Hi,
I have had a TP2 for several years, working fine.
Until couple of weeks ago, with no reason or event, the battery suddently went very hot, the TP2 would reboot on its own, the battery drained in 10s of minutes, then died.
I could not recharge the battery (orange led blinking during recharge), so bought a new one.
I soft, then hard reset my TP2 - same symptoms.
I changed the battery to a new one (HTC build) - same.
I reflashed the ROM with latest ROM release (March 2010, 2.07.406.1) - same.
I did all above with no microSD card in - same.
I looked for parasite application running in the background (using SK tools), but found none.
I reviewed the forum but found no solution to this issue for TP2.
It seems however very close to issue encountered by other users on HD2/Leo. [such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=716288
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=716288]
This would point to hardware problem - which is strange with a device I have had for years with no issue.
So symptoms with my TP2/Rhodium are :
. I can load my battery (to 100%);
. the battery will get very hot;
. the battery drains quickly (such as 100% to 50% in 20 mins).
Has anybody encountered similar issues ?
Any idea/suggestion on how to solve it ?
Thanks !!
You've done a pretty thorough job. You mention the ROM it's flashed to, but is that stock for your device? Or were you flashing something aftermarket?
Since there's not much left to try, I would task29, and flash stock ROM. It should flash a radio with it, once it's done perhaps flash the newest radio for your device as well. Perhaps then? Good luck.
Thanks, arrrghhh (sounds funny when written, though
I flashed with latest HTC release for my device (although not the original one). I'll try your suggestionand see if I can get hold of the original ROM.
What do you mean by task29, though ? [edit: found that - will format, although I thought I had already]
I had a Tilt II do the same thing... working fine one day, hot and ultra quick battery drain with no charging the next. I ended up writing it off to hardware failure. The only thing I've seen that you haven't tried is to clean the charging port of dust/moisture and check it for damage.
Hi,
New to my LG G3 and just had a thermal runaway where the phone crashed and rebooted, and CPU-Z showed most of the sensors at 95Centigrade. After the phone sat for a bit, it's back to 50 C. I think this has been happening fairly often, maybe once a day, in this case it happened while charging wirelessly, and yesterday while talking on the phone.
Running Android 4.4.2 the 12B version. Rooted.
Is there something I can do to fix this? I really don't like having an unstable phone.
try clean flash rom using lg flashtool.if also not solved then try changing the battery.

don't want to redo the rom, too much work. How would changing the battery make a difference?
Overheating too on BareCee - Sprint LG G3

I've been having similar issues. Just installed CPU-z but it's not doing it right now. My phone has overheated so bad a couple of times that the screen starts flashing on/off (screen backlight stays on...image flashes) and then after a few flashes, it reverts to stock background and keeps flashing. I have to pull battery to get it to quit. Once it's back on I still have the stock wallpaper and have to change it back. It's still there....dunno what's going on! Phone almost always seems hot in shirt pocket anymore.

well you do know that phone says high temp and will shutdown only when battery temp gets over 50 celcius so battery temp is also important here.many users who faced overheating prob got their prob fixed by changing the battery ao i thought u could have had the same prob so i suggest u that.try it.who knows it could work.or if u just bought ur phone then go replace it with another one.
Hello friends, first thank you all for the wonderful community they built. Excuse me errors because the English language is not my native language.
Well now I tell them my mystery to solve ... because I have in my hands about 5 terminals LG G3 D851 tmobile and it all with the same problem: work well except that when the battery is approximately 20% or sometimes up to 30% the terminal after placing a call goes out or restarts. This also happens to me if I do something that requires a high consumption of battery such as making a video with active flash ... finally after reaching a battery level below 30% the phone restarts or shuts down when attempting .He tried very many calls batteries including new or original and all supposedly have obtained similar results. My question is if it will be a battery problem, the well terminal or some firmware. I tried taking android lollipop and marshmallow and does exactly the same so I think it is not a software problem. Another useful test I have done is test the battery terminals lg g3 but specifically the normal work d855 which inclines me to think it's a problem the phone .... but then there comes another concern me: perhaps will be many damaged terminals together? I say this because as I counted 5 D851 mobiles and all with the same problem. In short, they think about this?
Thank you so much everyone
My G3 has recently starting to restart several times a day. Running stock Lollipop 5.0. Just did a reset and restore and it just restarted again.
Is my G3 "dying"?
No your G3 isn't dying, but, your battery is. Get a replacement battery, preferably same as the original battery.
I've had my g3 for 2.3 years, and it suddenly went into boot loop one day after charging the phone. The boot loops for around 3 or 4 times then stopped and stayed shut down, got it to repair shop yet they claimed that it wasn't hardware issue but software. I doubt that as I've updated my g3 to android 6.0 last October and has been working fine since. However, just to note that I was charging with a broken cable last time before it went into this boot loop. What's the problem with the phone and how can I retrieve my stuff as i haven't backed up yet. Is this problem fixable as I am trying to avoid factory reset and data wiping at all costs.
I had the same problem , it happend suddenly 2 days ago and i am trying to solve this stupid problem but so far no solution.
I upgrade it to 6.0 then downgrade 5.0 tried different versions but no solution.
Wierd thing is just started from nowhere.
Kind of Cpu and heating related but not sure what can be the solution cuz when the phone is colder not restarting that much like warmer.

