A mini Weather Apps review

I have been looking for a nice today screen weather app for some time. I don't use the TF3D interface and did not like the built in app anyway. It had that really pesky problem of limited city selections. Anyway this is not intended to be a full comparison but just some comments I hope you will find useful in selecting a solid today weather app.
Tools I looked at:
-HTC TF3D app
-MSN Weather app
-Elocent Weather: http://www.elecont.com/weather-for-pocket-pc.aspx
-Weather to go: http://tonaya.com/products/wtg/index.php
-PocketWeather: http://www.sbsh.net/products/windows_mobile_pocket_pc/pocketweather
Indirectly looked at:
-Fizz Weather
-SPB Weather
Through this nice "shoot out": http://www.mytodayscreen.com/shootout-weather-applications/ (also included PocketWeather)
MSN Weather: Way too simple only the basics, not a today screen app.
Elocent: Looks like a solid contender, nice time history graphs, full featured, $10.
Weather To Go: Nice basic today screen, FREE, not maintained. Had some issues with memorization of the default city.
PocketWeather: Pricier at $15 but nice free eval period. Is both a nice light today app and provides more details than most will ever need. The winner for me.
PocketWeather provides current conditions, forecast, descriptive icons, customizeable icons, customizeable today details, sunrise/sunset, wind, humidity, direct METAR reports from nearby airfields, radar pictures, world daylight map, earthquake data and auto updates, strong control over data sources and download frequencies. UV index would be a nice feature that is missing.
In short an amazing little app. Do note I have no affiliation, stake nor conflict of interest with any of the products nor companies mentioned here.
I hope you found this useful in selecting a weather app. Feel free to add reviews, links or comparisons, whatever.
Have you tried WeatherPanel. I think its the best one out there and its free.
^ Looks very solid. I think you have the price wrong. Perhaps you can download for free or perhaps payment is optional but the site ( http://www.marsware.net/WeatherPanel/purchase.htm ) says $13. Moon phase info by any chance - it did not look like it. Lastly it does not appear to be maintained (not since 2005). Thanks.
Edit, update. I DL-ed this but no matter how I choose the two uddate options I can not even get a single data update to populate the today page. Bummer.
Ive been trying to find a good weather app as well. I also have TF3D disabled.. Ive been looking for something that will add in to my zune-ish today screen and has nifty animations. I've been checking out this one which allows to find location by GPS. Not free but has a really nice layout and functionality. Might go with this one..
edit: have new user restrictions and cant post a link. Google GWeather Ageye
I use WeatherBug (free):
http://weather.weatherbug.com/mobile/weatherbug-windows-mobile.html
and SPB's weather plugins.

It was discontinued by the writers but was picked up and supported by PPCGeeks and Storyr in particlular.
This is a great thread on it at PPC Geeks although the same info in here on XDA. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=7357&highlight=weatherpanel
Try this cab. Weatherpanel 2010 with moon phase fixed until end of 2012.

teamROU [Anywhere]: Lead Developer on ROU Launcher

About teamROU and ROU Launcher
teamROU is an app team (currently in the process of being formed as a company) that is currently developing ROU Launcher, an innovative new launcher that will change how users use their homescreens and apps.
teamROU is a worldwide team; we have members around the world working for us. We have no single office. Therefore, you would not have to relocate for this position.
The Brief
ROU Launcher is actively being developed by our team. However, we currently lost our lead developer, who was an experienced Android coder. Once he left, most of our other developers left. We are now very stretched for developers, hence why we need more.
ROU Launcher is a new launcher for Android, that looks beautiful, but is also massively functional. Apps are grouped into categories in the app drawer, allowing easy finding of the apps.
The widgets in ROU Launcher are highly unique, and like the rest of the launcher, look great. These widgets can add appointments to your calendar, check your unread email and read your Facebook and Twitter social network accounts. Watch our promotional video here!
Responsibilities
• Working with our other developers to build ROU Launcher
• Adding new innovative features
• Coming up with ways to solve complicated coding-related problems
• Communicate regularly with other developers through our project tracker and email
Candidate profile
You must be able to:
• Code in both Java and Android, and have experience in both of these platforms
• Know your way around Eclipse IDE (or your preferred IDE, providing you can prove you can use it effectively) and the Android SDK
• Speak and write fluent (or near-fluent) English - to communicate with our other developers and designers
• Have unwavering commitment to the task at hand and the project as a whole
• Be able to get on with your fellow developers and teammates
• Be able to lead the develop team if needed, and be ready for this at all times
• Know how to use the version control system, git
What we’d like to see
Any apps you’ve created before on the Android platform
A sense of teamwork and commitment
References from previous employers or clients, or reviews of your app, either on blogs or in the Android Market
A CV or resumé with your work, educational and personal history

[App][4+][Need Testers] x360a [Xbox 360 Achievements App]

Hi, I'm a new developer developing an app that is based in the website xbox360achievements.org. The website offer information about Xbox games such as news, achievements, guides, reviews, previews and much more.
My goals is to offer that information within my app. So far I only have the basic stuff included such as browse for games, show achievements list plus descriptions and more.
I need some testers, so I can get some suggestion, fix bugs and ultimately improve the app.
NOTE: This app is for devices running android 4+ (ICS)
NOTE: The app is in the very early stage, so expect some crashes.
NOTE: I do not have any permission to develop the app. For now I'm just developing the app for learning purposes. I have ask for permission and I'm just waiting for the response.

On my VZW Galaxy Nexus running CM-REMIX 2.8.2, I get "Invalid Screenshot. Choose Screenshot with the following Resolution". I am choosing screenshots done on my Galaxy Nexus and checking their properties shows that they are in fact 720 x 1280. Are there any logs that can help trouble shoot this?

AlarmPad now supports extensions. I will give you full support to develop one

Hi,
My name is Ricardo, I discovered the xda forums only recently so forgive me for being new here. I'm an independent developer, author of AlarmPad (id=com.mindmeapp.alarmpad on the Google Play Store - I can't post links here yet), an alarm clock app that lets you set alarms in context with your calendar events and the weather forecast. The app has now an alpha version that supports extensions and I would like to ask your help to consider creating one.
You can get this alpha version from the Play Store by joining its Google+ community at plus.google.com/communities/113108980221311144145. The extensions are meant to display information to the user when the alarm rings. A simple working example that displays random quotes is also available on the Play Store. It is open source so you can see how it works in detail here: github.com/riclage/quotes_extension. The API itself is also open source.
Interested? Here is what I offer:
- Support if you have any questions, run into any problems or need any kind of help
- Support to help you monetize your extensions (some ideas below)
- Support your extensions as much as possible on all the apps I release or update in the future
- Improvements to the app based on your feedback to give maximum visibility to extensions
- Active promotion of the first extensions developed inside the app, on the app description on the Play Store, on its official web page and when contacting the media
If you are interested in monetizing your extension, here are some ideas:
- Build an extension pack where only one or two of those in the pack work on the free version
- Make the extension work with limited options on the free version
- Make the extension work only on certain days of the week (e.g., does not work on Wednesdays) or that works only after midday (most users use their alarms in the morning) on the free version. When it doesn't work, you can show a message with a link to the Play Store to buy the pro version
- Have a trial period
If you have any other ideas and you think I can help accommodate it on AlarmPad, please send me a private message or post it below.
Thank you for your time,
Ricardo
