Guys I need help with this.
On may I sent my phone to warranty due to the faulty motherboard that killed my phone. The second day I got it back I noticed a small golden spot in the screen but I didnt really pay attention. I got used to it and I really didn't notice the spot going bigger. I quit my job so I kinda stopped using my phone like I used to, now I just load WhatsApp from the browser and thats it.
During july I noticed that the spot became even bigger and just the day I lost my 1 year warranty the spot became even bigger and there was a second one. Today I noticed a new one. The thing just happens overnight... WTH??
It's like the screen is peeling off beneath the screen, if I push it down it kind goes away while keeping it pressed but if I remove the pressure the spot comes back again.
Why is this happening? I don't want to replace the screen just to have it happen to me again specially since the screen will cost me a lot to replace here in Mexico. Even if I buy the screen myself from Repair Universe (is it safe?).
Is this humidity?
Yes it is humidity my friend. Friend's G4 has the same problem after he droped it in water, just his marks are REALLY BIGG
Dang it!
The replacement is $85USD but Im not sure if I should change it right now, wait or probably get a new phone
Thanks!

Good Morning Guys and Girls,
Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same issue as me and how they got on.
I have had my phone exactly 3 weeks today I was using my phone and it was absolutly fine (no scratches/dents etc) put it face up on a table went had a showever when I came back there is a very large split in the screen perfectly straight (which would indicate manufacturing problem) going from top left corner half way down the phone to the right side.
I have spoken to HTC and they say its a chargeable fix as the warranty doesn't cover accidental damage but its not accidental damage! I have just phoned up my provider who said it would have to be sent back for them to determine whether it was accidental or not before sending out a new one but then they realised I actually got it through the carphone warehouse (as T-mobile direct were out of stock) and have now said I will have to take it to them as its their phone even though my contract was taken out with T-mobile direct.
This is a pain!
can you upload a photo?
Sure you had no impact before that? Or excessive pressure like in a pocket. Maybe it cracked later.
If not I don't know, maybe some faulty panel indeed that had a weak area that cracked due to thermal stress or something. In the lab it is probably easy to determine if it was cracked from the inside or due to external impact or torsion.
I have had a couple of light bumpbs but no damage/scratches after them and it was sitting all night on charge in my front room got up this morning picked it up used it for a minute (still fine) walked away came back 15 minutes later to find a crack. Noone had touched it.
Normally when I break a screen its a tiny crack and not normally in a perfect straight line. This one is 2.6" long
Pretty upset with this as its only 3 weeks old. I have had HD / HD2 / TD / TYTN etc and really abused them and I only end up with minor chips and scratches after about 10 months. Where as this one I have really tried to look after it
Also to add I never put my phone in my back pocket wher eI can sit on it.
It never shares a pockets with coins / keys or anything else that can damage it
And I will try and get a photo of it somehow - only cam I have at the moment is on the phone so don't think I can use that
Heres a picture, you can see where the light is reflecting is roughly the start point of the crack and it goes out both ways. I just don't see how a crack like this can form on its own sitting face up on a table.
That really sucks man.
I am going to get a hard cover for my phone. Don't want a cracked screen.
Having a look at your picture though - there doesn't seem to be a pressure point of impact etc. So what you're saying looks to be correct.
Hope you get it sorted.
I know thats what is frustrating me. Everyone telling me its accidental damage and I know I am not lieing, I have broken screens in the past and seen many more and I know how accidental damage looks you normally have a point of inpact as you say, its normally small or if it is big normally has multiple fractors no just one long steady line.
Yes, exactly.
However - you're going to have a hard time proving this to any retailer. As they normally have a very strict policy on warranty claims.
I'll get my way I have a nack of getting things I want from shops and businesses
I am hoping like the guy said at T-mobile as its only 3 weeks they might just do a handset swap rather than fixing it.
Anyone by any chance know how much it is to get a screen replaced?
Done some research for you - you're looking at 70 + pounds to replace it.
Thanks. Hmmmm thats quite a bit that I don't really have. Just hope I can get them to accept it as warranty. Might have to visit all stores in Sussex until one agrees to repair it lol.
Well it is even more, if you didn't actually cause the crack on the screen!
Hoping my Desire doesn't suffer the same fate as yours!
Good luck. My advice is do not put it on a table and walk away!
Ill post here how I get on.
I will be sure to keep a constant look on it, while I leave it on the table. Will test later if the same situation arises when leaving it on a chair.
Jokes aside: mine fell twice already. Once it was after a week I had it, it landed from about 1 meter high, 50cm far away after it slipped from my hand when picking it up from ... a table ! (I see a pattern, the desire doesn't like tables). Landed and rolled on my polished floor and I still can't see no visual damage. From that day on, I grip it so firmly, that it almost behaves like an iphone4
Second time it was from about 30cm and obviously no damage.
I had it for about 2-3 months and -knock wood- screen is ok.
It does look as a factory defect.
Is ur handset not insured either mobile phone insurance or as it happened in your house - your house insurance

