Root Guide for Noob - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

Installing a custom recovery using fastboot
See All About Recovery Images for more information about custom recoveries and their capabilities.
Make sure your computer has working fastboot and adb.
Download recovery -- visit twrp.me to obtain the latest version of Recovery for your device.
Connect the {{{device_name}}} to the computer via USB.
Make sure the fastboot binary is in your PATH or that you place the recovery image in the same directory as fastboot.
Open a terminal on your PC and reboot the device into fastboot mode by typing
adb reboot bootloader
or by using the hardware key combination for your device while it is powered off.
Once the device is in fastboot mode, verify your PC sees the device by typing
fastboot devices
If you don't see your device serial number, and instead see "<waiting for device>", fastboot is not configured properly on your machine. See fastboot documentation for more info.
If you see "no permissions fastboot", make sure your UDEV rules are setup correctly.
Flash recovery onto your device by entering the following command:
fastboot flash recovery your_recovery_image.img
where the latter part is the filename of the recovery image.
Once the flash completes successfully, reboot the device into recovery to verify the installation.

No more recovery

Hello! First of all sorry for my explanations but i'm not English. I'm S-off and tried to flash a new recovery through Android Flasher but since I can't acces the recovery anymore ! Please help me I would be grateful
Try it via fastboot.
1.Download the desired recovery .img file from the site.
2. Download android SDK from official site, and run SDK Manager. When it is running, then install the platform-tools (revision 3 ATM), too.
3. Copy the file (.img) you downloaded into the android SDK folder, where fastboot.exe is located.
4. Reboot your phone into fastboot (holding down BACK+POWER keys when the phone is switched off) - it should show FASTBOOT USB.
4a. Make sure you have the USB drivers installed (for me HTC sync is not needed, i used the UNREVOKED USB drivers instead)
5. Fastboot flash. navigate to your android SDK directory in Command Promt (CMD.EXE) then run these commands:
a, fastboot flash recovery clockworkmod2518.img (or whatever is the name of the file)
b, fastboot reboot-bootloader
c, fastboot erase cache
6. You have now the recovery installed.
You don't have to have access to the recovery to flash anything that uses fastboot. For fastboot do what davebugyi said, if you want to use the Android Flasher, just boot into the rom or even better, boot into the bootloader. It works a charm. Fastboot has never worked for me for some weird reason, never have gotten it to work but the Android Flasher works.

Did you unlock bootloader?
1. Connect the device to the computer through USB.
2. From a terminal on a computer, type the following to boot the device into fastboot mode (or restart pressing power+vol up):
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
3. Once the device is in fastboot mode, verify your PC sees the device by typing:
Code:
fastboot devices
4. From the same terminal, type the following command to unlock the bootloader:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
If the device doesn't automatically reboot, reboot it from the menu. It should now be unlocked.
5. Then you can flash the recovery what you want. In fastboot mode, type in terminal:
Code:
fastboot devices
6. And flash the recovery. Type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery your_recovery_image.img
Good luck

Hi, is it wrong to wipe the system partition before flashing a custom rom? Coming from stock ColorOS, I've wiped all dalvik cache, cache, system, and data, then flash a custom rom but it ended up getting endless bootanimation unable to boot into the custom rom.
I did unlock the bootloader with the adb code, flashing a temporary recovery was a success but endless bootanimation happened after flashing a custom rom. The custom rom was successfully installed according to TWRP's log.
Pls advice, thanks in advanced
P.s: I was referring to my friend's device X9076
Hi, i tried in the past some roms than not works, phone stuck in boot animation. The roms wich works for me and my x9076 with r63419 are:
Omnirom (6 or 5) THE BEST
Project Spectrum
Cyanogen 13 (modified version for new panel: http://community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=44907&extra=)
Miui
If you install CM13, you need to flash unified partition script for CM13 (you can find it in the same post from the forum Oppo Community)
For the other roms i dont need to flash anything else than rom and gapps.
Now i give a chance to CM13, but i think that i will get back to Omni if developers dont fix the mobile radio issue.
Cheers
Can anyone guide me please, 1st time i bought MTK phone Oppo F7, its update automatically but suddenly dead like stuck on logo and restarting again and again, i didnt ever flash MTK phone, neither i have any android tool like MRT dongle or any other flash USB or Box... Kindly guide me step by step how to flash with which tool only USB cable and PC... Thanks in advance

