Mi Band for Windows Phone - Device Reviews and Information

I was always having an impression that the mi band wont work for windows phone so i didn't buy it for a long time though i was damn interested in the product. Also buying the Microsoft Band is out of question because it is not a very established product in fact even Microsoft is not so interested in marketing the band lol
Anyway after waiting for so many years i came across an App called Bind Mi Band which does most of the official Mi Fit app functions and supports Windows Phone.. It was like OMG to me and i straight away decided to make my first Mi band purchase. There are lot of Mi band options ranging from Heart rate sensor 1s and a multi coloured led notification one as well as the newly released Mi band 2 which comes with the display. My requirement is just to get something cheap and accurate so i decided to stick with the lowest end one.
Here's the one i purchased (ordered online from gearbest)
Xiaomi Mi Band White LED - 2015 Original Updated Version - BLACK - TPSIV BAND

Actually i'm surprised to see such great build quality from Xiaomi. The band feels rigid and durable with no damages or flexes. The new TPSIV strap is said to be hypoallergenic, anti uv and anti microbal.
Btw Delivery took around 22 days
My Mi band white led version came with 0% battery but its completely normal i guess because the band keeps tracking motion and also it took more than 3 weeks to arrive here. Initial charging took around 3 hours / waited until all three LEDs are lit up.
Please note: It is recommended to pair the band using an Android Phone to get the latest firmware update. After updating to current firmware version 5.16.4.22 you can proceed with pairing to Windows Phone.
It is easy to pair the Mi band via Bind Mi Band app in Windows Phone. First make sure you have paired the phone in bluetooth options. Try scanning if you cant find the device also you can turn off bluetooth and switch on again if it fails to detect. Initially i wasnt able to detect the band due my case blocking the bluetooth signal ? even im not sure.. after removing the case the band got paired without any issues. First time pairing will require you to tap on the band while the LEDs are blinking.
Once the pairing is done you can continue to use the Mi band like in any android phone. You can also synch with your band and get updates on how many steps you have walked. Alarm option is also working fine.
Here are some things you are going to miss in Windows Phone App. Mostly these options are restricted and difficult to implement in Windows Phone due to the way Windows Phone handles notifications and also Microsoft should allow it first i guess.
# Screen unlock option - Yes you can unlock your screen using the band.
# Free sleep monitoring - WP version requires you to upgrade to Pro version which is obviously Not free.
# Call / Msg / App alerts - Blocked in Windows Phone due to OS limitations.

Apart from the above mentioned disadvantages i cant really find any cons for the Mi band in Windows Phone. Bind Mi Band app is very stable and runs flawlessly on my old Lumia 535 (Windows Phone 8.1 Denim) Actually we should be thankful to the Bind Mi Band developer for at least giving us the motion tracking and alarm option free of charge. Also you can even back up and synch your data to One Drive which is an added advantage in case you are changing phones etc. Overall im really happy with my purchase and got no complaints using the Mi Band in an unsupported platform via an unofficial app
If you guys are interested in buying the Mi band you can check the following link:

with latest Bind Mi Band app update you can upgrade firmware on Band 2 device
also notifications is supported with W10M AU devices

Mi Band: Xiaomi's fitness smart wristband

I'm not sure whether the right forum to post this thread.
Does anybody know about the new wristband that Xiaomi launched yesterday?

You won't see any screen on it, even no LED screen to show the time.
But it doesn't mean Mi Band is bland or worthless. I think it's quite powerful.:good:
- Unlock your phone via bluetooth without passcode (using BLE)
- Fitness monitor: track various health metrics and sync with your phone
- Sleep tracker and smart alarm: vibrate to wake you up during light sleep
- Notification: vibrate and flicker when you receive a new SMS or call
- Waterproof with the rating of IP67: you can wear it when showering
- 30 days standby when full charged
And the most awesome thing is, it's very cheap: only $13! It must be one of the cheapest smart band on the market.
But there are some cons:
No screen. However this makes the battery life longer.
It's only compatible with Mi 3 or Mi 4 with Android 4.4 based MIUI (It's the worst thing! )
Any ideas about Mi Band? Will you buy one if you had a Mi 3 or Mi 4?
Useful additions for Mi Band
Unlock and call reminder features are only for Xiaomi phones, is that right?
And how about whole wristband, does it work work on "normal" Android phone? My common sense telling me that it should - there is no restriction, it is just a bluetooth transmission. But maybe I'm wrong?
This looks brilliant. I was actually researching BLE technology and considering making something like this to unlock my phone. Seems I don't have to, at least if Xiaomi makes it support other devices.

I think it should work on other Android phones, but it couldn't, Even the older Xiaomi phone's like Mi 2S is not compatible.
Xiaomi is too "closed" now. Xiaomi will lose many potential customers if they keep doing that.

