720p power saving mode SOT - Note 7 Questions & Answers

hello folks
how much SOT Can I get if I used 720p power saving mode comparing to the regular QHD screen resolution ?
I prefer to get accurate answers without limiting the cpu performance neither background processing in the setting

I think you need to try both and compare under same conditions.

I get 8+ hours

Not sure. I was getting 8 hours with 1080p.
Right now my battwry is at 82% and I have 2h 16m Screen on time. That means I would get about 11 hours screen on time with powersaving at 720p

Without root is there a way to disable the power saving notification?
Also, any way to adjust dpi scaling when running at 1080p or 720p?
Sent from my SM-N930W8 using Tapatalk

with wqhd, all default setings I'm getting 10h+ of screen on time, currently gsam says I'll get about 16h screen on timethis charge.
I'm mainly reading, surfing the web etc, gaming, watching video etc will be less, the battery lifeis very good though.

don't use auto-b because use sensors and sure battery. my opinion and my setting are 20/25% of brightness manually set

+1 except 4½+ screen time. Any ROM, I always use trinity kernel. I'm currently at 30% battery with 3½ hours display 23 hours on battery. If I leave data/auto sync on the whole time I get a little more than 4½ total, I think I might hit 5 hours this time since I've been turning data off when not in use.

I like to keep my screen rather bright - around 50% The only time I switch to auto is if I am outside. With Trinity Kernel I am getting +/- 3 hours of screen on time with data on all the time and Wifi on about 75% of the day.

Battery life-Kernel-Screen on

Sooo i want to ask u guys what is your battery life on note 2 especially i want to know the screen time on and the kernel used and other tweaks u used like scheduler and governor/
On mine i want to say that i got like 5 hours screen on saber kernel(41.3_7100) .
5 hours and 30 minutes more or less on adam kernel.

Sorry but those threads are meaningless to my opinion. Battery life / screentime depends on personal config of the device as well as usage patterns. Therefore results are not comparable. I can easily pimp screentime up to 7 hours or more when reducing brightness to min and displaying mostly dark or black screen. So you never know how stats are generated.
Btw. Your 5 hours are perfect, if you achieved them by normal usage.
Just my 2 Cents
I kinda agree. It depends what you are doing with the phone when the screen is on. I normally play asphalt 8 on max brightness so my on screen time is not as high as some that you see.
But where I think comparison is worthy is with screen off time. I'm currently getting Drain of 1% per hour.
This is with the new saber kernel which I think is a big improvement on the old and id suggest you try it op

You're right. Battery drainage while screen is off shows how well your device goes into deep sleep mode.I usually have more than 1% per hour since wifi eats a lot more energy. I have turned wifi psm off for stability reasons. However I'm using Deep Sleep Battery Saver App and therefore I'm now able to achieve similar results.

What do you have enabled? Maybe try shutting down Google now and location, might help some, granted shouldn't have to do that in order to get good battery life.
Might have some wake locks as well.
i dont see anything wrong with it? i keep mine at 23 and my screen time is the same as urs

you wont see much or any power savings from switching to a lower resolution..no matter what the resolution is your display is still having to drive all X amount of pixels that your display physically contains. get a lower power screen usually lower res ones will be lower power and thats about the only way. dimming helps too. just a few notches dimmed from full/half can make a world of difference. all the pixels will still be lit regardless of resolution used

root and wait till someone comes up with a custom kernel. that way you could control the wakelocks, cpu, voltage, gpu control etc.

Assuming you are right, there is still much battery savings from lowering the resolution because the processor doesn't need to push as hard to drive the lower resolution.
I've lowered mine and definitely saw a difference.

What runtime are you using? If you are on ART then I'd suggest going to Dalvik. Significant boost in battery life. My battery is quite solid.
huge picture...sorry.
Anyways, on 83% battery life, been using it today streaming music and browsing while at the office.
Im getting 2.5 to 3 hours screen time from 100%to 50% with auto brightness.

Cm12.1 and screen resolution

Hello guys ..it is possible to change screen resolution from quad HD to Full HD running cm12.1?? Cos i tried all apps from google store and they didnt work ..just dpi can be changed ..and thank you
I had the exact same problem as you. I am running blisspop 3.6. Here's the fix.
Get terminal emulator, then write "su"
Then write "wm size 1080x1920"
It'll keep the settings on boot.
Btw, how is battery life with cm12.1? I'm getting about 4 hours screen on time with and undervolted kernel by -85mv.

Yeah its waaaaaay smoother and the phone is much cooler. The best part is that you practically can't see the difference between 1080p and 1440p on a 5.5 inch screen.
I don't know what lg was thinking.

Improve Performance, Battery and UI: Set resolution to FHD

Goto Settings , Display, Resolution and choose 1920x1080 (FHD)!
Doing so will reduce the load on GPU and CPU, as lesser pixels to calculate... This improves UI fluidity and battery life, and you won't hardly notice any difference!
Try it!

On the tmobile version, it's under Device Maintenence / Battery / Power Saving, then you have to customize the Mid or Max savings to the resolution you want.
