How long your phone keep on without charging?

How long your phone keep on without charging? (the USB connections IS charging you know ) (please write the common usage (Wi-Fi, BlueTooth, call time, etc.))
Is there any difference between PC charging and charger charging? (speed, quality etc.)
Yesterday I have FULL PC charge and after 12 Hours of active usage (20-30 min Wi-Fi, 20-30 min. talking, 10 min GPRS, 20 min other staff like gaming) the phone turn off.
12 Hours are not much .
If I charging with charger I will have better time?

i think that when you switch off the phone when you want to charge, the battery take too long. sorry for my bad english

I understand you. Maybe you are right. How long can you use your phone without charging?

Around 3-4 days if I try.

In this 3-4 days how ofen you talk to phone and use Wi-Fi?

Phone conv are not draining battery a lot
Same for bluetooth
WiFi more
Backlight, gaming and GPS prog a lot
So first, reduce backlight and screen timeout to minimum
Then find a prog to kill unneeded running applications
With 1H phone conv/day -> 3 days
+ BT 2,5
+ Wifi and/or gaming -> 12H
Less for phone+BT+GPS
The 620's best friend is a mobile loader

Hi,
I use mine all day with wi-fi and a few hours with BT on, so I bought this charger kit and I'm not worried anymore for the battery life...

i usually use usb charging when i insall program and i dont know exactly how long i use it. but when i used wi fi the battery dont survive more... i dont know. maybe you have installed software that consume your battery.... for example photo contact...

I have optimized the system, and don't use the Photo editor or other heavy programs. My girlfriend plays on bubble breaker for 30minutes per day .
Maybe Wi-Fi uses more power than I think.
Empel1960 I am poor Bulgarian man - 30 bucks is much for me . I bought this phone for about $250 and I am out of money .
I have simple USB wall charger and I use it because my original charger is on US standart, and all bulgarian power slots are on Japanise standart. I think that maybe if I found an convertor for US to Japanese standart and use original charger maybe the speed of charging will be more.

what software do you use to optimize your system?

I just keep clean startup directory (there is one icon for WiFi), don't use software who need to be ON all time (plugins, trackers, reminders, etc) and every time when I end some activity on phone, like gaming, browsing, using camera end so on I use Celetask to shutdown all programs and optimize the RAM. I believe this reduce the power needs of the phone.

I got my Dash about 8 or 9 months ago and it started with WM5. I then upgraded to WM6, and now to 6.1. Over the course of the 8 or 9 months I have slowly noticed my battery go to $h*t. I stopped using my WiFi because of how much battery it would suck up. Now I text a lot and my battery won't even last me a full day. I have to charge it while I'm at work and most likely charge it when I get home. Time for a new battery I'm thinkin.

FYI,
A lot of things determine battery drain. Wifi, Bluetooth and WMP are always hungry and consume battery a lot. Than Radio (some radios require more "juice" according to the hermes, also some radios that work in Europe don't work well in the states or "down under"). Another thing that I noticed, WM6.1 needs more power.
In the end, most important thing is how you charge your battery from the begining. Never let your battery to go below 40%, It is better to do several charges than a full recharge.

I have the Dash and I had my battery for about 7-8 months before it wouldn't keep a charge for an hour. When I called T-Mobile they said that was pretty much normal. The upside was I bought a desktop stand with a new battery on ebay for about $17 USD shipped. The battery is working extremely well. I figure by the next time the battery goes out it will be my excuse to get the Sony Xperia X1.

Honestly it's not normal for me either. I haven't had a battery go south like this before. Usually what happens is I end up getting a new device between 1 and 2 years.

I charge it all night using the home charger. Then when I get to work i play music through bluetooth and only lasts for about 3 hours before i put it back on the charger at work. Suckss

This is the price of thin design .
I will be happy to use it for more than 24 hours without charging....

Firmware version related to battery life?

Since there now seem to be a few different firmware versions floating around, shall we see if any of them give better battery life.
Of course we don't have an objective measure of battery life, but we cna get an impression.
My experience:
TMobile UK f/w 1.15.110.10
Battery poor - It needs topping up through the day or I won't make it to teatime, worse than my Touch HD which was 18m old. Similar usage, ie push email, Twitter sync, intermittent browsing, an hour a day ebook reading.

