I've noticed for a couple days now the adb wont work on my kindle. I have the latest bootloader (v.2.05) i have tried the other otterx bootloader with no luck. :crying:. I've tried many twrps and mtp and adb still wont work. Im not sure what is happening and I've done everything @sd_shadow has either told me to do or was put in his posts all my partitions are correct everything is fine just adb wont work only fastboot will. If anyone else is haveing this issue please chime in also if you have a solution please, please put it out there. I've been searching these threads for days now with nothing turning up.

I don't see any mention of using an otter/blaze twrp to do anything.
Looks like you jumped straight to otterx, which is fine, but problem may have nothing to do with otterx

Well I had it wrong after I used emmc corruption is when I realized adb wasn't working it turned out fastboot worked fine also I was able to flash 2 Roms but in each one the WiFi was broken so I saw the fix and deleted all. Now I'm stuck with adb not working at all

I was able to get adb to work after several shut downs and restarts. I think it may be my computer. I did some searching and apperantly people had the same problem with adb not working but fast boot was they switched computers and all was fine

My phone was just downloading a file and now it won't boot past the green HTC logo white screen. The last rom I was using was one of mikroms. I have tried to restore from a backup as well as flashing a new from via recovery. I get an error during installing boot.img- I even get errors when recovery boots up. I posted images of my hbootand recovery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Use a newer recovery. I recommend 4EXT recovery touch. Also, you're probably gonna have to flash a new ROM. You also don't need to manually flash the boot.IMG since you're s-off.

I already tried installing a new from, what I was saying is that error about installing boot.img happened when it was trying to install the from via recovery. For right now I'm just trying to get the phone to boot up. I don't think a different recovery will make that happen

Well considering yours is super outdated, it could be. Older recoveries may not work right all the time. Thus being why they released later versions.

Dude, even if you don't think a diffrent recovory will help just do it anyway. You can't break your phone anymore than it already is.

You're on an old radio, too. Probably the recovery is the culprit, though.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I'll try to flash a new recovery tonight and if that doesn't work I'll try updating radios. I'll post back with results. Cheers!
Well Im basically stuck. My computer will not recognize the inc. I have never synced this device up with this computer when it was up and running. Only with my rezound. Either way when the device is connected adb will not recognize the device as well as the computer will not recognie the usb device. Every file i try to push to it in bootloader i get error messages that device was not found. Tried fastboot flashing a new recovery as well as new radios but no luck. Ive also reinstalled htc sync, then removed. Recognizes my rezound no problem
if you have a micro->sd card adapter, place the recovery onto the root of it then go into CWM and install from sdcard, see if that works

Are you saying to install the new recovery zip, in recovery? I didn't think you could do that, and it didn't work. I've tried flashing new radios but it gets stuck on the very last part of the update and freezes until I take the battery out.

The computer does recognize the device when i go into recovery. Then when i run the flash recovery command through adb it says waiting for device. It will not show sending recovery though until i go into bootloader on the device. Then adb shows "okay" and "writing recovery....." It will show this forever until i unplug the device.
Try adb wait for device after that

not quite sure exactly what you mean by that...just keep waiting while it says waiting for device while in recovery? I waited about 20 minutes..then tried waiting another 30 minutes while it was saying "writing recovery" while in bootloader
So im pretty sure the device is just done for at this point. I decided to just try to flash the device back to stock with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599767.. This also just got stuck on the recovery section. Should i just give up? lol
Will there eventually be an app for unlocking the bootloader on the 10.3 firmware? I don't have the factory cable and it sounds like a lot of people have bricked their device doing the downgrade to 10.2.
I hope so. I am not gonna even try it... Lol instead rooted it and used Kindlefree app to install Nova and used titanium backup. So it's "like" Android but not quite lol....

But if I downgrade my bootloader I won't have to use the whole 2nd bootloader method and all that right? Won't I then just be able to use some utility to flash TWRP and then flash a ROM? This Kindle thing is probably a little more intimidating than anything else I've messed with. I have mine rooted and a bunch of other hacks but I want pure Android on. I don't want a brick though..

What about all that craziness I have been reading about locking up the bootloader due to the 10.3.1 bootloader? I can just forget about that and install that apk file and THEN I would be able to flash a ROM via TWRP? I thought that the thread said that this tool said it was for the old bootloader. So, it looks like I have screwed something up. This figures as my luck is terrible with this freegin Kindle. So I got TWRP recovery working fine. I DL Cyanogenmod 10.1 and Gapps accordingly. Went into TWRP of course made a backup, then went to flash. I wiped EVERYTHING and went to flash the ROM. I received the error <Could Not Open .zip> So now I have nothing on file except a bad .zip. I did re-download the ROM assuming it was bad and restored my TWRP backup. Now I am stuck in what appears to be a Kindle Bootloop. The Kindle Fire (Orange) logo comes up, a few seconds later it blinks back off again and recycles. Now what? I can't get the Kindle to boot so I can put the .zip back on the machine. I am STUCK. I did the exact same thing when i got my kindle back in January. (Yeah, i had to order my cable right after that )
For some reason I've never been able to restore a stock TWRP backup on the kf2. It always borks the bootloader.
I know there is a special requirement that our bootloader uses a file called stack on the system partition- that's why you can't get into recovery now (when you wiped the system it wiped the stack file which let's us run the second bootloader.)
Anyway, Once you have the fastboot cable its really easy to get things going again. Pm me if you need a hand.. I've been through this myself a few times lol.
If you ever end up in the same situation again where you wiped the system and the zip is bad... Stay in twrp and use "adb sideload" to push a good zip from pc.

