I have read threads about warraty but they only deal with TWRP, root and such.
I talked to the Live Chat and they said that one can flash a custom ROM if e.g. the motherboard is damaged due to overclock.
My first question then: If I choose to flash a stable rom that underclocks the CPU and nothing more, or at least nothing that can damage the motherboard, do i still keep my warranty?
Another question: If i delete all data and do a factory reboot, can oneplus see that i have flashed a custom rom Before the delete of the data?
What i want to say is, will it, at this Point, look like i have only rooted the phone, installed TWRP and nothing else?

So annoyed right now. For the second time, my phone has randomly gone in to a boot loop. Completely stock, never unlocked or rooted or anything. So bloody annoying because now I have to reflash stock with ODIN which will wipe my phone again.
I suppose to send it back under warranty I have to pay for shipping and wait a month for a replacement?

If you know how to use Odin, you can figure out how to root, flash a ROM, and use a custom kernel.
See if that helps out your phone with the boot loops. If it doesn't you could always just flash back to stock and send it back.
You're right actually, I suppose I could use this as an excuse to root it. I've held off from doing it though because I always thought if I got a Nexus device I wouldn't need to bother with flashing new roms, but it would be quite nice to upgrade from 4.0.2 I guess.
At least then if it decides to do it again I'll have a nandroid. Still annoyed that this has happened for the second time though

Bootloops are usually software related, so rooting and flashing an entire new ROM will probably help you.
Just use the toolkit if you're not comfortable rooting
Oh, and since you were having boot loop issues
I would
Make nandroid
wipe data
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
Format System
Format Cache
Install Rom
Install Gapps (if required by your ROM)
Reboot and Enjoy
Oh, and then pick a kernel of your choice
I'm sorry you getting random bootloops, and I understand you're expecting them to go away merely by reflashing the same rom, but why are you using ODIN (a leaked, unsupported SAMSUNG flashing program), instead of FASTBOOT, officially supported by Google/AOSP?

I'm assuming it's because he comes from an SGS/SGS2 and isn't ready yet to step out of his comfort zone. But I agree that learning how to use fastboot is the way to go. And that the process of repackaging the images for odin may actually be the source of the problem (although I know little about such things that I may be wrong).
The last time it happened I just searched for a thread to reflash stock and the first thing I came across was ODIN, what difference does it make? And what do you mean it's leaked? I got it from the Samsung website last time. It's not because it was out of my comfort zone hehe, I'm quite experienced using adb etc, even did a bit of theming before on my Hero.
As an update to my situation - I unlocked/rooted/installed AOKP this morning. Has some nice additions and seems a bit snappier, looking forward to seeing if I have better battery life with it. Oh and I used fastboot not the one-click program. It's only a couple of lines in the terminal after all.
Hello All,
I've seen multiple threads but none that exactly answered that question I had, two part question actually.
1. So I have a replacement battery waiting for my at a Verizon store. What are the chances they will want to troubleshoot the phoen before making the swap, possibly seeing it's unlocked and rooted, then giving me some textbook well the problem might have been you unlocking your phone and voiding the warranty. Do you think they would check?
2. If it's probable, I would flash back to stock. Now I've done the unlocking and rooting manually as per suggested and had tons of fun flashing new ROMs, bricking, and restoring, but I have yet to do a full flash back to stock/relock. Will this wipe all of my current Nandroid backups or remove CWM? Or is flashing back to stock and relocking, just like any other factory reset/data wipe I do in between ROMS? I'm just curious of the workload I'd have to put in all to flash back to stock for 5 min to swap the battery, then literally flash my next favorite ROM in the parking lot.
I apologize for the newbness, still learning.
Thanks all.
For me what I do is that I restore to stock and wipe so they have no evidence or what you could try and do is go to stock download an app called bootunlocker and lock the phone. You can unlock the bootloader again without wiping. Then to hide the root apps just install a third party launcher with a hidden apps feature.
Galaxy Nexus-codenameandroid rom
Chances are 50/50. They might check hardware and software to see if it is the problem with the battery or just a phone.
Going back to stock using this guide.
Personally, I would do a nandroid first, transfer it to computer, so you won't lose nothing at all when you get it back.
Hello everyone,
First of all my problem. Since about 2 weeks I started getting random crashes. The phone is unresponsive and the screen goes from really bright to a greenish/grey color (hard to explain). I googled but I didn't find an answer. If anyone here knows the problem that'd be great but I doubt it since there are so many this that could cause this. So now my question is, how can I be certain it's not an software issue? Further info: My phone is rooted, and I didn't change the ROM. However, I don't actually have root permissions and when I open SuperSU it asks me to update the binary which always fails. I tried to Root it again with the Galaxy Toolkit and it says it's already rooted. Also, Under the google logo is a unlocked lock sign.
Thanks
I would recommend you to try some custom stable ROM, based on 4.1.2. CM, AOKP are among top ones.
better make a backup using recovery, and flash a new ROM. It will give you a fresh start with SU too.
If you dont like using a custom ROM, restore an earlier backup if you already have..