T-mobile UK same firmware
Battery fine, much better than my old G1, need to charge every other day (as opposed to everyday/overnight each day).
Uses (per day):
Push Email
Light Web browsing
About an hour of gaming
About 40 SMS sent
Twitter/Facebook constantly
About 2 hours of music usage - Spotify
Music using BT Earphones, Bluetooth on around 2.5 hours.

That's a big difference in battery life between you two, I wonder if there is a bad batch of batteries?

I think it has nothing to do with batteries or software. It's all about how the phone is used, what the signal strength is, etc.
Mine lasts two days on moderate use, but I charge it every night anyway.

I also have the matrix style live wallpaper running http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/fishnoodle.digitalrain/.
It may be worth noting that I no longer charge overnight, only charging when it's low and until it's fully charged (I used to charge my G1 overnight or basically when I was on the desk, it became overcharged, battery swelled up, would only last about 2 hours but sometimes it would last about 10 minutes).
I also have no problems with signal and am pretty much constantly on HSDPA.

how long full charge takes ? at what battery % you start to charge ur phone?
did you charge till full since you first unbox your phone?

I have my brightness set to half way and have watched a few movie clips lasting maybe 20 mins and have just done a bit of brief messing about and i find the battery drains to about half way after this.
I have not let it drain out yet but it does not look like it would last a day if i had to listen to music surf and do a bit of gaming.

My firmware is same but battery is brilliant for me, try using a power manager and maybe look at widgets draining battery. I'm not using any widgets and have net off when not in use.

I wonder if it's about signal strength. By far the biggest drain on a smartphone is 3G, and my signal is quite variable.

I've just came back from Austria where I was using the net a lot over there for various things and I can tell you now, the signals over there are top notch!
The speeds remain consistent and the signals never go down by more than by one bar.
The T-Mobile network works perfectly even in the Underground!
This I feel had contributed to my battery lasting so long the last 3 days!
I've already noticed more of a drain since being back at home today!

I think if you continually charge from when you have 30-90% the battery will perform worse than if you charge it from dead / near dead. I have been charging my tp2 over night when the battery is extremely low and can now squeeze 3-4 days use out of it.

It doesn't really matter with Li-ion batteries. It is recommended to do a full discharge every 30 charge cycles or so for the gauge to recalibrate, but the battery itself has no "memory" effect.
There's no difference if you charge it from 70% or 15%

That must cost a fair bit on the data doesn't it?
I've found with my T-Mobile Desire that the battery is really struggling and I can't get it to last a day as yet. I spent 3 hours with a friend that has an unbranded one and I saw my T-Mobile rom'd battery life deplete faster than his doing the same things. I think the T-Mobile ROM needs an update asap!

Since my last post, my battery the last few days has been bad.
I've also noticed now that it will only charge up to 98% and will only go to 100% if i remove cable and put back in. Then only to drop back to 98% straight away after I have removed it and then drop rapidly.
On T-Mobile using the older firware. Have asked T-Mob if the Firmware is the issue.

My honest guess is that all you guys will see an improvement in battery life over the next few days. Li-on batteries do need a few cycles before they'll give best performance and obviously no-one here has had their phone for more than a week or two.
I'm sure as the phone is rooted/custom roms appear/htc release the kernel/blah blah improvements will be made, but if I were you I'd definitely sit out any changes made purely on the basis of battery life until you've had the phone a couple of weeks. If it's still crappy after that, then it's obviously worth looking deeper.

I'm on tmob contact phone with my firmware version @ *.11 think some ppl have *.10 so not sure if the ota update will come to me but I've found that if I turn everything to manual update and turn 3g off when not using it I can get 3 days out of it with about 1 and a half hours each day of general use. Before that it wasn't lasting a full day! What firmware is every1 on??

Mine is .10 - the Battery at first was really good, I used it abroad in first few days and was great, 3G was used everynow and then, but wasn't a drain like it is over here in UK.
Now i'm getting last few days were on charge it sticks at 98% and drops pretty quickly.
T-Mob have asked me to factory reset it today and monitor to see if any apps are causing the issue rather than the firmware.

...and its wicked (IMO..I've heard others not have good luck with them..)
Basically, I've gotten 22 hours of fairly heavy use.. web surfing, Facebook, gaming (order and chaos mostly) among other things....using auto-brightness.
Now that I have another battery...I'm going to unlock/root and get to work flashing like I did on my DX.
A question though.. If I use my extended battery exclusively, and keep my standard battery as backup... Will my standard slowly discharge over time not being plugged in? Idk much about batteries..

