Here is what I have done:
Backed up my iPhone to my PC. Total of 113 GB.
Tried the iPhone to Note 7 Smart Switch multiple times - stuck at 99%.
The web Smart Switch only transfers 'Contacts' and 'Calendars' - message says it has to be before ios 9.03
Tried the PC version of Smart Switch. Lost count of the number of times it got "stuck" on "Loading Backup Lists".
Then finally, for no reason at all it worked. I was able to transfer what I need over.
Anyone have any idea what is going on here ?

Honestly I have no idea...
I switch back and forth from Android to iOS frequently but never use SmartSwitch.
I'm thinking it may have something to do with the fact that you have 113 GB on your iPhone and 64 GB on the Note 7 <- this is just a guess.

I know there exist already a number of threads regarding problems of Samsung's Kies (should be called "MIES" instead, german for "wretched" .
This question is not about installation or connection problems using Kies, quite the opposite, so here it goes.
1. got a Note 2 (international version, non LTE)
2. connected it to MacBook Pro (7.1, mid-2010) running latest Mountain Lion
3. MTP (I strongly suppose, might be legacy UMS though from what I've read) works flawlessly, internal and external (sd-card) memory show up
4. installed Kies (never seen it before, thought to give it a try, again, just MIES)
5. noticed right away that Note 2 storage did not show up anymore as mounted drives
6. uninstalled MIES crapware (once by simply removing the app, silly me, so again by using provided uninstaller)
7. storage still did not show
8. manually searched for everything Samsung and Kies related, removed it
9. storage STILL did not show
logs for MTP:
Code:
3/6/13 8:58:53.000 AM kernel[0]: AppleUSBCDCACMData: Version number - 4.1.22, Input buffers 8, Output buffers 16
3/6/13 8:58:53.000 AM kernel[0]: AppleUSBCDC: Version number - 4.1.22
When enabling camera mode (PTP), Aperture starts and asks about importing, device shows up as GT-N7100, images can be browsed (but not looked at, they all have the generic JPEG icon) and imported into the library (import works correctly, images are fine).
So, basically, has anybody any idea what could cause the (internal and external) storage to not show up anymore as it did before? Missing/misconfigured driver? I'm not interested in reinstalling OSX or using a time machine snapshot, as it's been a while.
I know my Note 2 has the correct settings, tested it on Windows where everything showed up, Linux also worked like a breeze (might be time again to jump ship on OSX...).
For odin and stuff use heimdall.
For file transfer and other stuff use airdroid.
I think it should work with mac as it is browser based. It has many functions. Go take a look at it.

Yeah, I know about heimdall and airdroid, it's just that having the storage mounted is soooo much nicer, as you get to use command line tools, rsync for example...
Airdroid as I told you about

As far as I understand, Airdroid is browser based, so no native access...
Yeah but you can transfer data at around 2 mbps. I transferred 1 gig file in like 8 minutes so it's not that bad. At least for mac.

Woah, that actually is bad, 802.11n can be MUCH faster; this has NOTHING todo with a mac. Anyway, this is not about speed, it's about level of access. Tools like rsync (or any other sync tool) need file level access, so airdroid is completely and utterly useless. It's not about transferring a single file now and then, it's about syncing entire libraries.
Anyhow, should I figure out what's causing this, I will definitely post it here. Damn you, Kies.
I get 2mbps on 802.11b not n

