Anyone else using a Note7 with Android Auto? At first the connection to my car was intermittently dropping and then it was OK. I have Pandora, Slacker, and Play Music installed on my phone and active but the only one that shows up in the car is Play Music. I haven't played with it yet but there's not much to troubleshoot - they're either there or there not. My Note5 was 100% perfect with Android Auto so it's definitely something on the Note7 side.
No issues so far but I also don't use those two programs. Perhaps uninstall and reinstall those two programs in the meanwhile?

HTC 10 user here, and have the same issues as you.
I stabilized the BT connection by deleting the pairing on my radio and phone, then plugging in the USB C cable and allowing the car to autopair them together.
I have Play Music and Amazon Prime Music installed, both supporting Android Auto. However only Play Music shows up for me. This was the case on my S7E as well, but not my Note 5. At this point I suspect it's related to the SD820 and/or devices shipping from the factory with 6.0.1. I've been through factory resets more times than I can count, and the same thing happens.
Apps that are restored (IE - Smart Switch) are not showing up on AA... You can uninstall/reinstall and they will show back up.
I tested this for naught im sure while in the chickfila drive thru....

Oh well, Play Music it is. You can open apps from Recent Apps and Pandora and Slacker play fine through the car when controlled from the phone. But the steering wheel controls don't work. So we can only hope that (in my case) when AT&T pushes an update out in six months it gets fixed. It would be great if the Android Auto app on the phone could be the fix but if the problem's been around since the S7e it's unlikely that alone is the issue.

This is interesting, and I'll have to test this when I get back home tomorrow. From the look of your Hazard button, you have a Sonata like me, and I do restore apps through Google on device setup, or Titanium (app only, no data).

I've got all 3 of these on my phone and all work fine from the start in AA. The only AA issue I've encountered is that when on a call I can't figure out how to get it to show the dialer pad. When on a conf. call I get options like to tap *60 to stop the God awful wait music and to hit # after I announce my name. It's weird. I think it's that AA hasn't had an update in a bit so the dialer from the Note 7 isn't fully recognized. I dunno. But 99% of AA works for me.
BTW. I'm using a Pioneer 8100NEX which I doubt makes a diff as the AA server that the phone app connects to is the same in every car on the market and the head unit itself runs Android 4.4.2 just as my wife's '16 Accord does.

My Note 7 will connect and pandora maps and everything works, the only problem I have is when I am replying to text or whatsapp messages I press the voice button and it only gives about 2 seconds to respond then it stops and it will 90% of the time not even get what I'm saying properly and say something random, i've done complete reinstalls, using factory cable and can't figure out for the life of me how to fix, oh in a 2017 elantra limited

Uninstall Android Auto and delete your Bluetooth pairing. Then make sure Google TTS is set to the default on your phone, if Samsung TTS is trying to interfere, you will have this issue. If you cannot disable Samsung TTS, you may need to use Package Disabler Pro from the Play Store to do it for you. I had to do it on my Note 5, but not the S7 Edge.
Once that is done, reinstall Android Auto and then let the USB connection do the pairing for you.

How can I get started with trying to install the Play Store and/or root the device?
There are two female USB ports on the back but I don't think it has any other ports.
Should I purchase a USB male-to-male cable and try to connect both ports to my PC? ...and then run "adb devices" ?
Can anybody give me any other tips?
I did notice that there're is a 4 pin connector hidden under a clear plactic tab on the right side of the unit. It is either a J-tag or a proprietary USB connector. The older models with WindowsCE core had a 6 pin connector under the same plastic tab. I have a feeling that's a clue to adb access. On a side note, I tried almosst every possible button press/hold combo upon reset/boot to try to find recovery with no success. And while the android version is build 8 the Kenwood build is version is 1.0. I have a feeling that the only other way in will involve modifying an update file.

