Do you want to improve your battery life ? I don't guarantee it will work but give it a try, you don't have anything to lose:
1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more
2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour
3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another 1 hour.
If you believe you have improvement, please report back.
Turn off the device for 2 hours and charging for 8 hours is totally waste. But it may improve battery life as u have tested.
We can have good battery life if we do a charge for 3 hours daily. And also the battery can last 1.5 days easily.

2 minutes not 2 hours. The point is to make the phone think that it lost some juice and attempt to charge again to its limits.

It may very well improve the battery but who has time to do that everyday?
I also have tips on how to improve battery life and can be found in my signature.
Cheers.
What i do is when my battery is down, charge the phone & not using it until the charge is complete

This trick is very common for Li-Battery devices. (There is e.g. a very similar for HTC Desire).
You normally have to activate it only once. By doing this the battery unlocks some "extra power".
But be careful this MAY harm you battery. (On HTC Desire some people reported dead batteries or even worse battery life ...)

You do know that Li-ion batteries are fragile, and that overcharging them damages them, right?
Long charge is dangerous for li-ion batteri

That wasn't my invention anyway. It was initially recommended by HTC.
Just to clarify something. I didn't post this in order to convince anyone for anything. The idea of community is to share knowledge and exchange experience.
That's was my initial thought and I never said it either works or not. To be honest though I have the sense that after doing it the first time, the battery stayed on 100% for much longer time than before. I haven't measure this systematically though so I can't tell it for sure as many factors could have contributed to this.
Also, the idea was to do this once and then only once in a while and not too often. So it wouldn't harm your battery.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you've gone from about 70% charge to 20% with 2 hours screen on time? Give us your stats again from a full charge.

Good morning guys...
I am really impressed with the new pattern that OnePlus has introduced with the OP3, the DashCharger and its improvements over other patterns, as speed and better heat dissipation.
I do not have my OP3 yet, I live in Brazil and things are a little bit harsh here.. but I bought (imported) one and I am just waiting it to arrive.
I saw in many reviews that DashCharge takes about 1 hour to fill the battery and what I want is: you that already have the OP3 on hands, could give us a feedback about other type of charging
and the time it takes? Can you use a normal 5V1A adapter and another one that implements QC2.0 and post here?
I want that because I have 2 units of QC2.0 charger and with the new OP3 I do not intent to get rid of them if the time to full charge isn't too different and buying the special cable/charger for me (and maybe other)
could not be easy/cheap and maybe it does not compensate!
If no one could do that test, I will perform it myself when I get my OP3... till there, if you could help me, I will appreciate!
Thanks for now and sorry about english!
I have the original charger, but i had a Nexus 6P too, and the 6P used QC 3.0. The OnePlus 3 is charging a bit faster than the 3.0. OnePlus charges 3% in ~3minutes, and the 6P was like that. I think you should charge your phone with the original charger, but in fact you could use QC2 charger i think. Hope i helped (Sorry for bad English)
Thanks for reply,
I would like to know how many time does de OnePlus take to charge from 0 to 100% with Original DashCharger, a QC2.0 and a normal charger... if you could tell in minutes (average)
I have the HTC 10 and the OnePlus 3. The OnePlus 3 is drastically faster than the HTC 10 with Q QC 3.0. I remember walking away frm my OP3 for like 10 minutes, it had charged about 20%. In abut 30 minutes it's at 63% and my HTC 10 is at 44%. My OP3 fullyharges in about 72-74 minutes, my HTC 10 is aound 1 hour, 40 minutes.
74 min?
i get a rate of 2% per minute charge.
50min for full battery

QC3.0/3.0 is also much more heavily affected by heat (and as such, using the device), whereas Dash charging is not since heat is dissipated at the charger itself instead of at the phone.
a bit harder to find dash charging accessories though..... at least right now

It doesn't matter, download an app called Ampere and check the intensity, it charges with ~4A for the first ~30 minutes and then lowers down to ~2A.
Conclusion: It charges super fast only first 30 minutes and then it slows down.

I'm very familiar with it. My point is dash/quick charging is purposed for when your phone is near 0 and you're in a hurry, it will get you as much as it can as quick as it can but with lithium ion batteries it's causes too much damage to go all the way to 100%

Well that, and naturally all batteries tend to slow as they charge, not to prevent damage but just the way they work. The reason it's "0-60 in 30 minutes" and not "0-100 in 50 minutes" is that after 60, all modern phone batteries tend to cap off.

