Hello guys, as the title, I use the CM 12.1 every day, but the battery heats up easily. However I am very happy with this rom, you know a suitable kernel and an app to manage it better?
Keep in mind that I recently replaced the battery (swelled :crying: )
At the moment I've flashed "[KERNEL][CM12.1 (based)][Z1C][5.1.1]M5 Kernel"
Thanks a lot to everyone
look for Kernel Adiutor in the playstore

M5 is the only custom kernel I know of for cm for our phone. As far as Kernel Adiutor, there's a modded version with more features than the Play Store version here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/kernel-adiutor-mod-singularity-kernel-t3333549
You also might like Lspeed and Performance Control

There's lots of reading to do about it if you want to understand more, but there are also some things that are more like personal preferences, like color profile, (if your kernel supports it), etc. You can test out some basic options, like cpu governor, etc, and see how the different ones affect your phone. If you want some good auto-tweaks, try Lspeed, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tweak-l-speed-v1-0-02-02-2015-t3020138 or ABS tweaks, http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tweak-arkaynine-boost-script-v3-0-t3120404 They just apply their own recommended settings and profiles, without you knowing what they're doing exactly. Personally, I'm with you - I don't know much, but I like to test and try to figure it out.

Thanks a lot Levone, I've installed Lspeed, but at the same time I use Assistant Pro for Android to clean cache, empty and double files. In the start up manager tab, the Assistant disable automatically a process of LSpeed that starts up at boot and I can't "fix" it. D'you think they can be in conflict?

There are apps to have full control over what runs at boot. I've never used them, but probably would work. Anyway, AFAIK, Lspeed will run at boot, but only runs what you chose to tweak, so if you want to test for conflicts, just try disabling or changing tweaks, and see if you have better or worse issues. If there's no problems, just let it run at boot.

Latest update: 2016-10-27 To view a changelog, you can visit http://www.cmxlog.com/13/quark/ for a rough idea up to the build date.
Hi all. I was able to compile this stock build of CM 13.0 thanks to the efforts/hard works of Skrilax_CZ, baybutcher27, the folks who created Resurrection Rom Remix, and those over at CyanogenMod. It takes some minor features from Resurrection Rom apparently (i.e. notification light, some tiny performance/battery tweaks, and the ability to install Motorola apps). It is otherwise stock CM 13 and I use this daily. I and the other authors/devs assume no responsibility if you damage your device somehow.
Please don't feel pressured to update any more often than you wish .
Notes:
In order to make my calling work for Verizon, I had to go under Settings->Cellular networks->Preferred network type, and select LTE/CDMA (not LTE/GSM/UMTS). I assume GSM users should be fine with the defaults.
My recommendations to install:
Install TWRP 3.0.2 if you haven't already: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0-touch-recovery-t3180308
Perform a backup of your current system/ROM (not really needed if just flashing a newer version).
Perform a factory reset/wipe (if coming from another ROM). If not coming from another ROM, still safest to do a dalvik/art cache reset.
Install the .zip
Install the appropriate google apps (http://opengapps.org/ , ARM, 6.0). I would think nano or micro is best.
(Optional) Install a custom kernel. The best at the time of this writing are at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/kernel-bhb27-kernel-t3207526 (CM-NX-RR-M builds for Marshmallow)
The latest is here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=50122
Wipe dalvik/art cache if you install another kernel.
Reboot and enjoy
Kernel Adiutor is very good for performance/power saving adjustments:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor
If you are using bhb27 kernels, then you should use his version of Kernel Adiutor:

I'll be back to post updates fairly regularly (~every 1-2 weeks), but I also work full time in addition to being a Dad (those of you who are know how that is ) and won't really be able to response to PMs very well. The sources I used can be found under the post on XDA here at http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/rom-resurrection-remix-t3316232 (device, vendor, and kernel trees). Thanks and God bless.
I just flash this version and its absolutely amazing.
Good job devs!
Bugs I noticed:
-Settings for LED doesn't work.
-Android Auto says is not a supported device.
-Quick Charge 2.0 doesn't seems to work.
-Phone gets really hot when charging.
-...
I have been tempted to flash this all day, but I love how smooth my phone has been on resurrection remix and I enjoy the extra customizations it has. I'm eagerly awaiting the next resurrection remix build for all the latest git changes

That's a bummer with some of those bugs. Hopefully those will be taken care of soon and I'll be able to sync and rebuild. Did all of these happen to be with the stock kernel, or did you happen to flash another (like baybutchers)? I've seen a few specific to the tiles, but I dont have an Android Auto system to check against. Also, if they are working (or some) in resurrection then I could possibly try to patch this.

