Poor Performance on Sense 3.5 ROMs

Hey guys,
i used good old InsertCoin ROM most time, but i'd like to use new Sense 3.5 now.
I tried Runnymedia AIO and Runny ROM. Both perform ok at first, but then i restore my apps using Titanium Backup. Now the device performs extremely slow after i use the market (play store).
Increasing CPU Frequency doesn't help either. How can i find out, whats slowing my device down?
Using STOCK HBOOT with 1GB Ext4 Partition.
Radio: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Instead of Restoring apps, why not try re-downloading them from the Play Store. My Phone is super smooth. No problems yet.
It seems that you're right. App-restoring might be the problem. I removed most apps which i restored with TB and now its smooth again.
But of course i want to keep my App-Data (/data) from my InsertCoin installation.
I'll try installing BackupEverything on IC, backup my apps with this app and then restore to Runny ROM.
Any idea why that might be?
I also have a slow RunnyMod after restoring via Titanium to restore my apps, but most of them have no other way to backup...
Slow, after restoring with BackupEverything too. And BE doesn't even backup /data/data
Somebody knows a tool which actually works?

I backup my apps using AppMonster PRO. Have done since I got my Desire 2 years ago.
It allows for plain name backup of .apks and using its newer backup method, allows for batch reinstall of apps. Also can specifiy how many versions of an apk to keep / as2d notification and automatic backup of .apk when installed.
Doesn't do cache backup and user customizations that can be carried over from one install to another in way that Titanium Backup does, but works fab for me, I just reinstall wot I want!
In this way I dont get any mess up's when switching roms were I restore a TB backup and it puts the data in the wrong place.
I always backup and restore with ic_backup_apps.zip and ic_restore_apps.zip. I can't find the original links (there was a link in the Insertcoin thread) and I don't know if I'm allowed to post mirrors here. But a google search should help you get those files I think.
ic_backup_apps stores all the apks in a .tar file on you sd card and also wipes your system, be careful
ic_restore_apps unpacks this file and puts them back
To install another ROM I always do the following:
backup apps with titanium (only user apps+data, no system data)
backup sms, call log and "some" system settings with Mybackup root
power off, reboot in recovery
a nandroid backup is advised, you should do this regulary anyway imo
flash ic_backup_apps.zip as you would flash any other zip. But be careful, this also wipes everything
full wipe (data+system+boot+sd-ext+cache+dalvik) + battery stats, so everything except sd card
flash the rom.zip
flash ic_restore_apps.zip
power off, (remove sim, to prevent incoming sms while restoring), reboot
switch off automatic backup (it's not needed now)
restore with mybackup root
restore (some) user app data with titanium
I've wiped and flashed multiple sense 3.5 ROMs this way and never had problems with slowness or FCs.
Your SD card could also be a bottleneck.

I must be doing it wrong - Titanium Backup Pro

I am having fits trying to use Titanium Backup Pro (TBP) on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (i747). After installing a new ROM and preforming a TBP restore I always have two problems. First my wifi and 4G(LTE) fail to connect. Second, I can no longer install apps in Google Play store from my desktop PC. Before I do a TBP restore both these problem do not exist. What am I doing wrong?
First I will walk through my process of installing a new ROM.
Place ROMS & GAPPS in the root directory. I put them there because it is quick and easy to find.
Backup my current ROM using ROM Manager Premium v5.0.3.1.
Backup all my apps, folders, and settings with TBP...I think. I choose the Backup all user apps + system data option.
Here is where some of the confusion is for me. Which backup option should I chose in TBP?
I have tried both Backup all user apps and Backup all user apps + system data.
Or should I choose another option?
Does TBP backup all my folders I created on my homescreen and other screens?
Does TBP backup all my WiFi connections and passwords?
Does TBP backup information pertaining to Google Play?
Does TBP backup all my widgets on my homescreens?
Does TBP backup the wallpaper currently in use on the phone?
After all the backups I boot into Recovery mode using ClockworkMod 6.0.1.2.
Once inside CwM Recovery I select wipe data/factory reset, wipe partition cache, wipe dalvik cache, and wipe battery stats.
Next I install the ROM and GAPPS. After they both successfully install I reboot the phone.
Finally I go through the setup process to complete the new ROM install.
I have tried both letting Google Play restore all my apps and stopped Google Play from restoring my apps.
At this point my WiFi and 4G(LTE) are working fine. Plus I able able to install appsin Google Play from my desktop PC.
Now I preform a TBP restore. I have tried both Restore all apps with data and Restore missing apps + all system data.
Once the restore is done TBP recommends I reboot, which I do.
Sometimes the phone will get stuck in a boot loop. So I have to pull the battery and reboot. Sometime the phone will get stuck in boot loop and the only way to get out of it is to reinstall the ROM and GAPPS.
After the TBP reboot I notice my WiFi and 4G(LTE) are not working as well as installing apps from my desktop PC.
I hope you guys can help figure out what is going on.
Thanks,
-Sonny
Only thing I can say is never restore system apps. I always use TB and have never had an issue.