Thanks for the information!
Do you have a picture of the connector?
USB is 4 pins so maybe it's just a different connector on one side of the cable? (to prevent people from "easily" plugging in a USB A-to-B cable)
...or maybe it's a serial port requiring a USB-to-RS232 cable? (like what is used to update the Metra Axxess ASWX-1 steering wheel adapter)
Here is a photo of the connector as well as a couple of other photos. If it is a rs232 like the flashlogic or xk loader, then it's essentially J-tag. Been a while since I did any J-tag modding though. I also tried plugging in the flashlogic/idatalink loader to the back plug and got nowhere as well. So far, I've found that you can plug in a usb keyboard and mouse for full easy control. I tried to use the browser for a file tree listing but it returns nothing. I was unable to figure out the mount path for the usb flash when connected, or I otherwise would have tried to run/install an apk directly. I also accessed gmail via the web window, changed the UA string for desktop, and tried to download an apk I sent myself with no luck, download showed up, but never started.
So I just downloaded the Google play store.apk file online (did a google search and downloaded the APK) and then uploaded the apk to my dropbox account. I then opened the browser in the DNN990HD and went to the dropbox.com website, logged in, and downloaded the apk file. It downloaded fine and I then launched it. I then got an error message saying "Install Blocked For security, your tablet is set to block installation of applications not obtained from Android Market."
Normally this is no big deal because you just go to applications and allow unknown sources to be installed on your device but Kenwood has hidden or gotten rid of that menu item so I can't access it. It looks like the next step is to figure out some sort of update.zip file but I haven't figured out if there's a way to get into the android bootloader on this thing.
Any other ideas out there yet?
I don't have anything to contribute, but I really, really hope some of the XDA guys can figure this out...
yeah this is a sweet radio, Installed it last weekend and love it,I used the Idatalink Maestro RR and i have all of my vehicle info on the radio screen it a sweet set-up, would be nice to install a regular gmail app and the play store, i`m wonder how much processor it has to run all of this stuff already. I wish I could figure out how to keep the Sirius replay off permanently.
Need to find a developer and probably enough donations raised to accomplish this.
I just put one of these in my car, it's pretty nice. I already noticed a force close on the launcher, lol. It only happened once I have since updated the BT firmware & software. What pisses me off it was suppose to have spotify support out of the box and I can't find any information on it really. I'm hoping this gets added with an update.I also wish they would have included OTA update support, you have to download it manually from kenwood & use a flashdrive.
DNN990HD Bluetooth Pairing
Has anyone had problems pairing their device with the DNN990HD? After installing the Kenwood firmware update I can't get the Pandora app on the head unit to connect to my Galaxy S4. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
So Could we maybe use this "USB UPDATE" method to gain install or root access?
I just installed one of these as well. Love it. I'd be willing to try almost anything to help get it rooted and have the Play store on it.

Okay guys I just tried editing the update for the radio by injecting the play story and a couple other apps I like into the update itself. The file structure is incredibly similar to a phone update. Unfortunately it did not go well. As it was updating it started to work but then the dead android icon appeared like a E: signature verification failed but it did not say that. I am only an amateur but it seems like we need a custom recovery or a way to adb either wired or maybe by wifi? I'm here to learn too so please any input would help.
Looking for hack into DNN 990 also... plus bluetooth issues...
LOL glad to see my favorite forums are on the DNN990 mission! Any progress on full access/root?
As well, I am having issues using bluetooth media with the device. The phone option works great (although it took several attempts to pair - those having trouble with this might like to know the unit won't pair if you have media source set to Pandora). The problem I'm having is with Ankidroid - I can't get the unit to broadcast my flashcards using text-to-speech, even though my present setup works on other hands-free devices. I tried playing audio file over bluetooth as well and it wouldn't work either. Any solutions?
Thanks!

Check and see what firmware version you are running. They released an update on the 31st of last month that corrected such issues. Ver 1.2.0 is the most recent release. If you need to download it check out the kenwood website and look under the support tab -> car entertainment for Firmware updates.

I think we're looking for Google Play store - so we can install apps - but we're locked out. I asked Kenwood tech support if there are plans for more apps and/or the Play store and the guy said not at this time. So any help to break in would be greatly appreciated!

Did the firmware and the bluetooth update and so far no joy. However I'm now having a problem getting text-to-speech working on Ankidroid minus the bluetooth so must fix this problem first.
I wonder what processor runs this unit. If we can find it out by software or opening the unit, it might give us some clues on how we could root it and unleash it's full potential.

