LG G4 H815 International Bootloader, OneClickRoot, Root, other Q's - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone;
I have a few questions:
I am trying to unlock the bootloader for my nephews LG G4 but it seems like there is no way of doing it.
I followed the official method, entered the IMEI number and the DEVICE ID but I get a warning that they do not match and that we have X tries remaining before device gets locked. Right now it's sitting at 7 more tries remaining.
He had the bootloop issue a few months ago (phone wasn't unlocked or rooted or anything), sent it to LG, they fixed it and sent it back. The only explanation I can find is that the DEVICE ID doesn't match the IMEI number anymore because of them changing hardware? I really don't understand why the official method doesn't work or keeps saying that Device ID does not match your PHONE!
Anyway, I tried to root without unlocking the bootloader, and that didn't work either.
Is there a way to unlock this damn device without the official method?
If there isn't... Does using the One-Click-Root method work with this phone? He doesn't want to pay $80 AUD not knowing whether or not it will work...
Also all of this, just to fix the GPS Locking problem that HOPEFULLY would work if we change ROMS. Is there a way to fix the GPS problem without unlocking, rooting, and changing ROMS?

Send mail to LG about yours problem, they will send unlock bin

I had the same problem

What is the best way to root G4, whilst keeping it "friendly" for warranty claims?!?
Hi, forgive me if this thread isn't in the appropriate section.
I have a bit of rooting experience, haven't done much in a few years though, (knowing that there are now several ways to root devices), and have just picked up the G4.
Now I'd like to root the G4, but keep the stock rom, (6.0) and mainly will be just running xposed to edit and muck around with LG's ugly skin. I'd still like to be able to receive OTA updates, (even if the OTA update may remove my root,) as well as hopefully still be fine if I needed to return the device under warren.
I've been reading around and apparently you must unlock the bootloader in order to root for Marshmallow? If i were to still do this, could I keep the stock recovery at least, or if not, would I be able to easily revert to stock with a stock recovery and relock the bootloader?
Apologies for my ignorance, just trying to figure out if I should really be rooting or just chuck on Nova launcher and be happy with LG's offerings. Cheers
Keep it on a stock rom and if yoi have a carrier varient then try to not change the boot logo lol idk just a guess.

Yes to reflashing stock rom
Yes to relocking the bootloader
So you are clear to make whatever modifications you want, you can always revert safely.

Once your bootloader is unlocked, you cannot relock it. Your device will always show a message saying "Bootloader unlocked" after turned on. Warranty is likely to be declined then. BTW: You have to get your unlock.bin file from lg, agreeing to void your warranty. So, even if you smash your screen and they cannot see the message, lg knows it is out of warranty.

Since when do you have to get the unlock.bin? We unlock from fastboot. Have you confirmed by trying to relock from fastboot? I read otherwise from another thread.
Furthermore, a quick search around indicates people who have unlocked and rooted have had their warranty honored despite software changes.

Unlock from fastboot is only possible after flashing said unlock.bin file, which can only be obtained by lg and is unique for each device. Furthermore, I had an unlocked, bootlooping h815 and lg refused warranty to me (in Germany). Got my phone replaced by my vendor on eu law which only applies if the defect strikes in the first six months.
So, while some people are lucky to have their phone repaired despite an unlocked bootloader, I'm really happy for them, but lg is not bound to repair it on warranty

Ah I see. You have a h815. I have a h811. Our process differs there.
Hmmm, thanks for the info guys. Its not from a carrier, i bought it outright. Seems like i might just have to keep it stock, its not too bad as is, guess ill just have to live with it. Thanks for the help though.

At least you can root with locked bootloader
Not under marshmallow
You can do none of things you listed keeping it stock. First of all google change policy and in marshmallow you need to flash modified boot.img in order to flash custom recovery and/or to root it. As you know the bootloader has to be unlocked but there is no way to relock it. So sorry, but impossible.
People need to understand a simple thing.
You either mod your device and lose warranty or you keep it stock.
It's that simple. People worried about warranties and ota updates are on the wrong site.