Well, don't know how the law is over there with you. But here in the Netherlands (and I thought it was EU, but not sure). Within a certain period of time the seller of the device is the one that should prove it wasn't used properly etc.
So.. they can say whatever they want about it being accidental damage. But at least here in this country, it's not up to you to prove otherwise. THEY have to prove you mistreated the device.
Your screen cracks without mistreating the device, sounds like a proper warranty claim to me!
It could be there has always been some tension on the screen, and when it got hot or cold it finally cracked. Who knows. I'd say let them prove you mistreated the device.
i work for carphone warehouse mate i wouldnt no what to do really say some thing elswe is wrong with it like crashing or some thing. depends on how noticeable try putting a cheap screen protector on it and see if it cant been seen then take it back LOL gimme a message if you want any more info =]
Don't CPW give you 3 months insurance for free as a come on?
That's nasty. I dropped mine from 30cm onto a wooden floor and the battery cover flew off and it sticks up in one corner now so had to bend it back to shape!
Good luck getting it sorted out.

One day my phone got what looks like a water bubble under the screen, over the next few days the touch stopped working and would come back every so often. I tried keeping the phone in rice but could not get the bubble out. I am wondering is this is actually water condensation that got in, or something that the screen itself released in which case I think HTC should repair it (I'm still within the year). Has anyone seen this. My moisture indicator on the side of the phone has a tiny bit of bleeding although I have not had any contact with water, (could be from having the phone in the bathroom) and the indicator under the battery is clean. HTC will not repair it with any water damage and want 280 for a new screen. I have the insurance but dont want to spend another 100 bucks within 7 months of buying the phone for a refurbished model. Anybody have any suggestions.
Thanks
Steve

It would help if you can post a picture. The newton ring could be your problem. Do a search on this term and check out the pictures.
On thanksgiving i was having a nice time with my family, sharing with all the relatives and all those typical things that families do on thanksgiving. While i was playing basketball with my kid cousin the little rascal decided to play a little rough so he tackled my legs, to my disfortune this caused me to trip and fall on my side right where i was keeping my Xperia Play(R800at the blue one from at&t), stupid mistake keeping my phone in my pocket while playing i know, and when i take my phone out of my pocket the screen was a grayish fuzzyness like static but with colors, the screen is not cracked and there doesn't seem like any liquidy stuff from the lcd leaked out
I can still answer calls sliding the bottom of the screen to the right and i can feel that the touchscreen responds because it vibrates when i touch the bottom unlock bar. Is my phone done for? I think it might just be that the LCD connection might have received some damage or it might become loose or something but im not sure. Do you guys think that this might be expensive to fix or could it be as simple as just opening the phone and adjusting the LCD connection? Can i send it to Sony Ericsson so they fix it? I got it about a month and a week ago so i don't think i can take it back to at&t since the damages are physical. What are my options any help will be appreciated
The hit was pretty bad it even bent the battery. Also when i turn it off and turn it back on it will start normally by giving me the Sony Ericsson start up but when it boots up itll go back to the fuzzy screen
I would post pics but since im a new member i cant post them until i get 8 posts.

I'd send it to sony, just say the screen started to go fuzzy, can they fix it.. done. if you mess around inside you'll just void the warranty so go for it
You said the SE logo works, but after that it's fuzzy? I wonder if re-flashing the firmware would work. I would assume the SE logo would be fuzzy too if the screen was damaged.

That sounds strange as you said the Sony logo comes up. You could try a factory reset using SEUS or PC companion. Have you got any kind of damage insurance. Sony's warranty wouldn't cover this as this was caused by something you did and not a hardware problem. Although if your phone hasn't got a scratched screen then it might be worth a shot phoning Sony and saying your phone screen has failed.

