So what's everyone using for locking or maybe not locking their phone? Currently I haven't been using any security. Tried the fingerprint scanner for a day and it worked pretty good but when I'm out, if my phone isn't in my hand, it's in my pocket. But I know some people live by a secure lock screen. Everyone using the new fingerprint scanner or another method? Just curious.
Just the swipe action here. I'm like you. I never set my phone down. I've had swipe only on every smart phone I've had to far. I did install a PIN lock while I was in Europe for 2 months though.
I was in a car accident two weeks ago. I was a passenger in a car that hit a semi. During the accident, I dropped my phone, however, due to the driver being an idiot, the po po wouldn't allow me to retrieve my phone because they confiscated his car. (I was taken by ambulance.) Needless to say, I had some pictures on there that I would prefer for others not to see. My battery died by the time I got released from the hospital so I couldn't do a remote wipe. I didn't have my phone locked.
Lesson learned, encrypt and lock. LOL Oh, and if you get in the car with a friend, ask to see their license and insurance before getting in the car. Ugh.
I use one myself. There are some cool apps for this. If you value your information then this option is a must.
Yes, I use Tasker to automatically lock my device with a secure password once my watch is not paired with it and remove the password when it is. Got too used to trusted Bluetooth with the Droid MAXX that typing a password every time was bothersome.

+1 I like my phone private, especially if lost or stolen. :good:
Lock Times w/Tasker
I used fingerprint for about 5 days and found it fails too many times. Maybe my fingers are too dry?
You really should have your phone locked, I believe it's more important then screen protectors or cases.
I use PIN lock and Tasker w/Local Password Lock Plug-in
This allows me to set my password to activate at different times depending on what WiFi I'm connected to.
I set at Home WiFi to not lock for a much longer time. I set work for a Mid amount of time. I then have an exit task attached to both that set it to lock at a faster time when away.

I am using fingerprints too, and I'm having problems getting it to register my prints. It usually takes at least 2-3 times, sometimes more to get it to work. I do have a dry skin condition, and I am wondering if the dry skin makes it harder to recognize prints.

yeah I've tried a couple apps to do this but nothing works. Ideally, if I do use a secured lock screen, I'd like to use the fingerprint scanner. So basically when at home, no lock screen. Then as soon as my home wifi disconnects, fingerprint scanner lock screen. Any ideas?

Unfortunately I couldn't find anything in my short time looking. I almost always have my watch, so decided a password was good enough when it disconnects. Let us know if you find anything.
Try SkipLock works great I have it set for when connected to home network, Bluetooth in car or connected to my gear 2 no lock. Otherwise my fingerprint scanner is on.
In the past I rarely used any type of lock screen security, but after trying the fingerprint scanner, I now have that enabled on my phone.
I hate entering a code everytime is turn my phone on. I use "Where's MyDroid" or Cerberus to lock my phone via text message if it's lost or I forget it somewhere. They also take a picture if someone enters the wrong lock code.

I like SkipLock alot so far(doing the 7 day trial). My only question is, how do you get it to use the fingerprint reader instead of a pin/password. Im not seeing that option anywhere. TIA!
I used to always use the pattern lock but grew tired of it and I am very happy we have the fingerprint scanner now. The only thing I need to do is decide whether the Google device wipe & location feature is enough or whether I need another third party app in the event that the phone was lost which has never happened.

Thanks mademan420. I'm looking into it now and will compare with the third party options. I don't see how I would ever lose my phone but they say you should never say never so I want to cover all grounds.

You set your fingerprint reader lockscreen with a backup password then open SkipLock and make sure you made SkipLock a admin. Then open the settings in SkipLock type in your password for the lockscreen under the set pin section.
Hi there!
I am about to upgrade to Lollipop, two good months after it's officially out for our M8s. Unless I missed something, the wonderful s2s module seems to be discontinued and I am desperately looking for an alternative.
There are a lot of apps around that let you lock the screen reacting to gestures or just by launching them, but all of them are implemented by using the "Lock screen" device administrator, which literally locks the screen. This means that if you need your phone 10 seconds later, you have to unlock with your pattern or PIN again. This seems to be because of an intentional restriction in Android, and I couldn't find any root application circumventing it.
I found this Xposed module, but people write in the thread that it doesn't work with Xposed for Lollipop.
Does anybody have a better solution? Did you all give up the possibility of sleeping your phone with a gesture without locking it?
On body detection works good for that. Phone won't lock if you set a pin until you place it down for a few minutes.

