stopped the sales of the Note 7 in my country as well. Samsung is doing the right thing. I love my S7 Edge and highly recommend it. I'll be using the OP3 on my second line whenever I get it. The wait time to get the OP3 is driving me nuts!
I'm impressed you're still using the Galaxy S4. I had that phone but it started giving me issues. Plus, I upgrade my phone every year.

I hope when the Note 4 hits the US, Samsung has fixed this issue, or we wont be different from the iPhone 6's Bendgate
http://news.yahoo.com/gapgate-samsung-galaxy-note-4-might-big-manufacturing-133021434.html
According to the very last page of the just released Galaxy Note 4 manual, this is a feature:
A small gap appears around the outside of the device case
• This gap is a necessary manufacturing feature and some minor rocking or vibration of
parts may occur.
• Over time, friction between parts may cause this gap to expand slightly.

Sigh...
Er, we have a manufacturing defect which we never spotted so instead of it being a problem we now call it a 'feature'.
I dropped into another best buy to look. And low and behold it definitely exists. The sales guy said the same. It isn't equal all around the device and doesn't exist on the Edge. Must be a really important feature.

I'm still headed toward the Note 4 but I'm expecting greater availability of high end off-contract phones (that don't cost a fortune) over the next year. This will probably be my last on contract phone especially given how locked down Samsung and ATT make these. If I weren't so sick of running a Windows phone temporarily (old S3 gave up finally), I'd hang for the rumored Nexus 6 Shamu.
Well, as long as it doesn't creak. My GN2 creaks like a mother.

It's only a week or two difference. Hang in there!
i'm waiting for Shamu before I pull the trigger on anything now. Of course it's easy for me to say because I'm still pretty happy with my Note II!
I ended up pre-ordering the Note 4 before the 5.9" Nexus 6 rumors really started to take off. But if the 6 turns out to be all it can be, I can see a rather short lived affair with the Note 4. The lock down from both Samsung and ATT is definitely a factor. Besides, I was an original Note owner and I can still remember all the 'its so big' comments. Now its 5.3" screen is just average. 5.9" screen with a possible form factor smaller than the iPhone 6+? I'm game!
Wouldn't u be able to get note 4. If u decide to get nexus 6 you could easily sell it to buy nexus outright.

Ok, let's say there is something to this New Note 7 problem.
What phone would you get?
Has to be Android...
HTC 10?
Maybe LG V20?
Pixel?
S7 egde?
I know.... Questions, questions, questions!!!
Has to be a flagship phone and have an S-pen type feature, so none of the current offerings. Have already reactivated my Nexus 6P and will wait a while to see what shakes out.
Wait for S8E... But it will be a pain because I still own a S4
If there is another recall. I hope they just replace it with s7e

I'll just stick with my Note4 and wait for the Note8, might go the route and flash a Note7 ROM
Since there's no other phone that I absolutely like right now, I will probably just revert back to my Note 4 and be contract free for some time, hoping something better comes along. I had the S7 Edge for a few weeks, and I found it was unresponsive and lagging at times, so there's really no alternative for me.
No idea. In my case in the US I switched carriers so my old device has already been sold and I would have to get something else immediately or terminate my contract with them. I would say Pixel XL if it was sold though AT&T.
i wish they sold the moto z force in the netherlands, no brainer!
perfect specs, almost stock android, shattershield glass (better than gorilla glass 5) waterproof etc etc.

I'm giving my note 4 to my daughter.. So I need a new phone.
I'm choosing between
1. Google pixel
2. LG v20
3. Sony xz
Hopefully such thing is not happening as Note 7 satisfies almost all my criteria for a good phone... If it does and since none of the current offerings by other OEM able to fulfill what I want, I will just have to go back to my Note 1 (chose it because it has the biggest screen at that time + a stylus)...

