Why is snapchat video quality so bad? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Videos look so pixelated that you can barely see what is happening in them. I've had a quick search and people are saying it's just a problem with snapchat on android, but it always looked great on my S6.
Any idea why this is?

Possibly because the camera is usually 4:3 but snapchat records in 16:9. Also if the lighting conditions are bad that could be why.

I assume you have one plus 3 model number A3000 thats why its pixelated. Change the model number to A3003 if you've root access

How do I get widescreen photos on my play?

I've tried every camera app out there, and none of them allow me to take widescreen shots unless I'm taking a video.
How can I edit the camera to take a widescreen photo?
It's been a long time and no one awnsered this threat, isn't there a way for it or nobody's interested?
I have found, here in XDA, a threat where some guy make his phone (I guess it was Xperia Arc or S) to take 6 MP 16:9 widescreen pictures. He modded the camera app
It would be very good if we could get 16:9 pictures with XPERIA PLAY.
---------- Post added at 01:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 AM ----------
The phone's camera that was modded it's XPERIA S
Here is the discussion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1637574
If you have ICS, you can crop your pictures to 16:9.

There is also a paid app called appzilla which has fifty apps and has a full screen camera

And there isn't any mod for the original camera 'app'?

[Q] HD Playback issue.

Is it just me or there's something wrong about playing HD videos on Nexus 7 2? It looks like "pixelated".
Well that certainly isn't HD video. This may be an issue with your internet than the actual device itself.

Thanks for the reply. I'm quite sure that's HD. I downloaded that video 1080p using IDM.

That isn't 1080p. I can assure you that. That has to be 320p.
I'll put a movie onto my Nexus that is 1080p and I'll see if it's like that tonight.
Is this the one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moSFlvxnbgk
It's 720p, and at certain points a bit pixellated with contours.

I do not see any pixels. It may be the download manager you are using or your stream. I've attached a YouTube image from my browser, along with my Nexus 7 screenshot for you.
I use Flash Video Downloader, which downloads the entire file directly, rather than copying a stream. I'm also watching it on a full-size PC monitor, so the larger and brighter pixels let me see where the video quality isn't that great. At certain points it's clear (pun intended) with the video. In fact, I just noticed it's only 1280x534. Sometimes I wonder if "HD" videos people upload were upscaled from DVD.
Take for example this still at 0:42, saved as PNG with zero compression. JPG at 100% has similar quality.
Anyway, if this is the video the person's talking about, even if he had great throughput and HD on, it's not 1080p.

Of the two screenshots you posted, the left has pixellation, and the second is contoured.

The left I can see pixels after a quick glimpse. My eyes are pretty bad but I do not see how the image on the right is contoured.
If it is what you say it is, then it's just an upscaled DVD rip and not actually blueray.

(Fixed) hi-resolution contacts images

Update hangouts app rolling out today.. It solves the blurry contact images on call and SMS on the watch... It has been confirmed.
I didn't get the update yet, but still uninstalling and installing the hangouts app fixes the issue
Here is the link from apkmirror for the latest update

PS... You don't have to use hangouts as default SMS app for this

no fix for blurry gmail contacts...and whatapps...i am sad panda
Same here, no fix for gmail, textra, or any of my other apps that get notifications. Maybe 2.0 will fix it
also linkedin.
I use hangouts and have updated. It's strange, the photo got less blurry, but seems just as much if not more pixelated. Could be a gmail contacts thing but not sure.

Actually I just received a text via Hangouts and the photo looked awesome! Not sure if my watch rebooted or something else "took effect" but now it looks great!

From what I can tell, it's either only Hangout messages or people with Google+ contact images that get the high resolution treatment. If you receive an SMS from someone who doesn't have a Google+ contact image (ie. you had to upload your own image, or use something like Haxsync to get an image), it's just as bad a blurry pixelated mess as it used to be.
This isn't an Android Wear issue. It depends entirely on the quality of the image used for the notification on the phone.
Just wanted to amend my reply after using it for a few days. I tested with my wife's phone and here's what I came up with:
Photos I Have:
Photo A = Google Contacts (not Google+) (I set this photo for her contact in my Google Contacts)
Photo B = Same photo but larger and not cropped, nice resolution, only on my phone
Photo C = Photo she set for Google contacts (not Google+)
And here's the behaviour on my Moto 360
When I receive a call from her - Nice, crisp high res Photo B automatically cropped down to the watch somehow
When I receive a SMS from her - Photo A, not as blurry as before update, but still very pixelated
When one of her calendar event notifications pops up - Photo B, nice crisp, auto cropped (same as phone call)
Note- I never see Photo C at all
---------- Post added at 09:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:25 AM ----------
I'll also add that folks with nice Google+ photos do show up nicely for Hangouts (non SMS) messages.

you're partially correct but everyone who has tested this issue has found the contact photo resolution is not the problem. especially when the photo appears crisp on a much larger screen.

More precisely, it's not Android Wear, but how apps communicate with Android Wear. It seems that its up to app developers to feed high resolution images to the watch, as evidenced by the fact that an update to the Hangouts app can impact the display of contact images, regardless of Android Wear version.
Problem still persists

Audio issues. Video vs Standalone recording

Hi.
In the discussions about the audio issues during video recording I heard some people mention that standard audio recording, outside any video app, using a dedicated audio recording app results in waaaay better audio. Could anyone confirm that it's only an issue during video recording? Samples of this would be appreciated. It will help me decide which size to get.

Is it possible to enable 60 fps camera record on lumia phones ?

Hello, so I saw lots of tweaks with registry edit, but couldn't find anything about 60 fps video recording. Is it possible for example lumia 930 ?

if so.. my 950XL already shoots 60fps but not more even at very low resolutions.. so if you wouldn't mind sending me a link that mentions the tweak..
but i think you're mocking so if you really were i didn't fall for it.
I used to have 60fps in earlier builds of windows 10 , I'm not sure when it went
I'm sure its possible we just have to know where to enable it
