Hello,
My wife has an iPhone 4 on AT&T and I of course have an S3 on T-Mo. I also have another friend with an iPhone 4 on Verizon and I cannot for the life of me figure out why I cannot get texts from them. I can easily get texts from everyone else BUT them iPhone. Is there an issue with my phone? I've tried Googling the answer, and I'll I'm reading is responses like "That is Apple for you." but can I get a technical response or an idea of what I can do to remedy the situation?
Thanks all! :good:
GS3 dont play well with iphones. Everytime an iphone user sends me a MMS all i get is tiny thumbnail. seems the sms/mms issue has been discussed here but i havent had a real answer yet :/
I get pix from iPhone users daily with no problem.... I've gotten over a hundred MMS and over 6000 texts from people with iPhones over the last month or so... not sure what to tell you.
Tell them to get an android.. duh

First off, that's gonna be hard to pinpoint. Why? Because a text is a text unless the iPhone is doing some sort of encoding magic that the Galaxy S3 somehow rejects but that shouldn't be the case because if it was, it would be an android issue. And at the end of the day, texting between the Galaxy S3 and iPhone work just fine because I have friends with iPhones and I received their texts without any issues. So it has to be something to do with your specific phone.
Have you tried putting your SIM card to different phone and seeing if you get the texts then? And also have you tried someone else's SIM card in your phone/just going and getting a new SIM from T-Mobile?

Never heard of that op. My brother and sister both have iPhones and I get MMS/SMS from both.

Hey all, thanks for the pointers. I'll check my SIM today. I do have a backup micro SIM actually!
If you had an IPhone as well before you could be linked to Apple ID. If that's the case when iPhone sends you message it detects its linked to ID and your Galaxy will never get it. Hope that sends you in right direction to solve it.

This is a good point. I had my email linked to iMessage and someone with an iPhone texted my email address and instead of going to my email inbox it showed up on my iPad. Not sure how it works with your phone number though.

I actually DID have an iPhone 4 before switching back to the Android platform. Let me look into the Apple ID situation and I'll report back! Thanks! :good:
Well I fixed my phone. It WAS related to the Apple ID. Like I said, I had an iPhone before the S3 and when I had the iPhone on and left on Wi-Fi people's iMessage was pointing their texts to that phone. I wiped the phone (as I'm about to sell it) and that fixed the problem.
Thanks again for the insight people.

Glad you got it fixed! I know a lot of phones have issues with the stupid iPhone. Even Kylee old touch pro 2 had issues. I just think the iPhone is horrible.

I just bought a Galaxy Nexus 4 and I heard about the battery life being bad so I've considering getting a Note II. Since I don't have a contract currently (Pay as you go right now) I thought about maybe getting myself a contract with a Note II LTE for 199$. I love the company I am with now and don't see myself leaving them any time soon.
I was wondering if the bigger screen makes a difference and if it's any good for using a terminal app to ssh into a server, note taking and appointment scheduling and looking at photos. Using an app for connecting to ssh is very important to me and I've had a hard time using them with phones with smaller screens so I want to know if there's a difference with this one.
I would also love to maybe try using Teamviewer.
I also haven't seen any threads mentioning how good the wifi range is.
Any advice would be great. However I won't be able to run the device with an LTE plan since the nexus doesn't support it.

+1 and here I'm thinking that your Note2 should be your primary phone.
I bought the note 2 as a secondary phone with my one x as a primary.
Within a day the note became my primary and one x the secondary.
The screen and pen make it far more productive than any other phone ive used

if you are going to use TeamViewer for desktop, I would suggest to get the 10.1 or at least 7 inches tablet. though note2 has a big screen, youd still find yourself zooming in and out of the screen to view details in the desktop.
OP I actually use the GNII as a second phone, to my iphone.. and I use it so often tethered, that im thinking why didnt I just purchase it as my main device. Its simply the best mobile device ever created imo. Also, for RDP, take a look at WYSE pocketcloud. I personally prefer the ease of use on the tablet screen, over teamviewer or logmein.

The picture will be oriented based on the way the phone was when it was captured. That info is encoded in the image and certain sites and apps use it.
I've never had a phone so that before (n5).... Weird when the pictures is upright and then send it and goes sideways

Yeah, happens to me every day now..... Get most of my complaints from iPhone users! IPhone 4s, iPhone 6 & iPhone 6+. Hopefully this gets fixed, very annoying!

I don't think it will get fixed anytime soon. I have had the same picture orientation issue on all my Samsung phones, s2, s4, and now the Note 4. Seems to work good on Samsung apps, stock TW roms, other apps, phones appear to interpret the picture orientation data embedded in the file wrong. Proprietary crap, on my older bose headset made for iPhone, the earbud volume buttons won't work either... They're wired differently.
If this is ongoing issue, will be my first and last Samsung phone! I take lots of pictures of my 4 year old , 2 year old and 6 month old. Everyone texting me that pictures are sideways.

If your recipient has an android just tell them to rotate the picture lol. That's the beauty of android you can rotate pictures whatever way you want in the gallery. I highly doubt crapple phones will do that.

