Wifi Tether

So my SGS2 running Juggs 5.0 can no longer tether without a plan...and I can no longer just freeze it with Tiatanium Pro...how to get wifi tethering back without paying for it?

delete or freeze tethering manager, wifi sharing, and wifi sharing manager...

shoot i even delete wifi 1.0 i seriously don't see what those 3 apps do.. it makes no difference whether they're there or not when i use my phone. I tether with and without... but ultimately I removed them all

Froze wifi and wifi sharing manager...I don't have tethering manager...still won't work...

Oh no you must have misunderstood me. I tether fine with or without those mentioned apps.

Try "android-wifi-tether", version 3.1 beta 7. Go into settings and set device profile to the S2.
Worked fine for me this a.m.

So it appears to be working with android-wifi-tether however I permanently have the "Security policy restricts use of Internet Sharing" showing on my screen (when I activate the tether) until I reboot the phone, can anyone else on Juggs 5.0 confirm they have tethering manager in titanium backup or can they get Wifi Tethering to work without the feature added to their account?

Try the app barnacle wifi tether.

Agreed. I use barnacle... Used it today, actually... Have never had a problem.

Foxfi works
I am new to all this, but this app works for me without the root.
It is at the app store and called Foxfi.

Agreed, this application works very well

I also use FoxFi and it worked perfectly for me before and after I rooted my phone!

is there an app that works with CM10 for free tethering?

do you have another tethering app installed? it can stop the native stuff from working

I've looked into this quite a bit... yes you have to install other tether apps -- also jamcar, make sure wifi is off before turning on tether, and it has to be open encryption, at this time, encryption is bugged. I'm still trying to find out what I can about how android-wifi-tether works to see where it's looking for files to get access contro/encryption, i'm waiting on a reply from the dev... good luck

I recommend using native tether. Others have had problems getting tethering to work with third-party apps. Even having a tethering app installed without using it can break tethering.

Not sure. I used it with my TF300, and it worked fine. Do you have a firewall app installed or something similar? I could imagine something like Droidwall or Lookout or something blocking the connection.

Wait a few minutes. Sometimes it takes a minute for everything to settle. If its actually connecting fine the internet should follow

i am still having trouble with my native wi-fi tether on the cm10 8-1 rom as well...the icon pops up in the notification bar but the limited connection icon is always on the pc...ive uninstalled the aftermarket tether app and lookout as well...any suggestions???

using wifi to share wifi

I am staying at a hotel where
1. My mobile data plan doesn't work (another country)
2. I paid 30 to have one device (my note II) get internet
3. I learned that I cannot run hotspot and wifi at the same time
How can I share my internet with other devices? Can thos even be done?

I dont think it's possible, but you could try using usb tethering or maybe Bluetooth tethering

Bluetooth tethering is a setting on the rom you are using. It cannot be enabled via app. Its been a while since I messed with my Bluetooth tethering but I can tell you it works very well. I don't have a link handy.
The main advantage is it is very low power. The connection is very seamless as well.

By rom, are you referring to a rooted phone? If so, I don't have a rooted phone. I guess I will consider this for my next trip.

If you get internet on your one device then your easiest option is to get internet on your laptop and then create a hotspot on your laptop.
If your laptop is running windows 7 then you can follow the instructions from here.

[Q] Wifi Tether - Show connected clients

Hey guys, i got a question about the Wifi tethering on the Xperia S.
is it possible to show the connected devices via an app or with the system himself, when i have Wifi tethering on? i don't want to look everytime in the dnsmasq.leases file or what it calls.

Just password protect it with wpa2 and you should be more then secure

Good question.
WiFi is seen as off when WiFi tethering is enabled, so applications like Fing and WiFi Analyzer just see the WiFi interface as down.
You have to have 'conventional' WiFi disabled and WiFi thethering enabled, so this would only be a short term config under a controlled environment in most cases.
It's true WPA2 and a password does provide good basic security, but....
I have an old XPERIA X10i with a 64GB mircroSD card which could make a short to long term mobile NAS and in such an environment where many people are using your hotspot "NAS" for documents, music and/or videos access/streaming, knowing if someone is using it before disabling the service may be helpful.
So, I too, would be interested if there is an app that sees the tethered interface and the network connections using it.

Interesting. How did you enable and view the tethered interface when Fing only monitors wlan0?

I didnt, i only search on google. Some guys were report they use this app for that action

I actually saw it on the Galaxy S3 which has tethering enabled and shows the connected devices. so i think it can be done if we port the tethering app from the galaxy s3 to the XS. after that it should work.. maybe.. =D
btw. i tested the app and it didn't work.. :/

Just curious, can you instal that app on second phone and conect to host, can you then look which devices are conected to it?

Wifi hotspot other than stock!!!

OK i have the 32gn unlocked versio,and i know it has stock mobile hotspot,but that way tmobile track my usage and i can tether 5gb only,so how can i use another wifi tether app i have tried use wifi tether router but i cant make it work pleasehelp thanks......

Try playing around with Trev E Mod's settings and seeing if anything works ?

I've used Hotspot Control v1.1 by Chainfire with success. It always starts, but does seem to stop the Access Point sometimes without my interaction. Keeping the screen on may be helpful.

I can confirm that WiFi Tether Router works and isn't detected. PDANet+ redirected to the native hotspot and Trev E Mod failed completely.

I'm rooted on my T-Mobile Galaxy S6, but can't seem to get WiFi Tether Router to work. I've tried several configurations to no avail.

I've tried everything from editing the build.prop to editing many others. I wish I could find the OLD WiFi tether app from years ago, that would work with anything. Ill try the one mentioned but if anyone figures something out about the native let me know please. Thanks
