I think I am unable to get my phone into USB debugging mode.
First off, I believe I have downloaded all the correct drives via links from this forum. I have enabled USB debugging mode by going from Home > Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging checked.
However, when I connect my phone, in the status bar it reads, "USB connected" should it say something with regards to USB debugging? My HTC phone specifically would say USB debugging when connected. Please forgive my noobness, this is my first Samsung phone.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated, thank in advance!
I, too, came from a long line of HTCs. There is no notification for USB debugging for this phone. If you want to make sure it is working, root it!
Good luck and enjoy your new phone!
Type
adb devices
If you see your phone, usb debugging is working
Hey guys I'm trying to root my S3 via the tool kit in the developers section and I'm having a problem. My phone doesn't want to enter USB Debugging mode. I have it turned on in the settings but every time I connect it, it just connects as a media device any help would be appreciated thanks.

I had trouble with USB Debugging as well...I thought it would show in the notification bar but it does not give any indication that it is actually working.
Either way, it would not let me connect to ADB. First thing to try is make sure you have all the right drivers installed. If you're sure of that...you can slap yourself in the forehead like I did and try a different USB port and possibly cable...I had mine plugged into my USB 3.0 port and for some reason it did not like it...I changed USB ports and it worked like a charm.
Good luck.
Hey so I used rumrunner and got all the goodies and installed the beanstalk CM based ROM which I'm loving so far. The problem is I wanted to flash a new splash screen so I connected the One to my PC and it won't recognize like it did on the stock ROM. I tried on my laptop as well with the same problem (phone will charge but no USB mass storage or ADB). I went into developer options and made sure that USB debugging was ticked with no avail. I also did the basic stuff like reboot my pc and used a different cable. ADB is definitely installed on my desktop because rumrunner worked with no problems so I'm not sure if it's this specific ROM or something that I need to work out in the settings or recovery (which I'm not very used to coming from the OG razr with an sd). I looked everywhere in the HTC forums and couldn't find a topic about this for the One. Also I tried to post this issue in the beanstalk ROM thread but it wouldn't let me post because I have too few total posts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

That was actually my problem. UNchecked debugging and now it mounts perfect
Wow that actually worked! Well for usb storage at least. Only thing is it didn't show up as adb in device manager. I'll check it out when I get back from class to be sure.
I created a thread a few days ago about this...might be the same thing or at least related.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474349
It has to do with how the sd card is formatted - check my last post in that thread.
OK so I finally got a chance to try ADB and I figured it out. For some reason when USB debugging was ticked on the initial ROM boot and connect to computer, it didn't get recognized at all. I did what bdelcamp said and unticked USB debugging and it mounted as a storage device but ADB still wasn't showing up so I went to the USB mount setting and unticked the mount as storage option and then went back into developer settings and reticked USB debugging and ADB was finally recognized. Weird. Anyway I flashed a new splash screen with no problems. Thanks guys!!
Hey guys,
trying to root this beauty and Im running into problems. Been testing around for about 4 hours now, no solution.
Im Running Windows 8.1 and had a few other devices installed before. Cleaned up the drivers with the device manager and USBDeview.
At first I tried the Nexus Root Toolkit, simply followed the instructions until the final checkup. Device is connected in ADB mode but not authorized. (Authorization does not popup on N5x)
Also tried all different driver versions.
Then I cleaned all that stuff again and tried to go the manual way through the SDK. Same Problem, device is recognized but no authorization and no pop-up.
Im using a tronsmart Micro-USB to USB-C adapter and already tried two different cables and many different ports.
Also tried switching through the USB connection modes and toggling debugging on / off.
Im at my wits end here, anyone got a solution?
i have the same issue on n5x,
cant get recognized on adb at all or usb debug
Rooted without problems from my gf's Laptop. So I guess it's an issue with the PC / drivers.
I have latest SDK updates. And USB debug on. OEM unlock on many options on and off. Nothing works
Hello everybody,
I received my OP3 yesterday and I'm quite happy with my phone, but I'm having an worrying problem with the USB connection. Indeed, I cannot seem to get the USB connection working in MTP mode. In fact, I cannot get anything else working than charging mode.
Things I already tried :
- Enabling USB debugging
- 3 different cables (OP2, OP3, no brand)
- Manually choosing MTP mode in developper options
- 2 different computers
Maybe the most worrying thing is that the Windows device manager doesn't see any device when I connect the phone, not even a device with an error...
I'm really starting to think this is a hardware problem
Please, HELP ! :crying:

I had the same issue with my MXP and still have it with my OP. Just can't seem to get my pc to recognize them as storage devices.
A workaround I have found is to boot into twrp, then their recognized immediately and can be used as an external storage device.
I also got 'charging only' mode when I first connected OP3 to my laptop but after changing the settings at developer options I could do the file transfers and all.
I hope some of your privacy setting isn't messing up with it because AFAIK it shouldn't be a hardware problem.
I have the same issue.

Thing is I cannot unlock bootloader and install TWRP because the USB connection is needed for that
Beside, this is a 2 days old phone, I'm expecting it to work flawlessly...

When you connect the phone, Marshmallow by default connects in charging mode.
- Swipe down and you will see USB for charging "Touch for more options"
- Select 'File Transfers'
Transfer files.

I don't get the pop-up, the phone really does not detect that it's connected to a computer.

That sounds like a hardware problem.
I don't have developer USB debugging mode on or anything.
I have this issue with my op3. Just got it in the post today. My windows 10 pc bleeps when pugged in but does not load a drive. In device manager it shows up as the d drive but not in file explorer. Annoying!
My windows 7 (company laptop) recognised my phone first time and installed the drivers no problem. I had problems with my USB flash drive earlier today until I discovered the hidden enable OTG toggle.

I had the same problem.
What I did to fix it was the following steps:
- Disable USB debugging in developer options
- Choose PTP mode in developer options
- Choose MTP mode in developer options
- And Done, my PC now recognize the phone in MTP mode
what i do to fix this
- disable OEM unlocking
- disable developer options
- plug USB (wait for drivers install)
- enable developer options
- enable USB debuging
Gah, having similar problems!
Have tried all the workarounds suggested here, but whenever I plug it in on MTP mode it just shows me the OnePlus Drivers CD Drive.
I have installed the drivers (multiple times) but Windows 10 just won't see the phone when I plug it on MTP mode, just shows me the Drivers CD Drive every single time.
It's recognised as PTP no problems, but no luck on MTP!
Any ideas?

Hi, i have the same problem, has anyone found any solution for this? It's starting to get pretty irritating... :/
Are you sure youre choosing file transfer mode from the notification area where by default its selected as charging only.
Try this
Hi Guys,
Try halfway inserting the USB cable into your PC, I was having the same frustrating problem and noticed that did the trick for me.
Still trying to figure out why the connectors are not responding when the USB cable is fully inserted, I admit that this is my first device using USB Type-C.
strange
The problem is not getting any better, i simply cannot get windows to even recognise my phone in device manager. Tried it in adb and fastboot, also tried a hard reset but no solution.. I requested a repair from oneplus because i think it cannot be anything else than a hardware problem.
guys i found solution on op3 forum... it worked 4 me with win 10 enterprise... download and install update from here... https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3099229
This worked fo me: (i'm using Win10)
Device manager, and find "MTP device" then driver update, find on computer, and select MTP USB Composit Device. It works with enabled Debugging, OEM unlock is on too. :good:
