Hello,
When I started rooting early I used an app called framaroot, its downloadable on the net,and it's a pretty easy app to use.
The good side is that it will tell you if you can root or not,so no bricking problems that I am aware of,download the latest version, and install one of them(when you open the app you will see options)they are named something like frodo, argneir etc,it installs superSU as well, which is good for rooted devices,if the instructions were unclear check a walkthrough to framaroot, hope this helped
Good luck!!

Hi, I just got the same phone and would love to room. I have rooted three different android phones in the past but can find little information on this on. Could you walk us through it?
Im running a completely stock sprint gs3, it has 4.3 with knox. I want to root so I can then install a new rom. Probably cyanogen mod...but I'm open to suggestions. I know there can be issues with rooting when knox is on the phone. I have searched and found too many conflicting answers and bricking my phone isnt an option. Any help and guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hello big guys.
I'm a noob when it comes to roots and roms on phones.
I have been using the offical touchwiz still and is a little interested in rooting the phone and installing cyanogenmod to make it work faster.
I've read that there is a one click method to root called towelroot right now, I want to try it because I don't really understand how to root with other ways on the forum.
And I'm wondering if anyone has tried it before so I can use it and move on to the next step of flashing a custom rom.
Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately Towelroot doesn't support this device yet. I tried earlier today
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2623635 this is the link to the everything thread for the captivate glide. They have root instructions there, and they're pretty straightforward
Good luck!
I have straight talk (at&t sim), and I recently purchased the unlocked Pixel 2 XL 64 GB from the google store, and it will be delivered Tuesday, Jan 2. I've been studying the forums to be prepared to go to work on the pixel once I receive it. I need to unlock the hot spot function, and that is my sole purpose for being on here. I've read a few tutorials, but it all seems like a different language to me. I rooted and flashed my Galaxy note 2 with a custom rom years ago, and so it has been a while since I've even rooted a phone. I am completely lost with what is going on now present day. I really hate to brick a brand new phone, so I'm nervous about using the posted guides. Its not that I cant follow the instructions, I just don't like doing something when I don't even understand the terminology. Anyone willing to work one on one with me in a couple days?
Can definetly help with rooting and unlocking bootloader no prob just quote me
Cheers ?

It's a module in Magisk. I installed the tether zip and have been using as a hotspot for my tablet.

Sure, welcome! I found this in the GUIDE section. It appears to be a very well written, step-by-step GUIDE: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/how-to/guide-unlock-flash-root-pixel-2-xl-t3702418 Read and work your way through it and if you get stuck, ask right there in the GUIDE thread. Good luck. :good:
Hello.
I'm fairly new to rooting and I was looking around here for a rooting tutorial. I found this guide but I'm unsure if it still works.
Is there any way to root at this time, with all new updates installed already?
Thank you.