It will yes, expect it to loose approx 30% over a period of a year being idle. Nothing to worry about.

Oh okay. So popping it in once a month should keep it up then?
I just want to be sure I have one handy because I once got into a corner with my DX where I needed a full battery to .sbf and mine was half dead and wouldn't work...so I had to hunt a friend who also had a DX down to fix it lol. Just want to be sure I don't run into the same problem >.>

It will lose very little capacity not being used. He meant it will lose charge just sitting there. Just don't let it sit empty. Or at full charge.

You should be fine, lithium-ion batteries hold their charge pretty well. I've not actually tested them before, but try charging it to full and then booting up to see the charge in 28 days later, might be interesting to see.
I know my Nikon D7000 batteries hold their charge very well, I tend to leave one in the camera and discharge the one in the battery grip first and just use the battery for a month or so and swap them around. In the same sort of time, 28 days I can lose up to six percent this time of year, but I am going out everyday in temperatures as low as -12°C, so it's to be expected.

For this Id like to know some additional information... what widgets you have running. Stock or ROM and what kernel. As well as settings like display, sync timing etc.

If you want to store your LiIon battery it's best for the battery to have ~40% charge. The battery will age the slowest this way.
Do not store it at 100% or 0%. Check every 6 months and recharge to ~40% if necessary.

This also reinforces what I've heard. Store these type of batteries around 1/2 charge never full never empty.

How long you guys charge Tab S until fully charged? is it normal if my tab S fully charged only 1hour and half.. It suprises me cause Ive never have tab that can charged this fast. Im afraid my Tab have battery problem.

My 8.4 takes about 2.5 to 3 hours on average using the stock travel charger. The 10.5 longer because of the larger battery.

Batteries of this type usually take about a week to reach optimal condition.

i noticed this on my tab 8.4LTE too, the battery simply drains away, almost close to rendering the tablet useless as I use this as my primary phone. tried playing online games and 30 mins later, it ate 40% of the battery (no unusual warm ups) i had this tab for almost a week now and it's still the same. i'm getting worried that i have battery issues

same as me. I also use the LTE ver. It drains really quick which makes me feel like buying a cheap tablet. It only can stand for 2hours plus for heavy user. The screen is really beautiful but have to lower the brightness to save battery. such a waste.

I have a friend here with a tab similar to ours but his battery life is superb. 5% drain /30mins on wifi. Mine dropped 3% asI type this lol. Could it be because we rooted our device?

I dont think its because of root, cause I didn't root my tab yet. does ur friend have lte version also? I also trying to use my tab only with wifi on and sim on (data off) still the same result.

I was getting worried as well. Every time I've used it for anything other than movies my battery percentage has dropped like an aerodynamic rock. Browsing, games, magazines, etc. Movies (assuming because of the typically large amount of black pixels) look fantastic and the battery does quite with them, but for everyday consumption it left me concerned.
An hour ago I asked Amazon for an exchange which they did no questions asked. Perhaps round 2 will fare better. If not, I'll shed a tear as I give up this amazing display for another device altogether.

Yes. Lte version as well. I noticed that when he do wifi file transfers and other stuffs. Batt will drain as well.
I want a heads on comparison with his tab but it's hard since we use the tab differently. This is my primary phone while his is for browsing only. Tomorrow. I'll try to transfer s huge file via wifi and see if we'll have the similar percentage of battery drain. I already did the calibration as advised from another thread and it seems to work. A few more charge cycle might do the trick.

I use my screen on about a quarter of the slider during normal operations is plenty bright! Only need automatic when i am watching a movie

My tab takes around 12 hours to be fully charged from ard 5%.
Is this normal?

Same for me.... It takes forever to fully charge it (10,5 in)

I use a 10.5 LTE and it takes about 5 hours to fully charge. I recommend to switch it off while charging because when it's on you loose about 500mAh (also if the screen is off) and with a 2Ah charger if the battery sees (optimistically) 1.5Ah it takes 5h 20' plus the time required by the slow charge when it reaches 85-90%, so more than 6h.
Anyway I charge it every time I can when it goes under 50%, it's a big battery and needs a special care. Nothing to say about batterylife, excellent.

Most tablets/phones fast charge to 80% and then slow down for the last 20% , so if you don't need a full charge just grab it after it goes past 80% , your battery will live longer as well, as the closer you charge to 100% the more damage is done to your battery, it`s very small but it adds up.