G4 how to root it? (dont understand whats with bootloader and so)

Hello there, i got an LG G4 h815 few days ago, when ever i get new device first thing i do is root it, and it was always very easy for me.
with this g4 i got problems, try to go to LG website and unlock bootloader, it say i cant cause my device is h815 taiwan, so i read more in google and understand official unlock is only for the euro devices.
so i google more try to understand how can i unlock it unofficially, and found nothing, as well as try to google for a way to root it with out unlock bootloader, and also coulnt find.
im sure im missing something, cause i dont think its possible that there is no root for an old device, any help on how to root my phone?
thanks a head.
Lots of people here have H815 TWN...please can some one make a specific thread for rooting or installing xposed on Taiwanese H815 without the risking of bricking or bootlooping the device...meaning successful rooting ...

unfortunatelly you cant unlocked till today.. maybe later if someone can do it... but you can add root to locked bootloader... i have not tried this method.. i tried similar to h811 tmobile.. but its the same procedure.. mine is unlockacle but i dont want to with the bootloop issue... unlocking bootloader voids warranty. and root too but you can always try the kdz that disables the big cores and undo the root..

thank you, i found the root for locked bootloader, i done it, but its only for 5.1 android, and i still cant flash roms, only one rom witch they make for locked bootloader, so after all the process went back to unroot 6.0 androis >:
hope some1 will break this bootlock .

No rpmb and impossibility to unlock my bootloader

Hi everyone. My device just came back from lg, and apparently I've got a brand new mother board. There is a problem though: my rpmb is gone (fastboot states "no rpmb" right next to the secure boot string), and I guess that is what makes my device fail to unlock its bootloader. Now, doing a little searching on the net, what I get is that really little people also encountered this problem, and ALL of them seem to have sent their device to lg from Italy (as have I). Have I got any chance to fix it? Or maybe just take it back to lg for a check? What could I possibly say to them?
Note that I know pretty well how to unlock bootloaders under normal circumstances, as I have already unlocked many nexus devices of mine in the past, so that is not the problem.
Hey there! I found a solution to get root access, here's my post on Reddit about it:

Hope this helps!

I need help. I can't unlock my bootload,Who has an unofficial method?

I tried every possible way to unlock my mi6, but they all failed, including the international version, the Chinese version, I want to use the third-party rom and root, but I can't unlock my device so that I can't brush in recovery, I tried to force brush in recovery, but my mi 6 can't start, so I want to ask if there is any unofficial way to help me solve the problem of unlocking bootload, please don't tell me to use the official tools, because I tried. Who has an unofficial way to help me, thank you
AFAIK there's no unofficial bootloader unlock for the Mi 6 now.
You might get one eventually but it is unlikely since even though the three days waiting sucks it does work...
What was not working on the unlock?
Did you bind the account on your phone and then wait three days (minimum) and then use the unlock tool (latest version)?
If not then try again.
Give us more information and we can help you.

All I have tried, before this, I have a mi5, I think I should know how to unlock, it should not be my problem, unlock tool tips I did not bind, but I was bound state, I tried Kind of version fails, the same problem, my account already has permission, I think there are unofficial mys5 bootload method, I think mi6 may also exist, so I come to ask you a solution? In fact, there is a region in our country can be solved by mail bootload but need to pay, I do not want to pay do not want to mail. So to ask
First. flash the Chinese development rom,
and then unlock

At which point you failed?
1. Failed on 99% unlock tool?
2. Failed to get the system unlock on Developer Options (the error appear as toast and say something like "10008 参数错误 请参考API文档") ?
If it's #2, then you must connect to any VPN server that is located in Mainland China (Beijing/Shanghai).
If it's #1, then you most likely have to wait 72 hours after you receive your unlock permission from your SMS.
I've just unlocked Mi Mix 2 2 weeks ago. The difference I noticed from when I unlocked my Mi6 is that I need to connect to VPN server in China. Half a year ago, I don't need to do that.

Thanks for your help, I have unlocked successfully. Will you compile the rom? I have encountered some problems.

Unlock bootloader with unlock code

Hi everyone,
today I sent my p20 lite to amazon for a problem with the screen (it would seem a line at the bottom of the screen with burnt pixels). My question is: since I was about to unlock the bootloader with the code provided by the site when it was still possible to request it, I can still use it even if the device is different or connected to the IMEI and then to unlock it I have to go through other methods ?
As far as I know, bootloader code is tied to the first imei on p20, if device/imei is changed, so bootloader code. Additionaly, if you get new device with newest system updates you can't get bootloader unlock, or if so, it will cost ya around 50usd (unless DC unlocker (5usd) starts working again with newest os), but I don't know whether those more expensive methods even work, some people claim that they are, but all looks quite fishy imo.
Edit
okay, apparently, there's a way to unlock bootloader even with newest firmware - you need to downgrade os using this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/how-to/root-how-to-install-update-t3841557 and then get code using DC unlocker
bootloader code works for your bootloader software (i once bricked my p9 phone so hard, i needet to reflash its software with testpoint method, after that, my bootloader code didnt work, used dc unlocker 4 euros, to see what code are, then i got different code for same phone with same imei etc.) so, if nothing drasticaly not changed with your mainboard softare, you need to be able to use unlock code you got.