My only expercience with custom roms got me into a boot loop, so I don't prefere that. I actually want a "out-of-the-box" phone without any modifications. Therefore I tried a factory reset but that keeps the root and unlock.

ok, if you want to get the total old look, relock the bootloader, and install official GNex image that comes straight from Google. Hope this sorts the issue out.
Yes, Custom ROMs are a bit time taking to setup in the start, but thats the whole point - a lot of options. I flashed alot of ROMs and luckily, I have had no boot issue still. I think following the proper instructions(which are simply wiping and formatting data, cache, and dalvik) are easily gonna keep the boot loops away.
You can rule out a sw issue by starting fresh.

I'm so disconcerted right now. I have the Verizon LG G3, everything stock but rooted, and just recently was fiddling with the Bump bootloader bypass. Everything was going well, and I remember this thread from a while back because I'm heavy on customizing my phone. Long story short, I download the "Clean Lockscreen" mod, flashed it, and now I get a "unfortunately the process com.android.systemui has stopped" when I boot up my phone. Skips the lockscreen, the home pages load up normally, but the only thing I can interact with is the Power Menu and the "Ok" to dismiss the "unfortunately..." message.
(mod was directly from http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/themes-apps/theme-g3-clean-look-kk-4-4-2-t2834442)
Short of factory resetting, is there any quick dirty fix that will let me stop having a panic attack? I'm so lazy/dumb for not having a backup, but I was so eager to start flashing things I couldn't be bothered to set one up. I gambled and lost. Hard.
Also, is there anyway to extract my photos before, worst case scenario, I do have to factory reset? I have so many pictures since I bought this phone that losing them all because of this little mistake is what's driving me crazy, on top of losing every little tweak I did here and there for the past few months.
Lastly, if I do factory reset, does that also erase everything on my SD card? The Quick Circle case is on there pretty snug.
**My theory is that someone with a Verizon LG G3 V10B (didn't update because I was afraid to lose root) has the original file that whatever the "Clean Lockscreen mod" file replaced, and I can just flash that and be sane again** please please please
TL;DR --> Verizon user, got Bump, got excited, started flashing things with no backup (dumb dumb dumb), going crazy, now hoping that I can replace that one thing I flashed with the stock original and be fine (whatever the Clean Lockscreen mod changed)
BE VERY CAREFUL READING THIS POST, IF YOU FOLLOW MY SUGGESTIONS AND LOSE YOUR PICTURES FOR ANY REASON I AM NOT RESPONSABLE.
~ You shoulda done a backup.
Just booting into recovery is 90% of the work needed to do a backup, The other 10% of the work is just clicking "backup" and waiting 15 seconds. (You were just lazy/impatient, Not dumb.)
~ Did you flash a mod that was specifically for your exact model?
~ Can you still get into your custom recovery?
~ Before you try anything in my list I would first see if you can locate the stock lockscreen files on the internet for your model and flash them back onto your phone.
~ The FC issues you're having is usually related to not having the proper permissions.
If you can still go into recovery, Boot into recovery and wipe the Cache, Dalvik cache, & go to advanced and click fix permissions.
~ It looks like to me that your launcher may be pooched.
(In my experience the lockscreen/keyguard seems to be tied to the actual launcher/UI itself, Which is why I believe your UI is broken)
Because you can't install a new launcher in the operating system I would try and find a flashable .zip version of another launcher, like nova launcher or something and flash that in recovery.
~ I'm 99% sure a Factory reset won't help your situation.
I'm almost positive you're gonna have to re-flash your firmware to return your phone to working condition.
~ Try a dirty flash, Using same type of rom. (YOU "COULD" LOSE YOUR PICTURES DOING THIS, BUT PROBLY WON'T, Use as one of your last resorts)
Try and find a flashable .zip rom that is flashable in recovery, One that is the same type as your current rom and try a dirty flash "without" wiping anything.
Only flash using the recovery without wiping "OR YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR PICS", Also if you flash using your PC it WILL DELETE EVERYTHING.
(If your current rom is stock or stock based rom, Find a stock/stock based .zip based rom and dirty flash in custom recovery)
(If your current rom is AOSP based rom, Find a AOSP based .zip based rom and dirty flash in custom recovery)
After you dirty flash, Backup your pictures & anything else you may need then do a clean flash.
~ There are apps that can recover "deleted/inaccessible" data. (THIS IS ABSOLUTLY LAST RESORT, DON'T TRY THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE ABSOLUTLY NO OTHER OPTION.)
When you delete something off a storage device, It doesn't delete the actual data, It deletes the operating systems directories where the said info is stored, Resulting in what looks like to the operating system as "empty space" Which it actually isn't.
If you "have to" wipe your phone before being able to recover your pictures, Avoid installing ANYTHING you can (If/when possible) until you recover your pictures if you have to wipe your phone, Because anything that goes on your phone while your stuff is deleted CAN be overwritten. (You're gonna have to google a bit to find what apps are capable of this on android.)
I've been trying to figure out methods of basically circumventing the locked bootloader on this stupid device and the only solution that I could possibly think would work is completely wiping all data off the phone and installing a custom BL and rom all at once on a blank phone. I'm not entirely certain whether or not this is possible, though, and if it is, where I would go about finding the images I'd need to reflash the phone. Warranty is nothing to me, as I recognise that my behaviour will result in consequences I have to live with.
So, is it possible to wipe the whole thing and start over, or is the KNOX writelock still screwing everything up? Even without removing the bootloader, is it possible to wipe only /system and then reflash without write protect rearing its head?