I haven't tried a new battery, yet I have two batteries, one was the original and other was bought at the same time I got my phone 2 .3 years ago, I have also tried to boot my phone plugged in, and even safe mode, but no success. Both methods only took it into the boot loop.

First thing i bought new battery but didnt help at all.
It is most probably cpu heat sink problem , that heat sink doesnt work anymore i guess . Now phone works like normal with low cpu freq. but a bit slower ..
One day i will try to change heat sink on cpu but dont know when

So do you have similar problem? and how did you get it to work at low cpu frequency, I don't mind it being a bit slower as long as I get back to my data on my phone.

I have same problem but mine at least opening .. when you can not start the phone , you can not change the freq of cpu.
I did mine with root and app called "no frill cpu"
For starting you can try to put your phone in to freezer 2 or 3 mins (not make super cold) and then start it when it is cold , i managed to use my phone like this around 10 min. so then u can change cpu freq
But today it turn off itself and so far couldnt turn on again ... looks like it gets worse in time..

No problem , tell me if it works.
I just try right now mine and all day it was restarting but i put it in freezer 2 min. and tried and it turn on ..
I am wondering all problems are same from cpu
Few mins. ago i opened up my lg g3 and apply heat sink on cpu chipset and so far it works really better than before
I even tried normal cpu freqs. and it didnt restarted , before using heatsink it was not even possible to see main menu on high freqs.
I was already thinking to buy new phone and spend so much money but then i give it a try and it works. I dont know how long it would help but so far so good.
So i would recommend anyone who has this bootloop problem to try heatsink gel on cpu if still problem continue then you can throw away the phone i guess
Hello, I've battery problem and it keeps restarting by itself, So I decided to buy new battery and with new battery still problem exist and it's random, after 2-3 min usage it restarts.
What should I do ? the phone was working very good a few days ago and that battery was fine until this stupid restarting happened and even I flashed the stock Rom but it didn't fix it.

Thanks for videos, I don't know how but I was able to use the phone for 3-4 hours and for test I used Antutu benchmark and I got 53.000 score, When I tried to charge the phone it turned off and I tried to turn it on again it stuck on Lg logo and I heard some noises sound and phone stuck on logo ( sometimes it has boot loop), For now I turned off the phone and tomorrow I'm gonna buy Thermal paste, Hopefully it will fix it.
Did you have the same kinda of problem ? Like phone stuck on Lg logo or it turn off after you try to turn it on .
How do I know if my G3 is dead? It doesn't do **** when I try to turn it on, it just vibrates and stays there. When I connect it to pc, it detects a connection but nothing happens. This happened earlier this morning and it doesn't want to boot back up no matter what I try.

My phone suddenly turned off and repeated to try to turn on itself but sometimes it was just bootlooping on lg logo sometimes just seeing lock screen and turning off . Noise stuff i dont know but mechanically there is nothing to make sound i think so dont know from what but i never had it.
You can try another working battery and software format. If these doesnt work then you can make thermal paste thing .. but if you think it is easy to do thermal thing then just start with that.
There is no point in software changes -- it's a hardware issue. I don't understand why no one checks the forum before asking -- there is a ton information written on here alone, and how to fix the issue.
You need to fix the loose connections and heat problems of the phone.
Thats right. All you have to do is applying a thermal on SoC. It did work for me