Give your daughter a new phone and keep the N4, it has no competition out there.
But at the original starter: there is no other high-end phone out there with a stylus, bar the Note series. If you want a stylus, you'll need to get a Note 4 or 5. The Note 4 is only available second hand and the Note 5 only via grey import. I've made a shortlist myself:
Note 4: only secondhand, SW support has been stopped after MM.
Note 5: no SD, 128 GB version expensive. No European version.
LG V20: not available until at least early 2017, no hardware buttons on the front, no OLED.
Google Pixel XL: way to expensive, no hardware buttons, the big chin is ridiculous
Nexus 6P: again no HW buttons. not a fan of the design (back look likes the white droid from Wall-E)
Axon7: new brand to me. What about support? Their market launch was scrappy.
Moto Z Force Droid: only available on 1 US carrier.
Huawei Mate 9: should be introduced shortly. Big screen, but no HW buttons. Presumably a LCD screen.
S7E: bloody edges... go away! I strongly dislike the glass allround design. It is slippery as hell and gives me back the nightmares I had with my S4 which handled like a wet bar of soap as well.
1+3: delivery times galore. But seems like the best bet for now, especially for the price.
iPhone 7+: Yes, I said it. I would almost consider an iPhone. Especially with the ridiculous price fro the Pixel XL with 128 GB. It should net a good resale price for the S8 Stylus to arrive.
If you want a flagship phone with a 6" flat screen, the choices are dire to non-excistent.
I feel yea, if I have to turn in the Note 7 (which is looking increasingly likely), there isn't really another phone that covers it all.
S7 Edge gives the curved edge, water resistance, camera, SD card, and next-in-class screen.
Note 5 gives me the Stylus.
Mean I'm probably looking at the S7 Edge. *sigh* I just don't like the look of it as much as the Note 7. it's TOO rounded, not just the glass, but the body as well.
Edit...The more I think about it, the more I lean towards the note 5. Camera isn't as good, but the screen is still solid, and I'm really liking the stylus now. SD card...well, most of my music is in the cloud, photos auto back up to the cloud, so end of day, I'm really just losing on water resistance and the AOD, and curved edge. (which I like, because...bezel less on the sides now!)
Guess I'm leaning toward the pixel XL.
I would get none. Not giving competition more reasons to gloat.
I just talked to Best Buy mobile 10 minutes ago. They told me I need to bring my replacement Note7 in immediately. "a Second recall is coming very soon" I can exchange it for any phone however since I was leasing the Note7 I only have leasing options for a Samsung S7E, LG or Iphone. Any other phone would need to be purchased outright. I asked about the Pixel XL and they told me that I would have to purchase the unlocked $829 phone outright from Google to bring to Sprint. so this Note7 issues goes from bad to worse for users.

Ohhh and Samsung has screwed the Pooch but good here.
I've had every Note and this is problem for me...
There is always a choice. Previous phone, no phone at all, 80% phone...
Same boat here. My note 3 was awesome, still works and runs like new ( on MM currently). Still plenty fast. The only dilemma is I gave it to my son already.
I've been using this s7 edge for a few weeks now waiting on the new batch of note 7's. It's very close performance and spec wise. I just refuse to pay full price for this phone though since it's NOT what I wanted. They had me return / refund my note 7 and buy this in its place. They then said I could return it regardless of how long it took to get a new note 7.... but I think that was just the manager of the store looking out for me. What if I keep this and he gets transferred during the wait, as it looks like this will take a while.

The Note line still its Android true iPhone killer, the only problem is that it doesn't kill you too.
Before Samsung assures they pinpoint the fire or burning cause, they should relaunch an new Note 7 different enough to the recognized at plain sight.
I think the best chance they have to preserve the Note legacy is to resurrect the flat screen note (if some one just look at the new Galaxy A8 should agree this should be the basis of the next Note phone).
And revamp it's specification as native Android 7 (with background updates) and 6 gb of ram on a body slightly thicker to accommodate the same reliable battery as the S7 edge but on a more usable flat screen (the edge don't help the s-pen), remove the edge related useless bloat and leave only the s-pen related features and the Irish scanner.
Name it note 7 classic or whatever
Also a price drop to 750$ (same as base iPhone 7+ and Pixel XL with 32gb a bump to 64gb and 6gb of ram at same price it's competitors )
This is the one I'll buy again w/o seeing back.
Yes, I hope so too. I've been looking around for a possible alternative, but none come close to what I want from the Note 7. I am considering whether to risk using this phone despite the recall.

And the Note 7 is officially discontinued T.T
From a business standpoint, I think we will not see the Note 7 again. Once Samsung has ironed out the issues they will re-release it with another name. For a long time consumers will associate the moniker "Note 7" with the exploding phone. Re-using the name would be a mistake. Samsung will work hard to fix the problem and try to clean up the Note image.

No body doubts the Note 7 was the best Android device of this year, but it sad fate doesn't mean the end of the "Note" brand obviously the next Note shoul be meaningfull different both external and internal to break with this accident.
An good strategy for samsung could be to resurrect the Flat-Screen note 7 prototype they tested along the edge variant, and provide it the same reliable internals as the S7 Edge, specially the batter (bigger and non-exploding) and carefully audit the USB-C chargue system and the Irirs scanner the only actual diffrentiators (beside form factor choices) among S7 Edge and the note 7.
Also I think they should start to ready it for production ASAP before Xmas.
Whatever I'm getting an S7 duos flat BTW.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply the end of the Note line, but the end of the "Note 7". The could re-release as the Note 8 (continue the Note line but skip over the 7). I should have been more clear.
They'll most certainly continue the line Samsung would be stupid not to; the phone is literally in a league of its own.
If QC allows it I wouldn't be surprised to see the Note 8 release sooner rather than later.

Hi,
I am on the fence on buying Galaxy Note 10 plus, as I keep reading articles about the all the new redesigned Galaxy S11 coming in just 5-6 months. Samsung Galaxy S 11 is also being named as Samsung's 'New Beginning'.
Since I am a iPhone X user, but I am ready to switch to android, mainly to Note 10 plus, because of it's gorgeous 6.8" display and S pen.
So, will Galaxy S11 get rid of the hole punch design and come with full screen display? Will it also have 90 hertz refresh rate display? Assuming it will have all these display upgrades, it will be further transferred to the Note 11.
Should I wait for another year for the Note 11 for better screen?
Really confused
Nobody knows what features S11 or the N11 will have, but they'll clearly be better. There will always be a better phone coming out down the pipe, the phone you want now will always be old news months from now. Nobody can tell you wtf makes sense or not, only you can answer that.