I don't know exactly, I installed it by downloading the zip and gapps to my PC and used the ADB sideload, before that I was using the last nightly of CM12.1. I did that and I didn't loose my info (either way I did a TWRP backup of everything, except cache previously), so I think it was the CM kernel. When I installed for the first time CM I flashed also the zip and gapps, if that way the stock kernel is changed with the CM kernel I think I'm using CM kernel.

Yeah that sounds like the stock cm kernel then if you didn't flash anything like that separately. I don't know if it would help, but you could always try the other kernel I posted about and see if Android Auto works (would have to restore your backup if you didn't want to keep it). It just depends how much you care and if it's worth staying with the ROM to you. There's obviously bound to be some bugs, but I enjoy using a lean version of the latest and greatest system. Thanks for the feedback .
Installed it 2h ago, everything is running fine so far.
This is smoother than the old cm and than rr too. I'm impressed!
I'm using Bhb Kernel.
My phone is turbo charging, led is working...
No bugs for me.

I've just been going under the built in privacy guard and setting advanced permissions to where apps I don't need to start at boot are denied, in addition to also denying a lot of them from being allowed to keep the device awake. I get very little battery drain in standby this way. If the cell signal is too weak though, it's really hard to prevent extra drain as it over compensates to get a good signal.

It's a little hard to say since there is a lot and I am just syncing to the main CyanogenMod 13 repository. However, this is a good link if you go by the date and something similar (such as the Nexus 6 which shares a lot of hardware).
http://www.cmxlog.com/13/shamu/
This may be a dumb question but does this have VoLTE enabled and working(Verizon user)? Since it is CyanogenMod based I assume not but just waned to ask.
calsurferpunk, can you fix wifi on XT1254 with stock Brasil 1225's 6.0.1 ROM? CM12.1 and CM13 detect Moto Maxx and Droid Turbo radio very good!

I had this problem on other ROMs as well until I restored the original manufacturer ROM, set GPS to device only, verified it worked, then flashed the new ROM. You might have to do the same here. I believe it's been a long ongoing bug with CyanogenMod (and probably others).
pretty thx for the cm13,did it have ambient display?
I am downloading this at work right now. It is slow and will take me a couple to download.
While it is dl'g, I have a question about wiping. Do I still need to do a factory reset if I am coming from a marshmallow cm13 RR rom?Baybutchers?
Also, I have not been able to get my GPS to work properly. In your post #17, you referred to original manufacturer rom. Where can I get this rom to set the gps? I do have computerfreek's room saved as a backup if I could use it? I don't have easy access to a computer to do a fastboot.
Thx.

Please read this post in detail to know all the details about viper4arise and the great team behind A.R.I.S.E
Sound Systems™ (Auditory Research in Sound Enhancement™ ).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/r-s-e-sound-systems-auditory-research-t3379709
I have installed SwanSong and the sound is amazing. SwanSong have an aroma interface during the installation in TWRP and it will be easy for you to install it with all the guides inside the installer. Here are the steps I have done to install it (Thanks to @tywinlannister).
1. Install the BusyBox app and also install BusyBox inside it.
2. Set SELinux to be permissive. (This is important, but you can do it during the installation of SwanSong).
3. Download Arise Sound Systems zip from the link https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=151719
(Click Aroma & look for ARISE+Deuteronomy+X.XX+Modular+AROMA+Installer.zip )
4. Reboot to TWRP and flash the downloaded file. Aroma will start and guide you through the installation process. (There will be many number of modules which will make you confused as to whether it is needed or not. Refer the below recommended setup to get the best experience).
4. Reboot to system.
5. Configure the mods.
6. Reboot again.
This is the recommended setup from the developer itself while flashing SwanSong in Aroma. (Thanks to guitardedhero).
I would recommend Core (mandatory, if not already installed), ViPER4Arise™ 2.5.0.5, Profiles, Arkamys™, ICEsound™, Skip Config and Preset, MusicFX (unless you know it's already installed, this script will leave an existing MusicFX installation intact and end, just in case), permissive (do not, if Enforcing Mode is preferred), Repair SD Card Permissions (allow up to 3-5 minutes of additional time for this script).
Don't flash deep buffer unless you absolutely need to. It's a last resort to get streaming apps to process and should never be flashed as part of your normal installation unless it's been found from flashing previous ARISE version that it's necessary on your device.
Once booted:
Android Settings > Apps > Menu > Show System > Arkamys > Enable Phone Permissions
Android Settings > Apps > Menu > Show System > ViPER4Arise > Enable Storage Permissions
Open ViPER4Arise™ and select Audiophile™ X profile from the Load Effect Profile option in Menu.
On displayed output tab:
Master Power > Off
Master Power > On
Menu > Device Status
Should show Enabled, Normal, and Processing: Yes (at least during audio playback for some scenarios)
If you want to select ViPER4Arise™ through a media player's Equalizer option (not necessary, recommended for users that prefer to get to ViPER4Arise™ through a media player rather than launch the app from Recents or App Drawer):
Android Settings > Apps > Menu > Show System > MusicFX > Disable
Reboot for good measure.
Hope it will help for you. If anything bad happens or you want to uninstall viper, just dirty flash your rom (only wipe cache and dalvik) and everything will be good.
Please note that the selinux mode shall be set to permissive for viper4arise to work. If the selinux mode will not stick to permissive, you may need to disable inbuilt root (if there) and flash latest supersu and then everything will be fine.
There will be a lot of modules during the aroma installation which you can skip (Toolkit, Dolby Plus, Dolby Atmos etc) if it is not mentioned in the recommended setup. Its your choice. Enjoy a crystal clear sound from the great developers.
:good:
NB: I hope I have covered everything that needs to know. Sorry for my bad english and errors if any. I was always a fan of viper4android and been using it for last 3 years and viper always made the music much better to my ears. My only intention is to help others who may be confused with all those modules which will come during the installation of this massive all-in-one package.
Hey! First of all, thank you very much for this great guide. I've followed your instructions, but it seems like I'm experiencing some kind of lag when changing songs. It's like the effects needs to catch up for 1 or 2 seconds after changing songs.. I have done everything mentioned in the guide, and I'm using Spotify, by the way. Any help is appreciated