**As a special note however DO NOT restore your factory backup if you have trouble. You will end up like me. Bootlooping with a fast boot cable in the mail.** if I could go back in time I would've downloaded the files via a hard line rather than slow wifi and maybe even double downloaded.. Oh well. I recommend you read everything in that thread. Then read some more.
What I wrote in the original post is pretty self-explanatory. If you don't understand something I said then you haven't read enough.
This is NOT a basic device to work on. I also see you started in the Kindle fire 1 forums. If you flashed anything there you're already screwed.

Because adb doesn't work with fastboot, with fastboot you use fastboot commands. Once its in fastboot I suggest using this to restore it to working order: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888

The main thing is to have the right versions adb and fast boot available and you should be able to restore ok.

The OP has a problem, and what happens? 2 users get in a territory dispute
And now a Mod has to do clean-up. If you 2 wanna argue, go take it to the playground or something.
And if you can't post something more constructive to the issue, then just don't post.
In the meantime, the OP still has an issue, so hopefully some of the KF folks that want to help will get your issue fixed.

I understand that your need to flash a new .IMG and a new system image. I believe that your download then has those files. I see from the text that I out the text/code into fastboot with kindle connect with fastboot cable. Then should reboot and work. Is that right? Does kindle have to show in adb devices for this to work as its not for me...
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
ADB is for pushing and fastboot is for flashing. No, while in fastboot you won't see ADB recognized. Try typing fast boot devices to see if fastboot is set up right and type fastboot getvar all in the command prompt to see if your device is recognized. Also if you're running Windows 7 X64 or Windows 8 you should disable Windows driver enforcement first.

Hey guys so I have a rooted kindle fire 1st gen running 6.3.3. I rooted it no problem and got the play store and have just been chilling. Recently I wanted to install a custom rom so I downloaded cm11 and gapps and went to twrp (here comes the mistake). IFirst, I realized that my version of twrp was too low (2.2.1) so I downloaded 2.7 and flashed that. Then I wiped system, data, cache, and delvik cache, and then realized I lost the rom to install. So now I was stuck on twrp with no os and not able to boot. I powered off the kindle so I could connect it to the computer and then adb push a rom onto it. Now when I try to boot the kindle into recovery it shows the blue teamwin logo and then stays at that, occasionally flashing black as if it was trying to load. Any help on how to fix this because now I can't even get into recovery and I can't boot.
If you can get into twrp there is an option to mount usb which makes it show up on the pc as an external drive to easily transfer rom file to. May need a factory reboot usb cable at this point or try to run the rooting utility again if it shows up as add device to reinstall recovery

Sorry I forgot to edit the post I read the end of your forum and updated my rom and flashed cm11 successfully, but when I tried to flash the gapps after successfully booting, my kindle got stuck on the boot animation.

It can take up to 10 mins to boot a Rom, any longer than that, probably isn't going to boot.

So I followed all of your advice and now I'm smoothly running cm11 with your reccommended gapps. However, I can't reboot my kindle as when I do, it gets stuck on the cm11 boot animation and I have to go back to recovery and reinstall the cm11 and gapps. Any suggestions?

Hey all!
I'm sorry if there's a post about this somewhere and I missed it but I looked and couldn't find anything.
I recently bought a 1st gen Kindle Fire off a friend of mine and I want to root it so I can have a bit more usability than what it comes with. The problem is that it's running 6.3.4 and I've only been seeing root help and tools for 6.3.2 and lower. I tried using the KFU but the root tool there wasn't able to perform the necessary operations (it just restarts in fastboot and won't continue from there). Does anyone have any tips or advice for how I would still be able to root this device? I've even looked into trying to revert back to 6.3.2 but haven't found anything that allows for that.
Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

Okay, so I followed all of the steps to the letter on the first post you listed and its rooted and have Google apps on there now through KFU. The problem is now that I can't install TWRP or FireFireFire. It goes back to not working in fastboot. I'm pretty new to rooting but I want to put some version of android onto this but I can't find any troubleshoot for this particular problem.

When I try to push the fbmode file to the kindle it keeps saying device not found (adb push fbmode /data/local/tmp). Its one of the first steps. I have the drivers installed and the computer is recognizing the device is connected but it's not going any further. I tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing's worked so far.

I did, and then when I was ready to do it myself I put it back on with the intention of following you step by step but I got stopped right here in the beginning. I have the C drive adb folder with all of the files you listed and I verified each download.

I've tried it with two different USB cables in every port on my computer with no luck. I even tried my old Motorola USB cable that I used to root my Droid years ago with no success.
