Hi. So im having a hard time rooting my g3. Im currently running lolipop 5.0.1 and have been trying to root via qbking77 method with zero luck.
The gui version gives me a "could not open the port" error. I tried the script version, but it was missing the root bat file for some reason and it also failed. I even tried to do it manually and it would not even recognize my device. Please help if you know a work around or a better method.

Okay, so I have the Sprint LG G2 and I currently have the 4.4.2 update with LS980ZVE and everything I have tried to root my phone has failed. Towel-root says my phone isn't supported, stump-root says my phone is already rooted but its not which is confirmed by root-checker. I have tried iOroot and that failed. Another program failed because of my ADB bull**** and I don't even know how to get it to work on my computer. Could really use some help whether it be downgrading( tried to do by myself with LG Flash tool which also failed ) so anything that could point me in the right direction or tutorials would be great.

Ok so after you use stump root did you restart phone and install SU from the store? This is something that has to be done for you to gain root access.
edit: Use these steps here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56584296&postcount=153, this is what I did and it worked flawlessly.
☝ What he said. Worked for me.
Hello everybody!
I have a problem concerning the completion of the root process on my device LG G3 D855P - Rom version V10o.
After upgrading to the V10o version, the root was removed and since then I try to trouble reactive it.
I tried to make the root through various APK's such as: Framarrot, Towerlroot ... I also tried using ".exe" via PC, such as: Ioroot, PurpleDrake, UnlockRoot, among others.
I was not happy in any process so far. I wish someone could help me regarding the realization of root on my device.
Thanks in advance !!
Thanks to some idiot, team codefire left g3 behind for good.
There will be no more root for g3 unless someone else does it.
Only way to get root back is going back to stock rom reported working with root and dont upgrade if you wanna keep root
Sent from my LG-D852 using XDA Free mobile app
PurpleDrake is working with v10o.
If you have properly installed LG drivers and USB debugging is enabled, it's good to go.
Got it!
Guys, it worked.
I made this ... I changed the MTP option for PTP then open a window PurpleDrake, it failed to carry out the root, she kept open and open another window of PurpleDrake, yes this worked.
Installed SuperSU and ta all right.
Thanks guys.
hello all,
i have a T-Mobile LG G3 d851 running sw version V10R. I have tried using purpledrake, towelroot, and stump root. When I ran purpledrake, it started out working just fine but when it came to permaroot, there was a quick error (I only noticed the error because it was in red lettering) as soon as the error came the window closed down, and my device was still not rooted. then i ran towelroot, the message read "This phone isn't currently supported". after that failed attempt i ran stumproot. the message i recieved from stumproot was "device is patched, sorry!"
as far as i know, currently from reading countless forums and Q&A's, stumproot failed because my android version is too up to date and i need to downgrade. i have been trying to research how to downgrade the LG G3 and havnt come up with a walk through on how to do that. now i am turning to you guys for help. Does anyone know what i should do or have any suggestions or input?your help is greatly appreciated.
Maybe info in this thread might help.

Hi Guys,
I have a D855 on V20h on Lollipop 5.0. I'm finding it hard to find a root method for this phone. Looking at Purpledrake and IORoot its not supported. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have access to Windows and Mac if that helps.
Thanks in advance
Use the second method in the OP...
[GUIDE][ROOT] Newest Root Method for LG devices
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197
OK so I have tried the newest root method and it fails using both manual and script. I get the same error as all the previous root methods. "This program can't start because MSVCR100.dll is missing from your computer try re-installing the program to fix this problem". I have re-downloaded the zip and tried again, as said this is the same error as previous root methods. I'm running Windows 10 not sure if that would cause an issue.
Thanks
Hi,
I've been trying to find a way to root my LG G3 since yesterday, yet none of the methods I had found proved to work on my device.
I tried to follow this tutorial, but got a "FAIL" message: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
Same thing happened when I used an automatic script: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...t-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951/page1
I also tried to root using KingRoot, but it didn't support my device : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/root-twrp-marshmallow-d855-30b-t3286268
It seems like my device can't be rooted. Any ideas?
Model: D855
Software version : V30d
Android : 6.0 (stock)
Hi,
Downgrade to V30b then use Kingroot.
Ok,
So after downgrading to V30b, I tried to follow the KingRoot method. Unfortunately, the rooting process failed each time at about 70%. I used version 4.5.6, as used in the tutorial. I also tried to install a newer version from the official site, but that app didn't even offer to try to root my device.
Edit:
I was really frustrated, and decided hopelessly to follow your instructions over again. This time it worked. I flashed the kmz again, rooted using KingRoot, and kept going. Thank you so much!