I think that your problem with lag is caused by an ondemand-governor or a governor, which set the mhz of cores too low for battery-saving features or whatever.
Which rom are you on. Are you using any battery saving tweaks (for viper with super audio quality driver, i think, need 2 cores on with 600mhz the minimum for non-stuttering sound-processing).
Either setting the governor to interactive or manually adjusting the lower CPU speeds may solve your problem.
Perfect!
My long wait to have an audio mod on stock N ends here.. Thanks for the wonderful share.

Thanks for the screenshots. I have used viper in stock nougat and lineage oms, I haven't faced any kind of lags in these. Maybe it is specific to RR rom.
Or you can check with the viper installation; start fresh and install only core and viper4 arise(skip all other modules) and check if there is any lags. If there is still lag, you will have to switch the rom. If there is no lag, try installing the modules one by one until you find which module is causing the lag and avoid using it.

Sometimes, Viper stops processing after plugging in earbuds, but it will start processing after a reboot with the earbuds plugged in. Check if this is what happening to you. If still not processing, try to freeze icesound service in system apps. It can also mess up with some roms. There is a minor glitch somewhere, hopefully we will find it.
Thanks Nazim7 for this awesome guide!!
Viper screams on my phone and audio quality is improved drastically....u can feel the thump and bass!!!
Some people reported that processing was : no...I faced the same issue...What I did was plugged in earphones -- restarted phone --- make sure selinux set to permissive before restarting...

i'm on stock rom and elemental x kernel, unable to install busybox and after installing viper, in driver status everything says 'no'. Please help.
I have tried various kernels suitable for mi a2 lite, including the JusticeKernel and the quintus Kernel but the battery life still seems not to have so many benefits. Does anyone know to recommend other compatible ones, or have had experiences with others? Let's compare here
You don't need necessarily a new kernel to tweak your phone and especially the battery, you could try out tools like "LSpeed" or the Magisk module named "LKT".
LSpeed: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paget96.lspeed&hl=en
LKT: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/xz-lxt-1-0-insane-battery-life-12h-sot-t3700688
Like always, backup important data before trying.