Check BT settings on the deck, pandora has to be enabled. Took me a few minutes to figure it out the first time I set it up. It works great though, the BT control is fantastic don't even have to open the app. It just works. I will say after having the deck now for a few weeks, it's extremely nice however my HTC one is a much more powerful machine. You could put a top of line 4G ipad in would be a much more power machine. The resolution on the deck sucks and I don't wanna call it laggy but it's certainly not as fast as my HTC One. Granted a tablet is not made to control audio in a car. I'm sure a lot of the price take is the R&D that went into it, also certain car only functions a phone can't do. Like SiriusXM that you can pause from a satellite feed. Backup camera support which is nice which even works when the deck isn't booted yet. HD radio is absolutely fantastic. I never listed to the radio in the past but all my pre-sets now are HD only. Those thinking about the deck, yes it's cool but it's not the worth the money they are asking for it in my opinion. The built in Garmin Nav is pretty good, like I said a lot of the price tag your paying for the R&D that went into the thing since it's made specifically to work in a car but at the end of the day it's just android.

Look around in the settings, I wanna say I saw some where to shut it off by default. It's actually kinda a neat feature but can be annoying at times. One thing that pisses me off is when scrolling through channel list, it doesn't show what is currently playing. I had an old Sirius radio with boombox attachment that it use to do that years ago. Also changing your preset banks is a hassle if you don't have list view up which I also find annoying. I'm getting use to it though.
RE: Bluetooth
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I think I may have caused the problem when I rooted my Galaxy S 4 and flashed a new rom. I have working now. I have agree with you on the lagging of the head unit. The could have put a little faster processor in the unit, especially for what they cost.

For sure but it's still a great deck hopefully a few more firmware updates will get it even smoother. I have a paid Pandora subscription but there is no way to select bit rate but it sounds decent in the car. I use a rooted htc one with hacked apk and the unlimited skips works perfectly even through the deck which is great. Only bottleneck is sprints net zero 3g network. LTE isn't done yet in my area but it's getting there. Pandora is pretty fast over bt to the deck on LTE.

So, I have been having problems with the Bluetooth on my S4 since I got it, and so have some other people based on my research. I am now hearing scattered reports that whatever update AT&T put out (the apps on the SD card update) has solved the problem. I am wondering how hard it would be to look at the update, see what they did, and implement that change on my device somehow? Or, do you think it's heavily tied into other things that wouldn't make it easy? I really don't care about the apps on the SD card and such, but I really need my Bluetooth to work correctly pairing with my vehicle, and I'm getting annoyed that I have had to jump through the hoops I do currently to make it work when the phone is brand new.
As a side note, Windows 7 is telling me it can't find drivers for my phone as well when pairing to my PC via Bluetooth. This also isn't helpful. Possibly not related to the first problem, but has anyone else solved this? I searched around a little and found not much more than "me too" and "same here", but no one really solved how to get it connected properly.
EDIT: I found some information on this update. It looks like the Bluetooth stuff was definitely patched as I suspected. I am still wondering if we can somehow patch this into our phones.
Reference material:
The updater script is HERE which lists Bluetooth a number of times.
Single posts by user Aou posted HERE and HERE also list the Bluetooth changes.
I also found a copy of the update HERE.
So, can I pull the updated stuff from that file and install it on my phone? Or is it more complicated than that?
I use Ford Sync with mine. I have no problems at all.
You may try clearing cache and data on blue tooth. I heard that can solve your problem.
On your pc insall Kies...it will install drivers fir you. Then get rid of Kies...its useless.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. Are you connecting both calls and media audio to your Ford?
A Google search for "Galaxy S4 Bluetooth issues" will show plenty of people having issues, so it's not just my device. Also, this problem has persisted since new, it has NEVER worked right. It has also persisted through multiple ROMs and plenty of wipes and clears. It is an issue in the device itself, hence why the AT&T update fixed it for other people.
Also, not only are the drivers available separate from Kies on Samsung's website (which I use on my laptop), but I do have Kies installed on this PC and it still doesn't work.
Using both media and phone with hyundai premium audio. Syncs contacts and works perfectly every time. Not a single problem with this phone.
I'm not trying to argue that there is something wrong, but there is obviously something different between various manufacturers of vehicles. Here are some threads discussing the problem:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/278206-galaxy-s4-bluetooth.html
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...96510-bluetooth-paired-but-not-connected.html
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/290639-bluetooth-will-not-auto-connect-car.html
In one of the threads I have read (can't remember which one), at least two people who previously had the problem said the OTA update from AT&T fixed it. That's all I am getting at. I am wondering what it was in the OTA update that fixed it since obviously I am one of the unlucky people who are experiencing this problem.
Maybe I missed it but what's the issue exactly?
Something that's bugging me, and might be your issue also, is when I'm in the car the phone doesn't automatically connect to my car.
I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty equipped with uConnect and everytime I turn my phone on I have to manually select uConnect in the Bluetooth devices list to pair my device. I don't have to reset it up and pair it from scratch but it doesn't automatically pair for some reason.