Is anyone else having a problem with Office Suite 7? I've just started off on the Note 8; have used and loved Office Suite for nearly two years on the Galaxy Tab 7.0, then the 7.7 and now the Note 8. I use it to write fiction and non-fiction with Swype. Previously the only problem I have had is with the file for a novel taking a long time to open. That was on the 7.0. No problems on the 7.7.
Things started off fine with the Note 8 until after an update. Then it began to take 75 seconds for the keyboard to appear; a further 10-15 seconds for it to register a single keystroke. As to using Swype to track around the board - no dice. I had the same problem on my S3.
I contacted their support. They had no ideas apart from the usual uninstall/reinstall - which I had already tried. I finally managed to get them to send me the earlier version. Same problem. They sent an even earlier version, asking me to do a factory reset and install Office Suite first. Tried this both with the newest version and then with the older versions. No use.
As I couldn't afford to stop writing I had to resort to using Polaris, which comes with the Note. Swype worked fine with this programme but it drives me mad that, as soon as you have to place the cursor, it offers to Paste something - even though you haven't selected anything. You have to learn to pause until the Paste option disappears (and sometimes that doesn't work and it willy-nilly pastes all kinds of weird combinations of what you've typed...) Also I couldn't get it to upload to Dropbox, do a word count - and it wouldn't recognise my External SD card.
So I tried Kingsoft. This worked better at getting to Dropbox and recognising the card. However, it does really weird things with formatting, splitting words at the end of sentences. So I've had to develop an odd and time-consuming system of saving the Polaris file; reopening it in Kingsoft so that I can re-save it in the other two locations.
Office Suite have given up on me. They say that this isn't happening to other owners of the S3. No mention of the Note 8. This is a pity as I really liked their programme and it was working very well for me.
I can't keep going with this cumbersome method. Thinking of trying Documents2Go, but it's a lot to spend to find out that it has the same problem (and why don't D2G have a free trial version?)
Anybody with a similar experience, or a solution?
Straightforward vanilla, unrooted Note 8 with 4.1.2.
Thanks.
Could be a problem with Swype - I use Office Suite on my N5100, but with stock Samsung keyboard (it has the Swype-like functionality), and had no problems so far. Maybe try to clear Swype data in Settings?
Will install and check Swype later today, to see how it works on my side.
Update: checked combo Swype + Mobile Office -> works perfectly, I'd definitely suggest reinstalling Swype first
I have Office Suite Pro 7 and Swype and have not had any issue like you describe. Could it be there is something wrong with the document you're working on?

Hello. I have a Galaxy S3 (SGH-I747 on Rogers Canada) with android 4.4 - stock/not rooted. The other day I hooked up my S3 to my laptop using a USB cable. My laptop is running Win XP SP3. I COPIED ALL the pictures from the phone to the Laptop. The pics were visible on BOTH my phone and my laptop when I finished the transfer. I am guessing it used Windows Media as the transfer medium as Kies was not running. While the phone was still linked to the Laptop I thought I would just delete the ones off the phone that I didn't want. I did so. I then unhooked the phone from the laptop. Ouch!!! The pictures I had deleted from the phone were missing from BOTH the phone and the laptop. First I checked the laptop trash bin. Nothing there. I then tried using the Recuva undelete software on my laptop disk as I thought there should be a deleted copy on the disk as they were visible on screen before I unplugged my phone. It recovered some 94k plus jpg's and I spent more than a day scanning them for the ones I needed. Nothing there. So I thought I needed to run an undelete on the phone. HA HA to that!!! It seems that in the android developers great wisdom the phone is no longer considered a mass storage device when hooked to a computer but is a media device. MY interpretation but something like that. Next I did a BUNCH of reading and made a bunch of phone calls for advice. I tried all kinds of tricks. I tried a number of android undelete programs. I had the USB debugging enabled but all the programs I tried didn't recover any deleted jpg's. Even the programs that said they could. It turns out that the phone HAS to be linked as a mass storage device with a drive letter for the android recovery software to work to recover jpg's. It seems to be able to find other file types but not jpg's.
Now here is the interesting part. I tried linking the phone to my desktop (XP SP3 also) and my laptop dozens of times hoping something would change. I believe that once on my desktop and once on my laptop it showed up as a mass storage device. I say "I believe" because I was so conditioned to it NOT showing as a mass storage device that both times I had already clicked on the icon that releases the phone from the computer before I realized there was a drive letter there. Anyway, the time on my laptop that it happened was around the time I had run one of the android file recovery programs. The program had not found any jpg files but when it finished my phone had a message something like "SE has been disabled". blah blah blah. I did a BUNCH more reading and researching about SE on my phone. The best I can figure is that it is a security enhancement designed to stop programs getting at, or changing things in, other programs on the phone and is set somewhere in the policies file - where ever that is.
My question is - Is it possible to temporarily disable SE so I can try and get my pictures back? Thank you, Derek-j

This is the international i9300 area, to save you posting this long message again I will get a Mod to move it for you to the i747 area but I wish you the best of luck.
SElinux stands for "security enhanced Linux" and turning it to permissive will not do a lot I believe. However this app can enable UMS on your phone again. Here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mohammadag.samsungusbmassstorageenabler
Thank you...

Oooppss...not going to work. First off...my phone is stock and this requires rooting. I don't know much about rooting and don't have a problem trying it but I suspect that would likely over-write some or all of the deleted jpg's I want to recover thus defeating the purpose. The other and absolutely CRITICAL thing is that it does NOT enable USB for internal memory. You'd think that the GOOGLE developers would know better than to remove that important feature, especially in an (upgrade???). I had even thought of going back to one of the older versions but again I think that would destroy some of the file entries and delete the very pics I am trying to get back....
I REALLY DO APPRECIATE your trying to help though.
Have a FANTASTIC week. Derek-J.
So BACK TO SQUARE ONE...Anyone know how to temporarily disable the SE feature?

