It's really annoying to me these games that you think you closed are sitting there with a service open. I personally don't care what the game is or how good it is, when I exit a game I expect it to be out of memory period. Some recent examples are Let's Golf 3 and Crime City 3. I play them maybe once or twice a week and it keeps on showing in my running apps. Even after a reboot they are back shortly. Uninstall, never touch again.

I wouldn't single out every game because I have quite a few free games and they don't run in the background when I am not playing them. Even some paid games I got ran in the background and I did the refund option within 15mins. I have zero tolerance for that.
I also hate the continuously running background services.
Scramble with Friends Free does this. The paid version probably exhibits the same behavior. This occurs even after disabling notifications.

the best is how the game has a 5 star rating. 5 star rating and it runs continuously in the background? Definitely 5 star.. I typically go back and edit my reviews and give it an applicable rating of 2 or lower.
Sorry for the vague title.
When apps that require additional data (GTA III, Spectral Souls, ect) are downloading, I find that I need to keep them running in the foreground.
If I open GTA III, let it start downloading data, switch to home and do other stuff, then switch back, the app immediately closes and I have to resume the download by relaunching the app.
I am not familiar with downloading data for apps so I am not sure if this is expected behavior or if there is some issue with my tablet.
Thank you in advance.
I have experienced the same issue.
Also even when I play a game and go to the home page to look at something and try and get back after a few minutes the game restarts.
Its as if multitasking does not work or the applications are being killed.

One of new features in jelly-bean is closing non used apps automatically instead of keeping them in ram
like android does normally, to controll dfault system behaviour in this case go to setting/developer options/keep activities, this may be causing problems, from developer point of view every app should be killed when user quits is., and android activity life cycle was sometimes real pain in the ass, especially in case of porting apps from other platforms.

Hello everybody!
I'm looking for new things to do with my GSIII. I was so excited to get mine and now that I have it I'm like "uhhhhh what now?"
I'm looking to try things to do, apps to try, tweaks, etc.
Any suggestions should be posted here for people who are just antsy for something to try.
Pictures to take, apps to try, tweaks, etc.
So lets have it.......

apply the latest update, customize your screens with HD widgets or beautiful widgets, try out the different motion settings, install the amazon app store to get free apps everyday, learn the best way to take pictures during the day, at night and during motion....
being disruptive to others is not ideal nor should it be looked upon as a warranted action.
I have the wifikill app I found it on google and it is amazing. Lol

ROFL that's epic.
I suggest getting and setting up "Llama", I LOVE that app! Switches your profiles based on whatever rules you set. IE It puts my phone in Quiet and enables WiFi when at the office M-F between certain times, goes into Car mode on the way to/from the office, back into quiet if i work at my night job based on if i'm in the area designated, then silent mode to sleep and launches Lightning Bug app to help wife and I sleep.
DesktopVizualizer is another sweet App to customize any icon
LauncherPro and Nova Launcher are GREAT
Dropbox and AwesomeDrop are other favorites to make life easier
Get some game emulators -N64oid, Genisoid, etc -can use PS3 and XBox360 controllers with USB OTG cable
Robin is a sweet "assistant" for car use with 100% hands free aside from swiping your hand above the phone to get "Robin's" attention
Ok after stumbling accross this post, I have managed to do absolutely nothing at all work related today. wifikill is awesome. After turning on my wifi and connecting to a network, wifikill showed 186 connections. Going down the line and dissabling one at a time is truly comical. You dont know who has what ip but looking around you see people going like wtf happened. Great find thanks

I found it odd that Cut The Rope & CTR Experiments does not work on the LG Optimus G. I went to the Google Play Store and download both the Lite and the Adfree versions and both have the same problems.
When I try to play a game, the game restarts itself.
If I try to earn free superpowers, the game restarts itself.
Does anybody have this same problem? If so, is there a fix to this?
Edit: I finally figured it out, I had checked "Don't keep activities" under the developer options. This made it restart the app. I have unchecked this and now the game is working as it should.
Just dl'd and played few levels no issues