This is similar to mine, but not the same. I guess I wasn't very specific, but then again, I'm not trying to solve the problem any other way than seeing the feasibility of porting whatever fix was in the OTA update because I don't believe anything else will fix it. I also contacted the engineering department of the vehicle device and they told me it's a known issue isolated to the Galaxy S4.
Anyway, my phone will reconnect to call audio, but gets stuck connection to media audio and will never connect unless I toggle Bluetooth off then on again. Or, it will connect to call audio, but not re-select the media audio. Everytime I turn off Bluetooth or the car, I have to either re-pair, or toggle it to get it to fully connect. Once it does connect, it's fine.
For what it's worth, the Bluetooth Auto Connect app in the market might fix your issue of automatically re-connecting. Check it out HERE. I had played with this app hoping it would solve my issue by telling it to automatically connect both calling and media audio, but it didn't. Nor did A2DP volume which does similar things. This one can also automatically start an application on connection (for instance I was having it auto start Pandora for me). It also has a feature that can capture your GPS location at the time of disconnect. This means you could get out of your car in a huge parking lot, it captures the GPS location, and you can navigate back to the car later easily. That one can be seen HERE.
Check them out, might fix your problem.

Yes. Multiple times. Again, Google search "Galaxy S4 Windows 7 drivers" will give you a whole list of people who have the same problem...
Strange thing to note. The phone pairs with my laptop running Windows 7 much better. I can play audio through the laptop from the phone, transfer files, etc. The desktop PC displays a message that says the device "needs troubleshooting". When I do that, it says the driver cannon be found, yet it works ok with my laptop. Very strange.
I think I got a fix for you here.

This I can recommend a fix for. I had the same issue with my Clarion aftermarket deck (issue did not occur on my previous Android devices). Google Play Store has an APK called "Bluetooth Auto Connect". This runs as a background process and will fix the issue for you.
\\
Still wondering about extracting whatever they did to the Bluetooth...
Thanks everyone about the recommendation for Bluetooth Auto Connect. Hasn't failed since I installed it, way more convenient now.
Thank you!
Im having an issue with Sync3 not allowing android auto to work on it. i say not allowing because it works for 2 seconds then the apps crashes and restarts on both the phone and the head unit. I've tried this with different android phones with the same result and the Ford dealer REFUSES to replace the head unit.
I have an LG v10 and a 2017 Fusion SE with the tech package witch includes Sync3. i've tried a Galaxy s7 and s6 and they dont work.
worst part is I tried my phone in another 2017 Fusion and Android Auto work perfectly. Also, Sync3 is supposed to have the option for Apple Car Play which is not available in my car but is available in other Fusions for some reason. Even knowing this the dealer still won't budge on replacement.
Has anyone have a similar experience or other issues with Sync3?

quick update. the dealer finally took the car back and reinstalled the firmware on the radio. unfortunately Im still having the same issue woth my phone. However, it does work with my friend's Galaxy s7 now.
with that said. i tried doing a factory reset to my phone and still no change.
my question now is what settings on the V10 would I need to fix to make this work?

You can't, yet. First Ford said the Sync 3 units (at least in the '16 f150) would have the update for Android Auto by August 31st, 2016. They blew that deadline and eventually said "by the end of the year." The update is called "Sync 3 2.0", I'm sitting on Sync 3 1.1. I'll try to remember to post back here when the update eventually is promulgated by Ford. Basically, you connect your car to wifi either tethered to your phone or at your home or work wifi or whatever other wifi, and enable automatic system updates.
I have a Ford Everest 2017 with SYNC 3 ver 2.0, but have the same problem with Android Auto, but I've only tried a couple of Android phones which are a bit older - Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia (Android versions 5.0 and 5.1) ... Apple Carplay works perfectly though, but the Maps app of Apple is not that good for navigation, especially here in the Philippines (POI's are limited)
Hi
Who have update for Sync3 ?
Please send me link for this
vinc
I have a 2016 F150 and just upgraded my Sync 1.0 to Sync 2.2 last night. My LG V10 does the same thing. Plug it into one of the usb jacks and android auto loads on the phone, then the sync 3 screen changes to android auto for just a second or two then back to normal sync. The phone stays on android auto, but none of the features are available through sync. It worka flawlessly with my LG G5 though....I did a factory reset on my V10 hoping it would help, but it didn't. I may try to reinstall the Sync 2.2 update and see if that helps, but I have read enough online to think it won't really matter, its a issue with the phone.