Issue unlocking bootloader

I'm trying to unlock boot loader on my device but, when I reboot into boot loader I don't get an option for "fast boot". The options I do get are to reboot, reboot in download mode, reboot in boot loader, reboot in recovery, and shut down. Any ideas or maybe any precursors I've missed?
fastboot (and adb) needs to be installed and running from your PC, you reboot in to the phones bootloader then from a command prompt or terminal on your pc you issue fastboot commands to your phone which is connected by USB.
No luck

C:\Users\Delprete>adb reboot downloader
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
error: device '(null)' not found
is all I got. I downloaded and installed fastboot to the pc. The directions that I'm following from HTCDEV.com say to reboot into download mode and then load fastboot from the phone.
Use the adb and fastboot from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Make sure you have usb debugging and oem unlocking enabled in developer options of your phone.
Once in download mode send the fastboot commands from your pc

Did you hold the volume down button + power button to get to recovery mode manually right after flashing?
Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A3003 mit Tapatalk
If you have successfully unlocked the bootloader, you'll get a bootloader unlocked warning every time you boot. On the warning screen, click either of the volume buttons and you'll be redirected to a bootup menu. From there, you can select "boot to recovery" using the volume rocker and power button.
Alternatively, enable "advanced reboot" in developer options and reboot to recovery from the main OS power menu.
If these don't work, reflash TWRP using fastboot. Make sure that you're using at least version 3.0.3-1, best to use 3.0.4-1.
Tried manually reboot into recovery but it just reboots,
I can sucessfully unlock as i have the warning on boot, but there if i go to the menu and press for recovery it just reboots, tried several tipes of recovery TWRP imgs
Any help greatly wanted
Download this version of TWRP (jcadduono's 4.0.3-1). Rename the file to something like twrp.img.
1) Make sure adb/fastboot is working on your computer (if you've already unlocked the bootloader, then I am assuming it is).
2) Put your phone into fastboot mode and connect it to your computer. Open a command prompt where you can access fastboot.
3) Put the twrp.img file to the same folder where you opened your command prompt.
3) Enter
Code:
fastboot devices
in fastboot and make sure your phone shows up with its serial number.
4) Enter
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
to erase your current recovery
5) Enter
Code:
fastboot flash recovery [B]twrp.img[/B]
, where twrp.img is whatever you named your twrp file.
6) Enter
Code:
fastboot reboot
to reboot into your main system. You can either reboot then use advanced startup to enter recovery, or press a volume button at the bootloader warning page to boot directly to recovery.

Sometimes it helps to use fastboot to boot the image directly after you flash it. This ensures you get into recovery since it loads it off your computer.
It should then work normally afterwards

[RECOVER][TWRP][STOCK] Asus live (Z00yd)

I ported TWRP(3.02-1) for Asus live, so i decided to post it because i never saw a custom recovery for this model.
To install the custom recovery you need adb and fastboot installed on your PC, and "USB debbuging" enable in your phone.
Now go into bootloader/fastboot mode, you can get there using adb terminal with the command "adb reboot fastboot" or turn off the phone, then press and hold UP VOLUME, after pressing volume up press POWER button, hold until you see a small menu then select fastboot mode.
Now in your pc,
copy the TWRP.img to your adb folder.
Open the adb terminal and type
Code:
"fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img"
It will display a message, if it is "OKAY" you are good to go.
IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS
you can flash the stock recovery using the exactly same process.
Move the Recovery.img to your adb folder and type
Code:
"fastboot flash recovery Recovery.img"
TWRP recovery and stock recovery:
HTML:
https://mega.nz/#F!KEJG3ShK!l1R6t8Xbo5wACgIWC35-Dw
(if you bricked your phone, you can use the stock recovery and the command above to unbrick it)
if i committed any grammar mistakes, correct me in the comments, thanks