+1 to this. Never restore any system apps.
The only system data I restore is clock and contacts storage.

[Q] A question about TWRP and Simple2Ext

Hello everbody,
I have some questions related to TWRP. What I am aiming for is trying out new ROMs to see which one suits best my needs. For that I need to do a full backup of my system. As far as I know this is what TWRP is supposed to do this.
I just did some tests and it turned out that this is not the case - I created a full backup using TWRP (checked all checkboxes in the backup creation window). This is the place to mention that I use Simple2Ext to move all user apps to sd-ext. So I assumed that TWRP will manage to restore the whole system as it backs up all partitions (incl. sd-ext). It seems though this is not the case - I just recovered a backup but the system contains only the system apps (Calculator, Gallery etc.) Not even Google Play Store. All user apps (including S2E) have an SD icon in the Apps settings and when I try to start an app from the desktop, it says App isn't installed.
What am I doing wrong? How can I make a full backup which I can restore and have S2E working? Is this possible?

It seems that it did a only-system-partition backup. Don't know if that's the only backup function with TWRP, but as it should be based on CyanogenMod recovery, it should support a full backupt (including every partition). I suggest to write in development thread.

Titanium Backup do not start

Hi guys, I would like to save my Apps and associated data using the Titanium BU.
I unlocked the Bootloader, installed TWRP 3.3.1-0924 (unoff.) and Magisk 19.2.
Device is: RN8P, MIUI Global 11.0.3 Stable, 11.0..3.0 (PGGEUXM)
Problem: I can install the Titanium App v8.04 or the v7 version. When the TitaniumBU trying to start, and there is some long error message (approx. 2 pages) that all list only Java errors.
Unfortunately, I have not tried the Titanium before (without TWRP and Magisk Root).
Now, I can not say whether it worked before this modification.
Question: Is there any Java settings in the MIUI settings. I didn't find anything in Settings / Developer mode. Maybe someone can help me. I just want to back up my data and the apps with Titanium. On my old Samsung it made a perfect job.
Thanks
regards wa2ld
I downloaded Titanium Backup from play store seemed to work perfectly fine for me.
I had trouble getting titanium backup to install from my backed up apk's but as JuanM2020 said, from the play store works fine. Only issue I have is I've noticed some apps fail to restore with titanium backup on my rn8pro, just hangs, doesn't matter which settings I change. Maybe 10% of my apps have to be manually installed from the play store and then I can restore "data only".
I did not have any issue installing Titanium backup I grabbed from apkmirror, latest version available.
Gave it root and done.
Tbh I had been looking in that solution to backup my apps due to TWRP issues with work profiles (second space) which I am using, and so far none of the apps I tried to backup and restore worked. It backed up the Apk yes (but I dont care about that I have backup of those already) but not once I could make a backup of the app data (well yes I made the backup) more precisely could not restore those apps userdatas. Simple thing I wanted to have my login passwords saved so it could be restore without having to retype them.
Whatsapp, telegram, protonmail and some others, restoration of userdata failed all times.
Still have not found any solution to backup and restore apps and their associated datas from both profiles. Fails on both.
It is likely working for some apps, but certainly not for the app I need it to work. Too bad for me.
Speaking of which is there a way to only backup OS settings alone (without all the apps) for like walpapers, colors, default apps, per app settings like notifications and such?
Thanks.