Where did you find the update? Mine isn't showing on wifi. I'm dying for this update, I have a 2016 f150.
AFAIK Ford hasn't fully implemented Android Auto in Sync 3, I work in car audio and that's a fairly sore subject for most customers with the Sync 3 system. Ford made claims that Sync 3 would support AA but failed to deliver, so far it looks liked they have failed miserably with the roll out.
I have a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium with Sync 3, had problems with Android Auto and learned from the right tech support person at Ford that if your USB cable is a piece of crap or worn out that Android Auto can't make the proper communication connection, replaced with a better quality usb cable and Android Auto now works great
I had a 2016 Ford Fusion and a Samsung Galaxy S5. I think it was SYNC, not SYNC 3. Then I got a Ford Fusion 2017 with SYNC 3 and Android Auto. Did not like the interface our how it all worked together. I had to use a cable for maps, but that was the worst of it. Audio (music, maps, phone) all worked. Then I got the Samsung Galaxy S8+ and nothing seems to work. The contacts appear briefly, but when I search them they disappear, and when I go to use the phone SYNC 3 tells me that it's downloading the contact list and I have to wait (it never downloads it). Since the S5 had worked, I assumed the issue was with the S8+, but I'm not 100% certain. When I try to disable Bluetooth on SYNC 3, it will not turn off. Nor will it delete the phone or even disconnect it. Even doing a master reset from the menu doesn't work. The only way I was able to delete the phone was to do a master reset using the skip button and radio on/off/volume button. My music playlists also do not show up. When I connect the phone to the USB port, Android Auto lets me play music from my phone, view my contacts, send text messages and use maps, but if I make a call there is no audio or mic function. This is getting beyond frustrating since I use the hands-free calling function extensively. I did not spend all this money for a car and a phone, and not have this functionality. The worse part is Sprint (my carrier) tells me it's a Samsung issue. Samsung wants to try all these troubleshooting steps and will ultimately blame Ford (even though a Google search will show the Galaxy S8 series has Bluetooth issues). Ford will point their finger at Samsung. I am hoping someone has had similar issues and found a resolution. I don't know if I can wait for updates that don't appear!
Update: Had car BT reflashed, did a factory reset on phone. Not sure, but I think the factory reset worked until I restored my apps, contacts and data (not settings). When I plug in the USB cable, I can make calls using hands-free, but I need to change the settings from BT to Speaker Phone. Then, all voice stuff comes through the phone (Google Maps and phone). But without the USB cable, the contacts load and then disappear. If I try to make a call, SYNC 3 tells me contacts are being downloaded. I tried another S8+ phone in the car and it worked. I tried my phone in another car and it did not work. But everytime I conclude it's the phone, something ends up making me think it's just a setting somewhere or it's SYNC.

I have a Ford Fusion 17' w/Sync 3 as well. I have a Pixel XL with 7.1.2 and I did have some issues with the contacts not downloading as well. What I did is made sure Android auto had all the permissions on in the phone settings. That cured it for me. Not sure if that will fix any of your other issues but have had no issues once I granted AA all the permissions.
Hope that helps. Good luck.