Yeah...I hope the next generation (Mi Band 2?) can support more devices.
Xiaomi is following Sammy's footstep, trying to get new customers by releasing phone specific gadgets. The only difference with Gear - that one got rooted, but with something as simple as smartband - most likely it will be locked to their phone. The same as they announced before about release of MI pressy-clones. Also, you have to realize that $13 is heavily subsidized price, they are giving it away at the cost or maybe below the cost, just so they can get new MI customers. Similar to what Amazon does with their tablets (hoping to get more Amazon shopping customers) or Google did with Nexus 7 (trying to jump start Android tablet business to take away share from iOS).

I heard a rumor that the cost of Mi Band is only CN¥ 49 (about $8.5)
i think in europe it will cost triple
where have people pre-ordered this from?
It starting to show up on websites that sell xiaomi and even aliexpress (although the price is higher than announced, but still a good deal considering).
Im just wondering, this does work with other android phones or just with xiaomi? Anyone knows yet? Its still new, so there probably isn't much info on that yet

HTCMania discussed in that it can be used with any Android, a user has been tested with a Nexus5 ... I have installed the apk without problems, but this in Chino, hopefully soon be translated into Spanish or English.
They have the apk file, but being new I can not put link.
Good to know!
We will probably start seeing more development on these as they start to get to more people.
But the function that it was to unlock/remove pin or pattern when you grab the phone/close to the hand with the bracelet probably won't work, right? Unless someone comes out with an android mod that will allow that.
Still, as a fitness tracker you can't beat the price
When in stock?
Hi!
This is the official link of the MiBand app -> http://m.app.mi.com/#page=detail&id=68548

Meizu Pro 6 is coming with force touch function

wOW, Meizu will release the new model, Meizu Pro 6 smartphone after the last model, Meizu Pro 5, Meizu has leaked the screenshot about Meizu Pro 6 which will have force touch display. Force touch is going to be the next big feature on Meizu it seem, and to show us what we will be able to do with the feature a screenshot has been released.
The screen shot simply shows us that we are able to push down on an icon to open up options directly from the home screen of Flyme.
It’s unclear what other options the pressure sensitive display might offer to the user, but we can guess that there will be some sort of scale app built-in, and perhaps knuckle gestures too.
So what do you think of Meizu Pro 6 smartphone ? When will it be released?

Do you really think it'll have force touch? I only hope this unneeded feature doesn't make it really expensive..
Hope it comes with the snapdragon 820...
Meizu Pro 6 has leaked the photos to attract more Meizu fans’ curiosity. We are looking for this new flagship to have more curve.
As you know, Vivo Xplay 5 has launched with a curved display, and xiaomi and other brand will also follow. So we guess meizu will also keep up.
Meizu M6 pro will feature a screen that curve on either side and top to bottom, cleverly leaving those venerable corners alloy to take the brunt of impact.
Meizu Pro 6 will come with force touch display and it will pack a Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset.
About other specs, we are not sure about it.
Just wait until July. I guess it will come out Meizu Pro 6 smartphone.
So what are you looking forward to this smartphone?

Exynos 8890 will be even better than the Snapdragon 820! I hope they release it earlier!
i actually think force touch is a great feature. i can think of several uses for this with games for example, or making more actions more intuitive, saving us the trouble of going trough several menus to find a feature we need
Nice! Damn, it's a beautiful phone

Yeah, Apple calls it 3D Touch, then others give it the name they want.
I don't think that Force Touch gonna take off in Android... For me it's more of a gimmick than something I would use often...

I think it's not a necessity, at least not any soon. But I won't say it'll fail when there's Apple behind it..

Inside the Mi Band 2 Boxa Mi Band 2 capsule is inside a packed strip, an ultra soft strap which is pleasant for the skin, a small USB cable for charging and a user manual for which you need to have mandarin language reading skill.
Looks and Specification of the Mi Band 2The Mi Band 2 looks much better, thanks to the 0.42 inch OLED screen which is also UV coated, scratch resistant and anti-fingerprint. The screen is completely black and the button also goes well with the blackish look. It has a touch pad button... just touch it to show the current time, steps taken, distance, calories burnt, heart rate and battery status.
the wrist strap is made of TPSiV material and anti allergic to skin. it's nicely fit on your wrist and the push lock is make sure to not fall off from your hand.
The bottom of the Mi Band 2 has the new optical HR sensor, while the charging pins are at one of the bottom side. The Mi Band 2 capsule fits snugly into the band and never pops out while wearing it. It looks ultra smooth and soft with excellent built quality.
Xiaomi's Mi Band 2 is dust and IP 67 water proof, so you won't have to worry about anything. And if smudged, you can easily wash with water.
The Mi Fit app is your place for tracking your activity - sleep, step count, heart-rate data. Here you can check your weekly and monthly progress, share achievements with Mi your friends or social networks, Calls, SMS and Apps Notifications as well as set new goals. The battery backup of Xiaomi Mi Band 2 lasted upto 20-25 days approximately on a single charge which is quite impressive.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Global (9.6.7.0) Freedom Mobile LTE?