Yea there is not much you can do without root, sorry for your troubles
Having trouble transfering SMS messages from an iPhone 5 to a new Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
SPECIFICATIONS & VERSIONS IN PLAY:
OLD PHONE: iPhone 5 (iOS Version 8.1.1)
NEW PHONE: Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910A)
MacBook Pro OS X Version: 10.9.5
iTunes Version: 12.0.1.26
I have tried two options to no avail:
OPTION 1 (Samsung Smart Switch Software):
I am trying to transfer SMS messages from iPhone 5 running iOS Version 8.1.1 to my new Samsung Note4. I have downloaded and installed the Samsung Smart Switch Software onto MacBook Pro running OS X Version 10.9.5.
The Samsung Smart Switch Software works find for EVERYTHING EXCEPT moving over SMS messages. The Samsung Smart Switch Software tries and then exits saying that it can not complete the transfer and the Samsung Smart Switch Software must restart.
Has this happened to anyone else or any thoughts?
OPTION 2 (iSMS2droid):
So I tried to move things using the iSMS2droid application. I found the 3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28 file and moved it over successfully to the Note 4 and then tried to execute iSMS2droid against it and now I get this error:
Code:
3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28 is not an iPhone SMS database, or it is encrypted "iSMS2droid"
The iPhone 5 is *NOT ENCRYPTED* at all. I just back it up locally on the MacBook Pro without passoword/encryption.
I found the e-mail contact for the developer, Jan Grewe, and sent an e-mail with the entire scope for his prodcut without a reply. Looking in the Google Play store it appears that the iSMS2droid app has not been updated for 18+ months.
Has anyone seen this or have any advice?
Thanks in advance for any ideas or if anyone has seen this before.
Hi Geniuses in XDA!
A strange one for you if you are able to help I would appreciate it. (sooo much)
I was an Apple stalwart for years but got so fed up of them being so inflexible and pushing stupid iOS updates on users every other month I thought an Android Phone would be the way to go.
So many peeps said great things about the S7 so I researched it and after a short while saw that S7 Active would be a better choice than the S7 or S7 edge.
I bought a G891A phone from ebay as a refurb in September 2018, it was in great condition. Worked like a dream MUCH better than Apple stuff. Much faster, brilliant battery life and better everything!
Last week (Thursday evening 28th Feb to be exact) I was charging the phone as usual before sleeping and while holding the phone in my hand and the screen locked - it looked like it rebooted, I wondered why did this happen but no biggie so I left it without the charger connected until the morning.
When I picked up the phone to use it in the morn, the startup PIN would not work which has never happened before.
I carefully entered the PIN - no joy, and again and again, then I tried every different denomination of the same number no joy, then the stock 0000 and 000000 and 1234 and 123456 . nothing still locked.
Buy this time a message came up with the 'you have x tries left until a factory reset' - tried several google searches and found similar issues but not the exact same scenario.
Tried loading progs via the SD card that would disable the PIN or allow the password file in the OS to be deleted but none of these would work as I have the stock samsung recovery and not TWRP or similar so the 'not authorised error' would come up in recovery when trying to load anything I downloaded..
Eventually I just tried the same PIN again until the phone wiped and reset it self - no real issue I thought as I have a current full BU via google drive so I let the phone restore the backup to the phone partially, then I thought what if the backup doesn't contain all the stuff I want? So stopped and disabled google play and put the phone on airplane mode to prevent any further data being written to the phone and potentially over writing anything file that had been given a deletion marker by the filesystem..
I did this as my main method of storing records/notes about many things is via memos. and realised that the goggle drive stock backup does not include Memos or SMS Texts. ( I checked through the entire listing of what was backed up on the google backups)
No I didn't enable the Samsung backup just the google drive one :crying: BUT I WISH I DID NOW!
Anyway you lovely lot - is there any way I can ROOT this phone with minimal file overwriting damage so I can get in the FS and get to the deleted memos and sms texts in the internal memory of the phone and copy them elsewhere using ADB or software or similar?
I refuse to be defeated on this as its not an APPLE!
PLEEZ HALP!!!
Phone is running 7.0
Build is NRD90M.G891AUCS2BQH1
I hope I have been clear in explaining - Need any other info please ask!