OnePlus did not release the sources of DashCharging for developers' comunity... So no one can implement it, at least till now!

is there any way to charge ze551ml fast till 100%??? it only charge fast till 70% then very slow charging. Any kernel changes or any tweak that can make it possible, please tell me.
That way you get Galaxy Bomb 7.
If it fast charged up to 100% it would significantly shorten your battery's life.
You can't. This is intentionally made to prevent your battery from overcharged.
It's not the kernel problem, it's the hardware

You CAN, but you need to build your kernel yourself as you need to modify the battery driver.
As this is not recommended (like AT ALL), you won't be seeing someone offering such a kernel

There's no way for ZE551ML in terms of software, well incase there is, you'll just end up torturing your phone's battery as if it only supports 60℅ for 40mins, notice that your phone gets hotter and getting warmer over time after it hits the threshold, it is required to prevent your phone's battery from taking too much heat for a long period of time.
Perhaps just buy a new phone like Galaxy S7, LG G5, etc. that supports Quick Charge 3.0 atleast they have upgraded its components in terms of hardware to support faster charging.

Batteries need a balanced charge for longevity.
You could fast charge from zero to 100% but expect to kill a battery once a month.
Smart phones hey lmao
That's no necessary, just decrease a little time.
Buy the ZenPower.
Maybe adding a temperature check while charging could make it possible without explosions
I'd rather not cook my phone. Thank you very much. Lol

I was talking to someone and he said that in 4 months of usage, battery life has gone pretty bad. I saw that QC might affect battery on long term, but 4 months is a bit too much.
so I'm asking you guyz that purchased the phone, can you tell me if your battery life is mainly the same after some months?
ps. I'm willing to buy a OP 3T, and I am concerned about battery life, even on medium term usage.
ps. sorry for my bad english.
Even as awesome as it was on the first day. No need to worry.

Idk if dc would damage the battery but keeping the battery within 30-80% is recommended and a lot healthier for the battery as opposed to charging from below 30% and above 80%.
---------- Post added at 08:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:22 PM ----------
Also with op3t you might not see as much development as op3. So If you want custom ROMs or kernels stick with op3 cuz op3t might not get as much attention as op3.(just my guess though).

getting custom roms is not so important to me, right now, and I think that many op3 roms and kernels will be ported to op3t due to the fact that there are not so many changes.
but I wil have that in mind. thanks
No battery degradation here, it's still as good as on day one. And it's a bit over 5 months old now. I'm charging it every 1-2 days (depending on usage) and using DASH charger only.
There is no reason why DASH would affect battery health any more than normal charging. It's not charging speed that's killing the battery, it's the heat.
You often hear that fast charging is bad for your battery, but thats because most fast charging technologies heat up the battery a lot more than normal charging. Well, DASH is different as it keeps the battery cool and concentrates the heat into the charger.

There are limited sources which would provide this information. I read it in a blog that OnePlus with Dash Charge uses more Amperes than Volts. Power is Voltage (V) x Current (A). Fast chargers produce more Volts which heats up the battery as already mentioned by fellow xda member. When I read this myself, I was more than impressed with this. Only thing is it's a proprietary technology, meaning no other charger would charge your OnePlus phone quickly. For me, this is a win-win situation as battery longevity means more to me and quick charging too. Both are excelled by OnePlus.
P.S: I have always been more inclined to Samsung phones than others. And this was not a biased answer.?
Hey guys,
I have recently purchased xiaomi mi 6 and this is my first quick charge phone so something got me worried. My battery charging speed seems to be too fast for me. Although I don't think temperatures are worrying however I'm conserned regarding long term effects.
I have xiaomi mi 6 6gb ram 128gb storage ceramic edition model.
These are pictures taken from battery app from playstore and image of my charger.
If anyone have some advise about this it would be great.
My greatest consern is that charging speed doesn't seem to diminish as charge is getting to 90% after it hits 90% it slows down dramatically. But from what I know it should change charging speed between 60 and 70 percent to little slower then from 0 to 60.
Is this damaging battery?
Screenshots below.
Thank you.
Totally fine. Its QC 3.0. Imagine this: QC4+ charges ~50-60% in under 15 minutes.
Oh such a releaf. Thank for replying.
Anyone got idea if this has any at all negative effect to battery?
No, higher battery voltage - slower charge, you would damage your battery in few weeks without this slow down.
Also avoid heavy load of phone when charging

Would they put a fast charger in the box if the phone couldn't handle it? Nah probably not. Maybe Apple would......
Should you worry if you use the stock charger or a certified QC 3.0 charger? Definitely not its fine.
Are you still worried?: use a non QC 3.0 charger like 1.5 amp.
I use my old Sony one and it works equally well.
I find a slower charger gives slightly longer SOT.
The fast charger is just useful if I need power quickly.
Thanks guys
