I don't use my camera much but when I turned it on this morning I noticed it looks fine for a few seconds and then a bunch of lines come on the screen. What is causing this?

What ROM are you using? Some roms have buggy cameras. Please provide more info on your current set up so we can help you troubleshoot.
Hello i have recently updated my phone HTC one x official update, not rooted not unlocked nothing, and i had problems before with g-sensor starting, but it starts after reboot or couple reboots, but the camera now does not work , when i click on it, i see only black screen as if camera lens would be covered and after 2-4 seconds it shuts down to home screen, any help?

No.
There is an updated Sense 5 camera apk available that may or may not solve your problem, but if the camera problem is not directly related to your gsensor working, or not, at the time it crashes then it is the app itself at fault.
But this is an ongoing discussion on this forum and search would have pointed you at many relevant threads as well as the updated app to try.
Use search.

This happens with the camera on the back, in every app, such as Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Stock Camera app, XCam, everything. I can take front facing photos with snapchat and messenger, but I don't want to be stuck just using that for the rest of time. I've no idea how this problem could have started and having looked everywhere the problems aren't similar to others.
After leaving the Camera to load for an absolute age on the Stock Camera it also came up saying that it 'Cannot connect to camera'
Attached are images of what I see when I open Stock and Snapchat
I've also tried to use it on CM12 with the same results and various other Stock ROMs.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Just randomly with no real cause, a few weeks back. I've flashed back to a custom stock ROM, should I try and go completely stock? and then start afresh?

Did you factory reset when flashing? And yeah, completely stock might be a good idea to try. After that, it would probably be hardware.

If this keeps happening i suggest you remove root and take it into your service center or carrier (if your locked to a network) to get it looked at

Has anyone had an issue where the phone cant connect to the camera?
It started with Snapchat where i get a black screen with a message saying "cannot find camera, please reset the phone"
After i go into the stock camera app and i get the same black screen. The only way to fix is by restarting the phone.
I've tried to factory reset but that didn't solve anything
Thanks for any help!
Which camera app did you install? 1st suggestion would be to remove that app and reboot

Yep same problem, you can solve it by tapping to focus before pressing shutter, and also night mode during the day seems to work too
When I manually updated my phone I had the same issue. Try to wipe cache partition in the recovery. It worked for me.

Tried that, didn't help, it's trying to focus which is why tapping to focus first fixes it, hopefully fixed in another update
I'm also facing this issue, I'll try the tap to focus and see if this helps until they fix it
Maybe try to clear data for camera app? I've read somewhere that it helps.

Tryed but doesn't help.
I have the same problem. I tried all your suggestions and still takes at least 5 seconds to take the picture. In Live focus is even worse rejecting completely to take the picture. Any other suggestion, please ?

Yes, hence this thread
Tap to focus before hitting shutter fixes it, then wait for an update from Samsung for a real fix