Didn't help, but thanks for trying. All permissions were already enabled. In case you didn't see this....
Update (7/7/2017): Yesterday I went back to my Ford dealer and tried my phone in another 2017 Ford Fusion with SYNC 3. It had the same issue. I then tried conneceting the sales reps iPhone with my car and it worked correctly. Coincidentally, the manager just upgraded his phone to a Galaxy S8. I checked the OS and patch levels and they were the same as my phone, so I attempted to sync his phone with my car. And....it worked perfecctly the first time. Contacts downloaded and I was able to make a call from the car. So the issue MUST be with my phone. I then backed up my phone using the Samsung backup program I recently downloaded to my PC. It basically creates a complete backup of the phone. Once done, I reset my phone to factory defaults and, after the initial setup bs, created a single contact on my phone. I did a sync, which apparently worked and did not disappear. I was also able to call using my car. I restored my phone and, of course, it stopped working correctly and I can no longer make calls through my car. The issue must be some app affecting the contacts and/or bluetooth operation, but I cannot find it. While I have a bunch of apps, I don't have anything that would cause this behavior, and the same apps are on my S8+ that were on my S5 which worked.*
USB cable perhaps
I, too, am having connecting my LG G5 to Sync 3. I recently updated from v1.0 to v2.2 so I've never had Android Auto before, but now it's an option. Similarly, when I connect the phone it promisingly connects and shows notifications and other options on the Sync screen for a while. When I attempt to do something by tapping on a button on the Sync screen it immediately crashes and goes back to the normal Sync screen as you'd see when starting the car. Based on what I've read, it doesn't seem like there's much homogeneity between all our problems.
I've never been a fan of the "it's the cable" excuse. Other than loose connections or the heads not fitting firmly in the phone's port, how does a cable affect data transfer? I mean, they're not high-wattage cables so impedance shouldn't be an issue, right? I ultimately wonder if it comes down to the individual phone and its interaction with handling the app. If that's the case, then those that are having issues are boned.
I've been struggling with this same issue until about 5 minutes ago. Tried all sorts of stuff, but the fix... Using the cable that came with my phone rather than a 3rd party cable. So lame, but maybe it's worth a try for the rest of you.
My AA works fine in my mustang which has v2.0. I tried it in my explorer with v2.2 and I’m having the same issue with it bombing out after 2 seconds. Tried it on a rental with version 2.2 and it bombed out on that. Go to v2.0 and it will work.

No such luck. I have no idea why it hasn't work. I hate the thought of swapping out my phone for another S8+ and having to redo all my stuff...again. Last time, I backed up the phone and did a factory reset. I think it may have worked until I restored my data/apps (I left out the settings). What's odd is that if I'm on the phone before I get in the car, the call goes through the car once I'm in, but the caller info is missing from the car display - only the number is shown. But the car won't hang up the call, that has to be done on the phone. Then the stereo won't work.

Pretty strange, I have not had any of those issues you're describing. Google did push an update to AA and now the picture of contacts are like the whole display which make them look really crappy. IMO. The contacts do download properly now though. When I make calls it all works correctly, ending and answering calls. I have not tried having my phone connect to my car when I am on a call though. So that I would have to check on. I will get back to you on that.

I have the OG Pixel XL, and just the cable that came with the phone when I bought it.
I had this same issue and what fiexed it for me was to use a shorter USB cable. The one that did not work was 6 feet long and the one that works now every time is 3 feet.
This thread is to discuss any and all things related to running Android Auto on the LG V30.
Report problems, discuss work-arounds, recommended apps, etc.
fyi, I am running my LGV30 on crankshaft OS using open auto on a raspberry pi. Open Auto is a Android Auto emulator, and I can report that it works as advertised... great DIY approach to adding android auto to a radio without android auto capabilities.
I have a question... anyone running AA on a V30 has gotten waze to work? For me, I get a blank screen when I try to launch waze in AA, and the whole thing locks up until I disconnect my phone. Google Maps works just fine.

I used Waze with no issues for a trip over the weekend... it was the first time the kids had seen Android Auto in action and it kinda blew their minds - lol.
I just tried to install Android auto on my LG V30+ and get the message that my phone is not supported. On play.store website that is. On the phone, I can't even see the app...I am in an "unsupported country at the moment, however my account, card, phone number etc are from a supported country (UK)
My mobile is even active with the UK number in roaming. How do I make it work please?
Try download android auto apk from apkmirror.

I've noticed an annoying issue with AA and potentially unique to the V30. If I make/answer a call in AA then hang up and try to play audio, it plays the audio through the phone speakers instead of via bluetooth to the car speakers. So far have had this happen twice after a call. Unplugged USB then plugged back in fixed it.
If you want to play with some root stuff and want to watch videos on your head unit, there is CarStream for Android Auto. Obviously, it's not good to use while driving but if you eat in your car or just waiting to pick someone up or something, it's a good time killer. It's made mostly for YouTube but stuff like Plex works too.