Hello
I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the Global version the Mi Max 3. Did i make a mistake of purchasing a Freedom Mobile LTE incompatible phone? Or it should be asking myself whether this is really the Global Version?
Boot-loader seems locked, box in proper English with UK adapter, that makes me think its the Global version.
When i put my sim card in Data works, SMS works, but no phone calls in or out, even tho in the Network options Freedom is fully detected as the HOME network.
Any ideas?

I bought one exactly the same, in the same version of global Miui (9.6.7.0) and had no problem at all. In the box that came your device is written on the side "global version"?

No, I'm in Brazil and here are other operators. These are the bands that the unit has:
2G bands GSM 850/900/1800/1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
CDMA 800 & TD-SCDMA
3G bands HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100
4G bands - LTE band 1 (2100), 3 (1800), 4 (1700/2100), 5 (850), 7 (2600), 8 (900), 20 (800), 34 (2000), 38 (2600 ), 39 (1900), 40 (2300), 41 (2500)
See if your operator has the machine's bands.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news my friend but yes, you did just buy a phone incompatible with Freedom Mobile as I just did the same lol. Yes, messaging and data does work but you'll never get phone calls to work. I was wondering if it was worth sticking with Freedom anyways because of the deals but in the end I decided to switch over to Fido which works fine with the Mi Max 3. Also the version I have is def the Global Version (9.6.7.0) as I checked on the official website.

Haha yeah closure def makes things easier to handle. Tbh the phone is good enough that if you don't make a lot of phone calls it's still worth it but the problem for me is that in order to unlock your bootloader you need to get permission from Xiaomi. In order to get permission you need to have your device linked with your Mi Account. And in order to to that a confirmation text has to be sent (think Whatsapp). However, even tho you can send a text normally this automatic one fails to send on the Freedom network. So basically if you want to do any rooting whatsoever you'll need a SIM from somewhere like Rogers or Fido which ended up being the deciding factor for me aha.
If you have no plans on rooting then you should be fine :good:
Your phone should connect on LTE band 4 with Freedom Mobile. Mine connects flawlessly on LTE bands 4 and 7 with Telus.

General Pixel 6 Pro was supposed to launch with face unlock, according to Google internal sources

"9to5Google can report today that Google’s original plan was to launch the Pixel 6 Pro with face unlock, but the feature was pulled relatively close to launch."
According to sources familiar with the matter, Google intended to announce the Pixel 6 Pro with support for face unlock to complement the under-display fingerprint sensor. The capability was only meant for the larger flagship and not the smaller Pixel 6, which collaborates something we previously speculated based on code.
The hardware difference between the two phones is an 11.1MP front-facing camera with 94 degree “ultrawide” field of view on the 6 Pro compared to 8MP and 84 degrees on the $599 Pixel 6. Otherwise, there’s no dedicated hardware (IR cameras, dot projector, or flood illuminator) as was seen on the Pixel 4 in 2019. There’s nothing like Soli radar to speed up the unlocking process either.
Google is presumably relying solely on what’s captured by that selfie camera to authenticate that it’s you. This has always seemed like the more Google-y approach, which is primarily using software to tackle difficult problems. It was also something that the Android Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Galaxy Nexus leveraged.
There have hopefully been marked processing and accuracy advancements in the past 11 years, especially with the presence of dedicated hardware like Tensor. For example, Google touts its chip as allowing for faster, more accurate face detection – in photography contexts – due to integrated subsystems, while consuming half the power compared to a Pixel 5.
Click to collapse
The relatively last-minute decision to pull face unlock is reflected in how early and launch-day marketing material referenced the capability. This included a German print ad (though that mistakenly claimed it was for the entry Pixel 6) and one UK-carrier launch page that showed “Face and Fingerprint Unlock” in a live image of Android 12’s Security Hub. That reference — as well as one in a Play Store listing screenshot — was later pulled. Since then, there have been additional straggling references to the capability on actual Pixel 6 Pro devices.
One of the sources told us that Google is still working to add face unlock to the Pixel 6 Pro, and that it’s targeted for the next major quarterly Android update, though plans might still change.
If that is indeed still the plan, it’s quite interesting for Google to update the Pixel 6 Pro with a major new feature so close to the end of its annual product cycle. It will definitely be a welcome addition for current owners and those who continue to have qualms about the fingerprint reader. Meanwhile, this method of face unlock will presumably be a staple on future Pixel devices going forward.

I bet this phone will be awesome... Next year . Seriously face unlock would be a big plus and looking forward to it
A front-camera only face unlock?
Hope they give a huge disclaimer saying it's the least secure