First thing you need to know is that I've never owned an Apple device. I've been having this issue ever since Apple upgraded to iOS 6 & 7. My girlfriend and some of my friends are iPhone users, and sometimes they send me messages but I receive them late or even never receive them at all. Sometimes I get their text that got mixed with a text that they sent sometime before (even from convos that are days or weeks old) in the SAME message (WTF?). I event get spammed by the same message 5+ times, example http://i.imgur.com/ij8GtPu.jpg which is annoying and ridiculous!
Ive searched the web and did not find a single solution, only thousands of people complaining with no fix. The only solution to this is to use another chat app with the other person, which is really hard to convince someone to do that. Especially Apple fanboys and fangirls like my GF. I suggested Whatsapp or Hangouts and even suggested her to disable iMessage (there's a feature that lets you disable the iMessage feature so the iMessage app only sends SMS to the users) which my GF denied also. -_-
TLDR: I don't get texts and people wait for me to respond and think that I'm ignoring them or I get spammed. How to fix pls?
Edit #1: I've never been an Apple user so "disconnecting" my number from iMessage by sending a "STOP" text to 48369 probably wont help. BUT I did try it today and we'll see if that works lol...
Edit #2: Oh the irony... http://i.imgur.com/7gmUN54.png
Edit #3: My phone is stock. Never did any modding.
IMO, not much can be done on Android side but I remember reading a great article about this issue.

I would maybe call Apple support. Even though you don't have an apple device it seems their system thinks that your number is register for imessage.
As the title asks, anyone regret buying this phone? I will be ordering mine shortly, but I have seen a few issues, like aluminium coating peeling off, purple tint in camera photos, back glass part being awfully scratch prone etc., so got me thinking a bit. Who are already using it, does it feel like worth the most expensive Android phone on the market?
I've been nothing but pleased with it. I always keep my phones in a case. I was really happy with my Nexus 6P and this phone has been the next logical step from that. Haven't once been disappointed by it.
No regrets so far after 2 weeks. Normally I've been the type that goes back to iOS after I play with Android quite a bit, but in my opinion, Google has achieved the stability of iOS on this phone. The only thing I miss is iMessage but it's really not that huge of a deal.
I just don't like the size. When i go back and hold my Axon 7, it feels tiny in comparison!
Thanks guys. So 100% positive feedback then. The main two reasons I am considering this are the software experience and the camera, while former is the main thing. Just having a mental cancer using these Samsung phones for long term. I have been told Pixel has THE BEST Android experience so far, I just wanted to know whether that's true or not.
Thanks once again for commenting guys.

I had a DE Note 4 since they were released and loved that phone. I recently got the Pixel XL (128gb) and actually like it better than my Note which says a lot.
I do but i think my problems are more N related. Also the assistant can't do things Google Now can which makes no sense.

I'm curious as to what things work with Google Now but not with the Assistant.
Assistant can't read you your text messages is the biggest one for me. Can't start stopwatch or do lists in Keep. Just does one list. There might be more but that's what I can think of right now.

Agreed. I have no problem with the dimensions and while many knocked it, I'm finding myself indifferent to the design language of the Pixel.
The phone runs like a dream. Unfortunately in my experience, Assistant does not. It really should be able to do some of the more basic things but to hold me over I've been using IFTT to somewhat offset it's limited functionality.

Also the Bluetooth problem with GM products drives me nuts. Google takes too long to fix things. I believe Apple would have fixed that already. If it's not fixed on this next update I'm going to try really hard to return it. Doubt they will since I'm past my 15 days. I almost returned it everyday. The phone is good just too many bugs. Some were there in the previews and were never fixed. Fix those couple things and this is the best phone IMO.

I was at first a little put off by the camera. I had a note 7 for like a week before the Pixel (The nexus 6p was my daily driver until I got the note 7). I really liked the Note 7 as well. Specifically the camera. And the Pixel XL camera seemed worse at first... Then I opened the pictures on my desktop. The Pixel XL was noticeably better. The screen on the Note 7 just made them seem better due to the super high color saturation, The pixel screen is much more true and neutral. Didn't mention it earlier.
It is in fact the best Google software experience I've had to date.
A solid no. I have had is a week now and I like more each day.

Yeah about that screen, well I really wish that they calibrated in even more naturally. In the sRGB mode even the phones like OnePlus 3 defeats it, in grayscale accuracy I mean, that's the thing I don't like, its still a device which can't defeat other flagship phones like S7, iPhone 7 etc., it should have been calibrated better. I HATE over saturation of any sorts.
PS: Decision is made, buying it, just now need to decide which one. God these bezels!
Thanks a lot for all your inputs guys, appreciate it.

Bugger screen yes, but not big enough considering bezels.. My opinion is that the htc 10 is more fun phone and if u r a flash junky u will be happier with the 10 cus there isnt really much u can play with on the pixel cus of its pure stock android.. Dunno what u want in a phone but the htc in terms of software will be like month or max two behind the pixel

So I've had my XL for nearly a month, and the jury is still out. I have a Mazda, and pretty much every other time I get in the car the phone will not stay connected to the car (and the car never recognizes the phone even when the phone says it is connected). There is a solution when this happens: turn off Bluetooth, turn it back on and then manually connect to the car. Then everything is fine.
Then there is the stutter-ringing. When someone NOT on my contact list calls for the first time, the phone rings for nearly a second, then acts like a hangup, then rings again, etc. until T-Mobile times out and sends the caller to voicemail. The call log shows 4-5 unanswered calls from that caller, and when it is stuttering, it is impossible to get the timing right and answer the call. Once the caller is in the call log, though, it works fine literally every time after that. Delete the call from the log, and it starts with that caller again. Does not do this with any contact or anyone in the call log.
Finally there is the weird times when the phone decides to lock even though it is connected to a trusted device, or is in a trusted location. Like 1-3 mornings per week when the phone decides sometime over night to make me re-enter my PIN even though it is connected to my watch AND at home, both with trust relationships. The rest of the week? No problem, no lock, business as usual.
The phone is great, it is fast and mostly works as expected. But there are just enough quirks to be seriously annoying. Plus this is supposed to be a consumer phone - I was more willing to be out there on the edge with my Nexus devices, but if I gave this to my Mom I would be on endless support calls. And I paid a premium price so the expectation is much higher.
