OTA updates after rooting.

Some questions.
Is it possible to do OTA update when available while rooted?
If not, will just unrooting via supersu unroot option be sufficient to update an OTA update? Or must custom recovery be removed and stock recovery restored?
If so, has HTC made the stock recovery image/files and stock Rom available?
Are there any toolkits that can help with this rooting, unrooting for HTC 816?

status update:
Yes, I have just test this (going to stock recovery) last night and I could get the official update 1.49.401.1 to be installed on my device, but the super user is not working any more !!! I think I shall have to reroot !!!
But its working now :laugh:

Where are stock recoverys?

later updata you need again install Cwm or twrp recovery and joined the root...

No. this is A5_DUG recovery...

Disable write protection.

My HTC desire 820 is rooted.
I want to make some change is in my system file.
I tried all methods.(remount as r/w)
After making changes I reboot my device.
But after reboot,the files are as it was before editing.

Same specs but no md5 verification requests, maybe were disabled.

I don't know if there's a way to go s-off for your specific phone model yet nor i have tried it.You could try a search .
But u also might like to look for custom roms ,in which there is the ability to modify things without going s-off.Which file(s) you actually want to modify buddy?

No need to s-off and pay 25$ to Sunshine just for that .Better go for a custom rom and benefit from the devs optimisations too.

One place you could go ,find and download your specific rom.zip from is here :

After dl finished , rename it to OPFJIMG..zip and copy to root of your sd card .Then just boot in fastboot mode and it will auto-instal itself.
ps. in case name "OPFJIMG" won't work ,then try "OPFJ10000".
But for all this to work ,you must first have re-installed, the original htc recovery through adb.

Htc desire 616 stuck on htc logo

Frnds i stuck on htc logo after restoring backup of stoke rom which was taken by driod tool this problem arises after flashing costom lewa rom on my phone through cwm recovery
On one hand when i flash lewa rom it works properly my phone gots on it dosesnot stuck on htc logo but when i try to restore my backup of stoke rom from sp flash tool it again stuck on htc logo

did you do a factory reset and battery pull after flashing the stock?

Did you clean system, data, cache, dalvik-cache before restoring the backup?

Try getting the stock boot.img and flashing that after you restore the backup.(before you boot into the stock ROM)

I have tried that but still same issue

HTC Desire 816G Dual Sim no Hboot

Guys I don't have Hboot installed on my phone, after I reboot and press volume down it goes straight to recovery mode, how can I solve my problem ? Is there any solution.
It's a new phone I just got it and I want to install CM12.

I also encountered similar problem as you, I want root my cell-phone and flash cook rom but I can't find any guideline

I tried many recoveries that were available for original 820 and none of them worked on 820q..