Hi everyone
This is the best guide in order to get the best possible smoothest experience on the asus rog phone 2 . Let's get started with the basic.
-SOFTWARE: The most stable and smoothest software is always the first rom that the rog phone 2 had. Android 9. i have tested android 10 betas and stable, also custom ROMs but if you want consistent performance, less i/o lags, less heat, stable games fps and better apps compatibility i reccomend the latest version of android 9 WW. Link below:
https://mega.nz/#!spBlACjC!S1UcaxBmnL_e3GGeoBL1ebWJPbSyPQBZESFdxbakuGc
-GCAM: Well, there is also available a ported version of GCAM . You can shoot amazing photos and make very good videos at 60fps with amazing stabilization. The latest stable version for android 9 is linked below. i don't reccomend any configs. To make Gcam work, enable and disable monochrome.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog812/
-IMPROVE BATTERY LIFE AND PERFORMANCE: Use dark theme for all Google apps that support it since oled panels are battery friendly. Lower screen brightness and screen timeout; lower refresh rate and use inbuilt power saver mode when battery is low( this may limit cpu power and disable some data/gps connections on standby). Use Amoled wallpaper and reading mode when needed. OptiFlex is an inbuilt feature to improve app launch speed( it use ram cache like a similar oneplus feature ): i reccomend to leave this feature in auto mode. X MODE will set all cpu clusters to 1200/1300 mhz all time. I reccomend to use only for some gpu intensive games, not for daily use because it will drain the battery quicker. DON'T USE CUSTOM KERNELS since stability, random reboots or cpu frequencies locked can occur on A9.
-GOOGLE SANS AND WALLPAPERS: Get the pure google font , simple install this apk and under setting, display font select this amazing font. If you want pure stock android 9 wallpapers, download them from the link below:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262904013689
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4854501&d=1571922365
-DEBLOAT AND STOP SERVICES: Remove useless apps that can be removed like asphalt, asus data transfer and netflix. Disable and stop all apps you don't need like some Google apps to save RAM... If you can't disable some system apps, hide from the launcher to get cleaner interface. Keep apps updated to get best stability.
-CLEANER AUDIO, BETTER BASSES: Use the inbuilt DTS and set this profile. From the graph set this order by lowering the second and the third: 0,-10,-5,0,0,0. Virtual basses and highs below leave them to 0. This is the best profile to get best sound quality and basses. DON'T USE any other audio mods because they will distort the sound and break basses. When you are out, use the outdoor mode( this will set highs to maximum).
audio mono SET TO ON : this will improve fullness and basses at cost of less voice clarity and stereo separation but will sound better
-GLTOOLS FOR GAMERS: This application is an amazing graphic optimizer tool and it's able to improve games framerate, msaa filters, resolution, textures, rendering and emulate old games or newer/older GPU's to make games run on unsupported android versions or simple run better. It's a future proof game tool and it's compatible only with android 9 or earlier. Another big reason to stay on android 9. The combination of gltools and armory crate is just pure gold for gamers. Link below:
https://it.apkhere.com/app/com.n0n3m4.gltools
-CLEAN INSTALLATION OF STOCK ROM,ROOT AND KERNEL: First of all, remove all google accounts, password,PIN and fingerprints. Boot (recovery: format data and wipe Now reboot to bootloader Flash raw android 9 firmware. after make a wipe data/factory reset. Now you can configure your phone and when you are on the homescreen ( if you want root) reboot to bootloader, boot to tpwr( without installing, it's not needed) and install latest MAGISK. Reboot. To flash custom kernel, boot again to tpwr from bootloader, flash kernel and reboot. DON'T WIPE DALVIK CACHE WHEN INSTALLING ROOT or KERNEL because there are performance issues especcially on some apps.
-USEFUL TIPS FOR DAILY USAGE AND LIFE SPAN:
- Use immersive mode to avoid burn in on status/navigation bar and use asus gestures
- Set display timer to 15/30 seconds and auto brightness on to avoid burn in and save battery. change wallpaper regularly and apps position.
-for display color tuning, i reccomend to set to custom and only increase to +1 the saturation to get best movie and game experience( sometimes it reset after a reboot or flashing kernel/modules).
- disable boot up sounds and vibrations to save power. lower the power of 2 strong vibrators.
- smoothest browser you can use: VIA BROWSER or Google go.
- use some useful quick toggles like night light to help your eyes during the night, hz toggle so you can switch to 60hz immediately when battery is low, reading mode...
- don't charge your phone always to 100%. Mobile manager will help your battery lifespan. Guarante the access to it from the settings.
-use less possible magisk modules, only necessary.
well, now you have the cleanest possible experience that makes your phone runs better, smoother than ever!:good::good:

tip for audio:
if you play a lot of pubg, or games where you need to hear surroundings around you, install dolby atmos from this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81911451&postcount=4575
root and magisk is needed but it works fantastically.
also you can install riru xposed in magisk and gravity box module for xposed to tweak your software further.

Someone know how to activate the same gesture experience than A10? If it, I would install A9 again.
I've tryied, but nope. I don't want to refuse them... I've installed Lawnchair + Quickswitch and is an amazing experience in A10.

Ou, it would be amazing! But I did not see anything. I think I'm not returning to the buttons system navigation... Gestures are an almost perfect experience: A10 works pretty well for me (even though A9 is even some better, that's true!)
That audio mod u said is for magisk, so install that zip file via magisk? I tried it, it installed, rebooted device, but when i start again magisk, i don't see anything installed on Magisk Manager in Modules section... Am i doing something wrong?