As long as everything looks well taken care of, no big dents or scratches, warranty should work. You said you bent the battery though..

About 3/4 of the way down the left side of the screen a brownish blotch started to form a couple of weeks ago. On lighter color screens it looks like a bruise. It started faint and is getting darker and larger, it is now the size of quarter (cut in half by the edge of the screen). It's quite organic looking with smooth edges.
I got the phone the first of Nov, 2011. Always been in a case, no cracks or chips in screen, never been wet.
Has anyone ever seen a screen defect like this?
Uh oh.
I've only had bad experiences with this. Its called a burn-in and it happens to screens as they die. I started to get it on Thursday of last week. I thought i could fix it with some apps on the market that reported to help some but it only sped up the process and after a day the whole screen was burnt-in and it was completely black.
if you bought your phone from Sprint, i would suggest taking it in to have them fix it because afaik, its a one-way street once this starts to happen.
if you didnt (like me - letstalk), i would look into buying a new screen/digitizer off ebay and replacing it yourself, but its a rather delicate process. i wouldnt do it unless its your last resort
as for causes, i only started to get it because i took my phone apart and got glass shards between the screen and the digitizer, when i put it back together it appeared in the bottom left corner and it slowly started to eat my screen away and it sped up when i applied pressure to the screen. this is when i bought a new screen and its good as new. but have you been rough with your screen? applying a lot of pressure constantly may have caused the screen to die faster
I got my phone from Let's Talk as well... Sprint store did the warranty work on it for $35.

well.. that makes me feel like a dunce
Hello!
Today dropped my phone and screen got covered in spider web. The display itself looks fine, but its covered it spiderweb. The touchscreen doesnt respond at all.
What do i need to do now? I looked at local repair shops, they ask atleast 100 euros. But on ebay i can find lcd display+screen digitizer for 55 euros shipped, or screen digitizer starting from 10 dollars!
Can i buy only screen digitizer (as i understand that top layer of glass thats cracked is screen digitizer?) and replace it? Or changing LCD display along with screen digitizer is a must?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOIR-VITRE-...Pièces_de_rechange_outils&hash=item27f98e5d31
So this should fit..right? And are all 3 models LS970, E975 and e973 really same size? Cuz i`ve read people have got smaller screens than original from some sellers on amazon.
Replacing a digitizer is pretty hard and time consuming, that's why people usually replace the whole lcd+digitizer+glass assembly. You will also need adhesive and a heater/appropriate tools. It can be a great learning experience if you don't mind potentially busting your phone. There are no shortage of instructionnal videos on youtube on the subject.
Also, a new G2 is only 190$US .... Just saying ...

As i have two other phones. The g2 mini with Tegra and a razrHD. I'll give a try, thanks for the tip.
Well, i ended up ordering that LCD+Digitzer from ebay. Everything was fine for 2 months, now i have quite large spot that doesnt respond to touches. (See attachment) i already tried disconecting the lcd and digitizer..still same. Is it worth trying to flash another rom? I already flashed stock kdz (had stock before too..)
This happened just today, right after ghost touches went crazy and rondomly oppening everything.
EDIT: That spot is changing sizes..form remains, but it got a bit smaller now. Its truly weird. I put the phone outside for few minutes (its +9C outside) and touchscreen works fine now! What is going on?
EDIT 2: After few minutes of usage, the spot is coming back

I had dropped my LG (more than a couple of times) on its face and it seemed to suffer stroke-like symptoms: one side of the screen was completely dead to touch, and the rest of the screen would occasionally act as though I was touching everywhere which opened programs and messed with the keyboard. I was stubborn and just lived with it and over time, it stopped trying open programs and whatnot. Recently, dropped it again, this time it was a bit more serious. Still no visible damage to the screen, but the "dead spot" moved to the centre of the screen, and again, occasionally tries to open programs and add words to my messages.
At first I thought it all could be related to a software issue. Unfortunately, after installing new ROMS, it never fixed the problem. I bought a digitaliser screen from Ebay as well. I'm waiting on the adhesive tape still so I can't say if this will fix anything. I kind of have a suspicion that its a loose connector (the top middle part of the screen gets super hot only after a couple of minutes of being left on).
I'm just wondering if you have tried taking it apart again to recheck the wiring? I think we may have similar problems (your situation is the first I've come by on the internet that is anywhere close to what's happening to my screen). Thanks so much!