Wife purchased a 2019 Outback LTD and she could connect her Pixel 2 to the headunit and run AA, but I could not accomplish same with my V30.
This post of yours, and the information on the APKMIRROR site were so helpful. I am up and running now.
Do you know if these variants will be brought together into a new PlayStore version?
Thank you.
Unfortunately I have no idea what google is planning hopefully, yes.
Hello Guys i have a situation with My Android Auto and My LG V30.
I am running an Android radio and installed HUR. Before i Saw this thread i was convinced that the only way to use Android auto on My phone was thru wireless mode which Is good but sometimes i don't know why it suddenly disconnects and i have to connect again manually.
So i Saw this post and it works the "Charging Only" mode i was so happy !! But then i select "charging only" always when i connect the usb and i have no connection so i have to put it again in MTP and now everytime i Want to connect to Android auto i have to go to developer options before i connect the usb and select charging only then go back and connect the usb to the radio and thats the way it works.
Anyone has a similar problem? The radio Is not the problem and neither the usb cable because My wife Huawei P30 Lite works perfect with Android Auto.
USB is a mess on the V30. Connection is extremely unstable with both of my cars. It is not caused by the cable or USB port. Both have been replaced.
This issue has been logged numerous times on Google Forums - but I wanted to check in with people here. I have the new Note 10+ 5G and having serious issues keeping Android Auto running with my Pioneer Head Unit (please note, I have had NO issues with other Android Phones - OnePlus 7 Pro, Google Pixel 3XL, Sony Xperia 1).
Basically, when connecting the Note 10+, Android Auto worked fine for the first session, then crashed on the second, and since simply won't connect until the phone does a full reboot (then will only work once and run into the same issues). At first I thought DEX was interfering (which it probably is!) but unfortunately there is no way to disable DEX apps or the USB response when plugging in an external connection.
Have others had this issue? Any ideas??
Thanks!

No issues here in both of my cars
This is not note 10 this is general issues with any not stock google android and android auto. Are you trying to use wireless or usb AA? They just got wireless working with non google devices, but it's very random when it works. I've had the issue you describe(having to reboot) with wireless, USB is far more reliable.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'm using a direct cable plugged into the Pioneer Head Unit. I have not had this issue with any other handset - and I suspect it may have something to do with DEX. Any other thoughts you may have?
I use it daily on my F150 and I'm not having any issues at all, working perfectly fine. You can try reinstalling the app if you haven't done that already.

Yeah, sorry to hear that. I have a Kenwood DDX9906XR and it does wireless android auto. I have a Google Pixel 3 XL and the Note 10+. I've been able to get wireless android auto working (as well as wired) with NO issues at all. I do think the wireless option is a bit overrated and even sometimes annoying as it doesn't connect as fast as using wired. I just love that Samsung phones are one of the only few left that still use miracast so I get to use the wireless display function in my car.
I have had issue with Waze showing correctly but sometimes when switch to music music plays on screen but not audio. Have to unplu and replug..I did see new apk yesterday so will try it.
My Note 10+(4G model) is having AA issues..
Whenever I plug mine into the Focus RS(SYNC 3) it crashes at 1st use and the Note thinks I am using DEX for PC and to turn it on.
I have tried different cables including Sammy one . and reset the phone to a clean install no joy
I also had an issue with note 10+ connected to my Kenwood Excelon DDX9905S, pandora and spotify - no audio to kenwood would play. I see today there are play store updates for both, perhaps a fix.
on my car, i have to plug in the phone to the car first BEFORE starting the engine. otherwise i get no audio.

I've experienced many issues with AA with a spectrum of devices. I firsts believed that my vehicle was to blame, due to the technology differences, however I've realized that my Buick Encore Preferred II (ALL STOCK EQUIPMENT IN VEHICLE) immediately broadcasts it's Bluetooth/Wifi-Direct as soon as the head-unit/radio is supplied power. I've concluded that MY issues with android auto came from the app recognizing device movement while I was driving.
Now, I'm no expert, but here's my suggestion.
1. Ensure the USB-C cable supports data-transfer and charging simultaneously. (I've made this mistake by ordering USB-C cables ((that only supported charging....poorly)) )
2. Restore Android Auto's factory settings that came with the phone, ensure any Android Auto data-backups are deleted (for troubleshooting purposes).
3. Install/Update via Play store.
4. Disable bluetooth & "forget" any paired vehicles/head-units on your phone.
5. Remove your phone from your vehicle's bluetooth memory.
At this point, your phone should be plugged in to your COMPATIBLE head-unit***, with neither devices recognizing each other.
6. Start your vehicle's battery/engine & stay stationary.
Your phone may immediately start Android Auto. Some head-units automatically do this for you as a "safety/handsfree" feature.
If Android Auto doesn't automatically initiate when you power your head-unit, run the application.
7. Follow your phone's on-screen prompts to finalize set-up.
8. Ensure your phone is connected to your vehicle's bluetooth.
Worked for me!
Remember, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Same issue here. Worked like a charm with Mate 10 Pro, crashed with my new Note 10 + after a few seconds. Solved it by going through all my USB cables and somehow I found one that worked! (tried 5 different cables). Only a one out of 5 works. My Mate worked with all of them.
Btw: this is the one that worked