I believe this only happens to games which have scoreloop or openfeint.
I just downloaded Fruit Ninja from my Amazon account and saw that when I try to open openfeint to see my achievements the game restarts on its own.
Can anyone else confirm this with an app that has scoreloop or openfeint. Try opening scoreloop or openfeint and see if the game restarts.
Is this because my phone is rooted?
If you are on a custom rom, make sure you go to DEVELOPERS OPTIONS under settings and UNCHECK "Don't Keep Activities". UNCHECK THIS!
I've actually had a problem with a few other games behaving the way the OP has their app behave, (Shadowgun, Age of Zombies, Fruit Ninja).
THIS FIXES IT. Thank you whoever a couple post back found it. THANK YOU!!!!!!:highfive::good::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory::victory:
It's been a little while since I've been on the forum, so I apologize in advance if I say anything wrong or miss anything here.
I haven't needed to root in about a year, since getting my note 4,but all of a sudden, about 2 weeks ago, the phone starts freezing up seemingly randomly. Sometimes it will reboot randomly as well. Figured that it needed a wipe, so I rooted but kept stock rom and went with it. I rooted with the method here for the latest sprint update, and for a day everything was fine. So, I decided to swap Rom for the Sprint Hybrid 3.0 rom, and for a few days, again, everything was fine. Now, it's doing it again. This makes me wonder if it's an app issue. I installed alogcat and am waiting on it to happen again. Last time it happened, lots of "D/ViewRootImpl( 6623): ViewPostImeInputStage ACTION_DOWN" shows up.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

ViewPostImeInputStage ACTION_DOWN is usually an app problem. It occurs (intermittently and unpredictably) when an app's view layout doesn't work and starts rejecting touch input events.
So it's possible some app is failing. You might want to disable apps that start up automatically and see if you can pin down a misbehaving app. Of course, if it's not a misbehaving app, that won't do you any good. But that's all I can think of.
I can't tell from your log which app might be triggering the problem.
Same exact issue here. It just popped up middle of last week. I was running Alliance v4 with bob7 baseband. I wiped and went to 5.1.1 with the new OG5 baseband using the tx_dbs_tx method. I have clean flashed 5 different times since. The trouble persisted. Phone will react slow, crash to the desktop (nova launcher) or just reboot. Sometimes it won't even reboot, it gets stuck and I have to pull the battery. Very annoying. Maybe we should compare installed apps?
Well, is there a way to quickly generate a list of apps, and which ones start up at boot?

I believe I've narrowed it down to these apps. Used a start up program that prevent some programs from starting.

Does your phone reboot normally when you do a reboot? Half the time mine won't and I have to pull the battery. I got tired of dealing with it and I think it's hardware so I spent my 2 hours at the sprint store while the tech blew canned air in my phone and said it was fine. Then I tried to reboot it right in front of him and it hung until I pulled the battery. Replacement phone is now ordered.

Normally, it does reboot fine. Sometimes it doesn't, like the 14 in a row mine did, but since I stopping the apps, I haven't had an issue

I odined mine to bare bones stock 5.1.1 og5 official. Installed no apps. Random reboot happened in no time flat. Phone still wouldn't reboot half the time, or it would go to a random error screen in download mode for no reason. I think my hardware is junk, bad flash memory.

Ouch. Yeah, might be the same issue, just worse. It might not be an app, jut a full memory issue. And if yours just happens to me worse, then Nothing we do will have much affect. I hope more people start experiencing this.

Looks like this was a bandaid. It still locks up, but it happens less frequently, especially if I reboot a few times.
So, it's not an app. I almost want to buy an app to make my SD card ram...

If you have the esrp sprint insurance just take it to the sprint store and make them replace it. Sounds like the same junk hardware issue I have. I'm still waiting on the replacement.
I don't. But I did add the upgrade early option. Maybe I'll just swap into another 4. I'll have to ask though. No contracts mean I'm having to finance this junk.

It sounds like a bad SD card to me. Remove your SD card and reboot and see if you still have problems.

Was having the same issue, I factory reset my phone, then the next day the same thing started happening. I barely had any extra apps. Sometimes after restarting, my phone would go into downloading mode, at one point it rebooted into a screen that said kernel panic mode. Took it to the Sprint store, it froze up as the tech was using it thankfully, so he ordered me a replacement through my TEP coverage. The entire time I did not have an SD card inserted either.
