I have the Virgin Mobile One V and that setting is not there apparently? Can anyone else confirm?
FYI turning it off is deemed illegal in some countries, so if you don't see the setting there then it's "illegal" in your country

it might be that sound is nly fr normal profile.. might be as it usd to be lyk this on. nokia phone

You can't install like normal apk. You have to copy to /system/app manually and overwrite the old one

Try deleting the camera click.ogg file...in the system folder .. Currently not on sense rom so cant be sure where it is but i havn't tried this method so pls make a backup of that file first by copying it somewhere else..in case anything goes wrong..
If this method works it will disable that shutter sound until u paste that file again there..

you'll need to be rooted, and use an app like Root Explorer, or any app that has a file manager that can access system level. go to System>App> and find two files, one is SamsungCamera.API and SamsungCamera.odex either change the name of both of these files (eg: SamsungCameraOLD.API and. odex) or delete them, either way SamsungCamera.API and SamsungCamera.odex should not exist anymore. now that you've done that, use that root file manger to place his hacked SamsungCamera.apk and place it in the same folder (System>App>). then restart your phone.
note* you may need to mount your R/W card, you can simply do that by the giant button at the top of Root Explorer.

If you're on a deodexed rom, then you won't have those files. Just reboot after dropping the apk in there, make sure your permissions are correct, and you'll be good to go.
What are the correct permissions? I tried flashing the zip through CWM but no go. I'm on a deodexed Rom also tried dropping the Samungcamera.apk file into system/app...
Thanks
I hear there was a camera mod that made shooting videos a much higher quality but it only worked for the international version of the GSlll. Perhaps doing it for this would be possible at a later date?

I am actually working on the higher bit-rates also. I have a few versions right now, in testing, the only issue I am running into right now is that when you use the power button for the shutter, it also triggers the power menu. It still takes the picture and all, but its an annoyance.
Has the video recorder always had that click-click sound whenever the ringer volume is on?? That's really annoying. I thought shutter sound in the camera controlled both.

CWM and TWRP installs are interchangeable in most, if not all cases. Definitely when you're talking about a simple script like this one.

I saw that the codename android ROM (i know the its a different ROM build but maybe he has some ideas) has a the power button as the shutter already. Maybe you can ask the OP if he could advise you on the issue you are having.

I don't think a tweak will be coming to fix the resolution lol.
Your on the 7 inch right? If your running stock touchwiz there is something in the display settings that you check to increase text more legible. Other then that, I don't think a dev in the world can fix the screen.

I found a solution , install build prop editor and edit persist.sys.font_clarity value to 20 or even 25 makes the font clearer back up the file and be ready to flash it if the phone got stuck, as far as I know this edit works fine and stable
mdnie
hey,
you must disassemble your boot.img then,
edit init.${ro.hardware}.rc at/as such
# Permissions for MDNIE
chown system system /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/bypass
chown system system /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/cabc
chown system system /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/mode
chown system system /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/negative
chown system media_rw /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/scenario
write /sys/class/mdnie/mdnie/scenario 1
reassemble boot.img, reflash
[edit] it seems only a setting of 1 sticks, for 2,3,4 etc. it [scenario] reverts to 0
omg setting to 1 is making my eyes bleed
so the lesson i guess is your can make certain settings for things such as this stick
by following the same process.
hope this helps.

Unless you root and mod the sound is required. There was a law passed that says the provider nor manufacturer can make it so the sound can be disabled. The reason being is so you can't be one of these creepers in the malls taking pictures without permission.
There is an app called "enforced stream silencer" that does not require root. Maybe thus will work I will know at 9 am tomorrow and report back!
I believe if all of your volumes are down, you won't hear it.

The camera shutter sound option in the camera settings menu is a csc feature which only gets enabled if your carrier & country code has it. The actual setting checkbox can be added by a rom dev along with a lot of other options throughout the phone. When I get around to rooting my new Note 4 I plan to get to work on making a custom stock rom with all the bells & whistles including the camera shutter sound menu option. I'm coming from the Note 2. Things will soon pick up for the Note 4 develop section.

Device/System/csc/feature.xml. In feature.xml edit the line in the camera section, "shutter sound menu" from false to true. Reboot the phone. You will then have an option to enable/disable the shutter sound in the Camera apps menu . You must be rooted and use something like es file Explorer
Turn your ringtone volume all the way down to silence the camera shutter sound.

I used that one a couple of years ago. I believe you may have to change permissions for feature.xml to r w through root Explorer if I remember correctly.
Es Explorer will just do it automatically if it's root explorer setting it set to "ON".
let me know how it goes.

What other values can you set it to? I'm on AT&T and it worked when switching to "OPEN", but I'd prefer the stock Android status bar. It exists in the systemui.apk, so there must be a way to enable it.

There is a record option in the build prop but it didn't enable it for me. Gotta be something else with it I bet.
Anyone with a sprint g4 manage to edit the build.prop without bootloop? Every time I modify the build.prop (dpi or enable/disable anything) it will just keep looping
What app do you guys use to modify the build.prop file? When using root explorer, it just tells me that the file is too large so nothing will be saved. I used to use 920 text editor, but it's no longer available in the play store

Might be framework related too. I remember using G2 and G3 tweakbox and you could enable it. Problem is this is the 4 and no xposed yet. I think it takes more to be able to add the button to the dialer.
Edit.. Actually the more I think of it, enabling it in the build might be what works, but it's just a matter of adding a physical functioning button to start record.

Yea. I used tweak for those too. I just didn't know if the dev was modding build prop.
I emailed him on the play store to see if he was making a g4 version now that we have root, but no reply yet. Hopefully enough people do the same and he makes one for us.
