When you say "my stereo works fine" do you mean the sound is OK when you connect from the headphone socket to a stereo amplifier?
There is a common fault with the P8000 that the connections to the headphone socket are not well soldered, and come off. This can result in the sound becoming echo-y or quiet or not at all. It happened to me and I had to take the phone apart and resolder the connections.
There is a thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/help/headphone-jack-issue-t3214547

I have got this weird problem with my Qtek 9090, I can’t hear a thing from the speaker except incoming calls??? And there’s no sound when I pick up and no one hear me on the other side unless I use the headset or the Bluetooth headset, everything works great then even playing music !??
I tried with few other rom, but no success! I even tried with WM5
Could this have anything with the headset plug? Cuse when the headset is plugged (in normal case) you can only hear incoming calls from the phone!
Remove your bluetooth profile(s), and do a soft reset.
I have the same problem after I used bluetooth.

What has flashing with a new rom have to do with removing your bluetooth profile?

dude, thanks for trying to help, but you should know better. flashing with a new rom erase everything including the the BT profile. I still think the problem is the headset jack.

This is telling me that you DID install the bluetooth again, and so you have a bluetooth profile, what is causing the no sound problem!
I have exactly the same problem as you.. When I remove the bluetooth profile all is working fine again.. that is.. untill I set it up again, and use it.. Than the SAME problem is back.
thank alot , but still got the problem even with the BT-profile removed, I have to use the wired headset to be able to hear anything
Problem Solved
I Opened the damn thing and took a look at the 2,5mm jack and guess what, it was broken ( I remember dropping the phone once for a week ago), I just removed it ( I don’t use the headset but I need the speaker), and everything is loud and clear now,
and with a Sprite Backup file I’m back now
!!!?
I have such problem, but I think it really barbarian means of solving problem.
Is there any cleaner way?

I read in another post somewhere that there is a microswitch in/near the headphone jack that switches off the sound to the speaker. Apparently, if it sticks, you poke a paper clip in and twiddle it about and you'll free it.
no sound form jasjar
having same problem. poked around with paperclip and all that, but still no sound. dont need headphone jack because hoping to use latest a2dp hack form latest rom for jasjar to be able to use BT headset. will removing headphone jack affect using BT headphones? need external sound.
I also have a similar problem - when in phone mode, other side can hear me but i cannot hear them, if i plug a headset with microphone the other side hear me and i also have sound from other side.
if i unplug the headset, i cannot hear the other side but the other side can hear me.
are there microswitches inside the headset plug for both microphone and speaker (two microswitches) ?
thanks, yol.
just got my jasjar back after having cracked lcd and headphone jack replaced. sent to http://www.pocketpctechs.com out of california as suggested by very helpful user on this site. cost me around $20 dollars and took only a day to fix. works fine now!
My O2 XDA IIs is behaving rater unusally. For a while I've had the problem that many people have reported where I can hear nothing during a call but the other person can hear me. This could be remedied by a soft reset. However now, no amount of resets seem to fix the problem.
The baffling thing is though that the speaker hardware would appear to be working as MediaPlayer still plays music out of it and the phone still rings etc. However no sound what so ever comes through the 2.5mm socket now, from either a call or from MediaPlayer.
What on earth can I do to fix it?

Guys, are your problem similar to mine? My problem is that the speaker is not working even though playing mp3. I thought it was radio problem, so flashing new rom also doesnt help. It is really the headphone jack cause the problem? When i flash to new rom, the speaker works, but after the auto config, the speaker doesnt even sound.
Please advise me on this. Thank in advance

I have an Acura, and every bluetooth phone I have had in the past I could pair with the car, and plug in an Aux line to the headphone jack to listen to music, then if a call came in, it would come through my spearkers.
Now with the EP4g, it comes through the speakers, but no one can hear me, and I can't hear them until I unplug the aux line.
Anyone else have a problem?
i had a conference call on my phone in the car via my AUX input today. The parties were heard through the speakers of the car and they were able to hear me, but complained about a really bad echo and that I was VERY hard to hear. These in car conference calls were fine on my EVO with the same setup. I have not tried the in car bluetooth yet as I didn't think I would need it. Will be trying that next.
Just did a test with my Nissan and had to pull out the AUX cable before I could hear the other end on my speakers. The other end said they could hear me the entire time.
Something is going on with the aux cable. I really like the phone, but I don't like trying to figure **** out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1291889
I was under the impression that the mic becomes disabled when the AUX cable is in. Had similar behavior on my old Palm Centro. It went into "headset" mode and the mic turned off. In my thread, someone said that it is working fine. Perhaps there is something else causing it?
Do you use or does the Samsung voice dial app automatically launch when you put your aux cable in? Mine does. The mic does not work for it either. Maybe its the culprit?
***** My issue was fixed by changing the TTY settings *****
Settings>Call Settings>TTY mode>TTY VCO
Its just an aux cable, no mic to it. I plug it in and dont see anything in the status bar and no apps launch.
Right, but when the AUX cable is put in, the Microphone on the epic is disabled, at least that's my working theory. IDK, maybe its just something with mine, but at the moment, no-one can hear me when the aux cable is installed, and i cannot use the voice search applications
***** My issue was fixed by changing the TTY settings *****
Settings>Call Settings>TTY mode>TTY VCO
I will give that a try, any idea what that mode does? Manual doesn't really help.

