I have Ubuntu running on my laptop and the gnex does not have usb support. Suppose I downloaded a rom from the laptop and transferred it to my phone using a wifi sync program such as Web sharing. Would the Rom most likely be valid or corrupt? I have other windows machines in my house but I was just wondering. I always verify roms btw.

I get ridiculously slow transfer speeds from Windows shares to my Note II over Wifi. It doesn't matter what client I use. I tried few.
And slow, I mean, is around 40Kbs.
Some mentioned something similar but I could not find any actual solution.
I use latest AT&T stock an Windows 8.
Any ideas?

I have a Galaxy S4 and finally broke down and bought the Nexus 7 last week. Just love it. I can now actually read all the pdf files I need for work without massively squinting. It's an excellent size, fast, and no stinking bloatware.

I thought the same thing until I started to realize that for quick browsing and media consumption, a tablet is more convenient and battery efficient (I have the wifi N7) than either a smartphone or laptop (and I own both, with the S3 as the phone). Plus, if I want to bring the bigger screen out and about with me, it's so easy to do so.

I use my 7 tethered to my 5 to browse. Its a good solution to saving battery on the 5 because the screen isn't being used. I can browse for hours on the 7 and still have over 60% battery on the 5 before my day is over.

I have a Note 3 and still love my Nexus 7. My N7 is used mostly for games and web when I'm at home. My kids use it when I let them (they have to earn it) so its nice to not let them use my phone. There is definitely a difference when using a Note 3 and N7. Though the phone has a large screen, I still love my N7.
Its also nice to have a 2nd device if one is charging or has a dead battery.
The only thing I wish my N7 had was a pen like the Note 3. I bought my Nexus 7 before the Galaxy Note 8 came out and would probably still buy the Nexus 7 because of the price. Normal capacitive styluses just aren't as good as the S-Pen.
I have a note 2 and have tether on 24/7 w/ my N7 2013 now. I read everything on the N7 and don't really do all that much on the Note2 except quick texts (even though I text through the N7 as well using google voice).
I'm kind of thinking that I now want a very slim candybar like HD screen phone about 2.5 - 3.5 inches that is primarily for HD videos (like youtube) and phone calls. I use voice dictation so I don't care all that much for keyboard size...
I have a Note 2 and the 1st Gen Nexus 7 (until later today) and I like the combo. At home or in a cafe, I use the Nexus 7.
If I'm out running errands I will take the phone. The 5" size means I don't feel the need to take my Nexus 7 everywhere, and the 5 inches is very usable for anything I'm likely to do when out and about.

I have a mifi device with me so it saves a lot of battery and heat. Will definitely try nexus 7. I have G2.

I have a galaxy note and a N7, I intend to sell the note and go for something a little smaller like the Moto G as all the note is used for now is quick browsing when out and about and calls and texts, and lastly as an mp3 player when walking. I keep the N7 in the car for anything else when I am out and about.

Oooh I'm telling, your trying to crack a WiFi network, bad, bad boy. Probably not or at least no method I have seen yet and I am constantly on the boards over at AirCrack. Your better off going with a Nexus tablet for that kind of thing, works flawlessly on my Nexus 10 and my buddies Nexus 7 v2. The LG G Pad is also a good tablet for such things, just make sure to get the Google Play Edition. If you have an old Samsung Galaxy S2 laying around they also make a really good phone for BCMON, use CM 10.1 or above on it and you won't have any problems.
I'm trying to pair my 2013 Nexus 7 and Iphone 5 via bluetooth, The N7 sees the iphone but the iphone does not see the N7.
When I paid from N7 to Iphone I get the following error on the iphone : "Nexus 7 is not supported"
Please help, I'm trying to pair the devices so I can tether the internet from the iphone to the N7

Sell the iPhone and get a Nexus 5. Problem solved Sounds like the issue is with the iPhone. Might try an iOS forum.