Cool, I didn't know of this feature! Thanks!
But does this really solve the problem? If an app with device administrator permissions explicitly locks the screen I guess it will be locked anyway, won't it?
do we have any app like donot disturb
i just want to turnoff fingerprint scanner while sleeping
Cause the fingerprint is very quick nd it open the mobile completely
no securities while sleeping
Better live with it.

That's one downside dude. Especially if you're in college and your friends want to play game on your Phone. Only thing they need is your finger. ????
Only workaround is to reboot your phone before going to sleep and not logging in because your passcode is required for on first boot. You can even put it on a reboot schedule with tasker

Or use the "doubletap-to-sleep" gesture in Nova Launcher, which annoyingly require you to unlock with pincode instead of fp.

I stumbled on Reddit at this cool App that simulates a Notification LED using the actual screen. It was also featured on XDA and I decided to give it a try on the Mi9T. The App is called NotifyBuddy and is available for free on the Play Store.
My experience with it over a whole day was great. It actually looks like an LED lighting up. Since we have a Amoled screen it just uses a tiny part of the screen, so there is no huge battery drain. Also to prevent burn in it moves slightly in position every 5 to 10 minutes or so from left to right. You can have different colors for different Apps and how long the LED effect will be active until switching off. I have mine on for 5 minutes.
My major concern was battery life since when the App is active the phone probably doesn't go to deep sleep but after now 24 hours of the phone being unplugged I can say it's great. Just look at the Screenshots. I'm at 50% right now and almost 4,5 hours of SOT over 24 hours of usage. It works very well so far and if this doesn't get worse there is no reason to not keep it. Try it out guys if you are missing a Notification LED on the actual front of the phone.

Doesn't work for me, do you use your fingerprint scanner to unlock because I suspect it might be conflicting with that. None of those similar apps ever work for me
Doesn't work for me also, there its no way to make it work
Weird. It works for me
Doesn't work for me. I use fingerprint scanner. Wish it did work though, as this would be really helpful.
I had to reboot the phone to have the app working

I guess you granted the app the required permissions ( asked when you first launch it) and allow notifybuddy to start in backgroup, display on lock screen ?
I'm running MUI global 10.3.10
Can anyone confirm who does have it working, that it works with fingerprint unlock?

I advise you to try this:
1. Remove the fingerprint.
2. Run the application, when you first start, allow notifybuddy to run in the backgroup, display locks on the screen.
3. And then create a fingerprint.
4. Reboot the phone.
A
- I received the 10.3.10 by OTA... (you can manualy check for update into the "about phone" section)
- NotifyBuddy is working with Fingerprint unlock activated. The fingerprints where created before installing the app.
Tried deleting fingerprint before installing the app.
Then tried again after.
Could not make it work. If anyone has any more suggestions, they will be very much appreciated.
Using Global Stable 10.3.10.0
Doesnt work with AOD
this should be a feature in custom roms.

Prof Reminder. Use this app and forget about any other app that involves notification LED. I use this app since i received this Mi9T. I was upset for missing the usual notification Led and i have searched for other options. This app does not consume any battery and is very easy to set up. When you have missed notification (WhatsApp, sms, call, etc), this app reminds you over and over.... Sorry if it's off topic or something but i just try to help! Respect!

Dude, you "saved my life"with this application.
I came from a OnePlus 3 and never had a Xiaomi phone before, and the lack of a visible LED was annoying me a lot.
I had it work for all of 5 mins and no matter what I try I cant get it to work.
After yesterday's update to Tizen 5.5.0.1. When you turn your hand, the screen lights up. What was not before in the do not disturb mode. Active Watch 2. Tired of looking for a solution how to make sure that the screen does not turn on? Thanks in advance.
Sorry for bad english, google translate
If you have wake up gesture activated on your watch, deactivate it and activate again. It worked for me.
can I delete and skip this update version? My watch is working great since previous ecg/fall detection update.

Good afternoon, yes, I did it in wearable and on the clock. I even did a factory reset, it seems to me that the Samsung just removed this option from the clock, now the screen always turns on in the do not disturb mode. I don't know what to do anymore.

It's strange situation. I see several of us have the same watch active 2, but after last update the same watches have different problems.
May be you need to reinstall OS. Just use tizen 5.5.0.1 again. I hope it helps to solve the problem.

Thanks for the advice, I have already resigned myself, changed the wake-up of the clock with a touch and probably will leave it that way. Good luck!
+1 same problem
Hi, this is not a bug but an intended change of Samsung. DND mode means no notifications. But you should be able to just look at the time when you lift your wrist. Before the update that was disabled and now they enabled it in DND mode. The only way to disable it is disable wake up gestures in general.
