Does anybody know a way to enable okay Google "Always on" mode? Such as in the Moto X line and the newer nexus models?

He means "Always on" as in when the display is off and the phone is not connected to a power source.
Hmm, based on options available within the settings - this does not seem to be possible? The nearest option is "From any screen" (which says "Responds to your voice. Works when the screen is on or your the device is charging") - So does everything he need except for the screen off part.

Somebody said there is an apk in the Nexus systems that enable the always on option , but I am not sure about that to be honest since i couldn't find anything like that other than something called "moto signature app" on my Nexus 6. However the feature still works on my Nexus 6 even when it's running dirty unicorns or cm13. Perhaps the gapps installer has something that determines what kind of device it's on and whether to enable the feature.

It's not possible. Always on needs a special low power chip for listening to voice. OP3 does not support it.

Always on does need the low power chip. The snapdragon series starting with the 800 all have it. It's what allows the proximity wake up, the double tap to wake, etc. Even the OP1 had something that was identical called Hello Snapdragon I believe.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Not sure if Double Tap to wake uses a special chip. In any case, as you have rightly mentioned, 820 does have the necessary hardware, but I think OP3 also need to license and certify it from Qualcomm which they must have decided not to do.

Makes sense! Thanks for an informed answer strangely enough it seems to work on any ROM I use on my Nexus 6 AOSP or CM or otherwise. I wonder how we could pinpoint where the feature "lives" if that makes sense.

To provide that permission. Just pull down your notification shade down to the quick tiles and hit the gear icon. Once in the settings menu; click the magnify glass and search for "permissions", then click the option "App Permissions". Under the "Advanced" header you will see the menu "Draw over other apps"; find the app in question under there and provide it the required permission.

Also, this app doesn't seem to fully support the N5X either. Seems like we can only really use this if you're on speaker phone and that doesn't seem like it would provide very good quality.

Hey everyone. I was wondering how you can change the color of your in-call UI? I've noticed sometimes I've got a different shade of blue occasionally and sometimes I get red. I really like having red as the background during calls. I noticed there is no setting for it and was wondering if it were possible to change the color? Thanks in advanced to anyone helping.

The colour depends on your sim colour. In sim cards you can change the colour assigned to a sim. It also depends which os you are using as it may not be available in every rom. It is available though in oxygen os.
That's very interesting!!! Thank you for pointing that out!

Ya I know most of the aosp ROMs do support that but since OnePlus removed the aosp dialer from nougat they removed the colour feature too. If you install Google dialer you'll get teal colour on sim 1 and pixel blue on sim 2.

There is another reason not to use OOS
Y'all are in luck. OnePlus removed the option in the Nougat builds but the option is still hidden in the ROM. Download any application that helps you make shortcuts to activities. Make a shortcut to the activity that's something like qti.qualcomm.simsettings.
That'll take you to the page from which you can select your SIM colour. The colour option will only work for Google Dialer, through.

Worked like a charm with QuickShortcutMaker app + OP3 OOS 4.1.6. You the real MVP!
Not available for OP2
Hi,
This option is not available for OP2 with OOS 3.6.0. Please let me know if i can get some help here
I'd like to start a bounty for Miracast support on Nougat. I don't think its a hardware issue. The build.prop edit no longer works, tho it gets close.
I was able to see my Miracast, it even said connected, but on the TV "Opps something went wrong" and it disconnects.
There are some logs on Reddit, I'll look for the post to link.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/5agvdo/some_info_on_miracast_and_the_pixel_phones/
Here is a supposed working reddit post, but I doubt it actually works as all I have read is its broken on Nougat.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nexus5x/comments/5111l0/i_just_flashed_to_nougat_how_can_i_edit_buildprop/
Considering that this could be a bounty by all people/devices running Nougat, I suspect it could get big $ and get the ball rolling.
Suggestions?
Nobody?? Can a Mod point me to the Correct place to post this question? Or did it just get buried, but asked in the correct place? I'm thinking of asking over in the Nexus area since they used to have Miracast, they'd might miss the feature more...
Use this app, works for me flawlessly - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tuxera.streambels&hl=en
Fixed mine just now. In addition to the previous build prop fix, remove the pound from sdm.debug.downscale_external=1

So you didn't need an extra app to do it? You just added "persist.debug.wfd.enable=1" to the build.prop and deleted a "#" from the already existing "sdm.debug.downscale_external=1"?

That's a HTC. It's not a Nexus.
Just FYI, this did NOT work for me on Nexus 6P, but this does seem to get "closer" aka, there is no message "Opps something went wrong", it just connects, then disconnects again.
I did find this interesting >> https://android.googlesource.com/device/google/marlin/+/nougat-dr1-release/system.prop
Perhaps it works on Google Pixel XL? I returned my Pixel due to no Miracast, got a Nexus 6P and was on MM, but the camera stopped working, and the only fix was to go to Nougat lol, now Im back to Chromecast + Nougat, but I downgraded my phone.... Missing Pixel, been sold out for 4 months lol, like Ok google, way to advertise your great new phone and have none to sell! (I need 128Gb)
I'd chip in $20 for a bounty on this as well. I don't want to use an external app- as I use ARUR with my Nexus 6p and want the seamless integration.

This is the sub forum I used for my last two PLEDGE threads.
I used [PLEDGE] after XDA admins complained about [BOUNTY] and asked me to use pledge instead.
Android Software and Hacking General [Developers Only]
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking
Looks like that subforum now has a "developers only" tag on it, so I don't know if you're still allowed to put pledge threads in it or not.
I have an unrooted Google Pixel 2 XL running the Android P Developer Preview. When Android Auto comes on (via my car's Bluetooth) my phone ALWAYS goes into Do Not Disturb mode. It's a pain to have to turn it off once the app launches every time. Does anyone know why this happens?
It's a safety feature. You could always adjust your Do Not Disturb settings to allow text messages.

I also have a unrooted pixel XL with Android p. Mine is also doing this and I hate it. I can't here any directions if I am using the app for directions on how to get somewhere and I can't use the music part of Android auto either because I can't here it either. Is there anyway to turn it off. It is defeating the whole reason I use the app.
slide down the notification shade, and turn of DND once its plugged in and/or connected to your vehicle.
not ideal, but simple fix.

My 2 XL is running all stock everything and have read both that Assistant CAN and other places CANNOT open phone when locked.
So what is the actual verdict? If phone is locked and asleep, will "Ok Google" unlock it? Up till now it awakens my phone but does not unlock it. Am I missing a step?

Does the same for me, drives me crazy and pretty much makes it worthless as a feature when I have squeeze as an option by the time I've manually unlocked the phone. Wish I could get it working since I was pretty sure it's supposed to work that way.