I think the batter is the weak link in this phone. Actually, I think it was that in my Note 4 too. After a good year, my phone started bootlooping and it was the battery's fault. I am not too confident in Samsung's batterys, not because of explosions but because they seem to be not the best. The problem is, if we want to change Note 7's battery, it will have to be done at the service center. So I'd like to keep the battery in good condition for as long as possible.
I have read it is best to avoid fast charging. I also read it is best to keep the charge between 40-80% and not let it charge over night. And to only let it drain to 0 and charge to 100 once a month to recalibrate it.
Do you guys think these are good tips for the Note 7?

From what I have researched from chemical engineers who design batteries etc the best thing to do is not allow the battery to discharge below 20% and not charge it over 90%. Fast charging apparently does shorten battery life but all charging methods shorten battery life. All about heat, so they say? In 'normal use', whatever that is, a typical mobile battery could last years?
In thinking about this I have owned since the early 80's maybe over 100 mobile phones and 100 other mobile devices and have never replaced a battery yet? I have friends and family still using some of my hand me downs and they are still going strong.
Appears a very hit and miss science?

I am pretty sure I count as a normal user. I also don't think I exposed the Note 4 to too much heat or did terribly stupid things with the battery. Did I just get a bad one, maybe.

It sounds to me that you've been paying too much attention to the battery, stop worrying and you'll enjoy the phone even more.

never let the batt go to 0%, charge max at 90%, thats all you can do, and, dont worry too much, enjoy your note 7

To get the most out of your smartphone's battery, you'll need to charge it properly. Most smartphones have a lithium-ion battery that lives longer when charged regularly. Unlike the nickel batteries used in older phones, lithium-ion batteries do best when kept above a 50 percent charge. Repeatedly allowing the battery to drain fully may shorten its life and decrease its overall capacity. If this happens, you'll need to charge the battery more frequently and it may last only a few hours before needing a charge, for example.
Your battery will also perform better if you don't let it charge to 100 percent, so take it off the charger at about 80 to 90 percent capacity. Leaving the phone connected to the charger when the phone is completely charged may lower battery life if you do it repeatedly.

I've researched this and tested it for myself not saying this is the answer. I use to go 100 to zero with note 3 trying to see how far I could go screen on time. Biggest mistake I've read from Samsung and makers of lith batteries to not let it go below 60 amd it's ok to top it off as often as possible. Leaving on charger doesn't effect them due to them never fully charging they trickle charge my wife does this every night with note 4 no issues same battery for a year. You get 500 cycles of charge if you deplete 100 to zero it makes the battery unstable when hitting zero lith don't like it. You get 2500 cycles if you do the 75 to 100. I've topped off my note 7 every day lowest going to 60. I play music for 3 hours walking outside only lose 2 percent of battery. Using hotspot I lose 5 percent in a few hours all been the same the way i charge. I had 2 other note 7s I did the opposite. In a week I would lose 20 40 percent battery with hotspot music not as good either. Learn the mechanics other the battery how they work wiki it. Look at the science not opinions or articles. That helped me in the long run. I keep a Poweradd Apollo with me just in case.

Back to stationary phones I guess. I don't want to have to take this phone to the service centre in ten months or so.

No device can go forever without an eventual battery change. As I said I have owned hundreds of mobile devices spanning FOUR DECADES and have never replaced a battery.
How did you arrive at a 10 month replacement figure?

Yes, mostly they don't agree with you . And ten month figure from my experience with Note 4. At 10 months it started being weak, then after a few more months, bootlooping started and it was just because of battery. I love Notes but just don't think they have good batteris to begin with.

If you have a doubt regarding a mobile don't buy it especially an uber one like the Note 7 etc. If you are very concerned about battery and its going to cause you worry go for a brand with removable battery. No one can asses how you use your phone and how long the battery will live.
Sounds like you had a bad experience with your previous mobile and that has caused you some anxiety. All one can do is relate our experiences to you and hope you can make a judgement call based on others opinions?
I have zero reason to suspect the battery life of the Note 7 to be any weaker than my previous mobile devices. Only time will tell. The battery on my crystal ball needs charging.

I gave my son my note 3 when I got the note 4, the note 3 is now almost 3 years old, and the batt is still reliable, not as when new, but very dependable

I try to plug in my phone when the battery hits 40% and charge it up to 80%. I dont get to strictly follow it but that's the best way to preserve battery life/performance