I advice you to fully know and understand the s pen and all it is capable of doing, you will love it, or simply not, more to it, anyone buying a note series device should do it just because the s pen, if for the slightest reason the s pen is not that all great for you, do not buy a note series device, get a S series one

I would certainly wait in your case unless your phone is just falling to pieces. From rumors I have read about they next galaxy may even have a camera that is 10xs more powerful than the current ones. If you buy now, in 5 months you will be wishing you could upgrade again. Also, fast charging graphene batteries seem to be just around the corner and could well debut on the next version of galaxy phones. IMO, its worth the wait. At the very least wait for deals during Thanksgiving weekend if you must buy current version of Note 10. In 3 months prices will be at least $200-$300 cheaper than current ones and you'll kick yourself for not having waited and seeing your phone's depreciation.

That is true...there will always be a new phone coming in few months time. That's when I think and get confused of investing 1000$ in it or wait for a better one!
Depends on if you are wanting a new phone NOW. New tech will always come out every 6 months. Waiting due to better tech comes out... That will make you never buy a phone. I personally ordered through Samsung, joined their upgrade program, so I'll get the Note11 and basically have no change in bill. So it's not big deal.
The s-pen is incredible. I love it. I'll never buy an S-series for that reason. The Note is always a more refined S-series anyway.

I like the S-pen and it's added functionality. I would like to use it and give it a try. But my main goal is the best and biggest screen.
My advice try out both the Note 10 and the SGS10 in stores. This will help you figure out, which phone is for you. As everybody I know who have a Note device never use the S-Pen at all.
If you don't need a s-pen then wait. The N10 will have an actual upgraded camera sensor.

The Note10+ pretty much unanimously has the best screen available right now, so I say go for it! You'll fall in love with the s-pen I bet.
Thanks for all your replies and suggestions. I think I will wait for Google pixel 4 XL, iPhone XI and Mate 30pro to launch. And then take a decision.

I am currently using Samsung Galaxy S10 plus. Should I go ahead and buy Note 10 + or wait for Samsung fold?
Depends. Do you want the Fold, or do you want the N10+?
I want to upgrade my phone. Only Samsung Note 10 + is available in market which is better than my phone. Samsung fold is a new tech so is it worth waiting for fold price drop or purchase note 10+?
I always advice others this:
The note series is REALLY satisfactory for those who like an apreciate the features the S Pen provides, if the S Pen is not the MOST important feature for you to have, simply get something else , as you put it, the the S10+ or the fold would be good for you
That's like asking "should I get SUV or should I get 2 seater sports car" LOL. Fold won't be available until around 9/27 and should cost around $1800. Note 10+ is available now for around $1100. I already made the decision (as probably a lot of other people here) to buy N10+, because Fold won't have s-pen, which I use all the time and it's a new tech which already showed to be troublesome in the past. I'll wait to see if all problems are fixed and if much larger screen is compelling reason enough. Also hope for price to come down a little. At home and work I have computers, which I prefer to use over the phone no matter screen size and on the go where I use the phone the most (like driving for map guidance/traffic) larger screen may actually be too cumbersome. I can always sell N10+ and buy fold in the future and couple hundred resulting loss shouldn't be major concern, when you're spending $1800 on the phone.
BTW I agree with Winol, if you don't use s-pen much, there are so many other good phones to choose from, it's mind boggling.

The problem is, you're asking us what you should buy, and none of know what features are important to you. Only you know if it's worth it to you.
It's an impossible question to answer anyway since none of us have a Galaxy Fold.
Do some research, watch some YouTube videos, and decide which one interests you the most.
I think you should actually look at the other foldable phones. Huawei's version is actually a lot better in my opinion. Of course I'm not yet considering all their troubles with the US Gov't. But when I compared the 2, I really felt Samsung dropped the ball there.
With regards to new tech, and given the problems the first fold encountered recently, I would actually warn people from buying the Samsung fold. I previously bought the Note 7 which was recalled 2x. And it was such a hassle. I had to set up my phone 2x only to have it recalled. I sold my old phone too so I ended up without a phone. I had to settle with an LG phone at the time and replaced it when the Note 8 came out.
I would not buy first-gen new tech. Foldable devices will be crap the first few go-arounds most likely. Would not want to be a first adopter. The Note line is 9 years old now definitely very mature while the first Fold literally folded so badly they nixed it and are trying again 6 months later. Go with the Note 10+ or a similar device that is not first gen tech.
for me, first generation tech is always a BIG NO.
The 15 year old is dying for the 2000$+ new tech, but i controlled the sucker and got the Note 10+ and satisfied since i have tab s6 for the heavy stuff. best of both words (phones and tablets) and cost less than the fold
