Slow transfers from Windows shares - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I get ridiculously slow transfer speeds from Windows shares to my Note II over Wifi. It doesn't matter what client I use. I tried few.
And slow, I mean, is around 40Kbs.
Some mentioned something similar but I could not find any actual solution.
I use latest AT&T stock an Windows 8.
Any ideas?

[Q] Torrents on Nexus

Hi everyone
I just got my hands on the Galaxy Nexus
After been an Iphone boy for years.
I have a question if someone can answer it.
I have an iomega storecenter ix200 that i use for torrents.
I have astro on the phone and can download torrents files from the likes of demonoid ect. If I got to my network drive on the phone I can choose to download the torrent but when i open astro I cant find the file.
Does anyone use the ix200 with the Nexus?
Also is there any apps that can generally clean the phone?
I don't want it getting clogged up.
Thanks in advance
Torrents are bad... mmkay

Question about transferring roms

I have Ubuntu running on my laptop and the gnex does not have usb support. Suppose I downloaded a rom from the laptop and transferred it to my phone using a wifi sync program such as Web sharing. Would the Rom most likely be valid or corrupt? I have other windows machines in my house but I was just wondering. I always verify roms btw.

What does Nexus 7 hotspot do?

I have the WiFi only variant and under networking options in settings, I am given the option to tether. I tried it out, and it created a hotspot which I recognized with my phone.
What is the purpose of this? To share WiFi that other devices have access to already? Maybe as a network repeater?
Would really like to know the answer.
Thank you!

INNNNteresting... the Nexus 7 2012 has that feature removed on the 3G model - much to everyone's annoyance. I wonder if this means I'll be put back in on the 2013 model...

If the Wi-Fi only model has it, I don't see why not.
Still want to figure out the purpose of this though.
I have actually been looking for something that would allow me to tether from a wireless connection.
Not that I say that stealing WiFi is good, when I go to hotels, I can often spoof my mac address to gain connectivity to the network. Wondering if I can spoof address on my nexus, then tether to my laptop, even though this could just as easily be done on my laptop.

It extends the WiFi signal like a repeater

No. It doesn't.
I really don't know what purpose it would serve on a n7 WiFi. I use it in reverse, I will create a hotspot on my LTE phone so the n7 can piggyback on that when I don't have WiFi available.
you can use it to create a LAN and transfer files between devices...at very fast speeds...

I already use superbeam, which does a great job already. Not sure what other uses it could have.

My hotspot worked this way two days ago but now when started then original wifi connection is lost by the nexus?
Any ideas what I may have changed?

It could be for remote wireless charging, via your Qi. A little known feature called Wi-Qi.
jk LOL

I have noticed this too. I remember it would maintain WiFi connection with tether enabled, now it doesn't. Not sure if its due to the JSS15Q update or that I recently flashed Bulletproof kernel.

Oooh I'm telling, your trying to crack a WiFi network, bad, bad boy. Probably not or at least no method I have seen yet and I am constantly on the boards over at AirCrack. Your better off going with a Nexus tablet for that kind of thing, works flawlessly on my Nexus 10 and my buddies Nexus 7 v2. The LG G Pad is also a good tablet for such things, just make sure to get the Google Play Edition. If you have an old Samsung Galaxy S2 laying around they also make a really good phone for BCMON, use CM 10.1 or above on it and you won't have any problems.

Transferring data to phone

Hi folk,
Just got my new Note 7 and am wondering? I'm coming from only using Nexus phone on which I'm use to using adb push/pull to transfer large amounts of data to/from my phone.
Can I still do that with the Note 7? I'm not thrilled with Windows drag'n'drop method as it's unreliable.
Thanks