VCO stands for Voice carry over. I could be wrong on the exact purpose, but i understand that it is designed to allow those with hearing impediments but capable of speaking to use their own voice while their speaker is hooked up to another device to assist in hearing.
Basically, it keeps the microphone on the device "ON" while the audio is outputted to another device. In our case, the car speakers.
Otherwise, when the device is outputting audio, it is looking for another source of voice input. If you car had a hands-free option built in, it would work just fine without changing the setting as the voice input would be coming from the hands free option.
Just a guess really. Glad its working for me, hope it works for you!
Yes it wierd, My car does have bluetooth built in, but when the aux cable is plugged in it doesn't send sound to the handsfree. Not sure what the issue is.

Can anyone also confirm that this works?
I have an iphone 4s right now, but I really want to go back to android and get a GSII, but that bluetooth problem was a big hassle when I had the Epic 4G. However, with the Epic 4G, someone wrote an app that would allow you to reroute sound through bluetooth with the aux was plugged in. I'm hoping there's a fix out there...
Hey Folks,
I realized an big issue on my phone today:
When I listen to music over headphones, I can hear the music over the speakerphone (the one used while phoning), too. The sound is quite awful and is just some random noise. The issue appears in every music app, but only with headphones plugged in. When listening to loud music with the phone speaker, everything is quite fine. The issue only appears when the volume is nearly or completly turned up to max.
I have rooted my phone with the guide by Darkimmortal and [NUT].
Has anyone noticed the same issue? Might this be an software or an hardware issue?
Thanks

i mean check any problem in its cable & ...
and also check headphone jack connector on phone if it s dirty or ...!
If u didn't any customization in rom
flashing 3rd party kernel
a mod through recovery
or any app with root access (that has permission for headphone sound etc)
then it s hardware problem.
maybe u destroyed ur headphone or ...
:good:
Well, the defect somehow dissappeared.
Thanks for your help anyway!

Hello everyone !
My M8 went mad today. It recognizes all headphones/earphones except the stock one that came with the device. The stock one works perfectly fine with all the devices except my M8. That sounds really strange, but it did happen.
I googled some forums and found that soundabout app on the play store could solve this issue by routing the audio to headphone jack. It worked.
I was tinkering with the settings of the app. I routed the audio to the earpiece(top speaker) only.
I'm somewhat skeptical that the top speaker now has less volume compared to the bottom one, when playing music/videos.
Does this mean that I have a partly damaged speaker ?
Also, can tinkering the settings damage the hardware(speakers) in any case ?
Thank you for reading.

I think that the earpiece speaker is actually less powerful than the bottom speaker. I use SoundAbout myself as I have an issue with one of my friends old stereo's. The phone doesn't recognize that I have plugged in the aux cable but it only happens with that stereo. So I have to use the SoundAbout app to change the setting to Wired Headphones.
I'm not sure if tinkering setting can damage the speakers, but I have damaged the bottom speaker myself by flashing one of the first CM12 nightly's that came out. The speaker is quite easy to replace yourself and same goes for the earpiece.
Hello,
I have nexus 5 with stock 5.1.1 not rooted.
I started to use soundabout because my phone didn’t recognize AUX-IN from my car audio.
Everything was ok for long time till yesterday.
Now, after I will use soundabout I can’t hear any call conversation. I need to restart nexus.
I am wonder If someone know some similar program that I can test.
Regards from Poland
Hello all,
Whenever I plug in a wired headphone I can hear the sound of the headset microphone. It's very annoying, especially when walking and it's windy.
Is there any known issue that would be causing this? Any troubleshooting steps?
I'm on rooted stock, headset is a rha MA750i.
Thanks!
Edit: spelling.
