I'm trying to flash the August update and quite honestly its been a while, I'm coming from May or June. I got an error 255 when flashing system.img... I try to unpack it on my mac but it's failing all the time, even when I redownload it.. I don't know why. I need someone to kindly unpack and post the system.img so I can hopefully boot my phone. Thank you
Have you downloaded the factory image, not the ota, and unzipped it? You'll find the system.img in there.

Do you mind if i make a thread in the sprint android development forum and link your server for easy access? Also I noticed download speeds are in the 100KB/sec. Is this because the server is getting hammered hard by downloads?

Is it possible for someone to make a nandroid backup of their stock ROM, then post a DL link?
Then we could just DL the backup, manually copy it to our phone to the proper folder, and restore it through TWRP or CWM. Does that work?
I've never tried but it seems much more simple! Sorry in advance if that is a stupid idea and doesn't work. If not, explain why!

No that doesn't work because you can't make a backup in TWRP or CWM of the stock based ROM when you are unrooted since if you are unrooted you can't flash TWRP or CWM. The earliest you can make a nandroid backup is right after you root and flash TWRP recovery.
When you do an OTA, the Sprint stock OTA update looks for valid files in certain directories that the root method might have changed and any certificates might be invalid so it doesn't install. That is why some folks who rooted and then do the OTA and the OTA install fails and they get bootlooped. This is why they say if you are rooted, do NOT take the OTA update. If you must, like in the case of Verizon you should take the OTA first when you are unrooted, let it install and then root.
Thanks for responding!

is there a flashable stock image? i had made a backup in twrp but somehow accidentally wiped everything including sdcard when i was wiping.
Am asking because I thought that the zip file we all downloaded could be flash via recovery and not just the flash tool?

I stupidly rooted my phone before taking the OTA update, and now of course I can't get the OTA because my device is modified. I just want to restore my system completely back to stock, but a factory reset doesn't modify the system so root is still there, and there aren't yet any stock firmware files anywhere for the Sprint S6, unfortunately. I've tried using Kies and Smart Switch to manually download the update, but of course our model isn't supported through that software. Is there any way to just return to a stock system? Or, did anyone happen to capture the OTA file before applying it?

Yeah but that requires a stock firmware file to flash in ODIN... there aren't any available for our phone, the G920P, anywhere. I've looked everywhere and it just doesn't exist.

Hey all,
I have an LG G2 with Sprint. About two days ago they announced that Lollipop would (finally) be coming to the G2. Ever since that announcement, I have been checking manually for an update on my phone every couple of hours but it continually says that my system is "up to date." Obviously that's not the case because I'm still running KitKat. Many other people seem to have gotten it already, What gives?

Most people are manually sideloading the update.zip. Try downloading the update and manually sideloading it.
Do I have to be rooted to sideload the zip for the stock OS? If not, is there a handy dandy guide somewhere?

You should use a pc cable and send the file using adb sideload from your computer while your device is in recovery mode. Select update from adb. The update.zip should be on your computer.

Then you may want to wait for the OTA.
But here's the thread on this. There are instructions somewhere in the thread, just read through.

If you're bootloader is unlocked try flashing the vendor.img with fastboot. If it isn't and you have usb debugging enabled try sideloading the ota.

Hi,
I don't remember if this function is enable, and it's not rooted (I think)
What Google app did you delete? You pretty much have to be rooted to do any serious damage. Anyway, Google 15 second adb xda and install that. You have a Windows pc, right?
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe try a factory reset, if indeed the device is NOT rooted or has the bootloader unlocked. I know his will wipe the data, however it is a choice if all else should fail.
I did this a long time ago disabling the google launcher and the phone crashes, and the only way i got it fixed was to just do a dirty flash of the rom. That was on an HTC s-ff and rooted through.

Thanks, but i don't want to lose the data ...that's way i don't want to perform factory reset
Ok, and you have a usb cable from the pc to your device? Google nexus factory image. When you get to the site, at the upper left choose the ota. Then go down to the 5x and download the latest ota. Note what directory it downloads to. Then open that directory and boot your device into the bootloader and then go to recovery. Connect your usb cable. In the directory where the ota is downloaded go to an open area and shift + right click. It should open a dialog box where you can open a command window. In recovery on your device you should see where you can load a file with adb. Then in the command window on the pc type. adb sideload ota.zip. Where ota.zip is the full name of the file you downloaded.

Before i continue to perform these steps - as you say,
I just want to make sure:
1. Is all the data on the phone will remain ? photo, whatsapp, apn, apps etc... ?
2. What does the ota.zip file do ?
Thanks again
It will not delete anything on the phone. The ota is an "over the air" update. It's the same thing that updates your system when Google pushes an update to your phone. It should replace the file you deleted.
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
Ok,
1. My phone is connected to my pc
2. I entered to Recovery mode
3. I changed the file to OTA.zip
Now to perform:
adb sideload ota.zip ?
