I have just upgraded to Oneplus 3 from Samsung S3. With this one needed to turn off GPS after using an application that required it, to save battery. Likewise I always turned Data off when the wi-fi was on. Does one need to do either of these with a Oneplus 3, or wil they both happen automatically? - Mike
GPS is a passive connection, it turns on only when an app requests location services.
When you connect to wifi the data goes off until the wifi disconnected..

I have the Note 8 GT-N5100 which is the 3G version that can make calls. It was the only available version in the market here and I do not use it for its phone functions. I see it eats up 3-4% of the battery power, even without a SIM card in place. How would I turn that off, but still will be able to turn it back on when I need it for calls? Putting it to plane mode shouldn't be the solution as I like it to connect to wifi immediately.

Put it in flight mode and then turn just Wi-Fi on.

I also have the same situation.
I just put the device into flight mode and enable the other connectivity options when required like wifi or bluetooth.
It works very well

Fortunately, flight mode and "wifi on" at the same time is possible with the Note 8....
I use my Note 8 3G without GSM enabled all the time.
Wifi is still on and syncing / exchange push mail works like a charm.
Using the pull down menu to enable and disable connectivity options is convenient enough for me.
Otherwise use something like Tasker to automate 3G availability.

Wi-Fi turns on automatically and will only leave hspa connection active for a few minutes at a time. This has been going on for about 2 months and keeps getting worse.
I have tried all 3 sleep policies under advanced settings. I have tried switching Wi-Fi connection managers and utilities and have deleted them altogether as well. I have tried disabling location over Wi-Fi and mobile networks. I have reset Wi-Fi networks and disabled autoconnect when reconnecting.
There are a few other things I've also tried but basically I've tried everything I know short of clean installing-which I intend on doing when 10.1 goes stable.

It turns out that the issue was with Internet commander. The solution was disabling the option to start internet in standby under screen off settings. Unfortunately that entirely disables internet until about 5 seconds after I turn the screen back on but the alternative is to need 4 battery charges per day instead of 1 or 2.

Hi,
I'm trying to get smart network to intelligently manage my WIFI and data networks. Data works fine, but I'm having trouble getting wifi toggle to work. The device won't see any wifi networks after wifi has toggled off. I have to manually toggle wifi to get it to connect again.
Does anyone have a alternative app solution for my purposes?
Currently I've got working with Smart Network:
Turn off data on wifi connection or screen off.
Activation timer of 20 minutes (2 minute duration) for data connection.
I would like to add:
Turn off wifi x minutes after screen off.
Activation timer (periodically connect wifi network).
keep wifi connection on selected networks (wifi whitelist).
Current setup:
Nexus 5X on 6.0.1. stock ROM.
System root 2.5.2.
Latest Xposed framework and lastest version of Smart Network and Gravity Box for MM.
ElementalX kernel 1.0.4. (stock kernel didn't work either)
I've got little hope for Smart Network app being updated (i've already posted in the appropriate thread) so i'm interested in knowing if anyone else has a similar setup.
Any suggestions?
Hello,
yesterday when testing and setting up the OP3 I noticed that, after booting up, the WiFi didn't connect automatically.
I always had to go into WiFi settings, click on my WiFi and select "Connect". From then on, it worked normally.
(Had to boot really often, so it was clear that it was not a "sometimes" incident.)
Does anyone else have this?
I've had problems connecting to WiFi it keeps coming up can't authenticate connection also had LTE issues so I had to enter the wap details myself and that's OK but on the WiFi I've put a ticket in with one plus and waiting for reply..

With OxygenOS 3.1.3, now I don't have the WiFi problem anymore...
I have the issue where i completely loose data, there is no LTE or H. Flipping airplane mode on and off seems to fix the issue?

Hi, I continue to experience this recent bug, where, when I arrive home, the phone won't automatically connect to my wifi. I only have my home network on 5 GHz, no other entry.
Whenever it happens, the phone stays on LTE, doesn't seem to see *any* wifi, it takes actually getting in network settings and toggling from there off/on to retrieve my network and work again.
Is this really a new issue or it can be solved somehow without factory reset?

I just noticed the same behaviour with my 2 days new router, when on 5G. It takes me to turn on/off a few times to get the ip, but then, after a while (20'-30'), it says No internet, although my laptop has full internet (on 2.4G). I was thinking my router has a bug, at least I know now it could be my Z5 Nougat. :/