Would like to add that the performance of Google maps is incredibly sluggish when zoomed in. Unusable type of sluggish... Waze is perfectly fine.
works fine for me note 9 and note 10 + 5g in ford kuga. Need to make sure you set your permissions correctly and also go inot dev options and enable unknown sources if using things like spotify etc
If you want to disable dex, i've finally found an app to take the place of Samsung package disabler. . It's called CCSWE. I bought the pro license for $2.99. Samsung package disabler from android police worked great when it worked, but they kept losing your license info and have to re-purchase. Since s10+ i haven't got it to work, says something about failed registration or no license.. something to that effect. Developer is not answering any questions.
I had AA running fine on a Note 8 and an S9. On the Note 10+ it kept disconnecting after a couple of seconds. At the end I have it stable, but I had to modify all battery savings options for this app. I did not disable DeX. When I connect the Note 10 to the head unit (USB), I do get the DeX notification but that does not interfere with the connection anymore.
What I do find annoying is that I have the light and dark mode switched based on day and night time. I noticed that the mode follows the day and night mode of my head unit when connected. However, after disconnecting, the original setting (where it switches based on planned schedule on the phone itself) is no longer activated. I like the detail though, that the phone follows the car scene.
Note 10+ Android Auto on 2017 Ford F150 with SYNC 3 Version 3.0
Android Auto on 2017 Ford F150 with SYNC 3 Version 3.0 worked fine with a Samsung Note 8.
Phone was upgraded to Note 10+ and Android Auto connects and works for a few seconds and then does not work and SYNC 3 reverts back to standard Ford SYNC 3 screen.
Android Auto still works fine with same USB cable and Note 8 in either USB port in truck on SYNC 3.
Note 10+ Android Auto version is 4.5.592854-release
Note 8 Android Auto version is 4.5.592854-release

Note 8 Android Software is Version 9 Kernel version 4.4.153

Note 8 Build number PPR1.180610.011.N950USQS6DSG4

I can confirm that in my case I have turned off optimized power and set the phone to maximum performance. I have tried every setting for power and have not had any luck in my case on my Note 10+ phone.
I can confirm that in my case I have run through all of the USB debugging ON/OFF scenarios as well as matching every setting that is on the Note 8 that continues to work with AA and SYNC 3. I have tried every setting and have not had any luck in my case on my Note 10+ phone. I have switched USB cables using everything from Samsung to Anker one-foot to three-foot. All of these cables continue to work with the Note 8 on Android Auto, SYNC 3.
My assumption is this is a new ore revised USB security or access setting embedded somewhere I am unable to locate in the Note 10+ settings/software.
I also tried disabling DEX as that is something new that notifies when connecting USB on the Note 10+ and I figured it might be a conflict with other USB connectivity. No luck there either.
My Note 8 continues to work fine. I am even able to run a Hotspot on the Note 10 + feeding the Note 8 via Wi-Fi connected directly to the USB in the vehicle and that works.
Nothing works on the Note 10+ directly connected to the vehicle via USB with Android Auto and it sounds like it was a problem with the Note 9 and other phones also.
It's frustrating how everything could change so drastically with a new phone release.
I just want Android Auto to work on my new $1100.00 SAMSUNG FLAGSHIP PHONE Note 10+ like it did with my previous SAMSUNG FLAGSHIP PHONE Note 8 ...
Based on all of the previous posts, it appears to be a big problem and I'm sure the others posting have not found resolution, unless they are just not following up with a post.
FYI, Andoid Auto works perfectly on my Note 10 + (and it also worked on my previous Note 8). Using wired set up to 2017 GMC. (And it did work when Dex was on my phone, and it also works now with Dex disabled.)
Thanks
Thanks for responding. Might be a Ford SYNC 3 thing as that appears to be the difference.

I believe (I could be wrong) FORD SYNC 3 is Microsoft (back end).
I had no issues on the S10+ so I can't blame One UI . Tried power settings tried to change USB settings (won't let me when connected to the head unit)
Will try power settings next
My AA works with my Chevy Redline no issues
