[HOW-TO] change Jelly Bean system fonts

after ICS, Google started to use Roboto as android's default english font. so I found 6 types of style here ：
/system/fonts/Roboto-Bold.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-BoldItalic.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-Italic.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-Light.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-LightItalic.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-Regular.ttf
before you replace these, you need to know the font's classification, someone complained that when repaced the Roboto-Bold.ttf, the device restart into boot-loop, I think maybe that was because u replaced a BOLD style with a REGULAR one (android2.3 dones't check this).
FontCreator-6.5-pro(which i use) can change the font's properties.
for example, change a Regular font into Bold, here is the steps:
1、open a regular font(most of fonts in http://www.fonts2u.com/ are regular style) with the FontCreator;
2、Format(in the menubar) -> settings -> Classification;
3、change the "Weight" value into "Bold";
4、change the "Width" value into "Medium(normal)";
5、only tick off a single bold in "Font Design(windows)";
6、only tick off a single bold in "Mac Style".
7、save it and u can use it to replace the Roboto-Bold.ttf file.

How to change the LockScreen Digital Clock Font?
/system/fonts/AndroidOpia.ttf seems no longer be used in Jelly Bean(which android 2.3 use it as LockScreen Clock Font)
so you need to replace those three files to change the lock clock font:
/system/fonts/AndroidClock.ttf
/system/fonts/AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf
/system/fonts/AndroidClock_Solid.ttf
those three files are totally same, and only contains 16 chars: not_def, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, M, P, :, space, 0.
u can edit the original to replace the chars in sequence.(use FontCreator6.5pro)

the attachment fonts was tested in my Nexus 7.

Looks like you need to be rooted for that. Or you can use ssLauncher, add any font you wish, and use throughout your screens. True, doesn't change in-app fonts, but typically those are very readable. Sample of ssLauncher, with app folder and Quickpic in Segoe bold (tilted at 4 degrees) and page title in Jokerman. Touching anywhere on camera launches camera app. Root not required.
If I were rooted I'd change system fonts too!

system fonts replacing
Can I just replace a Roboto-Regular.ttf ? I replaced that font file with my Unicode font and when I reboot my nexus 7 , it was in boot loop, so I have to reset to factory and re-root it again. Now I am afraid to do it again Can someone explain it to me what happen please?
I changed the system font with Rom toolbox app and I can read my Unicode font on fire fox but on google and gmail, gtalk , whatapps etc my fonts are miss place. what do I need to check or read about it? I have high-logic FontCreator too.

I, however, found no less than 12 different 'Roboto' fonts. So I edited a new set of my favorite one, 'Rehotalko' using FontCreator, and used the properties of each as instructed in the OP. It was a little laborious, but it worked like a charm!

i used this thread as a guide and changed like literally every font everywhere to Anke Sans haha on my GNex running XenonHD 9.5 (a 4.2.2 rom)
All the fonts mentioned above plus the RobotoCondensed versions.. AND opened up my DeskClock.apk and overwrote the fonts in the /assets/fonts directory (making sure the classifications matched) then adb pushed the DeskClock app back to /system/app and presto worked great! i appreciate the tips above to make it all happen!

I am still having a hard time changing font of minutes. All the rest seem to have been changed but not the thin font for minutes.
Any suggestion? I tried to follow your steps and will still see what happened.
I was able to change the minutes, however, they it was not properly aligned with the hour.
I am using FontCreator 6.5. ANy suggestion? Thanks!

yeh i never figured out the alignment issue either, i tried a few different fonts and it cut off no matter what so i just try to not let it bother me haha

I'm guessing you would have to decompile apk's and edit xml files.

This is modification of DARK BLOOM theme for Huawei Honor made by @mr.mrcn (ALL CREDITS)
and modified for Huawei Ascend P6 by me.

mmh for me it doesn't work at all when I try to apply it, the system always apply another theme and nothing changes.
I'm on B709 by oxalis1970 withut KangVIP Tools installed.

Hi...this is a theme for EMUI 3.0. You don't need to have KangVip tools installed. Kang Vip has nothing to do with Themes.

Try this way: see your default storage location (settings--->storage--->default location and
copy both dark themes in default storage location (sd card or internal)---> HWThemes;
go to themes--->mine ...and choose one theme and apply (but NOT those two DARK themes)...other one different from your current theme.....wait to apply....restart the phone...now try to apply DARK BLOOM.....tell me if works.

I want to try this dark theme but also if i've done all (extract theme, put it in sd card in the folder HWthemes) i can't see it. I can't see nothing, all other themes are white with the logo emui.
What i can do to solve this issue?

Edit: i find the problem: was because the p6 was attached to usb cable and the sdcard was unusuable

Can You tell me how?
I have white keyboard in dialing menu, 3 white bars in contact menu which 2 of them should be black
the bar under groups "starred: xxx" and a bottom bar "new contact, seatch and menu" and of corse contact colors...
Im using this theme on umi zero so maybe thats why I have different colors?

You have to open the theme with winzip, winrar etc and delete “com.anrdoid.contacts“.

I think that you should add a folder called Fonts on your hwt file and there put your ttf file.
I have change many thing on the theme but for the fonts i have used the fonts that was already on my base theme
Aniway i have checked on many hwt files and in most of that i hav found a folder called fonts with ttf files on it
On the description.xml you have to put a label name for the fonts
Here mine as example:

No this is just a theme. You have to copy it on your hwtheme folder, after that open the theme app and, under my theme panel, choose kandi theme

On the second post you could find a way ...
You could also download a theme with the font that you like and, from the theme app, apply only the font
For doing that you have to click the personalization button instead the theme (see image attached)

you have to open the theme file (.hwt) from your pc and there add the fonts (see attach)
Use 7-zip for open the hwt file and add the font folder.

I just add new folder 'font' and .ttf file in it..but its not appear in theme apps..

I tried to download some sample hwt theme from other huawei phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/themes-apps/theme-fonts-emui-t3032524) but seems that does not work on our phone ...
Don't know why, i will try to find a way for the fonts ...

about the keyboard seems a firmware bug, so we have to wait that huawei solve this problem

I found one thing which I really doesn't like on your theme. Font what you used is really nice, but it doesn't contain all special characters of my language(ě,š,č,ř,ž,ý,á,í,é)

download the theme zip file and open it with any archive editor and open fonts folder and delete the droidsanschinese.ttf file and then repack the archive.
i have used productsans font and it dosent support the special charactars that you have mentioned...

Doesn't you know about similar font with these special characters?

i have not used those special charactars before,so i didnt bother adding it...btw i will fix this in the next update

nop...only works with emui theme manager

download the theme zip file then extract it...
find "com.whatsapp" and delete it..
repack the files and rename to .hwt...done!!!

I just meant where can i find the file where i can change the color. But found it myself and changed it. ^^

I do have a problem after applying the theme and reverting back to the default theme: the font stays the same as the one in your theme.
Can you tell me how to fix this please?

this theme is great thanks ! but is there any way to change the font?
This theme changed my font globally, so whenever I change the theme to whatever, the font remains the same from your theme and I have a bit problem with diacritics.

Thanks but it didn't work. I did factory reset and it was the same so I needed to.
1. Install FontFix app
2. Setup default font Roboto
3. Factory reset.
and now it works but I can't use your theme or I should say I can't use any other font as default one because of diacritics problem.
I will investigate this issue a bit more

download the theme zip file..open it using any archive viewer..find 'font' directory and delete it...repack the archive and rename to hwt and copy to hwtheme folder...

I replaced your font with my font and renamed it to yours default and now it works, thanks !
