Hello,
I am having this issue since i have updated my phone to marshmallow.
When i set "screen lock type to fingerprint" and try to unlock my phone with fingerprint i am getting this.
Enter pattern instead of using fingerprint recognition because of security policy
Is there any way around to always use fingerprint.
Thank you.
Do you long press the home button to turn the screen off?
It's Samsung security ..no way around it... It usual happens if.. 1~uturn off screen than turn it back on immediately..2~if your screen been off a while..it's no bug... It's part of Samsung 6.0.1 security
I don't believe that's true. The only time fingerprint asks me for an additional password/pattern is the first time after I reboot and if I turn off the screen by long pressing the home button.

I use double tap to turn of the screen
Use the power button instead if you want to use fingerprint

Is there a way to change the lock button on the right to more of a soft lock.
every time i hit it, i have to enter my pin in again. so it would be nice if the button acted more like the screen timeout.
Any ideas?
You could turn off your lock password?
I can't. The phone has to be connected to our exchange server, which requires a pin at the minimum.
I don't know if you have owned a blackberry, but if you press the lock button it doesn't require your pin to be entered until a set amount of time, but still sleeps the display and doesn't allow input.
There is an app on the market that may do what your looking for - "Password Delay Full". There is also a free version but I don't know what the differences are, I figure it's better to get the paid one to support the devs!
There is a built in lock delay right?

Yes, once your lock is set up go to Settings>Location and Security>Timeout

Yes, with this option you can set delay upto 30 min. for the screen to lock out after it has been turned off.

That doesn't work. It says "Lock screen 'X' minute/s after screen automatically turns off."
That means if you leave your phone there with the screen on, it will lock X minutes after the screen turns off by itself. If you press the lock button, only way to unlock is with passcode. My Sensation didn't do this, hopefully there's an easy option on this phone.

Right, I have the same problem and am looking for a solution. HTC Sense has this working properly, but on Samsung the power key does the full screen off + lock rather than just screen off and let the lock delay lock it.
Very annoying. I'm guessing that a Samsung TW update or a new ROM could fix it.
So I set my phone to use a PIN and to lock 10 minutes after timeout; power button does NOT lock instantly.
For whatever reason when I turn the screen off and turn it back on I need to swipe on the screen but not enter a pin.
In every phone I've ever had turning the screen on before the pin is activated would go straight to my home screen, how do I fix this?

You can't. That actually sounds like a pretty terrible idea to me. The point of at least swipe to unlock is to prevent accidental screen touches if your screen turns on in your pocket.
Hi,
Can anyone confirm if they have the same issue. I have set up the lock with either code or finger print, but i have notice that i can sometimes get into the device without either.
Tap power button - slide screen up (to access code screen) - Hit Emergency - when emergency dial screen shows, hit the back button.
this has worked on my device a number of times, but i'm wondering if its a common fault, so something specific to settings i have.

possibly it's not a bug, i think your fingerprint was verified after pressing the power button.
you can wake the phone by double clicking the screen and don't touch the power button, if you can still unlock the phone without inputting code then it may be a bug

thought that with the finger print myself, so i used a finger that wasn't linked to it. Double tapping the screen didn't work. Again, it was still happening intermitantly.

I don't think it's a bug as my z5 is connected to my Microsoft band 2 via Bluetooth and after I paired it with my phone I was given an option to add the Microsoft band 2 as authorised device or something.. I did not bother to read the rest and chose OK, so now when ever I am wearing my Microsoft band 2 my z5 do not ask for password or finger print. I also thought that when I power up my z5 with power button it unlocked automatically with my finger print so I woke my z5 with double tap on the screen and slide up the lock screen and it did not ask for any password...

This is my first note so I'm not sure if there is a way to do this. On my s8+ if the screen was off I was able to tap the area where the home button is and the phone screen would turn on. Is this possible with the note if I have AOD off? Or is the only way to turn on the phone on via pressing the paper button?

Hello,
On advance Features in the section for motion and gestures. You can select Double tap to wake.
This should let you Double tap the screen to wake it up.
If you want to go into phone, if you know where the fingerprint is you should be able to log in without turning phone on. But that is if you can get it at the spot it is.
They removed the has gone button as it will cause issues with the fingerprint reader.
Thank you!! Double tap to wake the screen works perfectly for me!
plz guys ! i notice that when i unfold the phone its open without lock screen ?
but i have great lock screen wallpaper i cant see him so how can i unfold the phone and see the lockscreen?
Do you see a lock screen if you leave the phone open and press the power button (to lock the phone) than press it again (turning the screen back on) while making sure not to use a finger you have set up with fingerprint unlock?

I don't think you're going to get what you want. It's a very niche desire you have.
Not many people want to have no protection of their device but still want to have to clear a lock screen stay opening their phone.

Because, the assumption is if you pick up your phone while closed you'll either use the lock screen on the outside screen or open the device to use it fully.
If you leave it open and less the power button, you want it to lock. It will then show the lock screen of you press the post button again because that's the default behavior. Show lock screen on current screen.
If you unlock the Fold 3 while it's closed then it won't have lock screen when unfolding. Since device is already been unlocked when it was closed. So to avoid this you have to unfold the device first then unlock that way you will see lock screen.
