'Soft skin' camera issue on Lollipop - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently I found an issue with my camera on lollipop. When I took photos with high iso, the processed images looked really soft and horrible. I disabled soft skin but the problem wasn't solved. and it even applied to rear camera when I zoom in 100%. I thought it was a 'feature' of Sony until when I reverted it to kitkat. The soft skin issue's gone. Images looked sharper and better, especially on front camera. So I assume this is a software problem on lollipop. Is anyone noticing or having this issue ? I love manual controls of lollipop camera but I can't help this stupid software problem.

Remapping Camera Pixels? Camera Modding?

Hi everyone, recently i noticed that when recording video there is a white stuck pixel in the viewfinder that shows up on indoor or low light conditions...also shows on the camera ( i am not talking about the red or blue hot pixels that show up when you cover the lens completely) and the interesting thing is that when i snap a picture it wont show up but if i record a video its there, after some testing i found out that it dissapears if i enable image stabilizer witch is very strange..and it leads me to beleive that this can be fixed by software update, i have tested many Arcs and read many forums and it seems every single one has this to some extend, some worse some better but all do. Now i know that Droid X users had this problem a while ago and it was fixed with an software update, also i know that even some of the most expensive cameras have this as well and it is fixed by pixel remapping so my question is this: does anyone have any knowledge of modding the camera driver on the Arc and is it possible to somehow fix this? Other than contacting SE about the issue since this will take forever until they do anything about it (develop a software fix etc.)
Anyone? Any info about modding the camera will be helpfull. Few more things i found is that if i enable sport scenes the white blinking pixel is gone both on cam and video and will show again if i max the exposure...

CM11 Front Facing Camera Aspect Ratio

I searched and couldn't find mind help with this. I also searched the cyanogenmod bug system. It has been mentioned in the bug system but it was basically brushed off.
Anyhow, in the stock camera app the front facing camera is fine. But in some third party apps, for example: snapchat, it's distorted. Only with the front facing camera. (took a picture of a coin which is a perfect circle and it comes out as an oval.)
This is on the most current cm11 snapshot and was also in the previous snapshot. Any known fixes would be greatly appreciated.
Really? No one has a clue about this???
I installed the latest snapshot awhile ago and recently i noticed that HDR was taking really dark pics no matter what in the stock app, and then I noticed that the front facing camera doesn't work in 3rd party apps, and hdr doesnt work at all in 3rd party apps. They either take blank pics or crash the app I've been searching for days and i cant find a single fix nothing. I'm sorry i can't be of help, just wanted to let you know I've been looking and can't find anything
I have the exact problem OP is describing for a while now. I would love if someone had an answer.

Google Camera mod with HDR+

Anyone else give the modded camera a try. I just installed it & I didn't experience any issues. I'll test it some more tomorrow though

Im using Mod rom viper 10 5.1.1
Im realise that latest HTC camera for HDR+ seems like have compress picture to reduce noise in the picture same like google camera apps,
I also try modded google camera apps and the result was almost the same (noise reducing)
which version u installed guys?U have weird noise pattern in low light?
Yeah, super noisy for me too, stock cam takes way better pics.
Are you all on stock or AOSP
I've tried this on both stock and PureFusion, there's always a noise pattern but it's most noticeable in low light pics. The noise starts about 1/4 of the screen away from the home button and continues to the edge of the picture facing the selfie cam. It's only our phone that has this issue so it'll likely never be corrected.
This is somewhat disappointing, as I was hoping this would help camera quality on AOSP roms. I loved LOS, but I couldn't take a good picture to save my life. The stock sense ROM camera really makes use of that camera sensor, as it should. Still kind of bugs me the Google Camera doesn't make better use of the sensor, since it uses the same camera sensor as the 5X/6P (10 has OIS, where the 5x/6p does not), and those phones take great pictures. I know there's more to it than just "your phone has *x* sensor, so we can take some great pics". It's just a little annoying, is all.

Camera Resolution Problem

Hi,
i have a huge problem with my camera. When my Mi5s arrived before one year the cam worked perfectly and the pictures were really nice. But somewhen the quality of the images went really low, so i tried different camera apps and settings, tried multiple different roms (Miui Dev, Global, etc.) but nothing helped.
The images looking like if the resolution is really low and are unsharp, especially in low light situation. The weired thing is that in the preview of the camera app the images are much sharper and more brilliant as after the photo is taken.
I am for now on the pixel experience rom (clean flash with everything wiped) and tried the stock cam, the ported google cam and the ported miui cam, but the images are all the same.
I have now clue who it can be that the images are that bad after processing in every app
Does anybody have an idea why this happens and how to solve this? i didnt find anywhere similar problems with this phone/cam.
Thanks

Maybe you can try magisk module from tadi's libhack (this module is for oreo) And make sure your gcam setting set correctly.
Didnt help, but thank you!
It looks more like a too long shutter time if you ask me. Did you used the Mi5s specific port of GCam? Search here for "v2e", which will give you the latest one that worked great with my device: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
For settings I use:
Model Pixel 2 XL (some users have better results with Nexus 6P)
Config HDR Pixel 2017 ZSL
HDR+ Very high
Final JPG Qual 100% (although 95% should also be enough)
And enabled increased detail of HDR+ on front camera
The author suggests these settings himself:

LG Wing Viewfinder Lag

Hi, I just got an LG Wing yesterday (the korean kt version). Overall I'm loving it, but I'm experiencing fairly significant viewfinder lag when using the rear camera on LG's stock camera app as well as other apps such as Whatsapp & Snapchat. It's like very severe motion blur. It's really annoying and was wondering if anyone has a fix? The front and rear wide cameras seem to be working just fine, and when I put any of the the rear cameras on video mode it's fine - the issue only persists while taking stills with the primary rear cameras. Thanks!
