Hi,
I need some help, please.
I have Cyanogen 13 installed on my phone, nightly 20160729, but for some time now, I'm not getting my Whatsapp messages when screen is off. They come all at once when I unlock my phone.
I have background data enabled, battery optimization disabled for Whatsapp, all notifications are enabled in the app settings and in the phone settings, I have Whatsapp whitelisted in Task manager, my WIFI is on when screen is on, when screen is off, mobile data is active ( no changes detected when only WIFI is on or only mobile data is on).
Can't figure out what's the problem, Viber works fine on the same phone and with the same settings.
Also, I've noticed that when I turn the screen off, messages do get through for about a minute or so after turning it off and then nothing.
Could it be some setting related to the phone sleep mode?
Any help would be appreciated, thanx
Delete all task manager apps

Hi, tried that, no effect.
I'm testing settings for all apps that control background processes and will see if there's any progress.
Thanx for your reply.
Seems that something in Hibernation manager is at fault. Looks like some process is getting killed that affects WhatsApp. Don't know which one is it, but for now, messages are coming through.

So, messages not coming through again. Uninstalled Hibernation manager, seems to me that when phone goes to deep sleep, Whatsapp messages stop coming. Any suggestions?
These are the processes I have set to autokill, can anybody tell me if any of them should be active for Whatsapp to work?
This is solved, apparently, WhatsApp needs Google play and services to work while Viber works fine with them disabled.

i have this problem with my " mobile data" not wifi .. wifi works fine i guess its only the mobile data when the screen is off it stops working and when i swipe open the screen again i find alot of notifications and stuff from social apps i kept looking and searching before i post here all i found was this and its about the wifi and its already set to never
menu>settings>wifi>menu>advanced>keep wifi on during sleep>always
btw im using wanamlite rom 3.0.31 i guess im still a noob here got my phone like 2 weeks ago or something switching from an iphone 4s
What do you mean, that you find a lot of notifications from social apps? Are they suggesting that there is no connection or are they normal informations? As far as I know it is normal that those notification gather over time when screen is off and are displayed en masse after screen is turned on. If you are certain that mobile data is off when screen is off, look for some installed app that is supposed to "save energy" as they are sometimes configured to disable data (sometimes all data) to safeguard battery.

Ok now the Problem is only on Whatsapp - all other apps sending Push notifications while screen off and WiFi.:silly:
Guys got my OP3 few days back but what I'm noticing is that after 2-3 days that my Android System is higher then Screen usage which wasn't before. Never facing this kind of drain before on OP3 or on my Nexus 5 that I used to use before. Is there anything unusual? I'm attaching screenshot of better battery stats also please do look into them.
Anyone ?
I had the same issue resulting in terrible battery life since Android System was constantly working the CPU. It's probably due to the Oxygen OS kernel. I sent back my unit and asked for a replacement because I didn't want to install a custom ROM on a brand new phone just yet.
Same issue here, Android System uses more battery than my screen. Also it looks like the phone was awake all night tonight with screen off, so I had more standby drain.
This is most likely due to an app that has a rogue process running in the background constantly keeping gms awake. Try clearing data for the play store and turning off sync for any apps you have. See the drain overnight and report back.
Same problem here... "Android-System" is consuming the highest amount of all my other apps ...
My OP3 has a lifetime of about 6-8 hours ...
Yeah even it's the same for me... Even did a factory reset but didn't help

Facing the same problem. Amplify Forcedoze and Greenify don't help

when you turn off auto sync, does whatsapp still work without having to manually sync every now and then? afaik, most of the social apps rely on this sync to function properly and having to manually sync every time for whatsapp or twitter would defeat its purpose.

Whatsapp doesn't use sync to fetch messages. Sync is for syncing contacts on Whatsapp
guys try disabling ambient mode and see if that lowers the android system drain.
i'm checking it myself on my op3
That does not work for me. I have everything disabled - daydreams, ambient, proximity wake, Google now, now on tap, auto sync, oneplus launcher but android system continues to take up more battery even when the screen is off.
The Opskin package is included in Android system, maybe rendering the ui drains more battery
I think I fixed this by disabling "location" and/or "location determination" (DE: Standortbestimmung)

Nope ... not fixed
Hi, I need a bit of help please with my P6 still on 4.2.2 my issue is a massive drain on battery life apparently being caused by Android OS using up around 70%. I have only wifi and mobile internet running with location etc turned off. One thing that I'm unable to control the background apps manager setting properly in that the only app I want to keep running is WhatsApp so I set the All button to off. However in next to no time I find it has switched itself back to on.
I've been through manage apps and turned off or disabled pretty well all that I dare.
Many thanks in advance.
Oh, just to add a little more information if I try to access Start up manager I get a "Power manager has stopped working" message.
Is there some way I could reinstall or repair the Power manager?
Unfortunately WhatsApp seems to override sleep on a lot of systems so you may be in a situation where it is constantly waking itself up.
Try just letting it run i.e don't try to stop it in start manager.
Thanks for that, the problem doesn't appear to be with WhatsApp because when I look at the battery consumption tab the biggest user by far, and mean at up to 70% is the android OS.
I only mention start up manager as it's one of the items controlled through power manager. My real issue is the background apps manager self enabling all background apps.
I'm really trying to avoid doing a factory reset if possible.
So I've been having this issue for quite some time, but i guess i got used to it so it didn't pose much of a problem untill now. All of my Whatsapp messages are delayed when screen off and WiFi on, and they come through from 2-4 all the way up to 20+ min after they are sent. As soon as i turn screen on, they pop up on screen.
I assumed that it was due to greenifys rigorous doze settings, so i uninstalled it. Some threads suggested Titanium backup may be culprit, so i uninstalled it too. I also added Whatsapp to battery optimization whitelist and ticked on run in background and unrestricted data usage, but with no success, and also completely reinstalling Whatsapp.
I even reflashed stock pie and oreo, but same thing happens. I suspected that deep sleep might be interfering with cloud messaging services, but even on stock pie device enters deep sleep even with WiFi on in minutes after screen off, so im pretty confused with it all.
I am running Pie v10.0.9.0.PLDMIXM with magisk, busybox, xposed, substratum, gravitybox installed. Apart from that there are no other apps interfering with the system whatsoever.
Any help would be much appreciated.

It's the system power and ram management. That system kills the processes and doesn't allow them to revive for instant notification. Same happens with facebook and facebook messenger, not only watsapp. Instagram does this also. I receive a follow notification on my iPhone and the notification appears on the Mi A2 Lite only after the screen is on and unlocked.

Oh i see. i totally get that over agressive ram managment, because even with 4 tabs open, it kills them very soon, to a no avail have i tried to fix it, it seems to be rooted issue...
Do you know any possible fix or workaround for this? Maybe to convert these apps to privileged, e.g. system apps or something? There must be some kind of solution for this.

Nope. Some said that this is purely Xiaomi's fault. But no. I have another Allview phone doing the exact same stuff. This may be an unmodified kernel for the said chipset. Companies like Samsung, Sony, HTC etc. may edit that kernel to be more mild, while Xiaomi, to reduce the costs doesn't.
